The 9 Straatjes, or Nine Streets, in Amsterdam are a shopper's paradise and a glimpse into the city's historic charm. Nestled in the canal district, these quaint streets are lined with boutique shops, vintage stores, cafes, and galleries. It's the perfect place for a leisurely stroll while discovering unique fashion, antiques, and handmade treasures. The picturesque canals that run alongside add to the area's charm, making it a must-visit for those looking for a taste of Amsterdam's eclectic and trendy side 🛍️🏘️🌆

A very charming neighborhood, I would recommend early morning walk or cycling to enjoy the area before the crowd. Moreover you could have a nice breakfast with good views

Visiting these populated streets gives you the best of what Amsterdam fashion and hospitality can offer, all confined into small narrow streets with 3 canals separating the 9 streets. The streets are buzzing with life with cafés and restaurants having their tables outside and bike bells zipping past... It's a lovely place to sit back and people watch. It's defo worth a visit and have a wonder and get lost...

Beautiful neighborhood with lot of unique and colourful stores. It has nine picturesque streets and four canals, included in the canal belt recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site. Fun fact, the names of the streets refer to the processing industry of hides that used to be there (Huiden is skin, Ree is deer, Beren is bear and more)

The 9 streets form a unique shopping area in the centre of the Amsterdam canals where many monumental buildings can still be admired. worth for a visit. You can also rent a bicycle from one of the many bicycle rentals in the center.

Amsterdam's 9 Streets district is a charming labyrinth of boutique shops, cafes, and picturesque canals. Quaint cobblestone streets invite leisurely strolls, revealing a mix of vintage finds and trendy boutiques. The atmosphere is lively, but weekends can be crowded. Cafes offer delightful pit stops. The district effortlessly blends historic charm with contemporary flair, making it a must-visit for those seeking unique shopping experiences and authentic Amsterdam vibes.

What a delight to walk in old Amsterdam. The 9 streets are far more interesting part Amsterdam than the other well known ones. The tiny Italian eateries the old traditional pubs create a buzz that is Amsterdam

It was such a beautiful area with the canals. It was a calm area with many cafes and shops. But watch out, the bike drivers are relentless:)

Unique space with lots of photo opportunities and souvenir shops, great for a casual stroll. The canals are beautiful but be warned that it gets very crowded at certain spots and certain times. Be careful of bikes and cars that get very close. Really do wish this was a pedestrian only zone but unfortunately, there are cars that drive through the streets and park right on the canal.

I found peace in my mind when taking 1 hour walk alone around this charming canal area. It’s even more beautiful during summer time 💕 I will definitely visit Amsterdam again

It's always nice to do a little shopping while traveling and 9 Straatjes is a great place to do that. There are a few chains like République (a store I do love), but also Dutch brands like Scotch & Soda and one-off stores alternating with corner cafés for a rest & refresh. And, well, Pompadour for magnificent chocolates, patisserie, and tea. It's particularly lovely to shop in the canal rings of Amsterdam and not have to deal with the crush of people in the shopping areas off Dam Square. Plus, the location is gorgeous.

The nine streets are ”Huidenstraat”, ”Runstraat”, ”Berenstraat”, ”Reestraat”, ”Wolvenstraat”, ”Haartenstraat”, ”Gasthuismolensteeg”, ”Oude Spiegelstraat” and ”Wijde Heisteeg”. They are definitely worth a visit, as you will find the small cozy streets with small vintage boutiques and cafés. The name “The nine streets” was first used in the 1990s as a way to promote the area. The people hated it at first, but the name has stuck since.

Make sure you have comfortable shoes or a bike! With so many canals and small streets, this is no place to drive a car or use an Uber. I bet most of the time you can walk faster to palces than drive. You are better off learning the easy metro system and walking or biking around the area.

Walking around the canals in Amsterdam was definitely the highlight of our trip there. So many cute little shops to visit and many places to eat. The only real downside was that there is a lot of trash all around the city. I can see the difficulties handling it, but still not pleasant.

I enjoyed this area of Amsterdam. It is away from Central Station which makes the area not as touristy. There are a lot of beautiful boutiques and shops to enjoy while walking. There are several restaurants and cafes, as well, to choose from. The canals are beautiful also, especially at night. The hotel we stayed in, The Pulitzer, was nice. We would stay there again.

Was expecting some more "wow" worth visiting and worth the name of "tourist attraction". Maybe i had too high hopes but aside from the nice walk, didn't get much excitement out of the visit.

This area was definitely interesting and there were a few cool shops to check out. However I feel that there wasn't as much in these streets as I thought there would be from all the descriptions I've seen.

Best way to see the views in Amsterdam travel by one of the many boat tours! Get fantastic views of the streets, people and buildings.

  • 5/5 Elizabeth Glen B. 1 year ago on Google
Just one of the many side streets that capture the beauty of Amsterdam. Bike or walk you'll not be disappointed. Then take a canal cruise with Flag ship staff. Don't forget to ask for a cold drink. you'll need it at the "Beginning"of the tour and not 10 minutes before the end.

Old historic homes but nothing out of the exception for old buildings. Many boutique shops if you are interested to walk around to shop.

One of my favourite spots in Amsterdam, and a spot worth returning to each time. Various quirky, boutique like shops with restaurants scattered in between stretching over different canals. Great vibe.

  • 4/5 Annika W. 1 year ago on Google
Really nice, but you always have to make sure for bikes, cars, scooters and of course other pedestrians! Just make sure not to trip and fall because of the fairly uneven pavement. Really pleasant, especially when the weather’s nice. You can find multiple cafes and restaurants there too.

If you're just looking for a nice mid-lively place to stroll in Amsterdam, this is a great are. Not too much going on compared to some other areas, but plenty of people watching, food, and shopping, as well as amazing canal views and sights of the nearby clocktower.

The “must see” part of Amsterdam, has a plenty locations to eat & drink. Highly recommended to read a Wikipedia or local guide before visiting. Can be crowded during weekend, if you want to dine nicely & tasty - think about reservation

  • 5/5 Petar 1 year ago on Google
Iconic place in Amsterdam. Looking from a tourist side it’s a nice place to visit especially with all those nice stores in the tiny streets and the canals too. But the best views are in the early morning and late afternoon when the sun is low and the tourists are few.

The perfect tourist trap: cozy, friendly. Lovely architecture in 16 century houses, canals, not a open air museum but living and thriving. But of course the whole thing is there just to rip you. Get yourself ripped, life is short, you still have enough time to die. Drink coffee in the many, many coffeehouses, Street life just made for you and me, as I need you're money everyday.

Funny. But many years ago there was nothing known as the 9 streets. Only in 1996 dus they start a club and in 1999 a marketing campaign to gain attention. Very clever and it has turned nothing into something very special. Well worth a visit. Lots of small specialist shops, restaurants and some bars
