Amazing European fusion cuisine with French influence! My first Michelin star experience in NL in an excellent restaurant with beautiful view to the Dam square! We had the five course menu and I found the lobster dish divine. Amazing flavour combining fusion European cuisine with some Indian spices. The duck dish was also supertasty accompanied with a bread with hazelnut butter! The service also was amazing! Very professional and helpful! I will certainly back again ! I totally recommend it!

We love the TwentySeven bar and when we read that Bougainville got a well deserved Michelin star we decided to dine here tonight. Is on the top floor of the hotel, the portier downstairs will take care of your coat, and you will take elevator to the dining room. We started off with a glass of vintage Champagne, selected 7 course meal with 1/2 glass wine pairing for each, as we are here to taste the food and not to get to intoxicated. For that we go to the bar Twenty Seven. The wait staff was like playing orchestra! All our meals were served simultaneously, and the table was cleaned up in the same manner. Food was creative, well prepared, and perfect portions. I truly enjoyed the dinner here. Total for 2 people was €385 which I find to be a good price for the outstanding quality dinner we had

It was my first time at Michelin rated restaurant. As all first times, this one flew in a blink of an eye (spent there ~3-4h). Everything was excellent; from the greetings at the lobby to paying the bill. Tasting menu was stunning and memorable, even next day I can feel all those emotions. Wines were perfectly selected for each meal, applause for the sommelier! Thank you for my amazing first time at Michelin restaurant!

One of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam! For a very special occasion you can try the dining experience! It's Michelin star quality! It's amazing everything! Totally recommended! You can also go for a coffee in the morning or do the breakfast experience which is also very very good! The service is excellent, the atmosphere, the music, everything is perfect. But above all I recommend the dining experience you will be fascinated (the photos are from the breakfast experience).

What can I say? Perfect. You will have a perfect night here. 🤩 I was staying at the hotel and they make sure that guests can eat here! That's freaking cool 😎 So I'm gonna post pictures of food but I'm not describing, it's all good. The entire meal was a highlight as were the drinks.😁

Had a great time at Bougainville. Delicious food and a few absolute memorable dishes. Great wine pairing. Service was also good, with some small inconsistencies when the person taking care of the table would change.

Wow this was probably the best dining experience of my life. The 5 of us went to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. The resturant is rated as “the best Resturant in the world” which recently earned a Michelin star. The moment we entered this historic building in the heart of Amsterdam we were made to feel at home. We were t for a chefs surprise menu and wine pairing. The best part was how we were treated by the team. The Somaliare was more keen to get our feedback vs “educating us about the wines”. The host was keen to also get feedback on the food. We actually didn’t like one of the dishes and it was promptly replaced with another one. Can’t say enough about the ambiance and the courteous treatment which made us all feel right at home. Highly recommend you secure a reservation in this boutique hotel/resturant setup.

Good restaurant, but with a few notes. Restaurant Bougainville is located on Dam Square, right next to the main monument. It’s in a historical building, which is maintained in a classic style. Upon entering, the staff is well informed and expecting you. This is a touch that really adds to the experience. You are guided to your table, and a glass of champagne is offered to start the evening. The menu is explained, after which you are treated to some tasty amuses. We chose the 6 course with wine pairing. Te staff is already aware about previously communicated allergies or preferences. Compliments! Menu. The dishes are varied between courses and very tasty. Presented well and however tasty, the flavour combinations felt slightly “on the safe side”. The lobster in its sauce was nothing short of spectacular though. Note that on the veal, even though presented as a side dish, the main star definitely was the sweetbread. Overall portions are not very large, but you will not leave the table hungry. Wines. We chose the pairing for the menu. Personally not knowledgeable about wines, but the selection felt a little on the safe side. The wines were tasty though, and Bougainville has an interesting approach to the presentation, allowing for speculation and interaction with the sommelier should you so desire. Unfortunately, the timing of being served your wine felt off, with the wine arriving 15 mins before the dish. Combined with the noticeably little amount being poured initially (2-3 sips), it happened that a dish was halfway being finished, with empty glasses. This feels cheap, and was a definite let-down. Price/value/amount, I would not order the pairing again. Perhaps ordering a bottle is better. Staff is friendly and professional. Appearing only at the table when required, and vigilant in case you need something. Small note regarding the wine, as mentioned above. Reception is great, and English is no problem. All in all, I give restaurant Bougainville a recommendation, but with a few notes.

We had an unforgettable meal. It’s not easy to remember each of the seven courses, but the dinner was fabulous as was the wine pairing. Our servers were practiced and coordinated. They worked as a precision team. The food was unique. The flavors were fresh and delightful. I highly recommend the Restaurant Bougainville to anyone who wishes to experience fine dining in the heart or Amsterdam. This restaurant is worthy of their Michelin star rating.

Reservation was easy. The restaurant attended to our request and provided us a table with beautiful view over Dam Square. The restaurant itself was gorgeous. The team was attentive and friendly. They were full of energy, always smiling. The food was the highlight. High quality ingredients and creative menu. The platings were pretty as well. The experience was definitely Michelin standard!

A truly excellent meal. Bougainville was fun, professional, and well dressed with damn good food. I will state—off the bat—that I feel it’s almost deserving of 2 stars. Staff/service: 9/10 Ambiance/decor: 8.5/10 Food/drinks: 8/10 Our meal lasted 4 hours (a true feast). The tasting menu was creative and delicious with all courses perfectly spaced out. (Often times I find the next course comes too quickly or too slowly. Timing, I think, is one of the most important factors of a restaurant elevating itself to the next level.) The staff also met us where we were: when we asked serious questions, they responded seriously; when we joked around, they engaged in the frivolity. Again, this kind of interaction is hard to master, as it requires employees who are empathetic, focused, confident, and can read the room. The food was beautiful and very tasty, and the wine pairing hit the mark. Highly recommended. I hope to eat there again in the future!

This was one of our best experiences in Amsterdam. This was impeccable, food wonderful service, a beautiful venue. It was an easy walk from our hotel. Everyone working there was so thoughtful and nice. We did the tasting menu with the wine pairing, and every course was better than the last the food was beautiful. We really enjoyed the entire experience and can’t wait to go back. If you are in Amsterdam you must visit this restaurant it is the perfect date night.

My Husband and I were staying at Hotel 27 for a few nights and we were going to eat at restaurants on the fly. The Hotel concierge was able to get us a table at Bougainville and we are so happy she did!! Restaurant Bougainville was a wonderful addition to our trip. The decor was beautiful, elegant and comfortable, it was welcoming rather than stuffy and pretentious. We ordered cocktails, their version of an old fashion and a version of an ape roll spritz. Both we so perfectly delicious. We didn’t do the tasting, we wanted to try too many dishes. The oysters from Ireland were absolutely amazing. We ordered the A-5 Kobe steak and that was some serious deliciousness!!! Excellently prepared. All the accoutrements were delicious and quite a treat to eat. We ordered all the desserts but our favorite was the soufflé, and the strawberry dessert was delicious too. The Chef is very talented and we hope that he will be getting another Michelin star soon. He deserves it!

This restaurant is truly excellent in all aspects: dishes were aesthetically designed and eye-popping; food was elegantly delicious and glamorous; service was impeccable and attentive; environment was warm and classy. This is the exclamation point to our trip and an unforgettable night . I have dined at many Michelin stared restaurants all over the world, and many in the U.S. I would say this restaurant beats out many Michelin one stars and deserves a 2 star. One thing I would recommend for all the future dinners, that its dress code is at least 'business casual', although Bougainville told me it's 'smart casual'. We were a little underdressed. It's a little embarrassing.

Simple divine! I opted for the vegan menu and my partner had the experience tasting menu. I was so impressed for the dishes that came in mine, they nailed the Asian twists! The highlights for me was the pear ice cream for dessert, the gado gado which had the correct Asian style peanut sauce and not the usual Dutch ‘peanut butter’ version and of course, the green curry dish with lentils. We could not fault anything - top notch service, food and drinks. If you’re in Amsterdam looking to dine at it’s finest, Bougainville it is!

This is a cosy Michelin starred restaurant inside an exotic turn of the century industrial club that is now a hotel. The building has all the quiet relaxed atmosphere of an Edwardian gentleman's club and this carries into the restaurant which has large sofas instead of hard chairs. The food is excellent and has tasting courses accompanied by wine and the service is fantastic

We had an absolutely stellar dinner at Bougainville. What a delight. The food, the wine, the service, the atmosphere and the entirety of the experience, everything was just simply flawless. The food was really creative, yet elegant, flavorful and not over the top creative for creativity’s sake. The wine pairing, and their original approach of not telling you too much about the wines until after you had tasted them in combination with the food, was really great. I can’t say enough positive things about our night at Bougainville - absolutely top notch.

Just amazing! After going to several Michelin restaurants, we've had the best experience here. We ordered the 7 course menu, that had sophisticated, interesting and tasty dishes. The crew was very professional, especially the sommelier that fitted us an amazing bottle for the meal and a glass for dessert. Thank you for a great evening!

Bougainville has left an indelible mark on our culinary journey, providing an exceptional dining experience that deserves to be celebrated. From the moment we stepped in, the ambiance set the stage for a delightful evening. The food surpassed all expectations, each dish a symphony of flavors. The service was impeccable. Attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely invested in ensuring our satisfaction, the staff elevated our dining experience. What truly stood out was their flexibility. After informing them - on the stop - that we would not be drinking alcohol, we were pleasantly surprised when, at the last minute, they crafted a non-alcoholic drink pairing that perfectly complemented the entire menu. This level of consideration is truly commendable.

The best dining experience I have ever done in my entire life. Even as a solo traveler, the staff treated me like absolute royalty and I was never ‘alone’ as the staffers were constantly checking on me and making sure I was happy. They also gave me a wonderful table overlooking Dam Square! The tasting menu was tastefully done, had well spaced-out courses, and the most INCREDIBLE wine pairings. The sommelier is a genius! If you are wondering which Michelin star restaurant to visit in Amsterdam, do not hesitate to book this one.

My memories of our night at Bougainville conjure smiles on my face. I loved the informal but highly professional vibe of the team and their fantastic service and the food was simply outstanding. We enjoyed a 5 course dinner with accompanying wines and the tastes created a perfect symphony. Love this place. They only tiny dissonant for me personally is the slightly ecstatic taste in interior design. However, the class of the cuisine and the service are remarkable.

Bougainville is the first location that has been awarded with a Michelin star where I have dined. Despite having dined at various establishments that are very renowned I have to admit that Bougainville has exceeded my expectations in terms of food and service. The food was just perfect, both the full dining experience and the accompanying wines was perfect and the service made it even better. If you are able to afford it, this is definitely a must go.

Absolutely fantastic experience! We took the 5 course chef’s menu with wine paring. The food was really well presented and tasted great, and the wines fit well. The service was terrific, as you’d expect from a place like this. Definitely worth a visit!

Perfect. Everything was superb! We took 6 course menu with wine pairing. The food was top level, interesting but always tasty as well. The wine pairing is robust and they first pour and only after you finish let you know what you drink. Nice concept. The staff are great as well. Extremely professional but with a relaxed vibe.

Love all the 5 course menu, everything was pretty good. Specially first 2 course was amazing, the meat was well cooked, not very into the dessert, but the hibicus drink from egypt was nice

We made our reservation well in advance after reading other lovely reviews, yet nothing could prepare us for the fantastic evening we had in store for us. We opted for the 6-course menu and wine pairing. As others mentioned in their reviews, the service was impeccable. The staff was so in sync that it felt like a dance as they’d bring us our next course in tandem. They were kind, informative, and attentive. Each course was described upon serving, though they intentionally didn’t tell us anything about the wines until after we’d finished our glass. We loved this! It helped us really focus on the characteristics of the wine and come up with our own ideas instead of being influenced by knowing the type and notes ahead of time. Fair warning, while the pace of the food and wine was truly excellent- you will probably get a bit tipsy by the end of your meal! Especially for those doing the 5-7 courses with wine pairing. Luckily the staff was quite gracious with us and seemed to be enjoying the night as well. This was such a wonderful, memorable experience. Probably the best meal either of us have ever had (and we’ve been to many delicious places!). If you go, please take your time. Enjoy the complexities of the flavors and structure to each course (and the pre-meal bites!). Engage meaningfully with the staff and with the meal and you will leave enriched in heart, stomach, and soul. Thank you so much to the staff! We will remember this night forever.

Today we went to Bougainville for „The Bougainville Breakfast Experience“. Can‘t imagine a better breakfast. The food was awesome and the service was excellent. Very well timed they served some small, delicious dishes, while we had bread, cheese, dips, vegetables, croissants, etc. on the table. The menu continued with some small sweet plates, which were so good. Cappuccino and fresh juice were delicious as well. We skipped the meat, so we had vegetarian + fish, and the vegetarian alternatives were very good. So we can really recommend it for vegetarians as well. Starting the day like this was just perfect.

Bougainville provided us with one of the most exquisite dinners we had in a Michelin star restaurant in Amsterdam. The amuses were well thought out and got us very excited for the rest of the meal. For many of the dishes, the flavors had a lot of Asian influence in a very nice and subtle way that is no way overwhelming. They also serve a seaweed bread with butter which was definitely a memorable side at the start. It is really hard to say what was the favorite dish as all of them had something special from the cured eggs yolks over langoustine and caviar to the mouth watering chicken main course and their A5 wagyu served with shiitake. The pre dessert was a perfect transition from the main savory dishes to the sweetness that the dessert brought us. The pairings really went well with the food. We loved every thing about it. Thanks to the chef and the fantastic team for the memorable night.
