Best Indian restaurant out of India since a long time. After living in India, it’s hard to get authentic food. And we have really enjoyed the authentic atmosphere and the comfortable and cozy staying at the restaurant itself. It’s a really nice atmosphere. We have totally enjoyed our stay and all dishes have been very tasty. Thank you for the nice and pleasant stay we can really recommended it. Super tip for Indian dishes

Ashoka is on my list. Very nice overall. Polite and friendly staff. Food spicy is ultimate to make you enjoy every bite and wait for the next. The buryani is yummy. Wine selection seems variety but not the best in reality.

Oh it is splendid! After a long long time I had a perfect Indian taste. The biryani had correct amount of spiciness and you can even make it more spicier! We had paneer tandoori as starters which were amazing as well. And Rasmalai in dessert. Good veg options are available. And I totally recommend this place. I heard the samosa is great too.

Nice upscale restaurant with good service and tasty food. Ambience is very nice and you can visit this place for special occasions. Service is very good and delivery time is very fast. Food is a bit expensive for the serving size. Chicken in mint sauce is very tasty in appetizers. Dal makhani is also amazing for mains. They serve every main dish with white rice. Cost is around 40€ per person with one drink, one appetizer and one main dish.

Authentic Indian food! The restaurant is very nice, with a nice interior design. I have also got food delivered from this restaurant and the food never disappoints. What I like the most is that the food is actually really spicy, which is a bit rare for Indian restaurants in Amsterdam. And as always with Indian food, you will get a lot. Ca two meals. One of the best restaurants in Amsterdam!! If you are an Indian and searching for food the same as India must try this one!! 1. The owner and the staff were so kind and gentle. 2. The food was on top!! I was feeling like I am in India. 3. The Decoration is very rustic and cozy. The toilet was so clean. 4. The staff members were very friendly explained everything perfectly and the service was 10/10. 5. We took the menu veg (Sharing is caring) served for 4 persons cost 29.95 pp but we were three so the owner said you can less the one dish then he will not count the 4th person price. We did but I wanted to taste the paneer tikka masala on the menu so, in the end, he offered that!! Thank you🤩 6.We took the Mango kulfi at the end it just made my day!! So delicious and we talked to the owner At the end in Hindi and telling him that we are from France and we never had food like this in France or anywhere else so at the time of the billing he didn't even count the kulfi in the bill. Thank you for the kulfi too🤩 I definitely recommend this place 👏 7. All the things were 10/10. 8. Make sure you reserve the table before going because this place looks always full. we went yesterday for dinner the restaurant was full so the next day we reserved in advanced and it was worth it!! One of my favourite restaurants in Amsterdam! Half of their menu was suitable for vegetarians and everything was so authentic and delicious ! The decor was really beautiful too! One of the best food experiences I had! Highly highly recommend!

One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been to. I’ve been to plenty for sure. Great ambiance, excellent customer service and exceptional food. We ordered daal makhni, tikka tandoori masala, garlic naans and cheese naans. Everything was delicious and well cooked. Shai is a great host and treated us with great care. Solid 10/10

Absolutely delicious place! The quality of this place is just impressive. The staff is friendly. We were delighted to meet Pablo (from the bar), Mona and Pritisha. They were lovely and friendly, always helpful with nice recommendations. The food was a delight, juicy, tender and so fresh. My favorite was the tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala. We were here to celebrate the bachelorette party of my friend, and one of her favorite cuisines is Indian. We started off with some bubbles and then switched to some wine. Everything paired beautifully. We were running a bit late and they managed to do coffee for us really quickly! I can’t wait to come back!

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here at Ashoka. They have an incredibly large variety of dishes to choose from on the menu as well as many vegan / vegetarian options. The quality of the food is very good and it is clear that they use the best ingredients! The service was slightly slow but it was incredibly packed so I can't fault them on this. Additionally, our waitress was very attentive and kind which made the evening even better. Overall, it was a good experience and I highly recommend to visit here!

Nice Indian restaurant with friendly and responsive staff. Food is of large portion and very delicious. I recommend the chicken biryani which is served with a sort of yogurt sauce. Price is a bit high but understandable in this area.

This was an amazing find. The interior decoration is beautiful and really creates a great ambiance. The food was extremely tasty, and the staff were very welcoming. Our food did take a while to arrive but it was ok considering the ambiance was so nice. The only other issue was that the table was much too small to hold drinks and the food, so we had to push a lot of the items on our table to a nearby table. Out off all the dinners we had in Amsterdam, this was by far the nicest. Also, if you’re looking to see some red lights, there are some along this street. Definitely recommend trying this place if you like Indian food.

This restaurant is amazing! The decoration does not make it looks like Indian Restaurant. It looks so elegant and fine dining. The service is beyond expectations! The food is amazing, perfect portions and spice. We love it very much that the staff come to check if everything is ok. Reasonable price and absolutely recommended!

The restaurant is just 5 stars. The issue that I faced that they are slow on the services and we need a lot of time to get the requests then to give us the drinks then the food then the check! We felt sorry about this issue because the restaurant is really great.

Yo! this was a nice experience! Food was truly great! Service was very very nice. Prices are a tiny bit high but we happily paid it. Ambiance was modern, hipster and impressive.

It was wonderful experience to have lunch there.. the foods were utterly delicious, the staffs were very proactive and the overall ambience was superb. *just a quick catch, the prices for the foods in the menu are excl. 21% vat and will be charged on top of the total amount.

A great place for some freshly made Indian food. Food was tasty and spice level was to our choice. They're garlic naan is a MUST! The only negative is the lady at the door who greeted us said they're booked up and next time to book and come. They were busy but there were tables available. We're here for 2 days so won't be going again anytime soon so it was a bit weird. I'd rather her greet us nicely giving us a great experience and not act like everything was booked up.

Wonderful Indian cuisine restaurant. We sat at an outdoors table, linen service. Very attentive staff waited on our table. The Momos assorted appetizer was delicious. We shared a mixed Tandoori grill for our entree. Great experience all around. 😘🥰❤️

We ordered dumplings and a traditional Indian dish. The price of 9 dumplings is 22 euros!!!. As for the traditional dish, it was so spicy that we could only taste the pepper.... The prices are very high and not commensurate with the food. Only one thing we liked is the atmosphere and interior.

Friendly staff. We were lucky to have a table without prior reservations. Delicious Indian food but unexpectedly very expensive. We ordered Non-Veg Tasting Menu; cost €40.95 / person. They charged €81.90 for two persons which is ok but brought us only the meal for one person to be shared among the two of us; this is unfair. Resturant management need to re-consider this Tasting Menu.

Really excellent Indian food. The Mutton Taas was a particular highlight. Authentic taste, and actually spicy too which was great. Perhaps more expensive than other places as it is meant to be more of a fine dining experience, but the portion sizes were of a good size.

Hello my dear readers…Ashoka was the first Indian restaurant where I dined. The food and the ambiance were excellent. The service was wonderful…the nicest waitress who custom ordered our meal so that we would be able to enjoy our meal. I highly recommend this restaurant to all my readers.

Our Indian coworker brought us here, and we loved it. Of course my butter chicken was dreamy, but so was my friends lamb -- and I've never before liked lamb! Toilet is upstairs, so accessibility could be an issue.

Great atmosphere and the food was great. The stuff who serve us, on that evening was amazing, she surprised me with a small delight from the Kitchen with candles on it and turn on the Birthday music just for me. We did not expect anything but get everything. Fantastic!

Set in a beautiful place, Ashoka offers a variety of Indian dishes. The food took husband and I back to southern India. The cocktails are amazing too! However I recommend not taking more than two, they are pretty strong. Finally, the staff is amazingly friendly and attentive to food waste. We were offered a doggy bag to not throw out the rest of the food we had. It really was a great experience overall!

Service and staff were so helpful. All meals are delicious, it's not very special but a good place to enjoy a dinner. Vegan-non vegan selections are available but it is better to sit together otherwise they cannot serve the food separately unfortunately. I also tried some of those cocktails and they are average in taste, don't expect something special.

Very nice interior decorations. We had the fixed menu with lamb curry and chicken korma. The starters were nice and fresh. Overall the meal was ok not fantastic. For the price point and the reviews I expected more. The food was good but not great in my opinion.

I would say one of the finest India restaurant in central Amsterdam. You can reach there by walk. I had ordered chicken karahi and momos. I got the extra spicy sauce and it was mind blowing with the chicken momos. I would have rated 4.5 but the only issue was my curry had no salt. But all together a wonderful experience. Courteous staff. Good ambience.

Amazing food and great wine. We loved the atmosphere as well. The portions were so big so we wanted have some for take out, we were asked to pack it ourselves, rather than it being packed in the kitchen which was interesting for a fine dining restaurant. Overall very good experience.

The butter chicken at the Nepalese restaurant was flavorful, with a nice balance of spices. The briani was also well-seasoned and cooked to perfection with little spicy. The combination of the two dishes was a delicious and satisfying meal. I also tried the momo gyoza full of lamb meat and was delicious 🤤 the vibe and environment was great 👍🏻

We travel a lot and my husband is an Indian food enthusiast! We have to have it at least once on every trip, this time we were really disappointed ☹️. The place seemed nice and the service was good, we took a suggestion from the waiter and ordered a sample dish, it’s written in the menu as a 2 person dish 40 some thing euros. Food was decent , but when we received the check they had charged us with 2 orders and the amount of food was ridiculous (4 bites of chicken in a butter chicken) !!! We felt ripped of. Almost 100 euros a tan for very little food.

Came in for dinner with a Friend and we enjoyed the food. Me and my friend both being Indian appreciate flavourful Indian/Nepalese cuisine. Mutton Taka in starters was really good and so were the other dishes. The only objection I have is for Chicken Biryani which was sub-par and did not match the standard of other dishes. I would definitely like to visit the restaurant again.

We ordered the chef's tasting menu for 2 non-vegetarian 3-course and were very pleased with the amount of food, different dishes to taste and sides. I loved the non-alcohol cocktails and the atmosphere was great. We would eat here again!
