My favourite restaurant/pub in Amsterdam city. Staff is always very friendly. Food is very tasty, can recommend you Amsterdam plater, burgers and spicy wedges with sauce. For the drinks you don’t have to wait even 1 minute. For sure will visit soon :)

A good place to sit by and have a couple of drinks. The pub has a large area to sit outside. I tried gluhwein which was not bad but had better ones before.

Fantastic pub in the middle of Amsterdam! Spend last weekend in this beautiful city and both days I visited this pub. Luckily they had the Liverpool game on! Service amazing, staff super friendly (Especially the Frank De Boer lookalike manager) and very welcoming! Excellent selections of beers too! If you are in Amsterdam, I highly recommend paying this place a visit! We will be back!

If I could give less than a star I would. Got a pint which was ok. Noticed the glass was chipped, brought it to the bar and the barman gave no apology, poured my beer into a warm glass which I discovered when I returned to my seat had another chip. Went there for a taste of home on my break, left with a bad taste in my mouth about how Irish bars are run in Amsterdam. Avoid at all costs.

St James's Gate had a good friendly atmosphere, very pleasant staff. The food was acceptable and priced competitively. Not sure about the "Irish themed bar" being from Ireland, I didn't get that vib but very nice place all the same.

The food was ok, but check your bill. We each had a chicken sandwich and a beer. The first bill was for over 85 euros. When we asked them to fix it, the second bill was for over 60 euros. Again, we had to ask them to fix it. Finally we got the correct bill (around 45 euros). We were charged 2 euros for mustard.

Really friendly staff! (And cute!) The food was really good and the waiter was so friendly! He even made me a bloody mary despite it being on the menu! 10/10 will recommend! But sadly the mens bathroom was one of the filthiest I've seen on this trip so far...

Amazing, I just love it. Everything delicious, served super hot, big portions and with an amazing beautiful smile. Soon I will get one of those gigantic burgers. Thank you so much....

Nice chilled out atmosphere, even on match weekend when I was here it was quiet enough relatively speaking. Heaters in the front make it easy to waste a few hours on a rainy afternoon in the fresh air here. Staff is very friendly and charming and food was very nice, I came for brunch so had a delicious tomato soup of the day and Dutch gouda cheese filled pastry rolls which were a little hard/crispy on the outside but overall very tasty.

Good and welcoming Irish pub with amazing food. Beef Guinness and Irish stew are my highlights of the menu. And of course, you can expect some quality beers on tap. My personal favorite is Kilkenny 👌

Have been to Amsterdam loads of times now, but my first time having breakfast here today, lovely food, and the staff working this morning have been the most polite people I've met so far in all my time in Amsterdam.

My wife and I popped in for our first dinner after arriving in Amsterdam, we were hungry and the pub looked inviting. I ordered fish and chips, it was perfect! My wife really enjoyed her bangers and mash. The vibe was nice and the staff were attentive and friendly.

If you're passing through, walking around Amsterdam, it's nice to sit down and rest here! The atmosphere is great, the beer is refreshing. Our spring rolls and meatballs were delicious.

Great place for drinks. Great atmosphere and heated terrace. Staff is very attentive and welcoming. Didn’t have any food there so can’t comment on that

  • 5/5 Isabela M. 10 months ago on Google
Friendly staff, good atmosphere and great variety of drinks. The place tends to be full since it is a very centric location but if there’s space… I would recommend stopping by even for a drink as the outside area also has a nice view of the city and the tables are quite comfortable. If you don’t know what to order, don’t hesitate asking the staff as they tend to have good suggestions.

This was pretty much opposite our hotel so we visited a few times during our stay! English breakfast was amazing and definitely worth the €16.50 we each paid! Good selection of drinks and cocktails. Staff were friendly and always up for having a chat. They also have a cute cat which sleeps inside on a bed!! 😍😅

Stopped here for a few beers and a snack. Great service with friendly staff. Beers was great and the food not bad too. Nice that they have patio heaters and blankets available in the colder weather too.

We went there for breakfast this morning and couldn't fault the service, food and drinks. We had full Irish breakfast and it was great. The coffee was tasty and the service was great, staff were friendly and were very welcoming. Would highly recommend

Friendly service, nice atmosphere. We always visit here when we come to Amsterdam. Good breakfast or evening meal. Sport on TVs but not intrusive , cracking music on in morning. Lots of seating inside and out.

Always come here when we go Amsterdam, the Guinness is bang on, highly recommend the full Irish breakfast, it will set you up for the day! The outside area is heated, and loads of screens inside for the football. Staff are all lovely too, it should be a must visit!

  • 1/5 Florian E. 5 months ago on Google
Personal refused to switch on the heating. Very expencive beer. Weren‘t able to switch the TV channel to an announced (!) football match, even after asking three times. Paid way to much for a very dry verggie burger. Poor experience…

We stayed in the hotel above this bar, so it became our local for the weekend. The staff were brilliant - Melissa in particular. Lovely coffees and breakfast in the morning and great beer and gin in the evening. Would recommend

This bar is located at Rembrenatplein, one of the main squares of Amsterdam. The service in it was good and the food and the drinks was great. I suggest to visit this place and to drink Affligen Triple beer is one of the greatest Belgian beer. The time pass so fast there also i will recoment if you want to make a photo with pigons take with you a piece of bread or order potatoes to feed them.

I happened to be riding around on a bicycle in Amsterdam enjoying the day and I come upon this great Irish Pub. I was seated in the plaza square immediately and the staff was very kind and welcoming. I asked for some Bitterballen a traditional Dutch appetizer and a few beers. The servers were very kind, the seating comfortable under patio umbrellas, and the vibe was international cosmopolitan. The St. James Gate is located diagonally from the Escape nightclub and is a great place to meet and chat, or grab a quick bite to eat, watch your favorite soccer game, and just meet new people. Servers were British, but were able to communicate in several languages. Atmosphere was very friendly, I met some random people here and just struck up a conversation in Spanish. One was a travelling businessman from Germany, the other two were ladies from Colombia and Spain. Prices were very reasonable.

Stuff was dressed like sex workers. To short skirt. But she was friendly. Our lunch snacks where nice and tasty. We enjoyed our short stay here.

Enjoyed a few pints of Guinness and had fish 'n chips on the terrace. Fast attentive service, the next pint was settling as I was just finishing the previous. Nice location to watch the passersby in the square. Little on the expensive side but it is Amsterdam.

Very tasty! Salmon sandwich and club sandwich 🔥 Dark beer - red ale also good. Cider is sour as for me, it’s more brut than doux.

Really nice Irish Pub! The beer is awesome. Hop House 13 is specially good. Food is tasty and staff super friendly. I will come back soon.

Food and drinks were really good. The cocktail selection was very small and they didn't even have the 5 options available, yet the o es we ordered were pretty good. The service was great as well. We sat outside and my only complaint was the amount of people smoking (it's not the restaurant fault but the city though)

Very warm and efficient staff! Superb owner, easy to talk to makes you feel he has unlimited time, however the man is totally dedicated and shares long hours with his staff 👍 .

For drinks, this place is fine. For soccer fans, this is a bar that actually plays the sound of the game unlike nearby bars that show games but have music on. There are 2 big screens which played 2 different games and 2 small screens that were playing a 3rd games. However, their cottage pie was so bland. And they charge more than I have ever been charged for one and didn’t have a side of anything, like fries. We wanted to order more food but since the pie wasn’t any good, we weren’t going to risk being disappointed by anything else.

Great bar to eat & drink. Great service. The area is nice (Rembrandt square) with lots of people going by. The prices are a bit high but on the other hand it's almost everywhere like that in Amsterdam

  • 5/5 Rob B. 1 year ago on Google
We ate and drank here several times during a weekend break and every-time the food was superb. Full Irish breakfast and cottage pie were two of my favourites! Staff extremely polite and happy to engage in conversation. Prices were reasonable too which given some of the places we tried was a welcome find! Highly recommended!

Marvellous place in Amsterdam, staff is very polite and food is very good. The atmosphere and decoration for Christmas was outstanding. Place I would truly come back when I am there.

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why. The staff were also very well-...
