Do not come here without a reservation. They only have 4 tables available and it’s unlikely you can just walk in. It’s a very small and historical place. We got the strawberry and chocolate and coconut pancake which were fantastic. I recommend coming here for a stop and enjoying the great hospitality. It’s almost like a tiny attic. The cream is fantastic which is the star.

What a unique place in Amsterdam for some amazing Dutch pancakes! Group of four and we each ordered one to share and nothing disappointed us at all! This is a cozy and well decorated place but small. Highly recommended to make a reservation as it seems to book up every day. The stairs are steep so be aware of this also. We had two sweet and two savory. Pulled beef and the bacon honey and Brie for the savory. The strawberry and the pear for the sweet. The whipped cream is amazing. If you enjoy a nice pancake (blin) in a cozy and eclectic atmosphere this is your place!

It’s sorta crepes sorta pancakes. We had strawberries and tomato-bacon-cheese ones. They are delicious. Best pancakes I have eaten. And I make pretty good pancakes and crepes. Small place with just 4 small tables. Rsvp is a must. I wanted to come back the next day right after I stuffed my face and they told me it was fully booked. So yeah you get the idea

Hidden in the second floor, access by a steep flight of stairs. Tiny restaurant with 4 tables. Very delightful pancakes. We had a wonderful time. Reservatiom absolutely needed.

This was our lunch spot for our first full day in Amsterdam 12/2023. We took a chance and showed up when they opened, no reservation and got in! Two couples, we had the Brie, bacon & honey (Wow!), banana cinnamon (OMG!) and a chocolate & cherry (amazing!). All were light and flavorful, delicious! The guys there were friendly and helpful and fun. Shared stories about the Beastie Boys and Anthony Bourdain eating there and getting coverage from a number of other travel / food television shows! We understand why. Great place! Stairs are steep, but worth the climb! (Take your time, you’ve got this!) Worth every bite! Loved this place, will be back!

The pancakes were delicious and there are many different and unique flavours. The place only has 4 tables which is “the smallest restaurant in Europe”, so make sure you reserve you spot before coming! The staffs were welcoming and helpful, the interior was cute with cute pots on the ceiling. You have to go through a narrow and steep staircase to get to the place so might not be the best for disabled people/trolley/elderly.

5 stars because the good was really good, yes it was pancakes but they do them very well. The price seemed reasonable compared to other pancake places. The atmosphere was like sitting down at their kitchen table and having a personal meal instead of a restaurant full people talking loudly. There are four tables total and one was could only fit 3 people. The owners are the hostess and cook. Very nice and personable and speak good English. Just a very nice cozy place to get great food and be out of the crowds.

Whenever I crave pancakes I have to go to this restaurant. The Pancakehouse Upstairs is a cozy pancake place with lovely people. Since there are only four tables it is highly recommended to make a reservation! My favorite pancake is the Kai (bacon, brie and honey) the perfect combination of sweet and savory.

This was actually our second visit. We actually came here 5 Years and sat in the sat splits too. Would recommend to book in advance, the lady who was on the phones advised 1 week ahead. When we arrived we were seated within minutes. The place is quite cosy, it’s literally 4 tables. We ordered 2 pancakes, One savoury and one sweet. Not much has changed, and that’s in a good way. Quality is definitely consistent here! Me & Mister polished our dishes within minutes. Payment is cash or Maestro which seems to be the norm in most places in Amsterdam. We left a 10% tip, made our way down the steep stairs.

This is a sweet little gem we visited in the summer! We didn't have a reservation but they squeezed us in and we were very grateful. The food was delicious and the decor is super cute. Be prepared to climb stairs, it is not wheelchair accessible.

Pancakes were the best we had in Amsterdam. I would recommend booking as there are only 4 tables so we were extremely lucky to get it. I had bananas and chocolate which was very good.

A flight of steep staircase almost 90°. No worries, just hold the handrail and climb slowly. We are from Malaysia, so we are not able to make phone bookings with them. We tried our luck and turned up in the afternoon on a rainy day. The staff managed to slot us in between the next appointment. Food was served promptly and delicious as described in many Google reviews. Really worth a try. Hanging teapots add to the overall vibe.

Very original place, make sure you don’t wear heels as to access the restaurant you need to go through a very steep stairs, hence the name of the place. Small restaurant - only 4 tables, so make sure either you go early or book in advance. Pancakes do not disappoint! My one was with brie cheese and bacon and it was absolutely amazing! It’s out of the touristic trap but centric enough -5 min by bike from Centraal Station.

Yummy pancakes are served here. The place is tiny and has only four tables so you need to reserve ahead of time to go here. You do have to climb steep stairs to get to it.

Very quaint and tiny cafe offering delicious pancakes. Worth the visit up the steep steps to the second floor. Teapot decorations on ceiling add to the overall vibe! I enjoyed raspberry and rhubarb pancakes (the special of the day) with a coffee! Note: cash only

I LOVE THIS PLACE. Three tables. One menu full of pancakes. What more could you ask? This is seriously cutest, most charming little Dutch spot I ever did see. A must in Amsterdam!!! Call ahead or just walk in. You’d think it would be impossible to get in since there’s only 3 tables but we easily got a table when we visited. Pancake was AMAZING. A tiny spot at the top of a near-vertical climb (seriously, it’s practically a ladder LOL) but I don’t think I’ve ever loved a tiny little restaurant more. Seriously, do not miss this in Amsterdam!!!

A cozy hidden gem in the center of Amsterdam! Pleasant home-like atmosphere and the owners are very nice. Make sure to book in advance as there are only three tables.

Delicious and filling! I had the Miranda pancake and it was very tasty! The ambiance is quaint in a 16th century convent turned hospital turned family home turned restaurant. Only a handful of tables so reservations are required and no credit cards are accepted so be prepared for that. The owner is very engaging and interesting! The other staff member is very polite and professional. Highly recommended!!!!!

The lady needed a sweet snack before a proper meal. She found this pancake house and was expecting fluffy-style pancakes. It turns out they are crepe-like! The menu looked good, especially with the savory items. But since we were having lunch soon, we stuck to sweet and the day's special. I have no idea how often the specials rotate, so buyer beware. Also, the cream was rich, but really good. If you are not into whip cream like myself, still give it a try. It is sweet and does not taste artificial. The place is cash only sadly, hopefully they can take contactless some time in the future. Watch out foe the stairs, they are narrow, small, and steep!

Reservations are a must for this small restaurant serving savory and sweet pancakes. There are only a few tables inside (I think I counted 8 small tables). We got seated by the window and it was pretty nice to people-watch. All of the dishes start with Dutch pancakes as the base with different toppings both sweet and savory. We had the Savory pulled beef pancakes and the Kai (bacon, brie cheese and honey) pancakes which were delicious. The Kai pancakes were our favorite because it was the perfect mix of sweet and savory. We then split the King Pancakes for dessert (strawberries and cream). It was a 10/10 dining experience. Because it’s such a small space, you really feel an intimate family vibe. The staff was really friendly even though we came in without a reservation. They were able to seat us later in the day. We were looking for traditional dutch pancakes and were not disappointed here. We plan to come back on our next visit.

This is my all-time favorite restaurant. I’ve visited Amsterdam once a year for a decade, and one of the reasons I keep coming back is to have a meal here. Every single time, the food is amazing - almost magical. The staff are also all great - super funny, and ready to share hilarious stories, if they have a chance to talk for a little longer. There are strict rules about punctuality here, which makes sense given the size of the space - make sure that you arrive on time if not a little bit early. I’ve seen groups get turned away if they arrive too late, but you’re given that information when you make a reservation here. So, just make sure you arrive on time, and you’ll have one of the best meals of your life.

Europe's smallest restaurant! Only four tables. Really great pankakes, and willing to let you make special orders. As pictured, Hawaii with bacon minus cream. Bring cash!

Fantastic experience, atmosphere, service and food. Highly recommend for anyone traveling in Amsterdam. It is a very small restaurant though (5 tables) so get there early for amazing pancakes!

I went when they opened at 12pm and all I can say is I am very lucky!!! As I learned they are fully booked out that day and usually reservations has to be made. Anyways I got myself a banana pancake, it was so delightful.. I couldn’t believe how good it was with just simply the icing sugar & whipped cream! So glad I got to try this local dish. Fyi steps are so steep hahah

Had a late breakfast/brunch at the Pancakehouse Upstairs. The service was extraordinary and food hit the spot. The pancake needed a bit of sugar/syrup but portions were good and the eggs with ham and cheese were good.

Amazing pancakes, both savoury and sweet. Make sure to arrive early as there are only 4 tables. Also, the stairs are incredibly steep and is not accessible for those requiring assistance.

The best pannekoeken we've ever eaten. We recommend the pannekoeken with banana and cinnamon and pannekoeken with strawberries and blueberries. Great ambience, nice service, fantastic food.

Best pancake of my life!!! I had the Queens pancake, best decision of my life! My friend regretted not taking it, but hers was great too. I’m not being sarcastic, it was genuinely the best culinary experience of my life. I would come back to Amsterdam to go this place to have another best day of my life. 100% recommended. Full stars!

beautiful place to eat dutch pancakes! A reservation is highly recommended since the place is small and there are only a few tables. To reach the tables you need to climb up steep and narrow stairs but it is worth it! The cafe is beautifully decorated and the pancakes are delicious but quite expensive. If you come by Amsterdam it is definitely an experience I recommend.

Super cute, and incredibly delicious if you’re able to get a table. Reservations are highly recommended but they do walk ins for the the first 6-10? people that show up on their first hour of opening. The King with homemade cream and strawberries is to die for!

A very cozy restaurant in the middle of the city center and perfect to try real Dutch Pancakes. As it only has 4 tables it is important to reserve upfront. The pancakes were delicious (try sweet and savory flavors) and the owners were there to give us recommendations and they were sooo nice :) !! 100% recommended.

The place has got only 4 tables so make sure to call to book ahead. I really liked the texture of the pancakes, fluffier and thicker than French crepes. We had the salami and cheese, loved it, plenty of cheese! Also had the chocolate and coconut which was also good.

Loved this place! So nicely decorated inside but you have to remember there is only four tables. Recommend calling for reservations. Pancakes were very tasty and the staff very friendly. A must go when in Amsterdam.

The best pancakes I’ve ever eaten, in the most intimate setting; like being in your nanny’s front room. I had the special; whipped cream and stewed strawberries and it was so delicious. We turned up half an hour before opening and still had to queue so reserve and turn up ON TIME.

👍 Nice place, it was busy and the seating is limited, so we had to wait for a table. The pancakes were freshly made and delicious. They have uniquely toppings and style of pancake.
