I
fondly
recall
my
visit
to
Pancakes
Amsterdam
back
in
2017
as
a
delightful
culinary
experience,
so
much
so
that
it
ranked
as
one
of
the
best
spots
in
the
city.
Eager
to
relive
that
joy,
I
made
it
a
point
to
return
upon
my
latest
trip
to
Amsterdam.
Regrettably,
this
visit
did
not
live
up
to
my
cherished
memories.
The
pancakes
themselves
still
hit
some
of
the
right
notes,
(We
ordered
#8
and
#12).
However,
the
coffee
left
much
to
be
desired
and
failed
to
meet
the
standard
one
would
expect
from
such
an
establishment.
Service
was
passable,
but
an
apparent
lack
of
training
was
evident
when
it
came
to
distinguishing
between
filter
coffee
and
espresso
–
a
basic
yet
crucial
piece
of
knowledge
for
anyone
in
the
food
and
beverage
industry.
While
the
atmosphere
inside
remains
pleasant,
the
charm
is
somewhat
overshadowed
by
the
ongoing
construction
just
outside
the
entrance,
which
detracts
from
the
overall
ambiance.
It's
also
worth
noting
that
the
prices
have
seen
a
considerable
hike,
jumping
from
€9
to
€16,
which
is
a
steep
increase
by
any
measure.
In
the
past,
I
would
have
enthusiastically
recommended
Pancakes
Amsterdam
to
anyone
visiting
the
city.
However,
with
the
latest
changes,
I
find
myself
hesitant
to
do
so.
The
market
is
abundant
with
other
venues
that
offer
better
value
and
quality,
making
it
harder
to
justify
a
return
to
Pancakes
Amsterdam
at
their
current
standing.
