No way is this a 5-star hotel. Yes the lobby is fancy enough if you like big tacky lamps… but the mattresses are very uncomfortable old hard springs, sheets had holes and the pillows are cheap polyester fill that have no support. I had to sleep on top of the comforter and used my airplane neck pillow which was more comfortable than the ones they provided. Staff interrupted us multiple times in one day to try to get us to order room service even though we never requested it. This is a 3-star hotel that charges 5-star prices for superficial “glam”. Seriously, stay anywhere else. *** Update *** Someone from the hotel has reached out to me to make amends which was very appreciated. I am leaving my original review above intact for the sake of honesty and transparency but for fairness I am updating to 3 stars to reflect the effort of the hotel to make things right.

I am very surprised this is a 5 star hotel. The rooms were very average for what you pay, bathroom stunk like septic, street noise prevented us from sleeping. Furthermore the service was well and truly below average for what we expect as NH platinum members (completely inflexible with a booking error-I suppose this is understandable, but then I had to fight for a late checkout to which we are entitled as platinum). We chose this hotel out of others because it was 5 star, however it was truly disappointing and I would not recommend. I’ll happily say we will never stay here again.

Great stay. Hotel definitely feels upscale. Location can’t be beat - close to main attractions and close to central station. Night life wise it’s close to the red light (if you’re into that) bars were way too crowded and it’s winter…..we prefer tamer less ratchet nightlife which was further away but easily accessible by tram. Room- we booked premium room which was very spacious and SUPER COMFY BEDS with your several choice of pillow sizes. No issues with water or air con. We were across from busy bars (waved to patrons at times) and noise was pretty muted so good soundproofing. Amenities- free large bottled water Daily. Free mulled wine, candy, and hot cocoa in lobby. Beautiful lobby. Would highly recommend.

Overall good. Very good location, cleanliness and size of the room. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Buffet breakfast with few options, it can be improved. The best thing has been the reception service. Special thanks to Daniel, who helped us find and reserve gluten-free restaurants for my friend and me. He was very kind and friendly to us. However, in my opinion it's more a 4 than 5 star hotel.

Just returned from a four day stay at this hotel. I really cannot reconcile some of the reviews on here with our experience. The hotel was immaculately clean throughout. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We asked for a quiet room which was utterly silent and we had the best sleep. Breakfast was varied and fresh (just to dispel comments made in other reviews). Staff were helpful and cheerful. Special mention to the main man at breakfast (Ibrahim?) who helped my husband to organise a birthday surprise for me by keeping the goodies cold overnight and loaning him glasses and plates. What a star! Oh and the sweeties in reception were fab too! The hotel is ideally situated for the station and all sights. We travel a lot and definitely recommend this hotel. Thank you for a memorable stay.

I had a 4 day stay here and enjoyed it very much. The hotel is steps from everything in all directions. I requested a quiet room and was assigned room 108 which was on the 2nd floor. The window was facing an interior courtyard so no street noise. The bathroom was larger than I expected, I did not experience any sewage odor that was mentioned in other reviews. The bed was very comfortable and with the blackout curtains extend your sleep many hours. I rented bikes for a day, needed to return them by 10:00pm, €38 for 2 bikes, they rode well. Safety mention: In the dark, I missed the last step on the stairs a few times going back to the bed from the bathroom.

I had chance to visit Amsterdam in past few days. However, I cannot say much about recommending this hotel for anyone who wished to enjoy quiet scenery and beautiful landscape. Barbizon Hotel sits right across canal facing ongoing traffic of Central Station. As well as, sitting at the edge of busy pubs and bars. All sounds great until you decide to retire early to the night. The loud noise persist throughout the night, especially on the night of weekend. They did provided earplugs, however, one would thinks to upgrade for the noise blocking windows, but that is beside the point. The complimentary breakfast is great and full filing. Room service staff are great. Except for the fact that touching anything in the mini bar would cost you a pretty penny. I was famished one evening and decided to tackle a lovely chocolate bar in the mini fridge. And, the end result is extra two charge of chocolate bar. Although, I cannot proof my innocent, since it is the cleaning staff's job to refill and count the damage. I was charge for three chocolate bar worth of bill. While, it was only a small price. It put my reputation in jarpody in front of my family. The front desk did not help neither. They couldn't print out of recipe b/c of server malfunction. However, they can happily hand you a bill for extra 2 chocolate bar worth of bill. Yeah, yeah. Not gonna come again.

It’s a nice hotel in the center of the city, 3 mins walk from Amsterdam central station, so you can easily travel to neighboring cities or countries. Also, it is a huge plus that you can walk around, and all places are within walking distance from you. The hotel is modern and good-looking, the rooms are small, but it's everywhere in Europe. We had a room looking at the canals. I loved the bed! It was so comfortable to sleep and rest in it, especially after you walk every day 15-20 km. The bathroom was good, got in love with the hairdryer. Need to by for myself the same one, so good 👌🏼 The receptionist Maria was super cool, nice, friendly and polite, any questions you have, she solved all the problems immediately. Only one negative thing was during our staying ( we stayed for 6 days) - its room service. The cups were not clean, and it was no water ( bottles) in the room. And it was loud sometimes at night, right over the canal we looking at it was a bar. Overall, I am so happy and satisfied with the hotel

Excellent location next to the train station with nicely appointed rooms. The room sizes are similar to that in the US. The staff here is really helpful and courteous as well. My stay would’ve been five stars but I had an issue after checking in that required me to return to the front desk for a different room. Additionally there are some rooms with windows that faces other guest rooms and hotel walkways with little to no natural light. I had one of those rooms. I was outside for most part so I kept my curtains closed my entire stay.

We stayed at the Amsterdam Barbizon Palace in September. What a wonderful experience. From the check in process, the Concierge Personnel and the Bar. Our biggest shout out has to go to Ibraham. He handled the morning Restaurant and staff excellently even working beside his staff to make sure the guests were taken care of. We enjoyed seeing him each morning. If I would have one item that needed addressing it would be the Elevators. They either did not work or were very slow. But that did not stop us from enjoying a wonderful visit to Amsterdam. We will definitely stay here again.

Good value for money, would visit again. The staff was polite, mannered and happy to help. The concierge was happy to help with arranging the conference room/area for when I needed it at no extra charge, as I had an important call. The wifi is not great, consider tethering to your phone - YMMV

I had a lovely stay, Ludo the GM took care of me following a few issues on a previous stay. I was very happy with the service recovery. Also a special note for Marta (or Maria my apologies) the guest services agent/Receptionist who remembered me from my previous stay, its always a good sign of high level customer service.

We were able to check-in earlier but the level 1 room that we were assigned to reeked of cigarettes/smoke and we were unable to open the windows to air the room. Room was spacious and very clean but couldn't relax with the pungent smell. Decided to head out and explore the area for about 2-3 hours. The cigarette smell was still lingering when we came back. Grateful for the staff who helped us and changed our room to level 4. Thankfully, the new room had a fresh linen smell and a nice view of the streets and buildings. Room was quiet and location of the hotel is conveniently located opposite the main station. Shampoo dispenser was faulty and I requested for it via the given QR code but no replacement was made. Overall, hotel looks presentable but lacking attention in the small details.

Great location, clean, and free candy and water in the lobby was a nice treat. Room was comfortable but not as advertised. You will not get the beautiful exposed beam room in all the pictures.

Very nice front desk. We were able to check in early to our superior room. The lobby had refreshments like mulled wine and water, coffee, and fruits. Breakfast was superb and staff were friendly and efficient. Rooms clean and generally a great stay!

I would not consider this a 5-star hotel, but a very good 4-star. The bed was pretty uncomfortable, and there was some very obvious wear on most of the furniture. That said, everything was clean and looked very nice. The service was excellent though management could pay a bit more attention to detail. For example, for three days the hand sanitizer in the hallway was empty and the complimentary hot chocolate was often empty. The location is great. For such a busy area, it felt always quite and calm.

This NH collection is the best hotel I have ever experienced in my entire life!! The staff are incredibly amazing, very friendly, professional, courteous and at your service. The overall experience is left you feeling fancy with a luxurious touch. Very comfortable beds. I am a pregnant women and I asked if they could heat my left over Indian food at 10pm and they were more than glad to heat it up for me. I loved the fact that they had fruits and candies available for anyone to grab with very nice breakfast buffet. I really love the staff working there and I loved the room I stayed in. There is a lovely gym (high end equipment ) and beautiful sauna/steam/lounge area. Free water bottles in the gym area. Very central location. Absolute wow! I strongly recommend this place 😊

Walk 4 minutes to the Train Station, 5 minutes to Red Light district, 3 minutes to canal tour. Beautiful hotel with great ambiance. My room was bi-level and had a great view of the canal, with 2 window's that opened for fresh air if needed.

Ideally located for the old town, it's canals and tourist attractions. The service was excellent and dinner in hotel brasserie Bottles and Jars was of a good standard in a pleasant, spotlessly clean environment.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the NH Collection Hotel, and I must say, it was one of the greatest hotel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I arrived, the helpfulness and professionalism of the front desk staff were immediately apparent, making check-in a breeze. Room service was prompt and courteous, further enhancing my stay. The hotel’s location is another highlight, perfectly situated at the heart of the city, making it an ideal base for exploring the surrounding area. But what truly sets the NH Collection Hotel apart is the warmth and hospitality they extend to all their guests. Right from the first impression in the lobby, I felt incredibly welcomed. The hotel goes above and beyond by offering complimentary drinks and snacks throughout the day, a gesture that didn’t go unnoticed. The NH Collection Hotel truly understands the essence of hospitality, making each guest feel special and well-cared for. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a memorable stay in the city

Lovely hotel in a great location right across the road from Centraal station. Close to all of the local sites. We had a decent sized room on the 1st floor overlooking the canal to the rear of the property. Room was clean and functional with good working A/C - needed in the warm weather! Didn't eat or drink in the hotel, but looked good though. Would definitely be staying here again.

Centrally located right across from the main train station and a few minutes walk the heart of Amsterdam. Rooms are decent sized, and some are very unique due to the architecture joining adjacent buildings. I'm bummed that they removed the piano. It was always a nice way to start the evening. Thanks a lot Covid!

Overall nice hotel. Lobby has a nice look, rooms were clean and beds were clean and comfortable. Front desk was very nice and helpful and allowed us to check-in around 9am, which was very much appreciated! Good location. We had breakfast included one night, but we were pretty disappointed with the offerings considering the price. I'd def go elsewhere for breakfast. But great otherwise!

Brilliant location right in the centre of the city , gorgeous rooms and excellent service. I ended up hurting my ankle while staying here and the staff were so helpful from organising a taxi to the hospital, Ice packs and a wheelchair, I even received a call from the concierge when I returned from the hospital asking how I was. The next morning I also had several members of staff come to see how I was doing! They go above and beyond to help their guests and I couldn’t recommend it enough. Thank you!!

This hotel is beautiful. The staff was super accommodating. The room was pretty but very small (as an American with family of 4). The location is ideal to walk out and shop and eat. It goes on forever with choices. We chose this location for ease of access to the cruise ship port nearby. The city is gorgeous. One of my new favorites.

IMO this has to be one of the finest hotels in Amsterdam. Fabulous location - just across the street from Central Station. Warm welcome at reception. We had a junior suite and it was great - lots of room. Breakfast was superb. Exceptionally clean and such friendly staff

Great location to the Central train station and many restaurants and shops. Lovely room with a nice walk-in shower. Although not a problem for us, there were stairs from the bathroom to the main room. We were along the canal with restaurants and it was a little noisy on Friday and Saturday nights. These aren't complaints, I'm simply mentioning so you can inquire about the room details when booking. Breakfast buffet was very good.

Good location and great views. Unfortunately, and even after waiting a little extra time for our room, it was not clean. There was lots of dust on shelves and around the bed, and hair on the bathroom floor. The sheets were damaged and the soap was refilled. It was fixed after we called the front desk but we definitely expected more value for the price.

Only bump is they did not clean our room after the first night. No idea why. Plus the shower body wash gel bottle remained empty our whole stay. When we finally had them clean it no refill on the shower body gel or... No refill on the coffee pods in the room. Even though everyone else is stellar this was disappointing. The people at the desk, concierge, bellhop, etc are all excellent. The location is great, I feel very safe and well treated, plus the beds comfortable. The kids loved it too. I overall recommend this hotel and I am sure after this review they will correct this minor hiccup.

A perfectly located hotel which delivered. This is a few minutes walk away from the railway station and main attractions. The breakfast was tasty and staff friendly. The only feedback is they need to work on cleanliness of rooms between guests.

We had a great stay at the hotel . The location is excellent and the staff were fantastic & helpful. the room size was good enough. I liked the online application room service and other services system . However , there is great opportunity for improvement in house keeping management as they miss frequently cleaning on time and adding aminities . In addition , i would suggest to increase the varieties in the room service food menu . Thank you every one for contributing to a happy holiday for my self and my family

This hotel is located at the heart of Amsterdam Central which is amazing for those who wish to get around by foot / cycling. Rooms were spacious with good balcony to soak in the summer vibes of the terraces. Housekeeping was disappointing. Despite a reminder to clean up the floors and wipe down dust from furniture, there was a lack of quality overall on cleanliness.

I stayed at Barbizon Palace for one night on a Friday. We had some lovely cocktails in Bottles & Jars, followed by a 3-course meal. The personnel was very hospitable and accommodating to our wishes. Our room on the 5th floor overlooked the central station with a lovely view at nighttime. Very comfortable and large beds delivered a wonderful sleep. A large continental buffet at breakfast the following morning rounded of a lovely stay! Special mention to Ibrahim, Lucia, Eva and Edda for making this a memorable stay.
