I can't speak much to the hotel stay itself right now, but I can speak to how they view their customers as I currently feel like they're holding me hostage. I booked an apparently nonrefundable room as part of a package (though the flight was refunded), and realized 15 minutes later that the event we were going for was not happening because of COVID. The Albus has refused to give an exception to allow a refund, which they can do. Mind you I had booked the room 15 minutes earlier. So now they are forcing me to continue with the trip or eat $800, essentially holding me hostage. I can say that I did want to go to Amsterdam again, but will never book this hotel if this is how they treat people. Why would I want to continue to give business to these people? I may update this after I travel there, but honestly, the bad taste this has left in my mouth will definitely skew my whole perception of the hotel.

Stayed here with a 1 year old and the staff couldn't have been more welcoming. Made the room up with a cot and bedding, and gave a goody bag for our little one! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Currently reception being renovated so its a bit tight, but easy to get around. Rooms are spacious and well designed. Good location and easy to get around by tram to most places.

This is not a 4 star hotel, more like 3 star at best. I’ve been to Amsterdam about 20 times and stayed in better 3 stars that cost half the price. Positives - great location, spacious rooms. Negatives - reception area stinks of sweat (consistently over the 4 days we were there), lifts don’t always work, no kettle in the rooms (just a stupid cheap coffee maker), no fridge, no iron/ironing board, rooms didn’t get cleaned despite asking for them to be and despite speaking to reception, no fresh towels, phones didn’t work, tv and lighting was faulty. To underline the severe lack of hygiene a dead fly remained in the same place on the shelf in the bathroom for 4 days - even after we had to ask 3 times for our room to be cleaned/after it was“cleaned”.

We had a truly wonderful stay at the Albus. The front desk was super helpful and welcoming. However upon departure, I noticed I had a 100$ bill missing from my room. I guess they were desperate!!!! Stay elsewhere.

Not a 4 star hotel no matter who says. Location is the best thing going for it. Pros: Location Helpful staff Cons: Smells in room and bathroom. I was told it’s due to the rains. I doubt that. Staff not resolving any issues we have asked for multiple times. Like safe not working. Bathroom shower has poor water flow. I wouldn’t stay here again.

This isn’t a luxury hotel but for the price it’s great. Service staff is super friendly and very helpful-I was checking in at 2am and exhausted after my flight and they were really accommodating to make it as easy as possible for me. Downstairs bar and restaurant seems like a pretty happening place. Great if you don’t plan on spending much in the room but exploring the surrounding areas.

Great boutique hotel in central location. Room was a little small but there was plenty of storage space for suitcases and all to keep things tidy. Bonus was that the tram that stopped directly outside went straight to central station in just a few stops.

The most welcoming reception ever. And i can say that with quite a bit of hotel stays around the globe. It was raining, i was offered a hot coffee to make me feel better. The rooms are small but very well maintained. "BEST STAFF EVER"

I want to start this review with saying The staff and service were absolutely amazing! Easily 5 star hotel level staff and service. I HAVE ZERO COMPLAINTS towards them. They all deserve a massive raise. Location wise this hotel is perfect. Unfortunately I had to give the hotel a 3 star review for several reasons: 1. The noise. There is very little insulation between the floors. The ceiling is very thin and seems hollow and there is no carpet so you hear every tiny footstep from your upstairs neighbor. In addition there is a bar at the corner of the building and the bass is absolutely terrible. We were on the 4th floor in the back and the bass from the bar was unbearable. During the week this was not an issue. Only on the weekend it was. 2. The cleanliness. The room and bathroom was cleaned on the level of a 2 star hotel. Definitely not a 4 star hotel. Ive been to many 4 and 5 star hotels where i feel comfortable lying on the floor (dont ask why i do it lol) in the Albus i found hair on the floor in the bathroom, dust under the couch and tables, the towels were dirty and overall i felt uncomfortable showering without flip flops or walking barefoot on the floor. 3. Baby crib that they have available is only for toddlers. They have no baby bed that is good for a 1 year old or younger. (Like our 4 month old) we had to go and buy a crib from ikea (50 euro only so not bad) as the crib the hotel provided was not safe for our child. (We left our crib there so technically they should now have a baby crib available) 4. The shower - the water pressure is extremely weak and the drain is clogged so the water goes all over the bathroom and I have to use a mop to mop the water up which is not normal in a 4 star hotel. Mopping the bathroom is what you do in a hostel.

I loved this hotel. It was clean, the room service was reliable and everyday the room was cleaned to the same standard as when we arrived. The location is great with a tram stop literally outside the front door. Everything is within walking distance if you are prepared for a brisk walk. Would definitely stay again.

Stayed here with my wife for a couple of nights. Rooms were very clean and well decorated. Staff were lovely and the on-site bar was great. No complaints and would definitely recommend this place for a mid tier luxury hotel.

A remarkable experience. From its impeccable service to the charming decor, everything is nearly flawless. Every aspect, from cleanliness to comfort, shines brightly, ensuring a memorable and enjoyable stay. The only minor setback was the absence of a minibar in the rooms, an unexpected first in my travels.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, which was a major plus for our stay. However, the rooms left much to be desired, as they were clean but notably small in size. The service we received was quite inconsistent. While some members of the staff were exceptionally helpful and accommodating, it was disappointing to encounter others who displayed rudeness and an unwillingness to assist. This mixed experience makes us reconsider staying here in the future.

The best hotel we stayed in, the staff are very friendly, welcoming, and helpful, perfect location! Rooms are quiet small, but other than that everything is great! And 5 stars for the employee in the front desk “Daniel” he was amazing and really helpful😍

We were welcomed with a big smile, which gave us a warm feeling! We had dinner at the restaurant called Senses, which is a cozy place inside the hotel! Wow!! From the start to the end, a taste explosion which exceeded our expectations. After a great night of sleep, a lovely breakfast! Ready to explore Amsterdam. The hotel is in a very nice neighbourhood, close to everything, wether by foot or public transit! We got great tips from the front desk. We loved it all and recommend both The Albus hotel and the city of Amsterdam

Great location and just few minutes from Dam square in a very vibrant side of Amsterdam. Very clean rooms. Staff are wonderful. We actually booked a basic twin-sized room and had a small issue in the room. Although the staff were able to immediately fix the issue, Tariq, the Manager and his assistant, Daniel spoke to their boss and upgrade our room to a king-sized suite with bathtub and a wonderful city view with no extra charges even though we did not ask for this. We felt the staff were very welcoming. Daniel and Raymond have great communication skills. Will definitely stay there at Albus again when back to Amsterdam.

Dirty sheets and very unfriendly staff: The day we arrived, we left our suitcases in the room and went out. We returned at night very tired and ready to sleep, but to our surprise the sheets were DIRTY, they had stains with what seemed to be BLOOD. After contacting reception, they told us that we should write to the hotel's WhatsApp chat, which we did and even attached a photograph of the stains. All this so that the person in charge tells us that there was no housekeeping available and that we had to wait until 7 in the morning. We had to send an email with the complaint so that a person, with a very negative attitude and bad face, would give us clean sheets, which we had to change ourselves. For a hotel with more than four stars that charges a high price per room, it is shameful that the customer service is so BAD. We will never return to this terrible hotel. Update: The manager came to our room and apologized for the inconvenience and then left a formal apology and a bottle of cava in our room. Thanks for the follow-up and for the apology.

My sister biked this hotel for my birthday as she has stayed before. Its a lovely hotel very near to the city centre. Staff were extremely helpful, professional and polite. Rooms were extremely clean and well thought out. Reason for 4/5 for rooms, was just a little thing, as 3 women sharing a room we would have loved a light in the entrance of our room for make up application/outfit checking purposes :). We will be staying here again this summer.

We loved the hotel!! Nice hotel staff, very friendly and definitely a great area with a great Spanish tapas restaurant around the corner. We were welcomed with sparkling wine after a tough day. Also, the room was amazing, although the shower drain was not working, I'm sure this problem got fixed and we will definitely come back in the near future!

Excellent, centrally located hotel. Staff could not be more helpful or friendly. Rooms of decent size. Large bathroom (although the shower is a wet area - my pet peeve!). Breakfast good. We would return.

Is a unique hotel with cozy and warm atmosphere in the heart of Amsterdam. It is nice and clean and very comfortable rooms. Lovely breakfast and dinner. Amazing, friendly staff. Can't wait to come back!

Great location and the staff went above and beyond—extra kudos to the front desk host that checked us in early (I believe his name was Daniel). Rooms were modern and good size. Street and hall noise was a bit loud for my liking, but nothing earplugs wouldn’t resolve.

I had a great stay at The Albus. The rooms were clean, spacious by European standards, and the staff was friendly and attentive. It was also very conveniently located. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is apparently 4 star, not sure how. The location is good but the room I had was ordinary. After the staff explained that I could dial 9 for reception I found there wasn’t even a phone in the room 🙄 The room was reasonably clean though walking barefoot in the room I soon found my dirty feet telling a different story. I found it strange that a 4 star hotel would not even have a complimentary bottle of water in the room. The worst part for me was the noise, the room was hardly sound proof and when it rained at 330am, the noise was deafening

Couldn't have been the happier with this hotel. Rooms for great and the staff was so helpful. Tram stop directly in front of the hotel so it made traveling around Amsterdam very easy. Would stay again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.

Hotel Albus is very centrally located, walking distance from numerous good eating places, museums and shopping malls. They have a small but welcoming lobby with a bar. Their front-desk staff is friendly and helpful and check-in is smooth. Twice during the six days we stayed there, the hotel manager personally dropped by to ask how our stay was and if there was anything else he could provide to make it our stay more comfortable. They have a small restaurant where a buffet breakfast is served.

Great service and rooms, we felt welcomed! Loved our stay here. The beds are comfortable, the rooms are spotlessly cleaned. Rooms are beautifully decorated and modern bathrooms, great toiletries provided which are topped up everyday. I really enjoyed staying at The Albus.

10/10 staff and service. You are greeted with champagne when you arrive. The staff was extremely helpful, friendly and compassionate. The rooms are clean with the design/decor was beautiful. Very comfy bed. Great location I was surprised how class to Dam square it is. Highly recommend. Thank you for an amazing stay!

Great hotel in the center of Amsterdam. It's close to numerous restaurants, cafe's and coffeeshops. Great for first time visitors. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Also, the rooms were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. Coffee machine was in the room. I think windows in the room were soundproofed because we couldn't hear anything from the outside.

We stayed at the Albus for our 10th anniversary on 10/01/21. The room was very beautiful and clean. Location was perfect since everything was I. Walking distance. Front desk was friendly and answered all our questions. We would stay here again.

We had a family room (I think it is considered as a suite). Really big, well decorated with all the facilities - and even free unlimited beer tap in the room! Hotel staff was exceptionally nice. Breakfast was ok, not something special. The location is as good as it gets - maximum 10 minutes walk to anywhere in the city center, just 1 minute walk from the flower market and the amazing Rambrandt's plein, and still the room was very silent, no noise from the street at all (and only 2nd floor). Really, nothing bad to say about this hotel, apart perhaps for the breakfast.

😐 It is a large, somewhat impersonal, completely unshaded and extremely noisy campsite (we were in the tented section).Noisy because there is a large multi-lane bridge nearby, which is still very busy at night.
