This hostel offers a simple and enjoyable experience. The internal bar offers a great place to relax and play pool or board games. Location is central but quite directly on a beautiful canal. Only complaint is the relatively warm rooms

Excellent value for money. The hostel is in a quiet part of Amsterdam just a short walk from the red light district and main square. Staff were very helpful and friendly, the hostel was very clean including communal areas and the hostel had a good atmosphere. Plenty of activities in the bar area to meet people and chat but quiet enough to sleep at night in rooms. We had a great stay!

Great place to stay. This was my first European hostel stay and it was truly awesome - staff was very nice and easy to talk to. It was a 20 person all girls/women room which I was nervous about but it never felt like 20 girls/women. Everything was very clean. The lockers are in the locked entry way, easy to access. The bathrooms are coed which isn't a problem at all, I maybe saw 2 guys in there the whole time and when I did see them it wasn't weird because the bathroom and shower stalls are separate. The bar area is great as well.

A good experience. We came to Amsterdam without a hostel booked (lesson learned), and we're fortunate that this one had room for us since most were already full (weekend in the summer, peak tourist season). We paid more than I expected to pay for a hostel ($60 each), but it was that or no lodging so we were fine with it given our situation. The staff were all very nice and helpful, they worked things out so that although my group of 6 would be split up, we would he split 2-2-2. The rooms were clean, simple, well arranged. Bathrooms were alright, not dirty but not as clean as I would prefer. Your given a package of linens with your stay, towels are 4.50€. The beds each have a small light above them with an outlet built in, so easy access for phone chargers. For one night, it was overall a very good stay. In a good location as well.

The location is great. The bathrooms are not as clean as they could due to the crowds of people that stay here. Probably cleaner during the week as opposed to the weekends. Didn't see any elevators even though the building has over 3 stories. You can, however, meet cool people who are also backpacking. They can give you information on tourist sites and book tickets for you at the reception at better prices.

Bathrooms are a lot better than what I've seen in other youth hostels. The showers are not that bad, warm water actually works. The bar is nice and has friendly staff, but it closes very early in the evening, around 10 or 11pm. Only the reception staff are sometimes not very friendly, or might even get you to pay for your stay twice, after you've already paid online while booking. Best bring a payment confirmation to show when checking in.

I stayed here for three days at the beginning of May 2018, and had a great experience. The place is clean and well run. The staff are friendly and helpful. I was at least twice as old as everyone in the place, and this was not an issue at any time. If you're an older person and can handle the spartan accommodations of a youth hostel, you will be happy at Stayokay. I wouldn't hesitate to book a bed at this establishment again.

Friendly and helpful staff always on hand. Fresh linens provided upon entry. Plenty of space for belongings and lockers available. Room felt large enough and never too crowded. Always well cleaned. Windows and walls unfortunately didn't block noise from other guests or outside but not much can be done. Showers and toilets kept clean although there was an odd smell sometimes. Again nothing can be done it about unfortunately. All in all a great stay.

Perfect location, certainly inside of Vondelpark (a magic place) and near from all bars and coffee shops. Undoubtedly we will back to this hostel in amsterdam.

This is more a memory than a review, so forgive me, please. I stayed here (I think it was the same house - but certainly same location. I recognise the front door), in 1971, when on a university art history research trip abroad. 1971 - the old days, when I was not old! It's a great location still. I loved Amsterdam and the, then, hostel made a superb starting point for discovering the city and the galleries. I was on a strict budget (£50/€ covered the entire 6 weeks' trip to Belgium and the Netherlands, I travelled and hitched around). My stay was 3 days, the rooms clean and the food great. We had a communal kitchen, first time I ever ate a shared cauliflower curry. Great memories, lovely house. Have fun in Amsterdam and respect the city.

We stayed two nights in a twin room (they didn't have doubles) on the top floor. The location itself is pretty good if you want to stay near the red light district but get away from all the hustle and bustle. We used the mixed bathrooms on the second floor on the first night but found them dirty (hair and dirt) so we used the single shower on the top floor the second night which was adequate. The staff were nice. We won't be staying here again.

My honest review. Not an ideal place to stay if you’re a couple. We had a private room on the top floor , we both had 20kg suitcases we had to take up 6 flights of stairs. *They don’t have lifts* Our room had bunk beds (again not ideal for couples) the bathroom was on a different floor to our room. All the doors slam shut in the hostel , The walls are thin so you hear every door shut. Breakfast wasn’t included, you had to pay around $5 each which was just muffins, doughnuts and croissants. If you didn’t bring a towel you had to hire one. And you also have to make and strip your own beds.

Expect to have 20 roommates in a room. It's neat and staff are friendly. But could get better privacy if the upper bed has some sort of cover or better partition between two beds.

Great location but we were disappointed about few things, you must pay for towel, locker, storage and hair dryer. The rooms are clean but I was shocked when we realize we have to make and unravel our beds lool. The price of the beers are pretty expensive ( in the hostel bar). Toilets are not really clean but not too bad.

Tini is very rough and rasist with people who come from outside(foreigners). she hasard very impudent, rude, dirty and envious heart. We ask the manager of "STAY OK" don't to put her working here anymore, because of her low mentalitation(thinking that all people who come from outside is bad and more low than people from here), maybe it's because her parents is rasist, but we really fill not good because her sick mental attitude she makes us feel very bad and make us realy realy upset and when she doing upset persone she feels good. Please not let her work here to give us a foods, because she doing it during when we ask food!

A good to splendid hostel just 2 minutes walk away from market and red light district. I likes the fact that it has a nice bar and a no none sense lounge. Staff were friendly and the beds were as good as any. Easy to find as it fronts onto a canal opposite a college.

Excellent hostel, friendly people, very clean rooms, toilets and bathroom! The lounge and bar are also very cosy. Breakfast is also very good and will fill you up! (be mindful though, it is not an open breakfast, you only have limited options, so you can't ask to have a lunchpack made). In general, I enjoyed the stay a lot for the relative cheap price I paid

Its just a dormitory, and don't wait anything more. Besides, even we booked 10 beds dormitories, they give us beds from 20 beds dormitory. Actually we were so tired so that we didn't say anything... In my opinion, you can find more cheaper hotel with more facilities and more friendly customer services..

The Stayokay Amsterdam Stadsdoelen hostel is located in a perfect location in the center of historic Amsterdam, and is walking distance from the Amsterdam Centraal train station. Check-in was quick and easy, and the accommodations were perfect for what I was looking for during my two-night stay. The staff at the front desk and the bar were friendly, and the bathroom was clean. Definitely would recommend to other travelers.

Worth staying. All good and all set. Worth staying place. A good Bar & brake fast facilities. Even they provide a hot water so you can make your ready food there. I must say a good & supporting staff there.

Would stay again. Edit 19/12/19: Dude, you're so welcome. Wish I had written more. Don't know why I put 4 stars, corrected it now! Thank you for replying.

Just a great, clean hostel. Only steps away from all of the action! Harder to beat in terms of value for location when compared to other options around the area. If you are planning to stay out and about to only sleep and shower here, you can’t beat it. Totally fine for seasoned backpackers but not so much if this is the first hostel you stay at. Enjoy Amsterdam!

Nice hostel and good staff. We rented bikes from King Bikes company. Not so far from the hotel. Good bikes and prices
