They make you pay 20% more if you don’t have cash with you to pay for the rooms because of credit card charges. There isn’t a lift and the stairs are extremely narrow so it was kinda dangerous to take our suitcases on the second floor. We booked a private room and I thought that except from a shower we would have our own toilet as well but that wasn’t the case. Regarding to cleanliness though I don’t have any complains. But the rule that they had about not being able to eat inside the room is ridiculous!!! Also they made my friend to pay a fine of 50€ because they burned their food at the microwave and set off the fire alarm!!! They had a paper stuck at the microwave saying that it’s not working properly but still they made her pay!!! They don’t bother buying a new one

The building was very weird. The stairs were very dangerous and difficult to walk up. As we entered our floor, the smell was horrific. We opened our door to find a dirty floor, graffiti in the cupboards, bunk beds were Rock solid and was very shaky! I honestly would recommend spending £10 more for a nicer place! But the location was perfect! Still wouldn’t recommend! I wanted to cry after staying there.

Rooms are cramped and stuffy and smelly. The male staff who checked me in didn't care...just told me which room and said grab any bed, even though there's little means to tell which bed has been taken, leading to people getting in your bed at night. No decent secure lockers. One night was more than enough here.

First time I was staying in a hostel and probably this is how all the hostels are but something were really annoying. For example the door of the rooms make a loud thud whenever someone opens or closes. And the metal cots make sound too. Also there is an extra charge of 5% if u pay by card.

Stayed one night here with absolutely no sleep. Was put in room with staff member who decided to spray deodorant into room before leaving for a good three seconds leaving the air in the room stinking of cheap deodorant and talcum powder making it all but impossible to breathe without tasting it. Completely un necessary thing to do, felt like a duchebag type move done to annoy me more than anything else. Got an overall feeling that I was being monitored. Quite uncomfortable night.

So the stairs at the beginning are only intended for sporty guests, the cleanliness sucks. The bathroom was so small that one person couldn't fit in it And the toilet was in a room where more than 10 people sleep. I booked two days. And I only slept there in the afternoon and then I ran away

Horrible hostel! Everything is dirty and the room 2 that we were staying in, has a horrible smell coming from the public toilet. We had to buy cleaning sprays and wipes to be able to use the room. The toilets are public but the showers are in the room. On top of it all the cleaning crew stole clothing from us (gloves and beanie) and MY HEADPHONES. We found out pretty late and there was nobody in the building to talk to about it. Never stay in it. It is not worth the money.

I recommend not staying at this place as they scammed me out of $200 before I even got a chance to stay there. I was trying to book them through Airbnb and the app inserted wrong dates. I canceled the reservation right away to book the correct dates. However it charged me $238. Out of which only $30 was refunded. Are you telling me within 30 seconds you lost potential business? The reviews seems to disagree. Fraudulent and unethical business practices will be the eventual demise of your establishment. Moreover, I was willing to rebook and pay for my stay for correct dates but your management did not even try to help me. Dismissing paying customer is a reflection of your poor customer service, disorganized staff and a failing business. For people reading this review, I advise you to look somewhere else and avoid the hassle.

Better be prepared to pay more than you are supposed to because they make you pay for their credit card fees. Also be prepared to pay a deposit in cash. We did not receive the rooms we booked but they put some of our group in a random room with others. The rooms are relatively clean. Honestly at that price point, just pay a tiny amount more for any random hotel room, don't be hassled by the annoying payment terms, have an AC in the room

Poor service. Small rooms. Medium cleaning. Excellent location. If you pay by card they charge you 5% extra (?).

For what I could find for some of the cheapest accomodation in Amsterdam this hostel was fine. Very steep staircase up to the first floor as others have mentioned. Storage lockers were fine, if a little small. Internet worked well. There's a smoking room (with associated smell). Limited bathroom facilities, two toilets and one shower on the floor we stayed on. As a place to sleep it's fine, but not one of the nicer hostels I've stayed in. Next time I'm in Amsterdam I will spend a little more money for a nicer space.

Very poor stay, high price for low quality. Upon arrival the staff was rude exclaiming “you guys make my job so hard!” When we asked if they could split the cost between us because we are all collage students and would like to pay separately. They were also always out of towels for us. We would greatly consider going somewhere else for your stay

TLDR: worst hostel we've ever stayed in. Where do we even begin. Upon arrival, we only got one key between four of us (all adults)! The stairs were dangerous and very narrow. There is no kitchen access and very limited social area. We were asked to move rooms on our third night (!) (and put our suitcases in the lobby while they cleaned it) and the new room only had 2 plug sockets for 6 people. The only saving grace was Jessica and the location was beautiful and very central.

There's a lot of bad review so you might consider going somewhere else, but the truth is that this budget hostel is perfectly fine, it's really well located, the staff was super nice and helpful (let us left our bags even after our reservation and made arrangements so that we could both stay in the same room) the room were clean and there was one socket per beds, it's not that noisy and with ear plugs you'll be fine. The smoking area is very chill and makes it easier to talk to other people. The room felt safe and not too big so you don't sleep with 20 strangers. Really I recommend you try this place and don't trust people with bad experience making it look like a very bad hostel whereas it's perfectly fine for the price!

Stayed here for 1 night room was pretty small and cramped but does the job as a place to rest your head. Smoking area is a great addition and the reason I gave 5 stars. The main downside is they charge you for towels which I thought was a mockery.

Nice hostel. Clean and good staff. Perfect location. We rented bikes nearby from a bike shop named King Bikes. The bikes are good quality and cheap prices.

Relatively small rooms (for 6), AC unit was impractical at night (noisy). Beds will be small for taller individuals. Emergency number didn't pick up at night. Some... unusual individuals might pop up in the smoking room sometimes. Small shared bathrooms. But aside from all thosz little things, price is quite low for the location, so I'd say it's a good lifesaver when you wanna go to Amsterdam and have reduced budget.

Stayed here whilst travelling europe. The rooms were a bit small, cramped and smelly but meh, it's to be expected in a back packers place especially during summer. Staff were very friendly, I smoked at the time so had to go outside the whole building to smoke cigs but there was a complimentary mellow strain of weed available which could be smoked in the lounge area. Stairs are fairly steep and bathrooms could have been better but great location though.

Disappointing stay for $100pp a night - the room was tiny and dirty, we had water leaking from the air conditioner onto the floor, the shower smelt like urine and the bathrooms were incredibly small and unclean. Staff were lovely and location is definitely great and worthwhile if you won’t be in the room much - however, wouldn’t recommend overall.

Minimal space to move and many beds in one tiny room, but one of the more affordable options in expensive Amsterdam. Very basic, don't expect too much. Shower area doesn't have any place to even hang your clothes. Reception guy was nice and cooperative!

Don’t stay here it’s filthy and the staff don’t care. Pee stains all over the mattress and duvets, and the sheets for one of our beds had dirt and hair on it, like it hadn’t been changed since the last time

Very sketchy men at this place. As a female traveler I’ve stayed at many cheap hostels and never felt unsafe like I did at this one. The room also was very small and musty with a sensor light that would turn on whenever you left or entered. This was a problem because the bathrooms were outside and anytime you needed to go the light would turn on for 10 minutes. Would never stay here again.

This is my 3rd visit to amsterdam. I like the hostel from my 2 experience. Most important thing the guy at reception during night shift was so cool. We stayed for 2 nights friday and Saturday. I found it best. Thanks guys for such service and special thanks to guy with specs who was at reception. See you soon guys…

Too many stairs to climb. Some staff not too friendly. Glass doors in shower see through and no door to close. Open to those sharing the dorm

  • 3/5 Lucia Di P. 8 months ago on Google
the room was nice and clean but for the door of the shower that was broken, nothing to complain about the service but the fact that they make you pay +3% if you pay by card (😏) it's not worth the money you pay for it though, but still I was not able to find anything cheaper in Ams.

A cheap but clean ,well run hostel could do with a few more bathrooms. Staff helpful and efficient. Does smell of pot which is freely available. Not my scene!

Read so many bad reviews of this hostel but for me it was fine to stay and sleep here. My friend booked a 6-bed room for five of us and it was great. It might be too small if the people who stay there bring big luggage. The staffs were friendly and helpful. You don’t have to worry to bring your luggage everywhere outside your check-in time because they let you to store your luggage there. There was no kitchen but a microwave although in the airbnb website they said there is one.

Nice location, not really clean, very sheap, showers too tiny and have to share it with too many If you get the bed dorm.

I have a request from them as I have special needs, I hope they put a sign on it that says “it is forbidden to serve people with special needs because they do not deserve it”. Today, Sunday 14/05/2023, I was exposed to a situation that abused me and my condition, as the employee refused to serve me and asked me to enter the store even though there were none Means of entry for the physically disabled, such as a slide to enter the wheelchair, really caused me a state of frustration, may God help. Decent hostel! The men at the reception are super kind and friendly! But there is a really strange smell in the dorm rooms and the showers are very small! There is also a fee if you want to pay with card 😅 which is insane as we don’t do this in South Africa at all.

For a budget hostel this was perfect, great location, great staff on all day and night, and a smoking room where we had some of the best times whilst in Amsterdam meeting people and generally having a laugh.

Dont ever go there. This place stinks plus the stairs are unbearable when it comes to carrying any baggage. Invest money on your stay because you are not going to like this one

We visited Amsterdam for 2 days and we stayed at this hostel for 1 night. Even though their regular check-in time is 13 hours, still they respected our request and allowed us to check-in early at around 11 hours, which is really thankful otherwise we would be tired carrying our bags and stuff all around. The staff is quite cooperative and the hostel is also clean. There is a separate smoking zone inside the hostel itself so you wouldn't have to go out in the cold at night or in the morning if you have cravings for smoke 😉. Overall a nice experience and a nice decent stay, worth every penny.

Cheap and reliable, perfect for college students and backpackers. We were given an overbooked room at first but Mario at the front desk sorted it out and was very friendly and helpful. Their store sells everything you could need and they have a great coffee machine and snacks for cheap 24/7.

Very nice hostel with great value for what you pay, the rooms were a bit lackluster but you're not meant to spend all your time at the hotel/hostel when you're in Amsterdam anyway. Only (positive) negative is that you'll be walking up a lot of stairs if you stay here.

Friendly staff. The rooms were clean. Had extra blankets in the room. The feel near the river was great. One can get all the daily needs like small toothpaste deodorants tampons etc was available with descent rates.

It was a 10 room dorm. They need to establish stricter rules on the clients. Lights out at 2200 or 2300 hours. This means staff also. It's Amsterdam the vast majority of the youth here are high. They have 1 toilet for 10 people & 1 shower & sink for 10 people. They also have a double sink in the room. They need an external vent pulling cool air in and an internal removing hot stale mushy air. Beware bunks are short, I'm 5' 11.5" or less than 1.83 meters and feet & head hung over rail. Some of the staff was great, some had personality of a snail. Also there appears to be an electrical short in lighting. Overall a good location. A decent stay.

The rooms were small but good for what we got. Pretty nice although the stairs we're very steep which was a little risky with suitcases. The receptionists were really nice and very helpful. The showers are we're also nice but the layout was very tight. Same with the bathrooms. But they were very good about cleaning everything. And it's in a perfect location - walking distance from everything and a mile from Amsterdam Centraal station

I stayed in the hostel for 2 nights in early October. I liked it very much for the good location, free maps, cleanliness, most of the staff was pleasant and also the separate space for smokers. What I didn’t like were the steep stairs, but I figured out this is a general Dutch thing and also few charging ports. In my room (6 mixed), we had to share 3 charging ports which was quite a task because we would come back with our phones or cameras dead and couldn’t charge them immediately. But in general, I had a comfy stay and would recommend it for the quality-price. ^^ P.s: you have to leave a deposit fee (I don’t know if it is a standard price but I paid 15€ which was returned when I checked out), there are lockers in the rooms but locks cost 2.50€ from the reception.

Great location between the city center and the museum district. Our room was quite a lot smaller than our rooms in other hostels, and the mattresses were not quite as comfortable, but tolerable.

  • 3/5 Sara G. 2 years ago on Google
Good place for short stays, price is very good when compared to other hostels in Amsterdam. But rooms are very small and there is just 2 plugs in 6 person room and stairs are very narrow.

The hostel is very basic but clean. Staff is super helpful and when I wanted to change rooms, since I have been the only girl among 7 men in my room, Benjamin has done everything to make this possible and I could change into another room. The location is also perfect for exploring the city. Thank you for everything.
