Went with a group of 10 people. The waitress was super nice and called me one day before to ask if we wanted to order beforehand So that we could be served quickly. They allowed us to pay separately, which was a big plus. (visa accepted too) The food was great: I got the fried rice with chicken and then satay meat (3 skewers of each type of meat, 12 in total). Prices were fair, definitely not expensive considering it was Amsterdam

Ordered by phone and picked up the food very quickly with friendly service. The food was tasty and served well despite being packaged. I ordered the char kway teo and nasi lemak. Both were very tasty, i especially liked the char kway teo. I was expecting fried chicken with the nasi lemak instead of curry chicken but it was still very tasty. The blue rice did scare me at first, but texture and flavor were good.

A Malaysian restaurant for Malaysians who miss home food. Got the taste but still nothing compared to real Malaysian food. A quick fix for Malaysians who miss home food that is pedas and lemak. The restaurant is cosy for eating when outside is cold. There is toilet if you need to go urgently. When it's cold, there is a urge haha Service can be more friendly, especially to Asians. We went here for Dinner, the food was okay. I couldn't taste all the dishes cause they were pretty spicy for me. The Satay was very delicious, you could order it with different kind of meat/seafood. I really liked it. The rice dish was very special. I never had something like that before and if it wasn't so spicy I would order it again. The waitress was very kind.

The food was alright, but the service was extremely slow. We had a nasi lemak and laksa, but the laksa lacked flavor. The nasi lemak was good, but nothing amazing.

I tried Nasi lemak, it was the first time for me, I think it was good and I enjoyed it, but the aroma of the restaurant was so strong and it is saturated to me a little, maybe was part of the Malaysian experience. Price in the average, I spent 34 euros, starter, main and drink.

Great place with friendly staff! We got the dinner menu during lunch. They also customize the portion size for odd groups. They added a Samosa for us who were 5 instead of the normal serving of 4. The nasi goreng is must try. Also the coconut curry is one of the best I had. They also have many vegan options. So a good place to go out with your vegan friends. The vibe is also great with decorations, flowers and lights. Overall a great place for authentic Malaysian food.

We ordered the char kway teow, nasi lemak and curry laksa. The char kway teow didn't taste at all like the real thing from Singapore or Malaysia. Nasi Lemak and Curry Laksa were ok. The staff were friendly. Overall, too pricey for some comfort food.

Excellent! I tried out the Malaysian National Dish and was pleasantly surprised. The unique dish comes together with veggies, nuts, rice, chips, and a hard-boiled egg. The samosas were top quality. Very friendly and welcoming place for your Malaysian meal.

Happy to find some comfort food in central Amsterdam. Service level was subpar despite the fact that the restaurant was slow at that time. We had to sit ourselves and call for service. Not sure what the server was doing behind the counter that would prevent him for greeting customers. Food service was slow, taste wise, boleh tahan only…I have had better.

First time trying Malaysian cuisine and it was great experience! Atmosphere was chill and cool and staff were friendly. Fried noodles was a bit salty but in total was petty good.

Ordered the nasi lemak. The rice is not fragrant (still acceptable), What's unforgivable was the stale and hard fried anchovies that could slice your inner cheeks (it did mine), and the very miserable sight and taste of chicken. The curry chicken was so watery and bland that it gave the impression that they used a packet of paste (catered to milder palate) and made a pot from it. Also not sure what sort of curry it's supposed to be. The only reason I'm harsh because this was 20euros so I was expecting a more reasonable portion / quality of ingredients and taste. I felt that they did me dirty on every level. Friend ordered a laksa which was sub-par. My burning question is why does it come in a gigantic teacup-like bowl. How does one even eat out of it comfortably? Pulut hitam was good and not overly sweet. Price to quality is way off the mark. And if you're a Malaysian who's looking for a taste of home, I hope it doesn't disappoint you as much as it did me.

Food was amazing and staff was extremely friendly. If I had to criticize something it would be that the wait for our food seemed a tad lengthy but they were slammed with customers and ultimately, it was worth the wait. I would definitely go here again.

Authentic Malayan restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. The food is very nice and tasty, and prices absolutely reasonable. The location is cozy, warm and charatheristic. Also the service is kind, the only downside is that waiting time can be a bit longer than expected. Totally recommended.

super delish spot! Dined with a malaysian friend and she felt that the food was legit. Lip smacking tasty food. Finding vegan options has always been a problem with malaysian food but this restaurant gives you PLENTY of options! unfortunately, the wait for a bit too long for our liking but the apologetic staff made up for it with their kindness and their food

First time trying the Malaysian food, the taste is ok for me. The decorations are a bit old since this restaurant has been here for decades, the owner is a funny person.

Great Authentic Malaysian food. The waiter was knowledgeable on the menu items which helped me choose wisely off the menu. I went for the Satay grill which was amazing that I had to order it twice. The peanut sauce was immense. Not to mention the prawn starter which was a brilliant little crispy bomb. Washed the food down with ice lemon tea and tea tarik to end the meal. Excellent!

Great food and really affordable prices. Zeedijk area in Amsterdam is known for its good Asian food and this one is no exception and has been around for decades. Authentic good flavours and kind staff, simple setting but cozy. Make sure to make a reservation since it’s always full - but you can make them pretty last minute! We had the laksa and kari vegan (both recommended)!

It made me feel at home! Will come again when I have a craving!. Initially the place was quiet when I reached at 530pm but when it hit 630pm...it's almost full house! Happy to see local and tourist enjoy Malaysian food too! Maybe I was too hungry...I can manage only a photo of teh tarik^^

The staff of the restaurant is super kind, the atmosphere is cozy, the food and drinks are superb, the nasi lemak is a treat, both for the eyes, but most definitely for the taste buds. The Malaysian lemonade is a very well made choice as well, as the Sup Ayam Kari, if you like a well spiced soup And again, I suggest the nasi lemak, as it was delicious, and definitely some of the finest food Amsterdam has to offer 💜

Food is OK, on the salty side but not Malaysian. I added the Ayam Goreng appetizer and got 2 small pieces of chicken winglet. My Nasi Goreng is decent portioned. Drinks are expensive. So, i didn't bother. Like every reviewer has mentioned, the male waiter seemed to hate his job and expressed it throughly in the way he took my order and showed me my seat.

Food was okay at best but my god did it take a while to receive it. Took over am hour just to prepare a simple curry with rice. Goodness gracious

I love the nasi lemak so much 🤩 - What I noticed is that ventilation is very minimal which it is very important to have a good ventilated room during this pandemic. But I will for sure visiting again. Maybe in the summer time where the doors and windows are open.

I ordered chicken laksa, it’s reli nice, the chicken was sooo tender and the soup was rich. I went there on weekend, the house was full, but I waited for around 15mins to have a table, as I was only one person. So, reservation is preferable. Moreover, the servers and boss were very nice.

Nasi Lemak is beautifully done. If my house is near, I’d be a regular! I’ve had many meals of Nasi Lemak growing up and to find such nostalgic taste a long way from home…. What a special feeling. Thank you, Wau Malaysian Restaurant, from the sweet service to the delicious food made with care 💖

The owner is an annoying person, he kept checking and asking if we want to order food and not just drinks and doing unnecessary actions like changing decorations and forcing us to move and inteupt while we were eating. The waitress is nice and friendly

I have lived in Malaysia for a few years and in my opinion this restaurant serves pretty genuine Malay food. The nasi lemak dish was tasty, albeit the quantity was rather small. My companion had a good vegan dish (vegan rendang). She was very satisfied. The atmosphere is cozy and not luxurious. The service was super friendly. Terima kaseh! 🇲🇾

We ordered roti Canai, nasi lemak, nasi goreng dan satay. they were presented at 16deg celcius feels like haven. The taste is not bad but it took more than 30mins for the food to arrive. Thankfully there was complimentary Kerepek while waiting. The deco makes the whole restaurant feels like homeland. Thank you Restaurant Wau Malaysia for the delightful cuisine

I came here to have dinner. Ordered Nasi Lemak and Curry Laksa. Overall the flavor is off and does not taste authentic at all. Laksa is plain and I need to add spicy sauce get more flavor. Also, I can hardly find any chicken in the Nasi Lemak. I am a big fan of Malaysia food and this restaurant certainly is one of the worst I have had. I will not return.
