Awful place, it had bedbugs in every bed they offered me, then had the audacity to email me saying that I could not have a refund because I left a review! Don't ever consider staying here and chargeback as soon as possible with your card provider if it's too late for you. Here was their email: Dear *my name*, Thank you for bringing the issue to our attention regarding your recent stay in Room 202. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the presence of bedbugs in your room. We take such matters very seriously, as the comfort and well-being of our guests are our top priorities. Upon receiving your complaint, we took immediate action to address the situation. Our pest control team thoroughly inspected the room and implemented the necessary measures to eliminate the bedbug infestation. We assure you that we are also implementing additional preventive measures to avoid any recurrence. Regarding your request for a refund, we understand your concerns and apologize for the inconvenience caused. However, we regret to inform you that our refund offer is no longer valid as a review regarding your experience at our hostel has been posted online. The terms and conditions of our refund policy state that in order to be eligible for a refund, no reviews should be posted online. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us. We value your feedback and appreciate your understanding. Sincerely, Sabina

I stayed one night and it wasn't great. It was first of all difficult to even find the door to the place. I know that there was a big sign over the entrance but there wasn't anything on the door or the reception communication thing. I added a picture so that someone in my situation can get a better picture of where to enter. I slept in a 6 bed room and it was tiny the whole hostel felt tiny. The entrance, reception and corridors. The storage was small too. I counted 5 lockers in a room of 6 beds. The room didn't have any toilet/shower but there was toilets and showers in the corridor so that was fine. Also the noise from trams and people outside could be heard pretty well in the room. It didn't feel super clean either but I didn't do a thorough check. I wouldn't recommend this hostel. Compared to other hostels in the area it falls short. The only good quality would be it's very central location.

You get what you pay for. This hostel is one of the most affordable, but you'll get the bare minimum! The kitchen is poorly equiped; the rooms have as much beds as they could put into them; the showers are movement activated and they charge 6 euros for the rental of a towel. The lockers are extremely small and there's not enough lockers per room (more beds than lockers in the rooms). And if you need to leave your luggage after checking out, you'll have to pay an extra charge of 5 euros per bag. Location is great, though. Far from the centre, but very very close to museumplein, and a stone's throw from the nearest tram stop.

it was a HORRIBLE experience! I stayed there for a couple of nights and they changed my room twice with no consideration! Also, they tried to let me do my own bed by my self, when it’s supposed to be their work and I’m paying for that. If you see good reviews here it’s because they give you a magnetic “for free” just if you say good things here about the hostel (photo). Definitely the worst experience ever.

THERE ARE MICE!! We booked a room with two beds and the second we turned off the lights we could hear the mouse/mice running around. We did eventually see it run under the bed. I went down to the reception to ask them about it and the receptionist ask if I may be hallucinating????? OKAY ? We only booked this hostel because we had no other option.116 euros for one night and a mice infested room ? Strongly do not recommend if you do not enjoy sleeping with rodents.

It's the worst hostel I've ever been in, I don't recommend it to anyone. It does not offer anything that it claims to offer. The kitchen is tiny and is in the same room as the reception, it only has a stove and microwave. I wanted to cook a pasta at a permitted time and the receptionist did not allow me, telling me that it leaves an odor. There is no hot water in the showers, there is only cold water. The bathrooms are constantly dirty. The staff that work there are always in a bad mood.

The worst place I have ever stayed. Five nights in this hostel cost me $1,300 AUD. The room smelt. The bed was sticky. The bathroom looked like it had not been cleaned for years. Underneath my bed was full of dust and what previous visitors had left. The showers were disgusting. They charged us 8 euro for a small hand towel to use to wash ourselves. MY PARTNER AND I TRIED OUR BEST TO NOT SHOWER BECAUSE IT WAS THAT GROSS. Plus much more! I wish I could get a refund.

I stayed at the Princess hostel for 2 nights. At first it looked alright, but the toilets were very dirty and most of the time there was no toilet paper. My second night was even more awful, because there were bedbugs in my bed and on the wall. The reception was closed and i had nowhere else to go, so all I could do was try to kill them with my shoe. I did not sleep at all that night! They just kept climbing up the wall next to my bed. I don’t know if the bedbugs were there the first night, because I was very tired of my very busy day… maybe there were less than the second night so i wouldn’t have noticed it. My experience was very bad and i would NOT recommend this hostel to anyone. There are many more hostels in Amsterdam that are cleaner and in the same price range.

Don't trust the super positive reviews on here- the company bribes visitors to write fake reviews! For the first time ever, after 3 years of solo travel, I felt not safe in a hostel. There was a very drunk guy who said very sexual things to me and my friend, and then proceeded to swear at us and get more aggressive when we clearly did not want to talk to him. This happened right in front of reception, and the guy did absolutely nothing. When the creepy dude went away, the receptionist said not to worry and that this behavior was normal! The hostel itself was not great, but not the worst. 2 showers were broken, all the bathrooms had overflowing paper towels and no hand soap. There is no kitchen, only a tiny stove in front of the reception desk where 1 person can cook, or 2 people can sit and eat. Rooms are small but average size for Europe. When I stayed it was pretty cold with not a warm enough blanket, my friend wore her coat to sleep! they charge extra money (5 or 6 euro) for a towel or extra blanket. It is pretty cheap to stay here, but I think you get a much better experience for a few euro extra.

RUN! It’s freaking DIRTY at all points ! Carpet is dusty and smell like dead goat ☠️ sinks is broken in the room, no proper “bathroom sink” then the one in the WC? No toilet paper ! Rooms are really small, no chill area where to meet backpackers. It’s the worst I’ve seen in my life, and I’ve been to a lot (mostly South America ). Not expecting such dirtiness for a big city like Amsterdam

I’d like to rate everything with just 0 stars!!! That’s a nightmare!!!!! Extremely dirty and you don’t get what you ordered for! I’ve reserved a twin room with a private sink but, guess what? There was no sink at all in the room. I’ve found the blankets already dirty the first day, dust everywhere and the shared bathroom is just UNBELIEVABLE. Once the main door was not working in the middle of the night and we had to wait OUTSIDE in the street (fortunately 20 min after a guy, who was staying at the hostel, went out for a walk and we could get in). Don’t waist your money in this horrible place!!!!!!

Avoid this place at all costs, my room had bedbugs, all the other rooms they offered had traces of bedbugs and they did not care. I am still currently fighting for my refund, they did not appear to take any action to remove the bedbugs either. There are better hostels in Amsterdam that you will not have to move out from. They also give out fridge magnets, in exchange for positive reviews. These reviews are easy to spot as they are very brief and 5 stars.

I think one of if not the worst hostel I stayed in so far. It is not clean, drain in the room was clogged. I did not feel comfortable, it was also very small. For the 200€ I paid for the two nights, it is definitely not worth the price and would not stay here again. I would rather pay more and stay at a nicer place. Only good aspect was the location.

I have no idea why this place gets bad reviews. Unrealistic expectations I guess. You get a bed, a shower and WiFi and the staff is excellent at removing problem guests very quickly. This means even the potentially violent. The staff is extremely helpful unless you are a jerk. It’s old but clean. It’s pretty close to the centrum. There are three groceries stores just a minute or two away. It’s pretty cool.

I gave 3 but i would do 2.5 out 5. Great Price. Arabs & Africans, Great location, tiny room, no hangout lounge, stove top for cooking 💰, dirty prison showers with heads that don't move black floor that doesn't drain sandles to shower 110% mandatory they should spend some money and make better. - More for African "refugees" than European adventurers but once again Great location. - Starbucks right next door to work from laptop 🌟 Gold, - The people who stay here are bottom of society so you won't be able to leave any luggage here that doesn't fit into 9inch/ 23cm by 9inch 23cm lockbox. Any luggage bag you Risk leaving 100% needs to have a lock on it. - Albert Heijns Grocery store right next door 🌟 Gold, - They said they have women only rooms 👍 - Do not bring women here for vacation unless she stays in women only room or financially desperate this is more for the bros maybe get 4 bed room with 3 other buddy's. - fleas bit my ankles bring lemongrass oil mixed with citraline oil. - Basically Homeless shelter with A+ location.

We were 3 persons with a small Frenchie. Just to be clear, when I look for a hostel/hotel I ALWAYS put as the ONLY filter “pet friendly/pet allowed” and this hostel was under the same section. I booked 3 beds in the 4-bed dormitory room and I specified in the comments section that we were traveling with our dog. Once we arrived the receptionist started saying that there was a problem for the dog issue and that we should have advised them before (what is the comment section for??). The manager came and said that our reservation was cancelled by him, but it obviously didn’t as I had the confirmation by email. They left us without accommodation on the same day (29th Dec in the evening) and neither a sincere apology for the inconvenience. Please correct your filter services on the different hotel platforms.

I was there 2 years ago, I called 3 times to make sure the reservation is OK because I have no money for the next 5 days. They said me that the reservation is OK and I should not disturb them again. When I came to check in they said I didn't do the reservation and they don't have any room available. Nothing to add.

Overall stay is good. Location is excellent with this price and friendly staff. I would recommend this hotel if you are staying for weekend and on budget travel. The hotel is almost near to every tourist location and city center.

Good Hostel for a fair price. The location is near the center. You can reach the main parts of city by foot. Matteo, the guy on the counter greets you every time with a smile. He is always willing to give you recommendations about the city. Also, there is free coffee and croissants in the morning. Overall, a good experience

There is no hot water but shower gel is available, our window can not be opened, bad smelling in the room because of it., too high to the room (third floor by foot and very uncomfortable stairs), bed is separate and hole in the middle of it. No furniture in the room, only one socket, no remote tv. Do not recommend

The location was good. The male staff was good to talk and made us feel welcome. The rooms were not good. I couldn't find any kitchen. The lady staff at night and morning for some time was annoying she woke us at literally 7:30 in the morning by just barging the door and asked us few questions which didn't seem right to me. She thought we are some thieves just banged into this hostel. She was very rude and made me feel very non welcoming although in the half sleep I answered all her questions. More than the hostels facilities that was a horror for me. I live in Europe so I could sustain it somehow but as a tourist coming outside from Europe I wouldn't suggest this one at all.

No light in the room, no water either. No water in 2 of the 3 showers, and the one that had water, was cold... Very noisy room too. And general cleanliness was poor.

We came to this hostel a bit worried given all the bad reviews but it was the best option in our budget and the location is amazing. The rooms are very small but our group was given one room to ourselves which is why it didn’t seem too bad. The room was pretty cramped and a bit dirty but not disgusting, but the sink didn’t work. One of the windows also didn’t shut completely but that wasn’t a major issue. Some of the lockers didn’t shut completely but this wasn’t a problem because our whole group was in the same room. We didn’t have any bed bugs or mice but we may have also just been lucky with the room. The showers aren’t great but the toilets are mostly fine. I can imagine the smell would be bad in the rooms by the toilet but we were a bit further off. The sound from the street was a problem on the first night but then we got used to it. No kitchen or common room was a bit annoying. Staff were nice. Overall, fine hostel if you can’t afford anything better in the city centre.

The inside of the hostel is small, so everything is very close to each other and it's small inside, it's very noisy, there is too much tram noise from outside, it's not possible to listen! The kitchen is very small and the hostel doesn't look very clean, but considering the price performance, it was the best place you can find in this location, we almost completed our trip without using public transport. The place is very safe and the staff is very kind and understanding, especially Salih Bey was very caring and caring. Thanks.

Twelve to a tiny room and four rooms to a floor with only one toilet/shower. So dirty, of course the toilet sees a lot of traffic but it also seems never cleaned or aired out. The room is extremely hot and humid. The beds were clean and comfortable enough but it's very expensive. There is no common room so people were watching TV and making phone calls in the room in the middle of the night. There is also no place to prepare food or even coffee and tea. I've seen nothing of this kitchen they mention. The central location isn't worth it.

My worst renting experience so far around the world, I rented one of the private room, for 2, on July for 5 days : the room was not clean, there was no sink, but the worst part was that despite the fact that there was no AC, the 36° in there and that the room right under the roof, they found it acceptable/moral to rent it with the window closed (impossible to open because it was screwed to the carpentry). I won't dwell on the unusable kitchen, the absence of animation a room to hang chill, or the helpless reception, as for us, the primary concern was just the insomnia due to the warmth and the absence of air. I tried contacting the owner but he has not replied or made any gesture.

You get what you pay for. Overall my stay was fine. If you're on a budget, this place is good enough. There's a tram stop outside that makes traveling easy, and a lot of restaurants and coffeeshops in walking distance. But you should be aware of the following before you book: One toilet is shared by several people and it's in a very small cubicle. You might have to climb up 4 flights of steep stairs depending on where your room is. It's one flight just to get to reception. There are lockers in the room, but you need to bring your own lock. Key cards may stop working suddenly, but the staff will help you. The shower is a cubicle with only two little hooks for your towel and clothes, and it takes several minutes to get warm. Bring some shower shoes because the shower is also shared. Water pools in the middle. Soap is provided. You can rent a towel at reception. I booked an all-female dorm and got a room that I only had to share with one girl. It includes lockers, sink, soap, and plenty of outlets. You can store your bags at reception before check-in for 5€.

This one is minus 5 stars. Only reason for 2 stars is the staff. This was my first hostel experience. Since I was traveling by myself, I was hoping to meet people, mingle, hang out in a common area (that doesn’t exist there, by the way). I, honestly, would rather sleep at the airport. This isn’t a hostel, it’s a homeless shelter, but worse. Except, I had to pay almost a 100 euros per night. I’m sure prisons in Netherlands are times nicer. Let me specify: Carpeting is unbearably old. The room had a damp smell and overall high humidity. I had to use 2 different bathrooms to complete my hygiene routine! Either the sink didn’t work, or the shower took forever to warm up. Kitchen area was ridiculously small, there was a pile of dirty sheets next to front desk almost at all times. The room was poorly ventilated, the air did not move there at all (4 guys in the room, you know the smell). A drunk guy sleeping on the (very narrow) steps at the entrance for hours was a nice touch, completed the ambience. The key at the entrance worked after several tries. I also loved a 6€ joke of a towel that you get to keep! And the sad thing is that it’s in a great location and in a beautiful building! For such a developed country this hostel puts Netherlands to shame. Your staff was the best part of the stay. They deserve double-triple their salary just for being on the premises. Shame and disappointment.

I cant understand why this hostel is called Princess. When i entered the room, there was a bad smell. The beds were so close to each other, so no privacy at all. Also was the lower bed moving when the person on the upper bed was turning. When i checked the bathroom, it was toilet and shower in one. When a person is showering, the others guests cant use the toilet. Besides that was the seat of the toilet not stable, i think needs to be fixed. Furthermore i was shocked that guests need to buy a towel for €6 instead renting it for a much lower price. There is no place just to sit and relax... Really the baddest hostel I experienced so far in my life.

I stayed in a 12 person room. Cramped but I slept well. There is a tiny kitchenette which will meet a frugal travelers needs, microwave & fridge access. Small lockers provided for valuables, bring your lock. Each bed is equipped with a light, plug in and 2 USB plugs. The location is perfect for public transit and walkers. Guests are expected to abide by common courtesy of cleaning up after one's self. Cleanliness I am sure changes according to the guest population at time of visit. I want to give a shout out to Fouzia, she works at reception. She is truly an amazing human being! The pic on the left is the view from my bed.

it was a good experience. Actually if you look the place cheap and the in the city center, that place could be the best place. Edit: The toilets are not good. The rooms are so small and tiny. Actually that room must be for 2 people but we stayed 4 person. İf one person is standing up others must sit. Also there is small bathroom outside of the room. İf you don't mind quality and just mind location. That hotel could be an option. Attachin toilet and bathroom photos.

Wouldn't recommend this place. It wasn't expensive which is the only plus really, the hostel isn't clean and the rooms are really tiny and not as advertised (double bed was pictured, we got a bunk bed). Stairs are very steep, it could be dangerous for some people. You pay 6 euro for one small towel, none are included. The walls are thin so you need earplugs. Shower was cold at 8:30am. Staff were very nice, but they have to sleep in the reception. Felt bad for them. Avoid this place.

  • 2/5 Alan B. 10 months ago on Google
The rooms are extremely basic and the beds are not particularly good. The showers were pathetic and the toilets were out of bog roll every morning. The staff were friendly and helpful but our key cards got cancelled on the last night so we couldn't get back into our rooms. Had to wake up the desk guy. Good location close to Leidseplein and Vondelpark.

  • 5/5 Mattia O. 6 months ago on Google
The position of the hostel is near Leidsplein, so perfect for visiting nearly all the locations of the city. It lacks a commons space and hygiene standards are not the best but the staff makes up for it and is always keen on finding a solution, especially Matteo at the reception desk! Being the cheapest hostel in Amsterdam and taking all into account I'd say this is a good solution for visiting on a budget.

One or two days before the check in we got an email about redirecting us to alfred hotel because princcess would close temporarily. We didn't want that because it is more far from the center but they wouldn't give our money back. They forced us to stay in alfred otherwise we would pay the money of the booking as a fine!!!! We went to alfred and they put us in a room 2x2 under the basement and they decided that it would be our room. Not even rats stay there. We went crazy and asked for another room. After that they gave us a decent one on the 2nd floor. But they had already destroyed our mood, we had to protest otherwise we would end up in this disgusting room and generally the crew that put us in the room was rude and didn't care at all. Sorry to the rest of the crew, they were okay. And the stay there was also okay but, really so bad experience. I put 2 stars instead of 1 only for the change of the room after all that.

Only gave it a three star because of the location. Pretty much close to the centre so it was easy to move around and the rooms were clean! The shower on level 1 and level 3 were cold. The reason I was told was “we just opened yesterday after being closed so we are still fixing stuff” disappointed to say the least because it was my first time in a hostel and it was tainted. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’re keen for a cold shower in the morning.

I spent 2 nights in this lovely hostel with two friends of mine. Good location, with a bike rental shop, a few supermarket (Albert don't take visa or MasterCard) and close to the city center. Service was great, especially Mateo. We were staying in a room of 4, it's a bit small, but it's one of the cheapest place to stay in Amsterdam so you get what you pay for. The stair are very dangerous, especially when you have big luggages. There's one toilet per level, so you may have to wait a bit, it's also very small, no place for your legs. The shower rarely had hot water. At least there's 2 in 1 body wash/shampoo in the showers (but maybe don't wash your hair with it). Tap water is drinkable in the room, but maybe let it flow for a while before filling up your water bottles(weird taste sometimes). There's also small locker in your room, and if you're lucky, you get can one that actually close. Also, be careful with the magnetic cards, if you keep them close to your wallet or phone, they "demagnetize", and you need them to open the front door. Finally, there's not air conditioning or any form of aeration in the rooms, so keep the window open until you go to sleep, but don't forget to close it, cause the tramway is sometimes quite loud in the morning. Small +, they have free croissant and coffee in the morning. For a 1 night stay, I think it's a good place. We stayed 3 nights, and it's probably the maximum amount of time I recommend for you to stay in this hostel. But definitely don't stay a whole week. Also, they give you free souvenirs when you leave, but only if you give a good review on Google, so I suggest you don't trust the 5 star review, cause no one would give it a 5 star review.

Use a bit more money to find somewhere else to stay. Booked 1 night together with 2 friends in a 4-person dorm. We got split in different dorms, even though the beds in my room were free for the entire duration of my stay. My room had no way of opening a window or door which made the room very hot, and the air quality bad. The showers are very dirty, and the drain is clogged, plus no hot water. Toilets are small. In general there is a smell of mold in lots of parts of the hostel (my room smelt fine though) one of the corridors also smells extremely strongly of old sweat, not very nice. Lockers are very small, barely big enough for 20L backpack. The price is cheap, and the location is good, but I would suggest other places. Upon check out you can leave a review, once you show the review to the receptionist you are given a free souvenir. So take other reviews with grain of salt.

Booked and paid for a double, but got put in a four person dorm with a 40 year old man who snored all night. Initially gave them a 5 star review because they offer you free stuff if you give one and show it to them. Do not recommend unless you pay for a Dorm in which case they cant rug pull you.

The experience was amazing looked just like the pictures. Very comfortable and affordable great place to stay if you are doing a one night trip. The lady at the front desk Emi was also super nice and helpful.

Overall it was a good experience; the place is very well located close to the canals and the Vondelpark. The receptionist Amy had a great attitude and was very friendly from the beginning. The rooms are a bit small and thin walled, we stayed in a private double room with shared bathroom at the top floor (carefull with the stairs) , but I saw a lot of cleaning happening all the time around. The bathrooms are a but small too (specially the sink) but the hot water shower in the morning is priceless. Thank you so much for the stay, you made our visit to Amsterdam a pleasure!

We stayed at the twin room for one night and enjoyed our stay. Good location - theres two tram stations nearby that takes you to the city. The room had a lot of windows too so that helped with the cooling since they don’t have AC in our room. Overall very satisfied!

Frankly, a pretty average stay. The hostel itself is very average. We stayed in a room on the very top floor, so be prepared to hike up some steep stairs. We had a private room with shared bath. The bathroom was mostly clean, and the shower was actually quite nice. Having a television in the room was a nice change of pace, and the channels offered were diverse. The staff were quite blunt (could’ve been a language barrier) and to the point. We initially thought we were double charged, but the charge was reversed before we arrived. Location is great, with plenty of transit options available. As well as a number of restaurants and bars.

Location is phenomenal. In close proximity to Vondelpark and museums. Staff was kind and helpful. That’s about all that was good about this place. The bathrooms were filthy, the room smelled, and there was no common areas. Ended up leaving this hostel 5 nights early and taking the loss because it was so bad.

👍👍 I’m recommending to visit that tower to everybody who is visiting Amsterdam city. Super place if you want to see entire city from the sky. Tickets are around 15 euros. On the top of the tower you will find nice bar when you can spend nice evening with few points and friends of course :) high rate pl...

😐 It is a large, somewhat impersonal, completely unshaded and extremely noisy campsite (we were in the tented section).Noisy because there is a large multi-lane bridge nearby, which is still very busy at night. Also noisy because of the "cigarette smokers". There are no rules and regulations - or if t...
