Long post from someone who never stayed at this hotel so bear with me My husband has been truly amazing supporting me as I've been struggling with family health issues so I decided for his birthday this year, I would save my money to surprise him with a trip for his birthday. I bought our plane tickets 6 months in advance leaving me plenty of time to book a hotel. I get an email from Booking saying I can get extra points if I book a hotel within the next 24 hours, so while trying to save money ironically and under stress of the time constraint, I accidentally booked this hotel for July instead of June. I caught my mistake and a few short hours later, I cancelled my nonrefundable reservation. This happened early April, meaning the short hours I booked this hotel, literally had zero effect on the hotel but a huge effect on me. Now, I understand I booked a nonrefundable room BUT with that being said, the lack of emotion or care to my situation by the receptionist was unbelievable. I called the hotel to ask what I can do and the receptionist I talked to had ZERO compassion to my situation. She honestly showed she could care less.  She didn't want to hear me out and every time I called to talk to the manager, he was conveniently never available, & on top of that, it's hard to get a hold of them so this is after trying to call multiple times. I tried to find a win-win situation where they kept my money and I could sell my room, book for another date, anything, but they wouldn't have it. They just said nothing can be done. I have been a receptionist at a hotel so I know that is just a lie. I understand there are rules to protect them but again, those short hours months in advance didn't affect the hotel, I assure you that So during my trip, I came to the hotel so upset and embarrassed with tears in my eyes and a nice receptionist actually tried to help me and called the manager, not surprising to me at all, I heard him shouting on the other end of the phone and of course nothing came out of it. Long story short, I later learned the rude receptionist that didn't want to hear me out from the beginning is the daughter of the manager who is never available. These people only care about money and should not be in the hospitality service. I hope they use my money to do something positive because from reading the horrible reviews, they don't care about your experience.

The reception staff were extremely warm and welcoming. The location is excellent. All the main tourist sites are easily accessible by foot from here. Also there is a tram stop 30 metres away that you can for ride 3 stops to get to Dam Square or 4 stops to get to the Centraal Station. Our group of three occupied a large double with a canal view and a small double. In the smaller room neither the TV nor the hair dryer worked. These were not a major problem for our occupant, but these are things that should not be left unaddressed. In both rooms, the showers were excellent; the water pressure was great and there was a choice of a hand-held or 'waterfall' shower head. Both rooms were clean. On the downside, some small housekeeping points were: when the plastic cups in the bathroom, hand towels and shower mat were removed they were not always replaced. Also the toilet rolls were not topped up. These are small things that guests would expect to happen automatically rather than having to ask for them. It did not spoil our stay, but I mention them as these are 'easy wins' for the hotel's proprietors. The room was well appointed in terms of sockets including a USB and UK power socket. It would be nice if there were some bed-side lights or some form of low-level night light so that you don't have to turn on the main light at night if going to the toilet. The large double room was a good size with a lovely view of the KeizersGracht canal. The beds were comfortable and the curtains did a great job of blocking out the street lighting, so we slept well. As this is a small hotel, there are no breakfast facilities. However, you can get free coffee, tea or hot water from the machine in reception and there is a lovely bakery, that opens at 08:00, 50 metres away on the other side of the camel. Additionally, there are numerous cafes within a two-minute walk Overall, we were very happy with our choice: clean, good sized rooms, in an excellent location and very helpful reception staff.

The first room they gave us had mold all over the whole wall. Frontdesk guy had the audacity to ask if we could sleep there till next morning. They gave us another room , which was okay, allthough the bathroom was minuscule, could barely fit one person inside. Then next morning, they wanted us to pack our stuff and move to another room AGAIN. We had 3 big suitcases, no help form anyone to move and had to rush out. Room number 3 was not reachable by the elevator so we had to take the stairs up, again no help with 3 big suitcases. If the guests are not very fit, no chance they're getting up there, since the stairs are very narrow and hard to walk up. The room was okay, bathroom was spacious, bed was fine, but the room was very cold (3 Celcius outside) and the heat did not work. Only positive thing is the location of the hotel, very good restaurants and hip stores right next to it, also cool bars. City center is only a short walk away. In that sense I would recommend it. But thats pretty much it.

Disgusting! Our room had mold in the corners and the walls were covered with dust and all sorts of nasty spots! The duvet was also covered in nasty spots, with some looking like blood. Looking under the bed was not a pleasant experience either. This hotel needs to make a thorough deep cleaning of the rooms before allowing guests in again! Our air condition broke which we made the front desk aware of. Even though the hotel had maintenance come by, they didn't bother to make sure that the issue was fixed in our room, which it wasn't... Besides all of this, towels were changed every day and sheets were clean. The location was great.

We took a chance and booked the only option left for a last-minute reservation-non refundable. Had it even been partially refundable and other vacancies been available, we would have left. We switched rooms three times-for bugs and odor. Pros: location Cons: Dirty, tiny and terrible odor. There was a distinct odor of mold and you could see it in the grout and bathroom "fan." The tile on the walls was not finished-likely leading to mold growth behind the tile. Also, be ready to step into the shower to wash your hands-no hand soap provided. There is only body wash in the shower. Towels, linens and draperies were threadbare and torn in places. There were large scuffs and damaged walls in the bedroom. We took to sleeping with our masks on. Biggest red flag-housekeeping left the window wide open every day to dissipate the odor. In December. We made it a point to stay out of the hotel as much as possible. Recommendation: Run, don't walk to another hotel.

Good location, good price, but the room was awful. The walls were stained all over, the lamps were broken. The bathroom door had extreme water damage. Housekeeping knocked on the door, immediately tried opening the door without waiting for any response despite the "do not disturb" light on. We said no when they tried entering and they replied rudely with "no?!?" We left to go to the city around 14u00. When we returned in the late evening we saw from the street that our light was on. Upon returning we saw that housekeeping came in anyways after we left. We felt this was intrusive. Do not disturb is DO NOT enter. There was no soap. There were only 3 channels on TV, and they were in German. Pointless. I would only suggest this hotel if you are on a tight budget and don't care about having a clean or functioning room.

I was expecting such a lovely hotel and a great location. The room I requested was guaranteed and the staff was lovely and the coffee they give for free is a really good incentive specially since they don’t offer breakfast. But there is a lovely breakfast bakery and bar outside there’s a few options. But so many shops outside and we found a shortcut to Dam square about 7-9 mins walk. There is a tram stop right outside the hotel. Lovely in Christmas and we enjoyed 3 nights there. I really enjoyed staying there and I would highly recommended it. Yes the room is small but the bathroom is big. Apart from that towels, you can’t fault the hotel. It is probably the best 3 star I have stayed at. The hotel is infront of the canal and it’s very beautiful!!

Overall, was happy with these accommodations. We booked fairly late, during Amsterdam Pride, so we were glad to find a place that was affordable. The people at reception were very friendly and helpful. They quickly got us checked in (even though we were there at 9am and check-in was at 2pm). The rooms were ok, not huge, but more than enough room for the two of us. They were clean enough (washroom fan and ceiling could use a deeper clean). Location is great, 10 min walk from the nearest station and just two stops from Amsterdam Central. I was worried after reading some of the reviews, but thrilled after we got in! Don't expect a palace, just a nice, comfortable place to rest in between walking around Amsterdam!

Excellent location and cannot fault the service. A lot of potential for this hotel if they had shower screens. Cleanliness of the rooms could be better. I struggled to sleep and got bitten 15 times from mosquito. Going by previous reviews this hotel has a clear mosquito issue

24 min walk from the station was actually 30 min fast walk. Tiniest room I have ever seen, totally misleading room photos. Noisy, woke up at every entry/exit of neighbouring rooms. At 8:30 they actually started vacuming outside my room. No breakfast.

Nice and clean hotel, we booked a small double with canal view, the room was clean and ready for us on arrival, just a little smaller than imagined, but not a issue, would off given 5 stars only the AC wasn't working in the hotel and as our luck would have it, we picked to go on one of the hottest weekends in June.

Nice staff, Great location, Room had filthy walls with footmarks all over, blood on walls, blood on mattress, eaten alive by bedbugs, Shower faulty, Air con not working, Would love to leave a good review but almost a week later I'm still itching, won't be back but thank you for the service either way. Outside hotel can be dodgy at night

Well, where to start. The room was tiny, and I mean really small. Got a bigger fella like me, it was difficult to dry of after a shower and there was just enough for standing room along the bed. If that wasn't enough, the walls were paper thin and I could everything going on outside the room. Stained sheets, dirty shower handles, a fork stuck in to keep the shower went open, broken skirting boards, a torn curtain and tons of scuff marks on the walls made the room feel everything but cozy and well-kept. On the upside, it came with an AC and the windows could be opened so it was fairly easy to keep the air fresh. Bed was hard but I like that. Location is good, with walking distance to the entire city center. Plenty of restaurants and a tram right outside. Staff was kind of short with me. I asked for stuff a few times and always felt like I was bothering them. Couldn't even manage to scrounge up a fork to lend me when the my take away didn't include one. House keeping kept knocking even though the "Do not disturb"-indicator was on. All in all, I think I'll book some other hotel next time I visit.

Location is good. However, rooms are really small. Its not hotel, kind of lodge with no amenities. Kindly confirm the room size before booking. Beds are not at all comfortable.

Horrible ! We arrived at 8pm as we said to them 2 days before and despite saying 24 hours front desk there was no one at the reception! We tried to call them but no respond. We waited 2 hours outside in January for finally get an other hotel. The next day by morning, still nobody… it’s inacceptable to let people outside without warning them ! Highly NOT recommend.

The hotel at least has lift even though just two people fit in it, anyways, they can change towels and bed sheet for new ones, I paid over 300 a night just because i needed but the hotel doesn’t cost that much. Location is very good close to main attractions, we walked to red district 10-12 mins, and many restaurants and stores around the place. Room are very small but for one night just to sleep is good. Night shift man is very rude, the day one was ok.

Worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Blood in the bed, mold in the ceiling, water that came from the floor walking on it. Bad service and bad manager at the hotel. Not clean at all. I needed to check out after one night since this is the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel.

Very good location. The prices are normal for what the hotel provides. Just a little dust but it was ok for a few nights to stay.

Nice location little far from center but you can walk 10 minutes and there is tram station just outdoor 17 minutes walk away from central station Room quality is not bad every day cleaning service A bit small room but good enough The service is average not bad There's free coffee corner in reception Prices in average too I recommend that place for medium price averages

The room I had was a bit rundown, but it was clean enough. Could do with nicer flooring, painting the walls that are covered in marks and scuffs, for the price, you'd kind of want that basic stuff covered.

Good central location. The room was small. The bathroom was a non sens with water from the shower running into the bedroom.. Nice lady at the reception

Perfect location, friendly staff but the rooms need updating. Walls were marked and the TV remote was missing and when I asked for one I was given one and told it would work... It didn't.

The pictures are so inaccurate in sizes of rooms. Good luck trying to fit two people in there. There is no soap, shampoo or conditioner. Staff was super rude and wouldn’t give us any form of refund. The beds have pilling all over the mattress, it feels like you’re sleeping on bugs. The shower got water everywhere, there was no deeper portion that allowed the water to sink through. By far, one of the worst stays ever.

The location of the hotel is not bad, but we got 2 rooms for 3 days in August and it was impossible to stay inside: the rooms felt like a furnace, as they don't have air conditioning and the fan we got was no help. After a sleepless night, we gave up and decided to go somewhere else, but as we booked the rooms directly through the hotel website, the hotel owner didn't give us anything back, even if it was not really our fault the conditions didn't allow us to stay in. So, we paid almost €1,200 for 2 rooms for 3 days and got nothing back even though the temperature inside the rooms were sickening hot. Never again!

If I could have put 0 stars I would have. The manager is horrible I never saw that in my entire life. I made a reservation by Booking.com and it was not refundable. This reservation was a mistake and I called the hotel to tell them like 30minutes after the reservation. The told me to call booking and that’s what I’ve done. Booking sent a email to the hotel asking them to refund me because it was a mistake. When I came to the hotel to be sure that they were going to refund me they told me that it was okay and that I will have my money back. From here, everything is okay. But I received a email from booking telling me that I was going to pay. I called the hotel to have the manager. I never saw someone so impolite, disrespectful and rude. She kept telling me that it doesn’t matter if it was a mistake. I’m a student I don t have a lot of money and they didn’t want to refund me. She kept telling me that they had the room ready for us even if I told her that we warn them 30minutes after the reservation. I stayed 20min at the phone with her and she was having the same speech again and again. I don’t recommend this hotel. They are dishonest and real scammers. Don’t go there, you will find plenty of other nice hotels (much better than this one)

nice and clean, the canal view is not WOW since it's not on the canal, only part of the canal appeared. friendly staff and good location 1.2 km to downtown

I’ve never slept in such a terrible room. You’re just getting scammed because it doesn’t look like the pictures and you don’t get anything that’s promised. Room is just dirty and old. Incredibly hot because there is no air conditioning. The towels are frayed and the tap is loose. Everything about this room is just incredibly poor. Please don’t waste your money here.

If I could give 0 stars, I definitely would have. The room is nothing like the pictures! It had dust and mold everywhere. Looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years. I felt so uncomfortable staying there. The room is tiny and unfinished. The design is so poor that the water of the shower just overflows into the bedroom because there is no door. The ac doesn’t work, which makes the room really damp and hot. Almost impossible to sleep. The toilet wasn’t flushed and the tv doesn’t work. The people weren’t helpful either and seemed rather uninterested. Way too overpriced for this bad room. Stay as far away as you can!

The hotel from outside looks like Dracula's house. The hotel inside is very small but cozy. The receptionists could be much better, when we arrived, it was not a warm welcome. They explained everything very fast, we asked for breakfast and they told us they don't serve it, that's ok, but at least some recommendations would be nice in exchange for the lack of service, but they didn't care/mention or worry about it. In 3 days we didn't hear "if you need anything please let us know". The room was not for a hotel of 3 stars; - Water from the shower spilled out a lot. not even something to put on the floor. - Not even a glass to leave your toothbrush. - The window was not closing well so the wind was getting inside the room. - The walls were like a group of kids were drowning on it. Everything with marks all around. - TV was not working. - Lights, half of it were not working. - Only one pillow for the bed. - The mattress, I could feel textile balls under the sheets. - We heard the complaints from another room about a mouse in their room behind the closet, they didn't even apologize! - No exterior areas to smoke or take new air. So if it's raining and you want to take some air, open your window. - Shampoo and gel, buy something by yourself, the quality is horrible. The location was the best, easy to get there walking from any part of the canals area. They have a free coffee machine. Not a bad experience, but the hotel is not worth it.
