The pancakes are “OK” not “WOW like what I expected”. The customer service, however, needs to be improved. We waited for so long for the waitress to come and take our order and after that it also took so long to be prepared although we were there before 8:00am and it wasn’t crowded yet. In addition, we received our order and the maple syrup we requested was missing! We had to call the waitress again to ask for it. The experience would have been better with better customer service.

Good place to start the day with a big breakfast. I have visited here twice and both were great. I would recommend the Dutch Pancake with bacon, cheese, mushroom & fried egg.

The pancakes tasted very good! The only thing I didn't like was the apple crumble on it as it was cold and not warmed up.. The goats cheese pancake was amazing!! I think the savoury pancakes are much better than the sweet ones

We ordered three flavours to share among four of us. Portion is good. The Dutch pancake is thinner crust which is very different from American fluffy ones. I personally still prefer the American one but worth to try if you haven’t taste the Dutch ones!

The pancakes here are amazing! Legit some of the best pancakes I've ever had! The coffee is good and the hot chocolate is great. We had to come back a second time for this as they are just that good. I can highly recommend the peach pancake with whipped cream and maple syrup! A must stop if you are in the area.

Food was amazing and seats are comfortable. Just the male server ruined the whole experience. He was very impatient to the elderly sitting behind us and to us. I almost thought I walked in to a “Karen’s Diner” He wasn’t very welcoming when everyone walked in the door, he just pointed with his finger saying: “ seat that table.” then he continued his chitchatting with his colleague. You can go to enjoy the food but don’t expect any good service!

Amazing Dutch pancakes. They have a great selection of Dutch, American and coffee here. We got a spread of it all and everything was amazing. Super friendly staff and quick service. It gets busy but sit and enjoy.

First time trying traditional Dutch pancakes and I love it! The service was great, with many smiles even though the place was completely full which I appreciated. I ordered the traditional Dutch pancakes with maple syrup and vanilla ice cream. The pancake was perfectly cooked, browned all over. The ice cream was heavy on the vanilla, just the way I like it. Overall 10/10 will definitely be back.

So good! Super big serving, and very tasty. Thin, crispy edge Dutch pancake. I got the spinach and fried egg pancake with bacon. I put syrup on half and pepper on the other half and it was great both ways. Friendly service that gave us a keychain after our meal! Good location, would have been pretty to sit outside had it been warmer. Decent wait time in the morning so plan ahead.

The broad selection of pancakes you can order is just incredible and they taste good. The prices aren‘t exactly the best, but I suppose they’re still (kinda) fair for Amsterdam. It took a little while for the pancakes to come and I got the impression that they get extremely busy during summer/spring, since even on a very cold day, we had to queue for a bit before getting a table. Their whipped cream was the best I‘d ever had.

American. … This place was delicious!! I’ve never had a “pancake” like this! So delicious! I got the ham and cheese pancake and added a fried egg on top. My girlfriend had the gluten free bacon and cheese pancake and it was very good as well! The fresh pressed OJ was good and we tried ACTUAL apple juice for the first time and it exceeded expectations. To my fellow Americans, come here. You will not be disappointed!

Visited this place for a quick breakfast, but with a long queue of about 30 minutes, I had to wait first. After being seated, I ordered a banana chocolate pancake with hot chocolate. The pancake was great, and the hot chocolate was spot on, but it just didn't feel particularly special. Additionally, I found it a bit overpriced. The staff seemed to be short-handed as well. Only three people were taking care of all the customers, and it was during the peak of the holiday season. Consequently, people had to wait for a very long time outside, around an hour.

PLEASANT EXPERIENCE BUT quite PRICEY ⭐️ Why four stars? ✨ extraordinary service (very kind, positive, calm) ✨ food came fast 💨 ✨ tasty, authentic and on point ❌ the quality/ the value proposition doesn’t match the higher price at all (even though they come in really big sizes) 15-20€ for pancakes? It’s up to YOU. Additional notes: ❗️ only possible to pay by card ❗️ not possible to split the money in the table ✨ free WIFI

The meals are really delicious. There are a lot of people during lunch time. The price are quite expensive, however the taste is worth it. The staff are also really generous, they even gave us a key ring of their restaurant.

First time trying dutch pancakes and was not disappointed. Order came out pretty quick and the size of the pancakes is pretty good. I ordered one of the savory ones with goat cheese which tasted amazing. Definitely would recommend for tourists wanting to try some local food.

Gluten free pancakes and a gluten-free menu! Plus, they sell the pancake flour mix so you can take it with you when you get home! The place was jam-packed, line out the door but we seemed to move in relatively quickly. Very cute!

The crepes were good. The staff was very friendly. The food was quick. The only reason I would not rate 5/5 was the wait and pricing. Wait was 45 minutes and slightly overpriced ($75 for 3 crepes, latte, OJ, tea). They seemed understaffed and well, it’s busy because people like us want to see what the big deal is about! The food definitely didn’t disappoint though. Still an experience I recommend if you don’t mind the wait and pricing point. An Amsterdam local food that should be on the list if you’re a foodie.

Stumbled upon this place after our visit to Anne Frank museum. Pancakes here are unforgettable, we visited again the following day! The staff is very friendly, clean and spacious restaurant. Great choices of savory and sweet Pancakes. This is a must for a visitor to Amsterdam!

great that it has a vegan menu. the vegan option is default gluten free as well. the Pancakes have a nice crispy top but on the bottom is gluggy dough. the vegan options have no protein option, only vegetables. The pesto was surprisingly salty but worked well with the savoury dish. the sweet Dutch pancakes do not come with vegan cream/ice cream which would have improved the dish significantly. i appreciate this place is open so early for breakfast

Worth trying even there was a long queue. Me and my friend are not heavy eaters so we shared one pancake. Really full tho. Big portion! And we added bacon and it was perfect choice. Recommend!

I liked the place. Nice and cozy environment and very close to Amsterdam Central Station. The breakfast was really good. We had pancakes. The coffee was really good too. We didn't have to wait for a long time. The staff was very friendly and polite. I would recommend it.

I fondly recall my visit to Pancakes Amsterdam back in 2017 as a delightful culinary experience, so much so that it ranked as one of the best spots in the city. Eager to relive that joy, I made it a point to return upon my latest trip to Amsterdam. Regrettably, this visit did not live up to my cherished memories. The pancakes themselves still hit some of the right notes, (We ordered #8 and #12). However, the coffee left much to be desired and failed to meet the standard one would expect from such an establishment. Service was passable, but an apparent lack of training was evident when it came to distinguishing between filter coffee and espresso – a basic yet crucial piece of knowledge for anyone in the food and beverage industry. While the atmosphere inside remains pleasant, the charm is somewhat overshadowed by the ongoing construction just outside the entrance, which detracts from the overall ambiance. It's also worth noting that the prices have seen a considerable hike, jumping from €9 to €16, which is a steep increase by any measure. In the past, I would have enthusiastically recommended Pancakes Amsterdam to anyone visiting the city. However, with the latest changes, I find myself hesitant to do so. The market is abundant with other venues that offer better value and quality, making it harder to justify a return to Pancakes Amsterdam at their current standing.

My visit to this delightful eatery turned out to be an unforgettable journey into the world of pancakes. Hands down, these are the best pancakes I’ve ever had. The texture was perfect - fluffy and light, yet rich in flavor, with each bite melting in my mouth. The variety of toppings available allowed for a personalized pancake experience that catered to every palate at the table. But what truly set this place apart was the charming little Dutch shoe souvenir given with the meal. It was a thoughtful touch that added a special element to the dining experience, making it not just about the food but also about creating lasting memories. The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and inviting, and the staff went out of their way to ensure we had a pleasant visit.

Very nice place, offers a variety of pancakes, both savory and sweet. You can ask for a specific menu with more information if you have dietary preferences. I tried the Veggie Pancake (made vegan) and it was excellent. The vegetables were tasty and fresh, and the pancake was perfect. The staff was nice and helpful. I recommend this place for a nice Dutch pancake experience!

Great tasting pancakes. We had the traditional bacon and apple pancake, it was thin, light, and tasty. Tyten was the nicest and best server! He’s polite and speaks well.

Must-go place for vegan pancakes in Amsterdam with great service!

  • 2/5 ma I. 2 years ago on Google
Dutch pancake breakfast, 14 euros was super disappointing... It was literally, as the menu states, only with a jam (and drinks), no other toppings. I wanted to try a dutch pancake, but it wasn't worth more than four euros for such a thin, small portion. The taste was ordinary. (I liked the plain American pancakes better) If you just want to try a dutch pancake, go find a cheaper place. Even with an I Amsterdam city card's discount, this breakfast menu is super overpriced.

Really fresh authentic stunning pancakes! Savoury options are as good as the sweet... there are Vegan options as well, and the service was fast. Huge queue when we arrived but it lives pretty quickly.

Absolutely breathtaking pancakes. Both the sweety ones and the salty styles are delicious. I got the one with Goat Cheese, Spinach and Seeds. it was a little bit oily but did not distorb my stomach. So tasty. Goat cheese is nice. The tea with a stroopwafel catering was nice. The pancake with banana was also delicious but the served chocolate is not good enough for such a taste. That may be the only bad vibe. They may use another brand of chocolate with more hazelnut taste. Prices are acceptable and the location is wonderful just by the canal and next to the Centraal. A beautiful place to get brakfast and ride through the canaks and the streets of Amsterdam. By the way, you might have to wait a few minutes to get in.

Great food and awesome service. We ordered ham and cheese & the strawberry and yogurt pancakes, both tasted really nice. The decoration of the shop is also lovely. I’ll definitely visit again next time!

We heard many great reviews so we had to try it out for ourselves. We queued up outside for a short time (worth it) and then we were greeted by lovely staff. The photos look amazing but they taste even better 💆🏼‍♀ Everything was spot on. Unfortunately we didn't choose the dutch style pancakes, but that just calls for another visit another time. 100% recommend 😋 (Huge thanks to the girl who gave me a little clog "Pancakes Amsterdam" keyring as a gift 💕)

What a bad place...it started with waiting for a place to sit. That is okay but how they comunicated that was not nice.We wanted to order lactose Free pancakes but the waiter couldn't say what is lactose free. The next waitress gave us the allergy menu.We decided for one with Bacon and a sweet one.The first one was too dry and burnt. It didn't taste good. The sweet one was too oily and also didn't taste good. For me really disappointing.A place that does ONLY pancakes is not good in making pancakes.Very sad!

A very good experience of service! Very well spoken in English too! We were first in line and a couple of people behind. A couple of females walked in (I guess they didn’t see the sign on the door to wait outside to be let in) and just sat themselves down on the 3 person table (the table that the waitress was cleaning so we as a 3 can sit on). They were told straight away by another waitress!

A fantastic morning fix to kickstart my day! I'd heard that pancakes were a must-try in Amsterdam, and I'm thrilled I tried these – absolutely delicious! Also, tried their special coffee, and it tasted pretty good. The service was spot on, with polite and attentive waitresses. A delightful start to the day!

Love the pancakes here. I don't remember much about the trip. 😁 Last time the pancake size was bigger. In 2016. Now they gave a smaller size. I'm not sure if I ordered something else. But definitely it's not like before

Best pancakes in Amsterdam, my favorite are goat cheese with spinach and pine nuts and the chicken with pesto; it's always worth it to let some space for a sweet pancake as dessert, I recommend to share it with two or more people and my favorite is apple crumble with vanilla ice cream. The American pancakes are also tasty and fluffy.

Lovely breakfast. I got the American pancakes with egg and bacon, the maple syrup was so nice. Staff and really friendly too. Luckily we just avoided the cues. Anytime we walk by there is always a 10 person cue here, but it moves quick.

Stopped by here after our train ride as it is so close to the station. Tried two of the pancakes, a savoury and sweet one. Loved how light and airy they were, did not feel too heavy. A great breakfast/brunch spot. The service is great, the people who work here are lovely.

There was a queue outside but it didn't take long to be seated. They have a vegan/gluten free menu as well as the regular one. Huge pancakes and they came quickly. The fresh pressed orange juice tasted sweet and delicious! Card payment only.

Food was great, I was happy to find a gluten free options. I was happy to experience a new kind of pancake! I got the apple • blueberry sauce • sour cream. My friends had a “make your own,” banana • almonds • chocolate sauce, and the American pancake with a side of bananas, and bacon. The staff was a little rushed but that happens at busy restaurants, we still enjoyed it! 🖤

I’ve been here twice. First time it was a discovery for me too. Super nice, warm atmosphere, good food with surprising ingredients in traditional Dutch pancake 🥞. Second time I brought a relative with me and we had to queue outside for quite some time as many people wanted to eat there. The wait was worth it! I also love the no gender toilet 🚻😄
