The hotel lobby and restaurant were beautiful. Very stylish. The room wasn't what we expected. The bed was located on the top floor (low ceiling) and to go to the bathroom we needed to go downstairs through a very steep and narrow stair. We needed to go up and down all the time to use the bathroom, to get our things from the suitcase and to change the heating temperature. We're in our 30s and we found it tricky. They should have advised people about it. Another thing that wasn't good was the see through bathrooms (dark glass instead of walls). Not ideal. Also, the bathroom had old stains in the sink and toilet. The hotel walls were thin, we could hear people in the other rooms and cars from the street. The hotel is located at a nice park in a beautiful historical building but some basic things could be better. For the price we paid we were expecting something nicer as it's supposed to be a 4 stars hotel. There wasn't even a bottle of water in the room...

Ignorance Leading to a Grave Incident Our recent stay at Hotel Arena turned out to be one of the most disturbing experiences we've ever encountered. What my wife experienced due to the hotel staff's negligence left us both in shock, and the subsequent reaction from the management only added to our distress. Before even arriving at the hotel, I had a taste of the inconsistencies that lay ahead. Upon finally securing a room with a bath after an upgrade, we were hopeful for a comfortable stay. However, our hopes quickly dimmed when our room had no warm water. In an attempt to remedy the situation, the hotel offered us another "upgraded" room. But this room had a faulty A/C unit that dripped and disrupted our rest. During a visit by technicians to address the A/C problem, one of them, without any warning or the decency of a knock, intruded into our bathroom where my wife was present. This blatant invasion of privacy is not only unprofessional but borders on harassment, leaving us horrified. Rushing to the front desk to report this egregious behavior, we were met with nothing more than tepid apologies. The audacity of the management, attempting to dissuade us from going to the police, was a clear sign of their indifference to the gravity of the situation. Their primary concern, seemingly, was to brush the incident under the rug and move on. Looking back, it’s clear that the root of our traumatic experience was the hotel's repeated ignorance: 1. Their failure to check basic amenities such as the availability of warm water. 2. Not ensuring that the second room was up to standard. 3. A profound lack of training and oversight of their staff, leading to the alarming bathroom incident. Our departure was the final testament to their apathy. Their only inquiry? Whether we had involved the police. Their complete disregard for our emotional and psychological wellbeing was painfully apparent.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The location is lovely. Here are the pros and cons of this hotel... PROS: beautiful hotel, calm location, the restaurant has a great atmosphere, the hotel is relatively central and not too crowded. The service was good and the staff helpful. Brekky was included and was okay with relative variety. CONS: The bed was particularly uncomfortable with a mattress topper that wasn't attached and therefore moved during the night. I was left with a back ache. The blinds didn't fully close, which let the light in early in the morning from 4am. Overall I didn't think it was good value for money. Additionally I think information about extra taxes should be clearer from booking. It was clear there would be a charge, but not how much.

Great rooms and situated right in front of a beautiful park that's packed full of life. The restaurant attached has a great vibe and serves good food. The only problem was the surprise room deposit, which was very expensive. If buying through a package deal company they dint tell you about this so bring some extra change.

Over all stay was good, we paid for the superior double room the bath was amazing. Hygiene definitely let it down I had to clean bathroom before use and the floors were not very clean, because of this we did not eat at the restaurant or claim the welcome drinks. There was a funny smell in room but think it was down to the drains. Comfy bed. Staff on desk were really friendly and helpful just think the maids weren’t great.

Mind the hotel policies!!! They are all about making money and not about the guests. We made a non-refundable reservation, but given COVID issues we could not travel the dates. We reached out to the hotel directly and first, they confirmed that they agree with a free-of-charge cancellation, but they changed their minds, invoking their policies and also denying their first commitment. They refused any sort of other arrangements - vouchers, partial refund, change of date. All being based on "this is our policy" without any regard to customer experience. Awful customer experience! Too bad for the hotel, but the way they treat their guests is a total rip-off,

Even though I booked a superior room, they said the hotel is fully booked. That is why I need to stay in a classic room but they charged me a superior room price. Also, they charged more money than the agreed price without my authorization. THEY COPIED MY CREDIT CARD DETAILS. DO NOT GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS TO THIS HOTEL THEY ARE FRAUD

Nice Hotel with a very cool vibe. The service was lovely. The 2 level room takes getting used to (perhaps difficult for less mobile people). Otherwise really nice. The breakfast buffet is ok (22euros). Very busy at night due to multiple halls being rented out for events. However, you cant hear any of the noise in the room.

Beautiful hotel, a very nice lobby and pretty surroundings. We took the loft room with 2 floors, it was a bit tight but very nice. Staff was nice and the room was very clean. There was a dance event at the time, and it got very loud at 9am when they were unpacking equipment right in front of our window and the receptionist didn’t really help.

Great hotel in an excellent relaxed setting literally within a major park. While I personally love the rooms, I can see that they may be problematic for some as rooms are split into two levels with a narrow twisty staircase connecting them. So if need to use the bathroom at night, have to go down the twisty narrow stairs to get to the bathroom, and then back. But that is the only complaint.

We walked past the hotel and decided to stay there spontaneously as it looked absolutely beautiful. I pre-booked and paid online. It was past 11 PM when we arrived to check in. The person at the check in desk seemed untrained and it took 10 minutes for us to receive the keys. We didn't get a description how to find the room which we thought would be quite straightforward. Well it wasn't, it took a corridor, a lift, a door, another corridor, going through another lift area with two doors and there it was. The room was spacious and pretty but had a disgusting smell of sewage. When entering the bathroom we also discovered that the toilet brush was full of paper. The bed was big but the moving sheet, which left a blank mattress, made the night uncomfortable. Also the bed did a Moses and divided like the red sea so every night one of us sunk into the middle. In the morning when trying to rearrange the bed we saw dust everywhere on the floor. We complained at the desk about the sewage smell which was gone when we returned in the evening but it came back during our last night. A room like this should not be given out in the first place. After the second day of cleaning the cleaner also removed our second room key which you need to keep the electricity going..

The hotel is located on the edge of a beautiful park and the hotel was once a church. I have in two rooms one on the ground floor and one on the top floor. Both rooms were very good with very comfortable beds and excellent showers. The restaurant was amazing, I ate indoors and outdoors with excellent service both times. Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice. All the staff were exceptional and always very friendly. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

Hotel nice but not as good as other 4 star hotels i have visited. Restaurant cook needs to learn English as well done means NO RED in the meat. Daughter had Beefburger that was uneatable. Sent it back and still got a replacement that was RED inside. This is unacceptable for a 4 star hotel anywhere if you tell them, which we did. Servers were excellent and reception staff also excellent. Restaurant area really lets the hotel down. If we ever come back to Amsterdam, and we probably will, it will not be to this hotel.

My partner and I stayed here for 4 nights. Upon arrival we were told we would have to pay €199 for the room & city tax. This was not made aware to us prior to arriving. We also did not have our room cleaned during our stay, despite leaving the ‘please clean my room’ sign on our door. Overall, we enjoyed our stay but there could have been a few things that would have made our stay better.

Excellent service from the staff. Had to move room because of ‘plumbing’ noises at night but very comfortable room and we were moved without issue. A little further from the centre than we would ideally have liked but getting trams around was no problem.

Location was great. However room not so great. Two single beds, no blinds or curtain’s for nighttime. Little space for clothes. Room service wasn’t until 4:30pm. Had to ask for towels twice as they weren’t replaced just take away. After the stay we were charged for breakfast that we did not have. Spoke to the receptionist about this and he realised it was a mistake. The money was still taken off and refund not been approved!

Stayed here recently when visiting Amsterdam for the first time, I don't think I'd want to stay anywhere else 😊 Location is great, there are two tram stops about 8/11 mins away so you can get to everywhere easily, which is great when you're a tourist. The park the hotel faces is also beautiful. The building itself is stunning but eery, but don't let that put you off as nothing supernatural happened to us 🤣 beds were super comfy and really appreciated that each time our room was serviced they gave us free water and new coffee pods 😊

Absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Arena. Love the contrast between old and new. Really comfortable and relaxed area. Room was lovely, one of the best beds I’ve slept in! Shower was lovely as well. Love the whole green concept. Restaurant served good food and cocktails. Will definitely be returning again!! Not to far from the city centre, if you was to walk would take about half hour, or Uber for €9. Lots of spaces for meetings so also good for those in business trips and or functions. Would be even better if there was a gym 🫣

Love hotel arena, fantastic spacious rooms, great service and food. The park just outside is wonderful for a morning run! I can highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.

Lovely hotel, wonderful friendly staff and would visit again. I would only have to make sure of room number, as a 'cosy room' will be a flat rate but dependant on room availability and the disparity between the rooms is very large. Our first room was very small and uncomfortable indeed, we asked to move and the staff were understanding but couldn't change us until our last night as they were fully booked. Our new room was lovely and is the ones you see on the website.

Absolutely stunning, classy hotel with exceptionally friendly staff that goes beyond their way to make sure all your needs as a guest are met. The breakfast is varied and high quality, and the food is exquisite. As for the location, located at the park it's a great scenic place and it's easy to get to the city center from the hotel itself. Highly recommended and we will be coming back a lot more to this wonderful classy hotel.

We stayed here for 2 nights in this lovely hotel. I really liked the feel and atmosphere of it. The woman who checked us in was very helpful. There are big lockers to store your luggage if you're early which was great, made it feel more secure instead of a random cupboard. Our room was really nice. It was a 'cosy room' on one level. No view but to be expected with the less expensive room type. It was beside one of the elevators so this could be heard during the night but didn't keep me awake unlike my husband who has difficulty getting to sleep anyway. The bar area was very nice next to the fire to celebrate with a drink for my birthday 😊

Has no right to call itself a 4* hotel. Saturday night, rainy evening in Amsterdam. You go back to your hotel that costs 300EUR+ hoping to get dinner. The restaurant is booked for private service. OK, can I get room service please? The answer is NO, we’re too busy today. It’s virtually impossible to book a table on the spot on a Saturday evening in Amsterdam. You’d hope a 4* hotel offer you some help, suggestions, *anything*. Nope, they just don’t care. Also: barebones empty rooms. The building itself is beautiful. But the price/service quality ratio is insane. IBIS Budget service with a price tag of Soho House. Stay away. UPDATE: The passive aggressive response is a perfect example of the service there. First of all, you have no idea of what the agreement is between me and the company that was covering the stay, and you shouldn’t even disclose this. Second, no one offered me any help, that is simply not true. I was offered cold bar snacks. That is simply not how a 4* hotel operates, and the response just adds insult to injury. Hopefully people reading this will stay away, and you guys finally learn what proper hospitality is.

We stayed here for four nights and had a lovely visit. The hotel has alot of character due to its long history but its also been modernised and looks beautiful inside. Staff were friendly and helpful during our stay too! The location is great if you don't want to be right in the thick of Central Amsterdam. There's a lovely park right outside and travel via tram into Central is close by and only a short ride. The only negatives we had were the booking isn't very clear that you have to pay a €50 deposit per night of your stay and a city tax on top of that. So just be aware of that when making a booking! Our only other negative was the room we booked was a double bed but the bed was actually two singles pushed together and they would slide apart from each other.

It's an old building with a lot of history but maintained as if it was built yesterday. It has a beautiful locations right next to the park and rooms are beautiful. There is also a windmill at walking distance next to the canal.

Definitely one of the best hotel experiences everrrr.. I took the superior room, and it was bigger than 90% of Amsterdam's apartments. Great views, the park is great for a walk any time of the day. It's quite, luxurious, and not expensive at all. This will definitely be my first option whenever I visit Amsterdam. Keep up the good work! 👍

Stayed for 2 nights and loved it, the rooms are original, spacious and quiet. The mattress is a little on the soft side for my taste but did sleep well!

Beautiful room, room is original and cozy. Everything was clean and neat. 4* because some stuff isn't well thought like no lock for the bathroom or the air conditioning on the first floor (bed in second one). Also : tons of mosquitos!!! Park is awesome

The first room we had didn't had heating, cant open any windows, the bed was too soft.. had bad experince But then we asked to move a room to the garden room which was very nice all around. Great location and nice stuff

Truly beautiful location with its own natural park and transportation close by. The hotel has a sophisticated yet simple look. Really fits that minimal yet modern lifestyle. Definitely recommend going there even if it's just for the bar/restaurant.

Amazing & Elegant Parkside Hotel Set in the scenic Oosterpark recreation area in southeast Amsterdam, Hotel Arena (impressive history of the building!) had everything that I desired: great connection to the airport, Centraal Station is reached via a short walk to Weesperplein Metro (~14 mins) + outstanding facilities. My room had a spacious, big comfortable bed, a great living space area, a clean bathroom and you can relax peacefully as it is a quiet area. The staff was always very attentive to my needs, friendly, kind, and on the clock (if you need anything overnight). Overall my experience was excellent and I'm grateful for all the beautiful people that I met during my stay there. THANK YOU, Hotel Arena for making me feel welcome, till next time stay safe and awesome!

Amazing quirky hotel, love the attention to detail and the restaurant is good for both breakfast and dinner. You can walk into town as we did most days otherwise as with most cities, there is great and efficient public transport. Would love to stay again!

the hotel building is very nice, the hotel itself is located in a good location especially if you come by car and has a great garage that costs 34 € per day, only the rooms are original, the cafe and the hotel itself is very nice especially the fireplace, cakes and food are delicious . what the hotel needs to improve is the hygiene of the rooms must be better cleaned and in time it happens that they are not tidy until 5 pm so for half a day you do not have clean towels, especially in the bathroom there are no accessories such as (hair cap, ear sticks, hair shampoo) ) a hotel of this rank should have those things. I'll be back to this hotel anyway

We couldn't come due to the storm. They didn't cooperate at all and just refused any sort of arrangements, even though we had booked with free cancellation. They wouldn't accept a change of date or partial refund and they only referred to "their policies". On top of that, they were extremely rude in their communication. Really awful customer experience!

What a unique and beautiful hotel. It's right in a park and the outside looks like an old church. Our room had 2 floors. The main floor had a desk, bathroom and fridge then there was a set of stairs that brought you up to the bed. A little outside of the main downtown area but a nice neighborhood to have started my trip.

Hotel forces a 100 euro "authorisation" when checking in. This wasn't an authorisation but a charge that is supposed.to be returned at the end of the stay. As you are probably using a card from a different country, your bank will charge you an additional cost - in my case £2.52. I didn't want to pay the 100 as I didn't want to use any additional services but they forced me to pay promising I won't be charged any fees by my bank. I had trouble getting my 100 from reception and I expect my bank will charge me a fee again when the money is returned to my account.

My stay at the Hotel Arena was a great experience. The architecture of the historic old building was impressive at first sight. My flight arrived early and the hotel had lockers for their guests, which was convenient while the room was being prepared. The attached restaurant was a perfect place to wait. The staff is young and helpful. When my cell phone went missing, the girl in the front went out of her way to help me find it. Another staff member offered a private tour of the attached cathedral while it was closed. It's usually a venue for events and club nights and is beautiful and is historic yet includes modern details and chic bar. My room was on the top floor and it had the feel of a charming french apartment, though it seems most rooms are unique. It is located a short walk from the tram, which will take you throughout the city. I recommend the Hotel Arena and hope to be a guest again one day. Thank you!

Overall our stay was good, lovely building, quite/relaxing, food was lovely. However the cleanliness was not good at all, I don't think the room had been cleaned before we got there other than the bed sheets. Dirt marks on the floor and side tables and cobwebs which really let the stay down. We also went to the restaurant the food was lovely however we waiting over 2 1/2 hours to get a main and dessert. Needs more staff and better attention to detail.

We had our wedding here on July 22 2022, and it was absolutely perfect. I wanted to say thank you SO much to the Hotel staff, our coordinator Adrienne and Eduardo, the head chef Pablo, all of the servers - everyone was just outstanding! It really was the best day of our lives and we owe a lot of that to you and your team. Every detail was absolutely perfect and all of our friends and family who stayed in the hotel had nothing but nice things to say. We ended up having a few meals at the hotel over the course of the week as well and every experience was great. Even the owner came by to check on us the night before and day after our wedding which was a really nice gesture. Our room was fantastic as well, and all the small touches like the champagne delivered to our respective rooms, and the night before, don't go unnoticed. When I say every aspect was perfect, I truly mean it - it actually exceeded expectations. I couldn't have imagined a more incredible location - we had guests coming in from over 30 countries so they did a great job of making sure our requests were incorporated so we could have a 'international' feeling.

The hotel is located in a former old church, on the edges of a nice park. The building and the location are great, the rooms are a bit small, but certainly having a strong and nice character. Breakfast is OK, till 10.30. The restaurant is ok, nice ambience with park view and beautiful terrace, but food is all very salty and staff needs to be a bit more kind and competent. We came for tourism and we went around the city walking, thanks to the hotel perfect location.

We were in Amsterdam for part of our Honeymoon! Booked one of the suites. Our particular suite had a huge jacuzzi bath and a separate shower. There were stairs up to the bedroom in a loft area, it was a bit weird but we kinda dug it. The location was a 25 minute walk from downtown Amsterdam, which we liked because we were out of the tourist area. The staff was very friendly. They had a restaurant on property which we loved and we had the best steak and bitterballen there! Highly recommend staying here.

I had a lovely stay here. I was visiting my daughter, who is at University, for the weekend and the location was perfect: quiet but still only a short stroll into the city centre. The room was spotless and I was welcomed with a free drinks voucher as I'd been randomly selected as 'guest of the day' which I thought was a lovely touch. I will definitely be using this hotel again.
