Would have liked to give a better rating. Hotel was short staffed. The furniture was in need of steam cleaning or recovering. Carpet burns on floor. Halls were dingy and needed vacuuming. On the positive…. Great view from our room, bed was comfy, felt safe. Convenient to transportation.

The only positives I can say about this hotel is that the view from our room was fantastic, the towels were thick and fluffy and the room itself was spacious. I can't understand how they can advertise they are a 4 star hotel. No way! The room was extremely dusty - I mean flying around the room dusty - seemed as though nobody had stayed there for awhile and it was not prepared for our arrival. The drinking glasses were dirty, the tv remote did not work and the pillows were terrible. The "king size" bed was actually two twins pushed together. The staff was less than friendly or helpful. The food in the restaurant was good, but service was very slow. Perhaps it was an extremely busy couple of days, but the staff seemed very overwhelmed. The location with respect to touring the city without a car or bike was less than stellar. Other than the hotel restaurant, there were no food options without walking a mile or two. It would have been nice to have been informed that we would need reservations wherever we wanted to eat as we found out on our way back to the hotel after walking 9 miles touring the city! Every place we stopped for dinner told us we needed a reservation. Even the hotel restaurant wanted a reservation but the host was able to seat us without one. Kudos to the gentleman handling our luggage. He was awesome and didn't complain when he had to make 3 separate trips to our room to find and deliver all of our bags from the cruise ship. All in all, I can't say I would recommend this hotel at all.

Nice and modern hotel in the harbour area. If you would start or finish a cruise ship tour, the site would be ideal. Else you‘ll have to walk around 10minutes to the central station. The rooms are quite big and from the higher floors you have a great view across the city. Breakfast is okay, enough from everything but the little extra seems missing. Rooms are very clean and staff very friendly.

I am staying at the hotel with my family and had booked the hotel in advance and requested for interconnecting rooms , but when I checked in forget interconnecting rooms I was given rooms on different floors .. I was told that they would change the rooms the next day and Inspite of requesting that I had a small child who needed my attention and being assured by the reception that they will change they did not change my room but and the staff was least apologetic about it.I wonder why it has been given a 4 star rating or what criteria they have ., there was no complimentary drinking water in the room .. all 4 star properties that I have ever stayed always has .. there was tea coffee maker but the tea bags or sugar was not replenished , the house keeping was pathetic , they did not even make the bed properly, the WC was not clean , there were only 2 pillows in the room . The only plus point is the location and the fact that the rooms are good size . It was a very disappointing experience and I will definitely not want to come back here .

If your going for the big party, The Kings Birthday, this is an awesome place to get away once the party is done. Nice little walk into the city, plenty close enough at a great price! Nice bar and a good meal. FOLLOW ME for more thoughtful recommendations as I travel the world 🌎

The hotel is fantastic. The building appears to be very modern and technologically advanced. It has excellent infrastructure, The views from the rooms are amazing because of the hotel location close to a canal with clean and comfortable rooms. Also the staff is highly attentive. Our 3-year-old daughter was treated exceptionally well and received gifts at both the reception and restaurant. The hotel's location is also a significant highlight, being a 5-minute walk to the Tram station. By taking this tram, you can reach Amsterdam Central Station in just 5 minutes. Alternatively you can walk until the central station passing through amazing views and spending 10-15 minutes. The bar/restaurant also boasts a well-designed structure. Food is amazing and also they have good options of drinks and beers. The restaurant staff member named Fiona was great providing recommendations for food and explaining about the city. Staying at Movenpick was undoubtedly a great experience, and I look forward to returning.

Our experience at this hotel was just kind of okay. When we arrived in our room, it wasn’t very clean which straight away was a bit surprising. The room itself was okay (great view of the city), but it felt a bit old. One of the light fixings next to the bed was broken, the bedding felt a bit cheap and especially the pillows were really uncomfortable and gave no support. The air conditioning didn’t really seem to work properly. The bathroom was decent but the water pressure was terrible and the bath/shower unit itself wasn’t great. We passed everything on to the staff at check-out. The staff was very friendly and pleasant at every step and they did listen to our feedback. Basically, this hotel would be fine if it wasn’t so expensive. We payed nearly 1.5k Euros for 4 nights (just for the room, no breakfast included), but it just wasn’t worth the money. For that kind of money, you’d expect the rooms to at least be clean on arrival. That alongside all the other issues highlighted left us feeling really underwhelmed by the hotel. We didn’t really feel anything ‘premium’ about the experience. It was still a pleasant place to come back to, but next time we visit Amsterdam, we won’t be going back to Mövenpick and we’ll try a different similarly priced hotel instead.

My family visited Amsterdam for the first time - actually to begin a cruise. Your hotel was selected by our travel agent based on our stated preferences. It was a wonderful choice. We arrived a couple of days prior to our cruise and we were able navigate Amsterdam very easily on foot from your hotel. Your hotel staff greeted us warmly and reviewed the ins and outs of our reservation. Our room had a beautiful view of cruise port. The room was more than sufficient for our needs. Clean, ample towels, roomy. The daily breakfast was quite good. Checkout was easy. The staff bid us a pleasant good bye and directed us for the easy walk to cruise terminal. I would highly recommend your hotel as a great place to stay. Thank you for getting us off to a wonderful vacation.

Our room was standard and clean enough to sleep in for the few days we visited Amsterdam. However, I have given such a low rating due to the issues we had with staff and the hotel policy. After we arrived at the hotel, we were asked to give a large deposit for the room. We were not once offered cash like one of the replies to another review states. We were offered to pay €50 per room per night on a credit card or €100 per room per night if paying with a debit card. As this had not been mentioned on love holidays whom I had booked our trip through, we were left short with spends and had no other option but to pay this large amount towards a deposit. As I travelled with myself, my partner and another young couple (age 20) I feel as if we were not treated fairly because we were younger than the social normality in this hotel. We were welcomed whilst the butler watched every move and never offered to help with any luggage, however offered other couples entering after us ( I guessed around age 35+) On the day of check-out I had cleaned the room and came to the desk early to insure I was able to get the deposit back before leaving for the flight (as promised by one of the employees when we were checked in) When I arrived at the desk the employee then explained it may take up to 10 working days for this to enter my bank, as it is down to my bank. This is not what I was told when using my debit card to pay for the deposit, I was promised it would return immediately after the refund had been processed. I expressed my concern as I was worrying about my financial situation when going to the airport. Amsterdam is extremely expensive, every penny counts when you’re there. I then received an invoice of what had been paid and my taxes which were deducted automatically from the deposit. This was not confirmed when checking in and was not mentioned to me what so ever. I did not have any breakfast included, as mentioned on another review. I asked for an explanation on why we had been taxed such a high amount and why it was not mentioned. The staff laughed at me and continually said “I did say”. I felt as if the staff had no concern for their customers. This made me feel extreme vulnerable and uncomfortable. It’s very disappointing that we will now never return to this hotel, this had a huge negative impact on our trip to Amsterdam. We were not apologised to once, just laughed at and humiliated. I hate to leave bad reviews, but the way we was treated by the staff was completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

Incredible hotel with very friendly and professional staff. We did a last-time reservation for a business trip and met effective communication via online and a helpful concierge. The room was vast, equipped with good light set up, coffee machine and an awesome view. All was spotless, comfy and cozy in a more modern way. Bathroom was also excellent. Perfect location for tourism, easy for walking to downtown and near the metro station.

Great location from the train station! Excellent service from the staff (from reception, restaurant, and even room service)! Our room was beautiful, and the view from our room was absolutely breathtaking! If we are ever so lucky to visit Amsterdam again then we will definitely stay here again!

It's a great hotel with a great view. Only problem is that they charge 50 € deposit per night paid up front ( which means 700 € if you are staying for two weeks) and you get it all at once once you leave (which in a way misses up with your trip budget). I don't know if all hotels in Amsterdam have the same policy, but usually a deposit is a small fixed amount.

A hotel of these characteristics and belonging to a good hotel group such as Moevenpick should not be able to let situations like the one I experienced happen. On their own website they allow you to choose the number of adults and in several rooms they explicitly describe that they can accommodate up to 3 adults. You pay a surcharge to have this triple room. However, far from that, the rooms, apart from being a bit old and in need of renovation (the air conditioning was not working properly and the television was blocking at times), we only had 2 beds with mattresses. On a sofa next to the window they put a thin polystyrene and some sheets on top to hide it. After a horrible night, I went to consult them and the only solution they gave me was to put another polystyrene sheet on top. After not giving me any other solution I slept for the second night on the sofa and there was no improvement so I went back down to reception to show my discomfort. The only solution I was given was to pay for another room and that I would get a 30% discount on the current price, when my room was a triple and I had already paid the price of a triple, which was more expensive than the double. They ended up making me feel guilty for complaining and as if they were doing me a favour when on their website it clearly states, room for 3 adults. Unjustifiable lack of tact, professionalism and arrogance on the part of the hotel's assistant manager, Han.

Judging by the bad reviews I would say they are making improvements. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel/room was clean enough, good towels, comfy beds and good sized rooms. I stayed on the 18th floor and the elevators are fast and we hardly had to ever wait. The fitness room on the mezzanine level was the best I’ve seen in any hotel I’ve ever been. Good sunlight into the rooms and very nice views over the marina. Location wise, it’s about a mile or 2 walk to where all the hustle and bustle starts or you can take the tram in front of the hotel for about $3. I strongly recommend this hotel.

My fave hotel to stay in Amsterdam. Firstly, the location is fantastic and the staff are so generous and kind. They went out of their way to move rooms for us after the room we were first in was noisy due to building works and they were great in recommendations around the city. I would highly recommend the restaurant for an affordable high quality meal. Stayed here a couple times and me and my partner are looking forward to returning next month for our anniversary.

One of the best Hotels you can find in Amsterdam. We were on floor 11, and the view of the canal and the station along with the entirety of Amsterdam was quite breathtaking. The room service plus food was also very quick and consice, and quite delicious too. The suites and rooms were very comfy as well, and I found it quite easy to sleep. It's also a great vantage point for tourists, as it is close the the station allowing train, tram or bus accessibility, and again, not to mention the view. The only small thing that I found a little weird was in the hallways of my floor was a very strong smell of Saffron, however it was not in the rooms, and I'm still not sure whether this was intentional or not. Otherwise, it's well worth the stay.

We just came back from a 5-nights stay at this hotel. We are a family with 2 toddlers under 5. We had a room with view of Amsterdam central station (12th floor). It’s really nice for our kids to see ships and tramways from our window. Small tip: bring a binoculars toys and some activity sheet about boats. These can keeps toddlers entertained for hours. Unfortunately they didn’t clean the room toroughly. We found a pill under our bed 😓 Second day we left our room around 11, when we back our room has been tidied but the floors still dirty. One of the drinking glass was dirty because our boy use his greasy hands to hold it (there’s greasy traces all over), when we were back the glass is still greasy but was put upside down, like new but with those traces. I called to asked for a new drinking glass but the lady told me to go downstairs instead because if they come i had to pay. Pillow is big but not firm feels like only air inside. The temperature can not be controlled. Always too cold. No welcome drink for accor member. Location : it’s around 15mins walk from central station. There’s a tramway in front of the hotel around 350m You can easily go to the city center under 20mins

Room is clean and has the bare minimum in towels. There are 10 English TV channels but hotel loses a star because steaming sticks will not work. Another fact contributing to the four star rating is there aren’t many restaurants or bars nearby. There is a Subway on the same block. We didn’t find the pizzeria steakhouse that had all the great reviews. Maybe the icon is in the wrong place. Don’t get me wrong, the hotel bar and restaurant are really good. Friendly bar and restaurant staff. The buffet breakfast is OUTSTANDING!! Didn’t interact with the hotel staff much but the one time we had an issue they took quick action.

We were there for a short stay. The rooms are clean and the view is amazing. Very nice and friendly service. Overall great experience however it took us ages in order to check in. The ques were very long and there were only 2 people at the check in. Still we are happy we chose that hotel and will for sure go back again. Thank you!

Room was great. View was great. High standard. The concierge was amazing and very helpful! Breakfast was good, nice omelet made to order. It's about 10 to 15 minutes walk to central Station and downtown. Perfect if you go on a cruise the next day

Beautiful facility just off The main tourist area. The staff was outstanding and the GM, Remeo was very well met! The restaurant/bar on the main level was very adequate and the service was outstanding thanks to Porcepo (sp?). Our room was nicely decorated and clean with a beautiful view of the city . Outstanding breakfast on the second floor, Silk was fabulous. We have stayed at the nearby Doubletree nearby previously as a pre cruise on Viking and we're totally satisfied with the experience.

I gave the hotel, a rating of only three because our room had insufficient lighting, and the cleaning service was subpar. However, Marisha at the front desk was exceptional. She was helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. She went the extra mile to make sure that our stay was wonderful and she is Perfect as the first person you encounter at the hotel. Also, Michaela was amazing and helping us with the logistics of our stay. He is a valuable asset.

Visited Amsterdam for the first time and stayed at the Mövenpick Hotel.. none of us can fault our stay here. Nothing was too much for the members of staff, always smiling and willing to help. The hotel itself is in a perfect location, felt very safe and just a beautiful hotel. There was a huge selection for breakfast and the food and drinks were gorgeous. Thank you so much! We will definitely be back next time we visit:)

Very new and clean hotel with big rooms. It has a great view of the big canal, harbor, central train and bus station from one side of the hotel room. Breakfast buffet is really good. The coffee and cappuccino machine in the hotel room is so nice and convenient. The bed and comforters and so soft and comfortable. The shower doesn’t have a door to close in the bathroom. So, the floor gets a little wet outside the shower place. Interesting design. It’s very near the science museum that looks like the Titanic ship.

  • 4/5 Ted G. 5 months ago on Google
The location is a good one, we do not mind the walk to the train station which is only about 10 minutes from the hotel. There is also a tram stop right across from the hotel to make for an easier ride into the main areas of Amsterdam. The food is quite good at the hotel restaurant. The rooms are spacious, however the cleanliness is lacking slightly on table surfaces . The rooms, overall, were clean but there were areas within that were missed in our party rooms (4 in total)- things like cups rings on tables and counters. The beds, carpets nd bathrooms were very clean( line changed). We would recommend staying again though and will continue to suggest the property to clients.

Stayed during Corona times. Had a wonderful breakfast and dinner in the room. Room with city view is worth a stay here. The room itself has everything you wish for, including Nespresso machine with decaffeinated cups! Received no upgrade (accor Gold) but this was explained by the manager. Very kind and patient staff!

Staff were friendly and super attentive. Breakfast provided was delicious with many fresh options available. Hotel is large and ideal for large groups and conferences. Having said that the lack of internal stairs can be quite a challenge when large groups of people going up to rooms/ down to leave. Additionally the room temperature made the room feel like I was in an oven. Couldn’t sleep at all. Trying to adjust the temperature and speaking to hotel team to get help didn’t resolve the issue unfortunately. Rooms and bathrooms are spacious. Spacious ovens.

We were upgraded and the new room was amazing. Good view over the river and the city. Bar staff, especially David, were so nice and friendly. While only a short walk from the station, the hotel is isolated, with not much to offer in terms of food and drink options. Breakfast choices are outstanding, even with gluten free bread available.

The main reason why we picked this hotel was because of the amazing view over the IJ and I have to admit that we were not disappointed! The view was absolutely stunning and the rooms were clean and comfortable. We really enjoyed the service and hospitality of the staff. In my opinion the prices are a bit on the high side but having everything considered it was well worth it.

Pretty cool hotel with a nice decoration and very comfy rooms. Didnt try the breakfast. Check in and check out was a bit slow because there was some kind of problem with the booking (made through a third party) but at the end they managed to solve it. Nice views. Good lighting. A/C could be better. Location is very close to the city center and also close to the meeting point of most of the tours.

Nice to get a 10:00 am check in, nasty to find pee on the toilet seat and floor…no television service either!!! Update, no telephone service in room either. After waiting 20 minutes and no one showed up, went down asked to speak with a manager. Moved to a new room, which is fine. Not a great way to start a 21 European tour!!!

Super hotel!! Great location next to the Amsterdam central station, metro, water ferry and taxi. Amazing view! Clean and well done room worthy of 4 star hotel comfortable for 2 adults and 1 kid. Very polite and helpful staff. Great breakfast with lots of hot and cold options. Underground, safe parking next to the hotel (15€ when staying the hotel). Will certainly recommend. Suggestion - please remove small bottles of shampoo, etc. it’s much of waste. Big squeeze bottles like in the shower are ideal. Guests can ask if they want anything else.

4 nights stay. Excellent view and good rooms but... Waiting 45 minutes at the restaurant without getting anyone asking if we want to take a drink or taking the order, being obliged to call the personnel and ask how long it will take to be served... Worst, get the response 'at least 30 minutes'... Not a weekend. A Wednesday. A claim has been done at the desk. Response: your 6 right. No follow-up. More than 10 years spent in Accor hotels very frequently. Never happened before. When you're not able to manage the restaurant, please tell people your not able to serve anymore. The night had finished with my 2 kids downtown Amsterdam. Finding a restaurant opened after 21:30 is not that easy. Plus the cost of 2 taxis...

Breakfast was fantastic, the gym was fully equipped ideally for people on vacation, the staff was friendly but the only reason i did not give 5 stars was the fact that our room was left as it was as we went out about our day. Room service sucked, point blank.

Preinfo about the loung/bar to lineup this comment. The bar/lounge would get 1star if possible, cause:It shouldnt get the name lobby and lounge bar or anything like that. Its a mess, the personal is rude all over, are not aware of making any drinks, not understanding their job of serving people and treat them as guestes. Especially in that kind of hotel its realy a mess! If there would be a choice, dont go there, but in the direct near there isnt therefore, no other option then accept it with a negative mood all over. But the hotel is very nice, perfect view, perfect location, nice service at the reception, cleanness is for 4 stars. Not 5 stars ranking also cause of the bar. Would come back but the bar makes ur mood down

Something strange happened while attempting to make a reservation over the phone. As I was ready to give my card details I asked if I could pay at the counter; and Ms Jane laughed. I said I could fin my card, she laugh more. I apologised and she said 's.u.r.e.' with an annoyed tone of voice. Ms. Jane from Reservations started to laugh in a quite disrespectful fashion as I was looking for my card details. I felt like Ms. Jane was full of contempt towards me. I'm not that kind of person who writes reviews, but the attitude was carried on throughout the call. This never happened to me and I hope this person is retrained in the way she approaches customers. I'm a Fairmont member since 2009 and lived in this at The Fairmont AD for over 4 years. I thought Accor ensure consistency across all their brands. I was wrong.

Very dissapointed that the room cannot be temperature controlled. It is way too hot in my room, had the maintenance worker look at it, he explained to me that it is winter in Amsterdam. I come from Canada used to - 40 degrees. Never found a hotel in 50 years where you cannot change the temperature. It is my opinion that maybe they can't be bothered. The hotel does not have fans as they have explained to me.

Got a 19 floor room and enjoyed the fantastic view! The room was very clean and the service was excellent. Loved the place very much with all details especially that it’s very close to the train station “Amsterdam Central”. If you are staying in this hotel, check BIMHUIS Jazz Club music! Absolutely recommended and it’s few steps beside the hotel.

Rooms are pretty big compared to other stays. I loved the heated bathroom floor. Breakfast and temporary staff were great at the restaurant. Spa facilities were good. The not so good things are the quality of conditioner, shower gel, lotion. No bell boys, or at least i was not offered. I wouldn't say location was that great compared to my other European stays, but it is not bad either. Staff at the front desk can be a bit more welcoming. The welcoming factor was missing completely. We were there for honeymoon but no special arrangements were done.

Upon arrival, front counter clerk was very helpful in getting us checked in especially considering the airport lost my luggage. The hotel is a 15-18 walk from the train station which was a little inconvenience if you are not use to cold weather. The restaurant staff downstairs seemed short staff and agitated. We stood next to the entry way with no acknowledgement as if we were invisible. They were very rude and unpleasant. Two nights in a row, we placed our breakfast door tag at 10pm, only to see it was never collected. Very inconvenient to have to walk and find food in a non familiar area. There was no soap in the shower we had to take a wash cloth to retrieve soap from the sink before enter the shower. For what I paid, I would expect to have soap easily accessible. The coffee pot was dirty and still had a keg from the person before. My 3 stars are based off the overall customer and attentiveness of our needs.

The rooms were smaller than expected, the restroom does not lock?? and where is the bedit?? it’s 2023 hygiene has changed. The closets are extremely small and definitely do not fit anything. There is barely any space to walk in the room and both twin beds are stuck together. Just ask for a queen. We ordered a cot and got simply a blanket on the couch. However, the bed is cozy and comfy the view is spectacular and the food is mediocre. Overall, nothing special it’s an okay hotel.

It’s a nice hotel. Great location. The room was modern and clean and had a nice view. The only thing that needs improvement is the gym with almost no equipment. The weights are very light, no bar for pull-ups or anything that a gym-goer would desire. I suggest getting rid of the back rooms with the steam room and the other room and creating space for more gym equipment instead.

We were very happy with the size of the room and beautiful view. Everything was very clean, and the beds were comfortable. There are even controls to adjust bed firmness. However, my son had the third sofa 'bed' which was a pad that easily slipped off of the sofa. It would be better if they had a more secure pad. The most important part of the stay though was the breakfast buffet. It was fabulous, and we enjoyed every breakfast. Overall, we would stay here again as it was a cozy and safe hotel appropriate for families.

Such a lovely hotel, my room was very clean and spacious. Loved the addition of the coffee machine and the mini fridge which was restocked daily. The view from my bedroom window was absolutely gorgeous especially watching the sunset. Staff are very kind and attentive, room service was lovely the food was fresh and tasty. Loved that you can change the firmness of the bed to your preference. A 20 minute walk into the city but with beautiful views of the water, alternatively a tram stops right outside. Would love to return to this hotel again in the future, could not have had a better stay! Exemplary hotel.

😐 It is a large, somewhat impersonal, completely unshaded and extremely noisy campsite (we were in the tented section).Noisy because there is a large multi-lane bridge nearby, which is still very busy at night. Also noisy because of the "cigarette smokers". There are no rules and regulations - or if t...
