The place is very nice for a few days stay with student friends. The rooms are comfortable, the welcome is warm, the atmosphere at the bar is friendly. The only drawback is that the price is really high for a night in a dormitory with a shared bathroom and toilets.

This is definitely a hostel geared to younger people. Really great community feel, especially with the social events they host in their bar area. One of the nights I even cooked for 12 people and it was such a lovely way to spend the evening! The breakfast is quite basic but healthy. They have designated smoking areas which is great for those who like that (and justified considering it’s Amsterdam after all), but it definitely draws that crowd & smell into other areas of the hostel. Everything is very clean and the reception staff are exceptional. I had friends return home early and the staff were very accommodating, both to them ending their trip early and helping me move into a room that I felt more comfortable in during late hours. I tried 3 rooms during my stay and all were quite different, it will be a hit or miss with air conditioning, quietness, etc. It was in a fantastic area, very safe on the outskirts of the main city hustle. Easily accessible by public transit. Note that there are no elevators and steep stairs (and you have to go downstairs to reach reception). Overall exactly what I would expect from a hostel and I was very satisfied with my stay!

For the price decent but also a fair few flaws. Such as, the toilet and shower in the room was broken which limited most of the people on the floor to one toilet which wasn’t fun. However the beds are incredibly comfortable, very good sleep. The people at the desk were nice and quite helpful. The kitchen is pretty small so if you’re staying long term maybe consider that. The bar was super busy when we went, good way to meet people and they have a happy hour deal that includes pizza which was pretty good.

check in was simple, staff all very friendly and helpful. 24 hour reception is nice to have. room size was good, but no privacy curtains and the gap between the mattress and frame for the top bunk was rather large, things might be able to fall down to the persons bed below. Scary! beds also squeaked a lot. everything was very clean, linen was clean bathrooms also clean, rooms were clean. lockers to keep stuff in were good. good price too for amsterdam.

I could never be thankful enough for my time at the Pig, I worked and lived there for almost 3 months, I have never had so much fun in my life, the staff is truly the most amazing people you’ll meet, it’s easy to make friends, the rooms, showers and bathrooms are very well cleaned and the hostel is very well managed! Location is excellent, near a lot of museums, supermarkets, Vondelpark, amazing cafes and restaurants. No matter how long you’re planning to stay for, you’ll have an amazing time! Cheers guys ❤️

Great hostel - the staff were awesome and helped to answer all of my questions. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was just what I needed after a big night in the city. Location is perfect, right near the Vondelpark and trams and bus stops are right around the corner and can easily take you straight into the heart of the city or out towards the airport. Keep up the good work guys! I'll be back again for sure!

Just had an awesome stay at the Flying Pig, if you're looking to have a fun time in Amsterdam I couldn't recommend it more. The staff are really great, keen to help with anything you ask with a smile no matter what the request may be. They're all really great people who clearly want everyone there to have the best time. Going out and partying with a big group of staff and guests was a highlight and a really great time. Special mention to Shannon for being really helpful, recommending fun things to do, places to see and being a good person to have a beer with. The room was good, comfy bunk bed with clean sheets and towels for hire. There were lockers under the beds for safe storage with plenty of space plus other lockers available if needed. I was in a surprisingly spacious 4 bed dorm with an ensuite that was clean and well maintained. The bar was great, excellent atmosphere, open until late and there were always people about so it was a great place to meet new people. Great deals on drinks and food, especially during happy hours and again the staff were really great. Good spread for breakfast in the morning, when I go back I'll be booking through their website to get that included. If you're planning on having a good time in Amsterdam, here's the place to stay

This is the first hostel we've stayed in and we were nervous about it the whole way to Amsterdam. However, we were welcomed promptly and had the house rules explained thoroughly. We stayed in a 12-bed mixed dorm. The room was clean and smelled pleasant. The beds were also clean and comfy. There are a lot of steep stairs to be aware of, both down to reception and up to the rooms. We felt the showers lacked an area to get changed / leave towels without getting wet, and the toilets were small. Most people seemed comfortable changing in the dorms but we were hoping for somewhere private to get ready. That said, if you're willing to live a little more openly then you'll have no issues with this. The hostel serves food and drinks until late and includes a free breakfast if you book direct with them. And yes, there is a 420-friendly smoking area with a pool table! We'll be back again, and soon.

By all means a good hostel. Not too loud at night, still close to the city, great staff and amenities, and good beds. Just pricey is all (after everything ~70$ per night)

Awesome place to stay! I loved staying here because the vibe of community here! Everyone who works here is so kind, welcoming and chill. Special thanks to Aaron who was bartending while we visited! The bar and smoking area are such a fun atmosphere where you can connect with everyone who is staying at the hostel. The location is great because it’s near transit, central to lots of attractions, yet in a quiet area. The room itself was average size for a hostel room. The one improvement I would suggest is quality/cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers — a small detail when everything else is so great. Thanks so much to everyone who made our experience here awesome! We will visit again soon.

I stayed here for 3 nights and liked everything.. Smily staff, super helpful tho I had really annoying questions. I will miss my early morning coffee at the bar, thank you Mario ^-^ The location was perfect not that too close to the busy areas but not far from city center... liked the theme of the hostel 😁 I will miss the vibes 🥺

Good place, location was nice being central Amsterdam. The employees are nice! Had a hard time with ordering food there 😅 had to remind them about my food a few times (in their defense it was a busy Saturday night) the kitchen is very very small and hard to cook if there’s more than 2 people in there. Might be better to just grab food that doesn’t require the stove. But the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were super clean!!! Loved all the flying pigs!

Upsides: *Friendly staff *Location is not bad *Bathrooms were clean, and hot shower available. Downsides: *A massive amount of stairs to get to the 4th floor (no lift). If you got a heavy luggage, it will be a nightmare. *My magnetic card to open the door stopped working three times in just one day. I had to go up and down to recheck this. Terrible! *Bunks don’t have curtains, so no privacy at all in a shared room.

A really cool hostel next to Vondelpark and Museumplein in Amsterdam! They've got a good range of rooms (private rooms, 4-14 bed dorms), cool staff, all day drink specials, storage lockers and a inviting relaxed vibe. The smoking room is a welcomed bonus as well 😉 Would 100% recommend staying here for up to 7 days when in Amsterdam.

I stayed at this location from 4 December to 7th December. I chose this location specifically because I had tickets to a show at a concert venue nearby. The hostel is a very good location right next to the museums and two concert venues, and about a fifteen minute tram ride from Centraal Station, and is very well connected to the trams by taking a five minute walk. The hostel is a perfect mix of both worlds: if I wanted to partake in the party venue downstairs, I was able to, however, it wasn’t something to the point you couldn’t escape. The smoking room and the party were super well contained. Everyone was super friendly downstairs, and when I was done, I went to my room just above the bar, and could not hear the party. I did not see this before I booked, but the hostel is traditional Amsterdam architecture, with the rooms all down a flight of stairs and then back up. If you are looking for accessibility, this is not the hostel for you. Again, everyone was super friendly, and offered help with my bags, but if you struggle with stairs, it might not be the place for you. I had one small criticism of the hostel that does not change my review, but that was the lack of hooks in the shower. I did not use other showers beyond the one on the first floor of rooms, however, there was no hooks in the shower, just a stool. I managed to work around it by using the door handle as a hook, however, I found myself wishing for a proper hook I could use to hang my towels. Overall, it was a great hostel for my purposes, which was something close to the concert venue and the tram lines, and I look forward to staying here again next time I return to Amsterdam

Stayed here for 3 nights for my first solo trip abroad. Was an amazing place to stay, all the staff & guests are incredibly friendly and welcoming, you will make friends in no time. The bar & smoking lounge get very busy every evening even during the week so you will always have something to do. It was lovely and clean everywhere, the rooms were exactly what you would expect from a hostel but the beds were comfortable. 100% recommend booking The Flying Pig Uptown & make sure you book direct! Sad to be checking out tomorrow!

It's always nice to come back! A place where you can feel at home and sleep like a baby, but also party like there's no tomorrow. Definitely THE place to stay if you visit Amsterdam. Big thanks to the staff for all the kindness and help =) and a big shout-out to Alex, mate, you rock!

Positive : There was a good point that they provide double beds so as a couple its a plus. The location is good . Multiple WC on each floor and it was clean . Had a locker for personal belongings. Negative : Doors slam while closing doesn’t matter how careful you are while closing them. I felt there is no air circulation at night which was really annoying. There are typical Dutch stairs and no elevator available

I was there traveling with my friends and we had a great experience in the Christmas time, we got a warm welcome from Aavon and Gianni at the reception desk they gave us all the information about the hostel and some information about the area. Alexander also make our time in bar memorable. Definitely recommend staying there.

Booked a doubles bunk bed for 3 nights in a 12 bed room. Overall a good value hostel compared to others in Amsterdam. Good location right near vondelpark and only a 25 min walk to the station. Staff were friendly, definitely a party hostel. Bed was comfy and clean. Main issue was that the air conditioning was broken, with no opening windows and only one small fan, so the room was unbearably hot. By our final morning there was definitely a smell. Also being on the top bunk meant we had different lockers. They were just big enough but were right in front of the door so were awkward to get to. My locker broke. The people on reception were nice and offered me a paid for locker overnight for free as it wouldn’t be fixed until the next day. It was fixed however quickly broke again. Showers were good but would have been nice to have a divide between the actual shower and the rest of the space as water would get everywhere. Overall an okay hostel. Would have been better without the breakages but these things happen!

Very nice place to stay, great location, clean, friendly staff, decent breakfast and a very cool smoking room. The place has its character and is definitely worth visiting. We never went to a hostel before but we loved the experience so much. Definitely 5 stars!

So many stairs they make jokes about it. Rooms do NOT have showers or bathrooms. The staff are all fantastic and the bar is lively. Good to visit, not to stay.

I had such a nice stay at the flying pig. The vibe is great, everyone in the hostel is super nice. The staff is amazing and always happy to help you out. It’s a great place for solo travelers since it’s so easy to connect with other people. The atmosphere in the entire hostel and especially at the bar is amazing. There are different events like solo traveler meetups, open mic and beer pong which are always fun. The location is ideal since it’s located directly next to Vondelpark, close to museums and also in walking distance to downtown. I’m looking forward to coming back and would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a hostel with a great vibe and amazing people!

Great people, great atmosphere and a great opportunity to know new people. Location is great, it's 5 min by walk to Vincent Van Gogh Museum. Toilets are too tiny but the showers are nice. And there are lots of stairs and no elevators. If you hate stairs, do not even think to come.

  • 1/5 Jillian H. 6 months ago on Google
Nice location and decent enough rooms, although a pretty big party hostel so it can get loud at night. The shared kitchen is tiny and despite properly labeling food people seem keen to throw it out anyways. When I went to the front desk to tell them that all the food I had bought to eat during my 5 day stay in Amsterdam was gone (despite being labeled with my name and checkout date) the girl at reception didn’t even care. Not sure if the location make up for the poor common spaces and rude staff, wouldn’t recommend staying here.

  • 3/5 R 10 months ago on Google
Location is fantastic. 15 min walk to the main things or close to the tram for central station. Hostel/Rooms: The hostel smelled a bit off, mix of alcohol, weed, and un-showered travelers. The toilets are too small, can't really have a bag with you inside. The showers are better but need shelves to put shower stuff. Things are clean in the morning but get gross quickly. The stairs are very narrow so it's not easy to get around with your bags or when there are a lot of people going up/down. The bed was comfy but the sheets were torn or had stains. The locker underneath doesn't seem very secure. Mine wouldn't open if there was someone sleeping in the bunk above it because the mattress blocked the locker haha... My outlet didn't work for one day for some reason. Vibe: Fantastic social vibe for a hostel though. Had great conversations in the smoking room and met some of the best people to hangout with during the trip. Overall: Not the cleanest hostel I've stayed at. Not sure I'll return since it wasn't very comfortable but I had a good time nonetheless.

  • 5/5 Kizen Y. 4 months ago on Google
Very good service. The staff has experiences and very flexible - for example for the checking in of my extension, thanks to Eren - they shifted the time so I can go for a jog before the cleaner comes in. Reasonable price too - 17 euro - one thing to note is if you use a third party you will still be charged for taxes at the counter - so will cost less if you book directly. Inside jokes typical of youth hostels aren't overdone and actually fun - I like the designs the paints don't smell bad. The kind of travellers were good to be around with to. No smoking in the room, there is a designated smoking room. Overall I would comfortably give 5 stars and nothing below.

The hotel is conveniently located near Vondelpark and museums, making it an ideal spot for visitors to explore the city. The hotel's lobby provides a great atmosphere for socializing, and the rooms are comfortable and cozy. If you're a young traveler, this hotel is definitely worth considering for your stay.

  • 4/5 Themetyr P. 1 year ago on Google
The absolute best hostel pillow! Very clean too. The staff were extremely throughout while cleaning, I was very impressed. What I didn’t like was paying near €100 and being asked for extra €1 for the key. Imagine paying $25 for a cocktail and the bartender asks you for extra $0.50 for the straw.

  • 4/5 Tiago O. 6 months ago on Google
As it says on the door it is a “backpackers’ hostel”. It is very cheap and the location is good specially for a day at the museums, but close to the center anyway. I believe I was unfortunate at the reception as I was received with sarcasm and no smile by the two girls on the reception desk, but the rest of the staff was very welcoming. Rooms were ok, with very good environment and respectful people in the room. THE STAIRS are the big highlight for me and I liked it, felt like in some type of fun house. Nails coming out of the stair’s hand rail on the second and third floor is the only unforgivable thing I found, even with the low price. I think it is a good place to stay for young people who want to save money (something hard in Amsterdam), join like minded people and even looking to party a bit; a great place for backpackers

  • 5/5 Elias 7 months ago on Google
Amazing hostel for travelers, very friendly staff, great service. Rooms are equipped with everything you need and a safe space to lock up your bags and valuable items. Just one remark, there are no sinks, only in the toilet, but it's not very convenient to brush your teeth while occupying a toilet. Overall, we had an amazing stay, everyone is very social and even though it's the Uptown hostel, the City Center is only a 10 minute walk away.

  • 5/5 Mayank K. 7 months ago on Google
I liked this hostel and had a good experience there. I stayed in a 6-bed dorm, which was clean and quiet. The location is also good, easily reachable by tram. You can buy breakfast and have drinks in the bar. They have paid locker system as well with 7 euros per day or hourly charges as well.

  • 3/5 Mir 2 years ago on Google
If you want just to crash it is an okish place to to it. Cleaning is not their strength. The heater in the room was not working. We were in a double private room on the last floor. Breath taking. Not the best option for people who are not fit. That description is not in the website which is super important. Toilets were dirty and even if you book a private room you will still have to share. Good location thou if you are interested in museums. Staff were friendly.

Too bad! The moment we arrived to our room we had no clean beds to sleep, because someone else had slept in our beds. We made a mistake to put our backpacks in the lockers for 4€ ,not knowing that every time we wanted to open them the machine was asking for 0,80€ (every time!) On the top of that, during the night (at around 4 in the morning) a drunk guy was knocking at the door, screaming, because he lost his key. We couldn't sleep! Finally we decided to leave one day earlier! In my opinion, the atmosphere in the specific hostel is very suffocating and not comfortable at all. If you are looking for something calm, quite and relaxing, avoid this one.

I had a great time at this hostel. Its definitely a more laid back vibe than the flying pig downtown. This is in a quite-er part of Amsterdam. I had an excellent experience here. It was still a pretty social experience and the location is phenomenal. Its located right next to a park. For a hostel this place is everything you could want. You get alot more here you would at a hostel near Amsterdam-Centraal. I will stay here again next time I solo travel. (Some of the staff members were a little rude but some were really cool- i guess that could happen anywhere)

  • 5/5 Irie R. 2 years ago on Google
Staff were so helpful and nice and the hostel had everything we needed and more for a good price. It was a little bit chaotic in the bar / smoking area sometimes but that is generally to be expected from a hostel in Amsterdam! If you're solo travelling and wanted to make friends you probably could here in about 5 minutes as there are many other guests who are in the same position.

uncomplicated, easy to find, friendly staff, good service + breakfast. not recommendable if you have a lot of luggage or a big suitcase though because the stairway to the rooms are very narrow and steep. perfect for backpackers.

By far one of the coolest hostels that I've ever been accommodated in. The location is great. All the staf is doing their job in such way that it doesn't even feel as a job. They are really there for the people who are staying in the hostel. Super helpful, attentive to details, always with a smile on. There is everywhere nice cute messages. You can buy different kind of tickets at the reception, included transportation, museum entrances and many more. Cleanliness everywhere. The beds and the rooms are super cozy, closets and showers included in some rooms but are also plenty of them in the halls and people that I had the chance to meet there were giving great energies. The bar is super fun. The aesthetics of the place is super colourful. Cheap food options and drinks. They have even a room for smoking hehe. Oh, and they are offering tasty breakfast. And you can get it for free if you book it directly from their website. If I would get again the chance, I would totally book it again. Thanks for such a great experience!

I had a nice stay in the hostel but here are the things that I disliked. Firstly, the shared toilets were extremely small, especially if you are a woman. Be prepared to use any other restroom in Amsterdam than that. Secondly, a member of the stuff placed on the floor the fresh sheets before change the beds and then use them. I didn't like that. I don't want to prevent anyone from staying there, the location is awesome! But for the price, I thought it would be a little better!

on the high-average side of the spectrum for dormitory hostel. great neighborhood, quiet but not shady. walking distance to amsterdam center, feel safe during the night big room, 12 bed is kinda crowded but there’s definitely enough space. no bed bugs or other hygienic issue. toilets and showers are clean. the bar is lovely, staff and other customers are nice. overall it’s a great experience for me.

Fantastic hostel. The common area has a bar and is heavily used by those staying there which makes it easy to meet people. The staff are also super helpful - Shannon offered to move things around so that my friend and I could stay in the same room even though we booked separately. Seb was also great - he helped me get into a nearby gym for a workout for free and laughed at some of my jokes even. All in all a fantastic experience. Highly recommend staying here if you’re in Amsterdam.

Amazing hostel. Compared to all the other places in Amsterdam, this one is one of the cheapest. The service, however, was excellent. During evenings there is a lot to do in the communal area. You can borrow board games, play a game of pool or compete in beer drinking. The only disappointment (minor) was the breakfast. I was expecting a larger variety of foods.

I love this hostel! Such great staff always looking to improve your experience. Say hi to Carlos the receptionist! He will make you feel right at home. The parties are great, the people are super loving. Couldn't ask for a better spot.

A comfortable, relaxing hostel with some fun. There were a lot of aspects that I loved about the hostel: 1. Very comfortable beds for a hostel 2. Common room is well set up with a bar, smoke room, pool table, and a hangout area for everyone else 3. Staff were helpful with any requests 4. Lockers for a fee are available to store your luggages 5. Location is very good, where it's quiet with all the museums and Albert Cuyp market close by, but at the same time, not too far away from the crazy parts of Amsterdam The one reason I'm taking off one star is because I was disappointed in their group activity or lack thereof: 1. No pub crawl 2. No walking tour The only activity going on was beer pong. Without activities, it's harder for solo travelers to socialize with everyone else. Overall, I was pleased with my stay, but if you are looking for a hostel that organizes group outings, I would recommend looking into other hostels.

On the top of the tower you will find nice bar when you can spend nice evening with few points and friends of course :) high rate pl...

😐 It is a large, somewhat impersonal, completely unshaded and extremely noisy campsite (we were in the tented section).Noisy because there is a large multi-lane bridge nearby, which is still very busy at night. Also noisy because of the "cigarette smokers". There are no rules and regulations - or if t...
