🫤 I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. While the food was impressive and I wouldn't rate it poorly, I was quite disappointed with the hospitality and treatment I received on my second visit with my Indian colleagues. Although we arrived early and the restaurant was empty, we were asked to move... People often mention restaurant, Indian, rice, good, amazing, ordered, delicious, staff, Amsterdam, chicken,

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. While the food was impressive and I wouldn't rate it poorly, I was quite disappointed with the hospitality and treatment I received on my second visit with my Indian colleagues. Although we arrived early and the restaurant was empty, we were asked to move to a different table in the corner with the explanation that the front tables are not usually preferred. This seemed strange but we ignored it and ordered starters and drinks. When the manager asked us about the main course, we explained that we were only interested in starters. However, the manager's response was unexpected and disrespectful - "Ohh, you're here only for starters? But you never told us that before?" This left us feeling disrespected and humiliated, and we considered leaving the restaurant but we stayed as we had already ordered the appetizers. I'm not sure if this was a regular occurrence or if Indians were being treated differently in an Indian restaurant, but it was unacceptable either way. As a result, I won't be returning to this restaurant. However, I must admit that I will miss the food which was delicious.

Quality Indian food right in the center of Amsterdam. My partner and I have walked past Memories of India many times and today we stopped in. Quite a surprise. Excellent quality food with the level of spice we both enjoy. I ordered the Paneer Makhni with rice, and enjoyed the creamy flavors of the paneer and the tomato cream sauce. My partner ordered the Palak Paneer and absolutely enjoyed every bite. For an appetizer we ordered the Onion Buhji and enjoyed the crispy spicy flavors. Service was excellent and the restaurant was not very crowded so the waiter was attentive.

We googled Indian restaurant in Amsterdam and this came up with good reviews. We were greeted by the staff and given one of the best table at the restaurant. Different kind of curries and grill were available. The food arrived pretty fast and was yummy. The waiting staff kept asking if everything was good. The owner of the restaurant was also a singer. He was doing live singing to entertain us. He had a pretty good voice. We also chatted with some of the waiting staff about their origin. Everyone was friendly and looked after us. All in all a great experience. Will visit again PS (food was halal)

Mediocre indian restaurant with decent food. Let's start it off with one thing that annoys me about restaurants. In the bathroom there was no hot water. That shows me just how cheap a place is. Now let's go to the food. I ordered saag paneer, bombay allu & bhindi masala. For bread, I went with onion kulcha, tandoori roti, & parantha. Onion Kulcha is supposed to be a stuffed tandoori parantha. Their kulcha had onions sprinkled on top. Cutting corners seems to be their philosophy. Food was decent but needed more spice. It wasn't anything to get excited about. There was no rice served to us but another customer asked if dishes come with rice & it was served. Also they don't do tap water. Only bottled water. More nickle & diming.🙄 Hopefully we will have time to go to other Indian restaurants during our stay in Amsterdam.

Very good and authentic Indian restaurant. Nice setting, nice staff. I recommend especially the lamb madras (a little spicy), the butter chicken and the garlic naan.

We had a Dinner gift coupon and were very hungry roaming amazing Amsterdam. We ordered 2 appetisers Keema samosa and chicken wings both were amazingly tasty. And with meal I took chicken biryani given with raita and my husband ordered chicken curry which was served with rice. I say all the dishes we tried was amazing. The waiter was unpleasant, he didn't know much English and he was too quick to us, even though the restaurant was empty. The food was underseasoned, I'm used to strong flavors and a real food experience, so I expected it to be much better. Instead of 2x naan, they gave us 1xrice and 1x naan, but the rice was tastier in the end:-)The overall experience and environment was not pleasant. If you're hungry, you'll eat food there, but it's definitely not worth it. The price for the sauce (relatively small portion) was 19.95€ and up, finitely not worth that much money. We had two coca-colas and the waiter didn’t open the drink for us at the table, but he brought it already open, that seemed strange to me, the coca cola from the glass tasted like cola from the postmix (€3.5 for 200 ml). We don’t recommend it:-(

We visited this place around 10PM on Friday. Not too busy. We were apprehensive about eating Indian food in Amsterdam but we were surprised by the quality of food. Ordered a non veg Thali and everything was tasty. At least better than what we get in the US. Finally ended with a Kulfi which also was amazing. Recommend to anyone in the area.

I'm fond of spicy food and they used to make their curries really hot. This is not really happening anymore, which is sad. I always ask for extra spicy vindaloo as a standing order, recently I could eat it all without any issues. That's not what I'm looking for. Not too authentic according to an Indian colleague.

We have recently been to Amsterdam and was searching for some good Indian restaurant and then we went to this restaurant on our first day of trip. And after having our first dinner there we liked it soo much that we went there for consecutive 3 days. The food is just delicious and yummy. Staff is very polite and provides quick service. We had dishes like Chicken madrasi, Chicken balti and Paneer Korma. Also on our last day they had given us delicious Kulfi from there side which is really a sweet gesture. They also have live singing performance so you can enjoy your dinner with the music. All and all if you are in Amsterdam and fan of Indian food do visit this restaurant.

Tasty food I wanted medium to hot and my daughter wanted mild and we both got what we wanted , we had a four gang menu with social deal , the chicken wings were hot they made my eyes water , but I loved them , you get rice with the social deal but if you want nan or other bread you need to pay extra , it would be better if you had a choice with the deal

Came quite late at night looking for a place to eat and entered this place. The reviews weren’t too bad however I should have listened to the reviews about the waiters making them feel rushed to eat. Because as delicious as the food was, the pressure to finish up eating and leaving was crazy. Every second someone was side eyeing us, walking past slowly ready to take anything that was emptied. Second drinks weren’t offered. We were asked if everything was okay with the food before it entered our mouths. Like I said, the food was delicious however the service really let us down. I understand we came an over an hour before closing but if they didn’t want us there, they should have just said no. It didn’t help that we were seated at the uttermost corner as well.

Oh wow, this food is good! We ordered online last week and were pleasantly surprised. This week we went to the restaurant because the food is sooo delicious. Lots of vegetarian options. Definitely try the Panir Tikka Tandoori cooked in the tandoor. YUM!! This will be our go-to Indian restaurant from now on.

The food is amazing. Having travelled around the continent, this is one of the handful of places serving authentic food that tastes like it's come right out of the streets of Delhi. The food is customisable in terms of spices. Be sure to tell the staff how you want it. The service is super quick and the staff is extremely friendly. The ambience is great, with old reminiscent Indian music playing lightly in the background. The owner himself is a singer and sometimes performs at the restaurant. If you have any Hindi songs you're fond of, just ask and he just might perform them for you. Recommendations: Saag chicken, Chicken Jalfrezi, Palak paneer and Kingfisher beer.

Amazing night at Memories of India. The food is authentic Indian. The gulab jamun and pesta kulfi were out of the world. We loved spending the 1st evening of 2023 here. The owner, Mr. Sharma is a very jolly person who also sang a song for the evening guests. He is an avid Kumar Sanu fan. The ambience of the restaurant is really classy. Definitely recommended for a warm evening in this cold winter.

Absolutely delicious! Great service and food was incredible. They have platforms that keep the food warm while you eat and a hot hand towel at the end of the meal was a nice touch. Will definitely be coming here again. Thank you!

Great ambience, typical of a north Indian restaurant. Nice slow bollywood retro music playing in the background was a delightful experience. Tomato, fish soup were good, mulligatawny soup was average. Indian dips and papad were yummy. Main course, namely Lamb Balti and Chicken Green Curry were a bit high on spice. Garlic naan and garlic rice were amazing and well cooked. Service was excellent and the manager made us comfortable by speaking in Hindi which was a pleasant experience miles away from home .

Please be alert: 1) you order two drinks: ginger tea and Spa with bubbles. You have to pay for the Spa 6 euro. The waiter let you pay for the whole bottle of 1 liter. (Never asked for 1 liter Spa). 2) one menu with rice incl. and one menu with Naan incl. The waiter let you pay 2,95 for the Naan. Yes sir, I served you two portions of rice. (Never asked a double portion rice). So this is their way of doing business, protest was waved away. Never again guys, felt so mistreated. Bad Memories of this Indian restaurant !!!

We had dinner at Memories of India on a quiet Wednesday night early in the evening due to the new lockdown hours. The restaurant plays pleasant traditional music and the owner and his team are just wonderful. The food; we are vegetarian; the mushrooms, okra and Palak Paneer were perfectly seasoned and delicious. We had a just perfect time ❤️ We have lived in Amsterdam for over 10 years and think we have found our favorite Indian place.

Great Indian dining experience!! My boyfriend and I went with the social deal offer and had an amazing three course menu for a super fair price. All dishes came with an amazing set of sauces/ dips and their rice pudding desert is to die for. The two waiters were super friendly and eager to provide a great service. Overall, highly recommended.

So many choices of restaurants in this neighborhood. Would recommend Memories for Indian food. I can tell a good Indian just by the Pompodom and relishes which vary between spicy and aromatic . Chicken Baltic tasty and nice non greasy Nan. Price fair.
