Great location in the heart of Amsterdam housed in a historic building. Exceeded my expectations across the board. We had a suite facing the canal that was spacious and nicely furnished. Housekeeping kept it immaculate. The staff at the front desk couldn’t have been more accommodating. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and the ambiance in the restaurant (indoor, garden room or courtyard) suits all tastes. It was my first time at this venue but certainly will not be my last. Only item that I thought needs improvement is their room service dining menu which has limited selections.

Lovely hotel in a perfect location. 2 wonderful restaurants- one fine dining and one more casual. Rooms are clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Shower was amazing. The staff couldn’t do enough for you they were truly fantastic- everyone from the doorman to the reception staff to the cleaners to the restaurant staff. Pool/jacuzzi was slightly cold but a nice experience.

Very nice stay. Rooms are beautiful. Proximity to red light and canals is simply out the window yet the place is quiet and private. Spa amenities are very nice. Only thing was there were an unusual number of flies (a lot) in the restaurant on the windows, possibly due to the live potted plants?

Beautiful well appointed 5-star hotel in a historically important building. Centrally located near several attractions, tram and bus lines. Service is incomparable. Two restaurants on site, one formal, one casual. Excellent breakfast buffet included in room rate

What a fancy nice comfy hotel right in the heart of Amsterdam! Yet very quite and a peaceful refuge from all the hubbub of the streets and canals. We got in from a super early flight and they let us use the spa to shower and clean up while they got our room ready. The breakfast is huge with tons of fresh pastries, fruit, cheeses and other options on the buffet, as well as a menu to pick from for things like crepes and waffles. The bed is very comfy and the staff were super nice and professional and helpful always.

We had a lovely time at The Grand! The front desk and wait staff were terrific! Everyone was very pleasant. The hotel was clean and well maintained. The food at the breakfast buffet was amazing. Great location for a relaxing time.

If you really want to be in the center of Amsterdam, this is the place to stay, the service is very warm, excellent in my opinion. The views are ok, you can see the canals but that's it, it's not the countryside as you can imagine. I stayed with my wife and my 6-month-old baby, they were really nice to him. The breakfasts are delicious.

I can easily say, this is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The staff are amazing, the rooms are wonderful, the beds are heavenly and the food is delicious. In one word I can describe this hotel as whimsical. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING AND FOR MAKING ME FEEL AT HOME.

I travel a lot for work to many countries around the world and this is definitely the hotel where I have received the best service. The affable character of the Dutch together with the professionalism of the staff and the management of this hotel have achieved perfection. Checkin / Check out fast and effective. Large, modern and clean room. The breakfast very good. I did not visit the restaurants because there were no reservations. The concierge service is super effective. Use them for suggestions and reservations for tours and restaurants. A beautiful hotel with perfect views and very convenient location Also, I forgot items in the room and they shipped them to the US at no cost to me. Very good experience actually.

A delightful experience from entry to departure, great staff team to add value and creature comforts, sumptuous breakfasts, rooms to suit all needs... ours was a quiet oasis in a central location, situated at the peaceful part of a very busy Centraal area - "Best of both worlds". Overall magnificent ✨️

What an incredible hotel! The location, amenities and people were absolutely wonderful and did everything to make our stay a memorable experience. We enjoy riding bikes and exploring the area. The accommodations were fantastic and our room was beautiful! Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful and always went above and beyond to make sure we were well cared for. Highly recommend!!!

A beautiful, old historic building in the centre of Amsterdam. My wife and I stayed here for a special birthday. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train station and is easy to find. Upon arrival we were greeted well, our bags taken and a complimentary drink offered. Staff were pleasant and welcoming, showing us to our room whilst detailing interesting parts of the hotel. Unfortunately pre-booked flowers were missing from the room but this was rectified the next day, generously, which was most appreciated. The room was well furnished with a luxury feel, a comfortable bed and modern bathroom. We enjoyed beautiful views from the top floor over the canal and town. Glasses are provided in the room but no water, for environmental reasons it’s suggested to drink the tap water. Bottled water is available on request but I feel it should be pre-provided in a 5 star hotel. Breakfast was delicious, the omelette a particular highlight and the selection of meats, cheeses, breads and many other treats were abundant and of high quality. There a nice little intimate bar in the hotel serving cocktails and whiskey which we enjoyed. We had a great stay and I’d certainly consider this hotel again when visiting this beautiful city.

The staff, atmosphere, and service at this hotel are truly exceptional, surpassing any other establishment. During our stay, I unfortunately had an accident in the shower and injured my knee. However, the assistance we received, as well as the care provided to our fellow guests, was truly outstanding. The attention to detail and proactive approach to fulfilling our needs was nothing short of magical. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel to anyone seeking luxury, genuine hospitality, and the best service imaginable!

What a wonderful hotel! I arrived Monday afternoon and had Spa appointments scheduled at 3pm. I was a bit frustrated at first because although my room wasn't ready (totally okay) I was hoping someone would be able to assist me at the Spa, however there is no dedicated receptionist. I had to go back down to the Lobby twice for assistance, to get in, and to be shown the facilities. All of the frustration soon faded as I received the BEST massage I have ever had from Angela, and the Concierge Patricia stepped in to make sure I was cared for and taken care of before and after my treatments. The rest of the stay was a dream. Although the room was a bit dated, it was still wonderful. It was brought to my attention numerous times that a renovation would be taking place in the future, however that didn't help me in the present. so maybe don't bring that up so often? Everyone was very pleasant, friendly and helpful. BIG thank you to Val at the Flying Dutchman Bar for the best drinks and personality you could ask for from a bartender. Another very special thank you to Stan Cremers, who was also extremely helpful and was the only person who said yes to my requests when everyone else said no. :) Can't wait to come back!

I do like that the staff remembers my name. I do like that the restaurant is always accommodating even on fully booked evenings. The gym is less that. The teas in the chambers are lovely, especially the Roobois which I do prefer to earl grey. What could make it better, more recommendations that make your guests experience events happening “now” in Amsterdamn. That makes it all the more special. I love the opera and the ballet. I love jazz and live performances. I love the classics, good wine and charming dinners outside the city. Recommend more experiences. Make the visit memorable by making it worthy of being talked about.

Staying at the The Grand Amsterdam is like visiting family. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with the smiling faces of the professional, knowledge staff. The security team is very aware of guests and the crowd just outside in the canal. Concierge will take care of every request, all you have to do is ask. The room we had, Maria Stuart - Canal House Suite, was exactly what we needed. We will definitely return!

It's rare that I take the time to leave a review, but I feel this hotel deserves it! Truly should be higher than 5 stars! I had my 5th stay at this hotel in December for a birthday trip. The staff always goes above and beyond. There were flowers and chocolates delivered to my room on my birthday from the hotel management. What a beautiful touch to make my day special! One of the many reasons I stay here is their ability to cater to my gluten allergy. They specially order in gluten free croissants and pastries ahead of time for our visit. The bedding is like sleeping on a cloud! So much, I went to their website and bought it for home. Having traveled the world and stayed in countless hotels, I've never been impressed enough to write a review. I'll be back in Feb with my daughters to celebrate their birthdays! Thank you to the staff for making this a wonderful experience time after time! KUDOS!!

We spent a week in the Grand taking part in the Artists in Residence program. The building has an intriguing history, it gives off splendid elegance yet we felt at home fast thanks to our amiable hosts who treated us with respect and urgency. A day of going around the city, or staying in working, you can round off in the spa and in the gym and finally, you lay your body onto a bed that resebles the expected feeling of clouds compressed into sheets. Whatever your reason of your stay is, the Grand and its staff will have your back.

A special Chef's 6 course dinner menu is a masterpiece! One of the best desserts I have ever tried - white chocolate, raspberries, yuzu citrus flavors- is one of the tastiest combinations ever made. If you agree, you're going to love it. The restaurant Bridges itself and the beautiful inner garden of The Grand - are one of those "never-want-to-leave" places. P.S Apart from an exclusive wine selection for a true wine lover 🍷, non-alcoholic wines for non-drinkers or those, who are on a detox mission, exist! 💫

All our thanks to the staff! Especially friendly and accommodating. The rooms are really nice and spacious. The food is tasty and high quality. Do try their restaurants! And really important: they really are pet friendly and treat your pet in the best way possible

The location is excellent, don't get me wrong, but as someone who travels a great deal and goes to 5-star hotels often, this place is a bit behind the times, and the service isn't as good at other places I frequent. During the check-in process, I decided to head to the bar to grab a quick drink before the bar closed, and the bartender rudely told me to sit down and wait, and he did this in front of other hotel guests. I didn't feel welcomed at this place and I will take my business elsewhere.

Awesome place! What a gem in the center. Cocktails were great, loved the pitchers. Packed a punch as well. The octopus was delicious too. Will be going back for sure.

Celebrated my 50th birthday while staying here. The attention to detail and personable service made me feel so very special even during an unprecedented time. Highly recommend butler service. First time experience. The spa removed 2 years of stress from my mind & body. Dining was unmatched by the finest restaurants in Amsterdam. I'm a raving fan of this hotel. Can't wait to return. It felt like a welcoming home.

I went in for a coffee in the lobby a few days ago. I wanted a beautiful and quiet spot - the coffee was great and the staff was very professional! I wanted to give a shoutout to Emma from the Front Desk, since it was quiet in the reception, she took the time to tell me about the hidtory of the hotel and made sure I had a very pleasant experience (even if I was not an in-house guest). Thank you for your kindness Emma!!

One of the best hotels I have ever been to, staff are attentive and cheerful, it is definitely recommended, the breakfast at the Bridges is a must, rooms are clean and well maintained, the building is historical and captivating! Thank you Sofitel Legend The Grand!

We had a wonderful stay. The property is very well located, but still quiet. The staff could not have been more friendly & accommodating. The room was very clean & the bed one of the best I've slept in. My husband & I were both celebrating birthdays a few days after our stay concluded, but at check the dates were noticed on our passports. We received a lovely birthday surprise to our room. That's above & beyond. That's exceptional hospitality. We would definitely stay here again & I will recommend you to all my Amsterdam travel clients.

Quintessentially Dutch hotel in the heart of the city. The building itself is part of the city’s history and the location can’t get better. Our luxury room has a wonderful canal view and a spacious bathroom. The mattress and pillows were in top quality. Hairdryer powerful and not too heavy to hold. I am not a huge fan of Hermes toiletry though. Breakfast was great. The buffet offered a wonderful selection of local and international flavors. The presentation was beautiful. The staff was very friendly. The front house was great, but Will at the breakfast was particularly outstanding. He was very genuine, and always there to help.

Stayed 4 nights in the hotel. Beautiful property that is well kept, clean, pleasant, and historical. Importantly, the staff was also amazing and attentive. Raul was great - checked us in warmly with a big smile and took care of us throughout the trip. Concierge team led by Niels was also very knowledgeable and helped book everything we needed. Cannot wait to come back.

Location is fairly situated in walking distance to many places. Our room was modern clean and so comfortable. We had been up for over 30 hours and for an insomniac, the bed was heaven. Slept for almost 12 hours. Best sleep I have had in many a night. Staff were all pleasant and helpful. All staff we interacted with all had a good sense of humor. Loved chatting with them. Wish I could have gotten the recipe for the herbal water. Excellent and refreshing. Hope to return for a longer stay.

We enjoyed every part of our stay! This hotel breathes history and is in a great location in the Amsterdam city center. The minute you step in, you'll switch the lively city vibe for a relaxed atmosphere, especially in the patio garden. The service is impeccable and personal and they offer a lot of amenities. The spa with swimming pool is great, just keep in mind to reserve a time slot (September 2021 Covid restrictions). I would definitely recommend to include breakfast which is hosted in the hotel's Bridges restaurant. Rooms are spacious and they offer several interconnecting rooms which is convenient for families. Depending on the location of your room you might hear some of the night life, but it was well within limits. We appreciated the little welcome gesture!

😐 It is a large, somewhat impersonal, completely unshaded and extremely noisy campsite (we were in the tented section).Noisy because there is a large multi-lane bridge nearby, which is still very busy at night.
