The breakfast was fine, good food but too unorganized. The staff is friendly but clearly have a problem with getting things done. On our first day we were missing towels, I went to the reception to ask for them but we sadly didn’t get any even though it was promised to me, that they’d be delivered. Somehow we managed to use one small towel with three people in the hope to get big towels on the next day. To our disappointment we didn’t. I again had to ask for them. Besides that is the room service done poorly. No vacuuming the floor or cleaning the sink properly. The size of our room was enough to sleep but not big enough to spend much time in. And to our shock the one chair in the room was broken when we arrived and my mother nearly fell off and would have hurt herself… Now for the restaurant where you can eat dinner at night. The prizes for the portions are to laugh at. Way to expensive food and not a lot on the plate- and to top it off- the food was not even warm. The hotel on its own is really pretty, newly decorated and clean but that was about the only positive thing. I can sadly not recommend this hotel :(

The staff was very nice, the cleanliness of the 5 star hotel, the breakfast varied and fantastic for everyone's taste! From the location of the hotel, you can quickly get everywhere by train. I am very calm, I would make noise again next time! 👍👍👍👍👍

-Impossible to reach reception or room service via phone. (I tried reaching them, 7 times each) -You can’t open windows, no fresh air inside the room. -We got connected room, and when we asked for a room change, what we were offered was a downgrade in room. -In our room, the sound of elevator was easily being heard during the whole day, so disturbing. +Beds are comfortable. Definitely not staying here next time. I would not recommend.

parking is charged 23€ a day, room not cleaned daily as they are “environmentally friendly” yet the lights are not on sensors… we booked a double bed ended up with two singles… after fighting for half hour had to move… muddled up our rooms on the system and ended up getting a knock on our door at 23:30… seriously who does that? just a shocking experience overall. also breakfast is €23 and not a great variety… also not very good quality food… impossible to get through to someone on the phone for room service… honestly shocking! Have no idea how this is a 4*

Excellent Hotel - I felt welcomed from the first minute. The staff is very supportive and even small asks are answered and solved quickly. The hotel is well located and easy to reach by car or public transport. You can reach the city center within 15-20 min by public transport (metro station is right in front of the hotel). The hotel has very good parking locations (multi-storey car park - good illumination and a lot of space for your car) incl. Charging stations for electronic cars. Great hotel - looking forward to coming back.

Outstanding Hotel in a very quiet area in Amsterdam. Trains and metros are very well connected. It is one of the best locations for a 4-star hotel without any busy and noisy hassles. The hotel by itself is simply superb. Rooms are excellent, and facilities are fantastic. We used sauna, gym, cycle, etc. Everything is perfect there. Special mention on the Manager and the management. When we had some issues, they could immediately stepped in and resolved the issues. Thanks to Martin Ram! Another best part of the stay is the breakfast. The quality and the variety are simply the best! I haven't seen such a fabulous breakfast. The breakfast hall and its design itself look like a Royal Palace! Overall the best stay

Really nice hotel. It looks very elegant. The stuff was really nice and kind. They helped us a lot. I just didn't liked the Toilet door. But over all it was a nice experience. The view was awesome at the 13th floor. And the metro stop was just 2 min. By walk. Thank you.

The hotel was very clean and pleasant. The view from our 9th floor apartment was also very good; it was overlooking a canal. The staff was very cordial. Location wise, the hotel is a 10 minute journey via M51 metro train from Amsterdam Central. It is a direct route, and the hotel is less than 50 meters from the metro railway station. We had breakfast also from hotel, which was good. As a downside, I felt that the hotel is a bit overpriced. We travelled as a family and overall we loved the place.

A very convenient location with the station a few minutes walk away, with access to the central city in less than an half an hour. Everything was clean and the interior was beautiful. I have to say that it was one of the most comfiest beds I’ve been in and slept like a log. I was however shocked that the sliding door to the bathroom did not lock, so in a shared room situation it was a bit funny. The breakfast I think was quite pricey and would honestly give it a 6/10, since comparing its full English breakfast to the taste over in the UK, it was quite underwhelming. The staff was lovely. Very friendly and welcoming. Shoutout to the staff member with the moustache and green suit who gave us recommendations of places to go. Massive thank you to him.

This is a very pleasant hotel and the staff are very well mannered. I have stayed in other hotels before in Netherlands but they CANNOT hold the candle to this hotel. Well done to all the staff. There was one exception to the very friendly or helpful staff at the restaurant. We did not made a reservation and was not treated friendly at all by the dinner service attendant. We felt so uncomfortable and left.

While I didn’t stay at this hotel, I can tell from the common area that it’s a popular and well-maintained establishment in the Netherlands. My colleagues and I enjoyed drinks here on Friday and were impressed with the ambiance and the friendly staff. The Indian samosas were tasty, though not as good as those made in India. They’re one of the best Dutch-made samosas I’ve tried. I would recommend that the hotel add a bit more salt to their fries. They were a bit bland on their own.

Although the rooms are considered small -related to my experience and taste, the staff made the difference. Polite, positive! All over the hotel.Reception, servicing in the breakfast room and of course cleaning crew! The breakfast was very good and with a big variety to the offered items. The location ideal! Thank you!

My hotel room was on the 18th floor. The view through the huge window was incredible, especially at night! The hotel itself is right next to the metro station, so the city centre is very easy and quick to reach. The hotel room made a clean impression at first, but on closer inspection, stains were noticeable. Stains on towels, on the carpet and also on the bed linen!

First of all, all hotel guests get guided to the hotel‘s parking garage. There is no sign or anything, that lets you know the price, which is 6€/hr or 23€ for 1 night. You drive in there expecting nothing bad. In an area where parking alternatives are completely missing outside of this garage, you can call this a scam. Our deluxe room had a dirty shower and the glasses inside the room were dirty so we did not feel very comfortable at all and avoided to shower there. Now something that is not meant as a critique directly towards the hotel but towards the guests there. At breakfast some adult guest stole food from our plates and ran away. Added to that, the elevators smelled horrible, maybe the other guests had to consider the same showering strategy as we had to. All in all, the whole stay was not what we expected and even for the relatively low price compared to hotels in the center of Amsterdam, its something we would not recommend and avoid the next time. But there were also great experiences in the hotel. The m&m sweets you could buy at the reception expired just in time when we left the hotel, so nothing to critique there.

Excellent Hotel. Room was spacious and well equipped. Location is nice, out side the city. We have conference there, conference space is really nice and spacious. Staff was really polite and helpful. Food was awesome and chef was kind to help us to prepare some special food also.

Wonderful place to stay for a reasonable price comparing with central Amsterdam. It's relatively a new hotel with clean rooms next to a subway station, 15 minutes ride to central station. Better to stay here and commute then to stay in an old hotel in downtown. The only problem is that there is no restaurants or grocery stores nearby. You have similar options in the area and even better options in south station.

The location is so close to the metro and a few stops to Amsterdam central. The staff especially Daniel at the front desk made our stay enjoyable and provided so many helpful insights on how to maneuver around Amsterdam. The rooms were decently sized for European standards.

Everything was amazing! The rooms were really nice, and the service was phenomenal. Everyone was so nice and you can tell really cared about the people staying there. Plus the location is right outside a train station, so it’s easy to get to where you want to go. Even though I only stayed for two nights, I can tell this was a really nice and thought out hotel. I will definitely be coming back one day!

Amazing experience! Would like to specially thank Martin (front desk) for been incredibly friendly and nice, giving us an incredible time at the hotel. By the way, nice mustache ☺️ Great room, location and breakfast. Would certainly come back!

Beautiful & Relaxing! We stayed 2 nights here and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are very clean and the amenities are nice. The only complaints I have was the shower in our room and the elevators. The water would not drain because the drain was too high up compared to the rest of the flooring. And not to mention, you’re literally standing on the drain while you shower since it’s in the middle of the shower floor. Poor planning on that one. And the other part was that the shower would overflow and soak the bathroom floor since it’s not draining properly. There are only 4 elevators in the hotel and we were on the top floor (18th). The elevator took 5 minutes just to get us to go down. A little frustrating when you have a dog that needs to go outside! The hotel doesn’t have a pool, but they do have a gym and sauna! We didn’t try breakfast, but we did have drinks both nights we stayed. The hotel lobby is beautifully decorated and has great service at the bar. The drinks were a little pricey, but delicious!!! It’s a comfortable setting for drinks! The hotel is in a great location— a few steps away from the train station!!! They are pet friendly as well 🐶

We visited our Son/Step Son who lives in Amsterdam and booked the Leonardo Royal with the Easyjet package. The Hotel is really nice, when you walk in it looks really quite Grand. We were greeted with smiles and little jokes. Everything explained no guessing for anything. We were on the 13th floor, the lifts are big, clean and very quick. The room was really nice, spacious, clean and light with a lovely bathroom and walk in shower and great views In a quiet area by the canal and the tram just across the road - 10 mns to the city. The Staff is Super Friendly and helpful everyone of them. We absolutely loved it and will definitely book it again every time. Highly recommend it. Thank you All at Leonardo Royal for making our stay so pleasant and comfortable and see you again soon.

Really lovely hotel, looks modern and stylish. Comfortable rooms and plenty of choices for breakfast. Reception team is very friendly and makes everything go smooth. We liked the location as well with very easy access to the city centre.

Great hotel no issue with the hotel staff. Very professional. Metro that takes you to amsterdam center after 5 stops it just outside the hotel cost us about €4 there and back using normal travel card. Only issues we had were that with the rooms the door that separated the room to the bathroom is just a sliding frosted glass door. So you can hear everything in the bathroom. Also the hotel provides a mandatory 4 day cleaning of your sheets if your here for a long stay. We hung the sign outside out door to show we would like a room clean before 10 am (like the sign specified to have your room cleaned).my friend had slight food poisoning(not from the hotel another restaurant) so we were running low on toiletries. When the cleaning staff were 2 doors down from us with the clean bedding around midday we were expecting to be next however we were completely missed out. it wasn't till after we told the front desk that we've been waiting all day for our room to be cleaned. And my friends condition. We had a male cleaner come in only to change the towels, empty bins and hoover. We asked about the sheets he replied with "it's not my jobs it's another cleaners if you want I can bring you sheets and you can make your bed yourselves" we declined as at this point as we are not on holiday to change our own bedsheets.! Before the man left we also asked for some more toilet paper the cleaner then put some toilet rolls (still in their packaging) on the table and left... We wernt best pleased with this. We were nothing but nice to him apologising that we were in the room before he was about to clean. However this one instance diddnt ruin our experience we still would come back to this hotel!

The hotel is great! Very comfortable rooms, friendly staff and the elevators are extremely efficient. There is a metro station across the street from the Hotel which allows for quick transport pretty much anywhere in the city. The area is quiet but also feels pretty abandoned.

Customer service is impeccable! Helpful, professional and friendly staff all around. The rooms are nice and fairly priced. The bed was big and very comfortable and the room came with a nice view. My partner and i will definitely be coming back to Leonardo Royal Hotel next time we visit Amsterdam.

Absolutely blown away by the stunning location, the cleanliness and overall feel of the hotel itself, but most importantly, we were looked after really well by the staff! I want to give a shout-out to Tina for helping us check in and helping me and my friend upgrade our room to better suit our needs, as well as being super friendly and welcoming! Having never been to Amsterdam before, I fell in love with the city and the hotel experience at Leonardo Royal made my vacation even more worthwhile. I will certainly consider anyone visiting to book with Leonardo Royal, the nearest metro station is literally in front of the hotel so you can head to the centre of Amsterdam in good time. Bedankt!

Staying here this week, had a few issues as the room was way too hot and you cannot open the windows, the hotel manager was great, helping as good as he could with moving my room to one that they had chilled all day for me and supplying 2 large bottles of cold water for free along with a couple of free drinks at the bar. Great service. The hotel staff, from reception to bar staff to the restaurant were really nice and friendly, the bar is nice and open late, 1am I think, and the food we had last night was exceptional. Have the duck starter, it was amazing! Was recommended a great bottle of red too, so had 2! Wasnt a great start staying here, but all rectified in the end. Looking forward to hitting the bar again tonight. Edit: back to my room today, air con off, room as hot as it was when I first arrived. Not great really.

Currently staying at the hotel for three nights, the bar and restaurant is lovely and the service has been in parts brilliant, If you are thinking of staying here just be aware that the rooms are very hot, there is not bottled water and no tea making facilities. All ok if you drink coffee tho as there is a coffee machine with coffee capsules.

I went with family and had a great experience here. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Lovely clean room, the gym and sauna were a bonus too. I had a nice view from my room and ubers were less than 10mins into the centre. The only criticism I can think of is that the coffee machine in my room could have done with a deep clean, but they do serve all types of drinks in the hotel bar. Would definitely visit again.

Great experience from check in to check out. Staff at the front desk could not have been nicer. Upon arrival, I was informed that my room had been upgraded! Lovely surprise. The room was absolutely spotless and super cosy. Bed was very comfortable. Excellent shower. Great coffee machine & coffee capsules in the room to enjoy whilst admiring the view from the room. Location was spot on. Metro is literally across the road from the hotel with only a 10 minute ride to central station. Thank you Leonardo Royal Hotel Amsterdam. I will definitely be back.

We have loved this otel which is 6 stops from central. The receptionists are very kind. When they saw we are couple with baby, a lady came up with a cute toy. We would like to thank , especially to receptionist and housekeeping employees ☺️

Nice location, metro station is 2 minutes walk. Very modern, Clean, window view is super. You can see airplanes start to land to airport from the hotel. Breakfast is versatile and delicious. Friendly helpful staff. One downside is you can't use cash to buy something from the hotel and no nearby grocery store. But in general we stayed 5 memorable days.

Only was here for a meeting. The person we met hired an hotelroom to use as an office. The hotel looks very new. Drunk a coffee in the lobby, tasted good. The only disavantage is that the staff at the frontoffice did not speak Dutch.

This hotel is a little too far from the city center, but it is only across the street from a metro station. We enjoyed the stay there as it’s not too expensive and we still get the 4-star hotel quality. We would have given 1 less star in the review due to cleanliness. When we arrived in our room, the sink & toilet weren’t cleaned properly from the mess that previous guests made. However the staff at the reception (Pim) was very nice and friendly that they deserved a full 5 star review. He gave us some insights on where to visit, especially the hip places that only locals know about. And also he upgraded our room to one of the top floors with full height window.

Luxurious, nice and clean hotel. Very kind staff. But if you are a light sleeper, I do not recommend getting a room on the side of the metro station.

Room was small but clean and had all the facilities. The bed was okay but the pillows were quite soft for me. The breakfast had a good variety and the staff was very friendly and helpful. All in all a very nice hotel in Amsterdam.

We had a good time. The staff was super friendly (our first room was not clean but they changed it immediately). Breakfast was abundant both in sweet and salty choice. The metro line is just in front. At night, the night bus stops also very close

The hotel location is convenient, and the breakfast is good. However, we had a rough finish at the end of reservation. My jacket was lost in the hotel, and neither the hotel personnel nor the deputy manager couldn’t locate it. We were told that they would check the hotel. When we were waiting for their search, we almost lost our flight. On the bright side, my jacket was found in the “second lost and found” room -we were told that the hotel was checked?- after we departed. If only we were told that they were more rooms that they had to check (and we’d be less stressed). Thanks to Andrea for following up the case, and sending my belongings. With the right communication, the hotel may deserve even higher rating.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The room was magnificent, great breakfast buffet, staff servicial and polite. I also recommend the restaurant and the bar. Although it is placed in the outskirts, it doesn't signifies a problem because the metro station is next to the hotel and you can get to the city center in 15 minutes. The zone is very quiet and you can rest at night without any noise.

Amazing location, friendly staff and fantastic breakfast buffet. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Deluxe queen room was amazing with a great view. Metro is 2 min walk away.

  • 5/5 Julia B. 1 year ago on Google
Very impressed by all aspects of the hotel. Was nervous when booking because it's more affordable and away from the city center, but it was perfect. The metro is steps away, the rooms are nice, and for the price it beats anything in the city. Would definitely stay again!

  • 5/5 Anne C. 10 months ago on Google
Although the Leonardo Royal is out of Amsterdam the Metro is right on your doorstep and it only takes 15 minutes to get to the centre, use the App 9292 which allows you to plan your route using Metros, Trams and Buses, we bought a 4 day travel ticket which was perfect. The hotel itself is so lovely, the staff are very attentive and friendly and really helpful. The Breakfast Buffet is second to none and most delicious. As our stay was during a hot weekend I found the only thing the Hotel lacked was some out door seating, (promotional videos on a screen in the dining area showed a roof top being used, if this did exist at The Leonardo Royal then we did not see and signs indicating this, or it may have been from another Leonardo Hotel) we would definitely stay again and recommend to our friends.

Our shower drain was slow draining, with a 2-3 minute shower (even at reduced strength) causing the bathroom to flood. Our first complaint about this on the first evening got reception to assure us that someone could take care of it the following day. Fair enough, since it was late in the evening when I made the report about the shower. The following morning, I inquired at reception about whether someone would fix the drain problem in our room, only to be told that the hotel was aware of the problem, but that it is a hotel-wide issue and the only remedy they could offer was to give us plenty of towels to soak up the water that spills outside the shower stall. Third morning, I was chatting with a third receptionist about this while retrieving our third or fourth batch of towels, when he revealed that only certain rooms have some issue with the drain pipes. Other rooms may have slow drains because of clogs from previous guests' hair. He offered to move us to another room, but since we were only hours away from checking-out, I declined. Instead, I asked if the hotel could compensate us by giving us a free breakfast (EUR 17,50 x 2 persons), but he counter-offered with a 50% discount on the breakfast. I thanked him, but declined since we never eat much for breakfast and therefore don't wish to give this hotel even more of our money without getting much in return. The request for the free breakfast was to get the hotel to acknowledge that it had served us poorly...I thought that it would be just a symbolic cost for the hotel, but apparently margins must be tight even for this supposed 4-star hotel. I think I will steer clear of Leonardo hotels from now on.

I stayed here for two nights with friends. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Three of us stayed in one room. The room size was small and the third bed was a sofa combed. It wasn’t very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing with good variety. Not many shops around but has a metro station right opposite. I reached Amsterdam central in 20 minutes. Will be staying at this hotel again. The reception staff were also helpful. What I didn’t like was they didn’t even provide water bottles and tea making facilities despite charging so much for two nights. Everything was over priced. And the bar also refused to give us drinking water.

Everything was excellent. Wonderful breakfast. Metro station right next to the hotel. A few points for improvement: 1) place a teapot in a room or at least some teabags; 2) when I take a show, some water escapes to the bathroom floor underneath the shower door, cause there is a gap between the door and the floor 3) a glass door separating the main room and the bathroom is not a convinient design: there is very poor sound isolation because of it. 4) to have a smart TV in the rooms

My aunt had to move out of her house for one night and was very happy to stay in a room that fitted her needs. Alarm, extra support at the toilet, etc etc. She enjoyed your good care, and was delighted with the breakfast facilities! Thanks again.

Unfortunately, not everyone went quite as expected. We stayed for 3 nights and the room was not cleaned once. The room was also really small. I recommend that you remove the armchair and dressing table from there so that there can walk better. The mattresses on the beds were poor. They were lumpy and worn out. On the other hand, the breakfast was very tasty and the subway was very close by.

Hotel was super for our stay. So convenient across the road from metro amd 10 mins from centre of town Modern comfortable hotel with nice bar. Didn't have food there so cannot comment but restaurant looked really nice. Room was spacious clean and very comfortable with decent TV and coffee machine. Would certainly stay again.

The overall experience was not satisfactory. It is wonderful the hotel is eco-friendly but that doesn't mean the lack of cleaning they had. The room needed more cleaning, I found hair close to the hairdryer, one pair of towels was dirty. I informed the staff and they gave me another pair automatically. They didn't have any soap, shampoo and shower gel in the room. Breakfast is very very simple for a 4 star hotel: juices are not natural and it is hard to find a clean table. The hotel was crowded and obviously they need more staff to sort it out (SAP conference and another one at the same time). To finish my bad experience, I was charged with a bar consumption I didn't take, incredible yet true! I have to admit the reception service was exceptional, willing to help all the time, 10 out of 10 for them. I can't remember the name of one of the staff, Spanish speaking one. The views are beautiful!

We had a lovely time at the hotel. We stayed four nights while visiting the city. Rooms offered coffee facilities. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast choice was amazing and staff were very helpful throughout. Would definitely stay here again.

We got the nicest view from our room and the hotel is not far from the city center. Room is spacious enough for two people just a minor point though my bed has traces of potato chip crumbs when we got in after checking in. Metro is just a walking distance from the hotel (top location). We never got the chance to explore the hotel and it's facilities for we got only 3 days to discover the city and there are a lot of places to visit and discover in Amsterdam. Staffs are friendly and very accommodating. I will definitely comeback to Leonardo and recommend it to my friends and family.

This hotel is slightly out of town and has suffered from Covid. The restaurant used to have a good menu selection, no longer. Service is a shadow of our previous visit. For example, the A/C in our room didn't work, but because there were no maintenance folk (except in the morning) all they could do was give us a different room. Access to the Metro is excellent, so getting downtown is easy.
