From the moment I arrived at the Tivoli Hotel in Amsterdam, I was immersed in a truly five-star experience. Located in the bustling heart of the city, Tivoli provided easy access to everything that Amsterdam has to offer - shopping, dining, and sightseeing, all within a comfortable walking distance. My room was a delightful surprise, spacious and immaculately renovated. The decor perfectly combined modern chic with a comforting warmth, making it a welcoming retreat after a day of exploration. A highlight was undoubtedly the hotel's dedication to providing a serene and relaxed environment, contributing to a deeply restful stay. Every morning, I was treated to an array of breakfast choices that were as delightful in taste as they were in presentation. The variety and quality of food made for a great start to the day, and was a clear reflection of Tivoli's commitment to their guests' culinary satisfaction. The staff members were nothing short of exceptional. Always ready with a warm smile, they were attentive, courteous, and eager to assist, ensuring every part of my stay was seamless. Their dedication to customer service is truly commendable and added an extra layer of enjoyment to my visit. For those arriving by car, parking is a breeze. The easy accessibility and convenience of the hotel's parking facilities were greatly appreciated, removing any potential stress of city parking. In summary, my stay at Tivoli Hotel was marked by outstanding service, luxurious accommodations, excellent food, and a prime location. For anyone planning a trip to Amsterdam, I cannot recommend Tivoli Hotel highly enough - it truly provides an exceptional experience of Dutch hospitality at its finest. Rating: ★★★★★

Guess since they had a year off from covid they forgot about customer service. From the beginning we should of known this was not going to be a 5 star hotel. The check in was not ready until 5pm so we had to just keep waiting around. The door had a part broken off where you scan the card, the remote control to the television didn't work. Then the worst part was that we had a bag stolen out of the room and the manager would not show us her face and showed up to work 1.5 hours late. All they said was sorry but there is nothing they can do. I have stayed in 3 star hotels that are way better than this one for a wat better price.. I recommend you don't let house keeping in since they are not hotel employees but contracted out and that was the only other person in the room.

Having arrived on the earliest flight to make the most of our long weekend in Amsterdam, we were greeted by the wonderful reception staff at the hotel. They could not have been more helpful and accommodating if they tried. A warm refreshing towel and a welcome drink appeared immediately and check in was a breeze. Our room (No 002 The Empress Suite) was available and our luggage sent our room. The location is a central as you can wish with every aspect of Amsterdam life a short stroll away. Breakfast was delicious with an array of freshly prepared options to suit all palates and again all the staff were very charming and exceedingly helpful. Our friends' are planning a trip shortly and we have highly recommended the hotel. A wonderful example of a beautiful historical hotel with all the mode cons.

Note this review is coming from an American tourist (and spouse) that are in our early 50s and loved spending a relaxing week in Amsterdam. Absolutely 5 out of 5 stars for our experience at this hotel. Location is PERFECT - super close to everything yet VERY quiet and away from the craziness. Absolutely was an exceptional stay. ALL staff from the doorman to check-in were excellent, and the breakfast staff was truly the best staff I have ever seen. Precious was so friendly and helpful and by the end of our stay anticipated our every need. The lady of Italian heritage could not have been better. And the hostess (I believe of Asian descent) was completely top notch and made us feel like we were family. The rooms are very nice, super clean, and have the best sound insulation I have ever experienced in a hotel. The AC works great if you like it cold at night, the showers are awesome and have great hot water, and the TV has adequate channels in English to keep up with the news at night. Not a complaint at all, but my only "FYI" is that the 5 star hotel rating is not quite equivalent to other 4 and 5 star properties I have stayed at in Asia and North America. However, in Amsterdam there are a number of supposedly 3 star properties that look like places I would never even consider staying, so know you are staying at one of the nicest hotels in the city. Anyway, the experience and my happiness level (AND factoring in the value) is a STRONG 5 out of 5.

I really enjoyed my 3 night stay at the Tivoli hotel. The service was amazing thanks to Elena the receptionist and all the doormen. They were amazing, very friendly and welcoming, keep up the good work! BUT the rest of the receptionists were rude, they made me feel like I was not welcome, that I was not a hotel guest.

The hotel is vey nice, but the restaurant is a complete disaster. We’ve been waiting our food for 1.45 hours, and the restaurant was almost empty, only one table plus ours. Then, when food arrived, one dish was missed and all the salads came without dressing. We asked for some bread during our waiting time, and it took half an hour to bring it. Never coming back here for dinner.

We love coming here, this is our favourite hotel in Amsterdam. They have a whole set of rooms that are facing the canal, and - honestly, the view couldn’t be more magical. You don’t need any fancy cocktail in your hand when you can get such a view ;) The hotel is sparkling clean, the staff incredibly lovely and attentive, happy and ready to help if you have any need. The rooms are spacious and very neat. We did not have the breakfast included this time so we cannot judge, but the room where they serve it is beautiful, looking the canal and the sunrise 😍 So, this place is highly recommended if you want to feel at home in Amsterdam!

Beautiful hotel with a great location !! Amazing history (Oldest Hotel in Amsterdam and Rembrandt painted his famous De Nachwacht here)! Great views! The staff is really friendly and helpful. The rooms are very comfortable with every modern and old facility you could think of.

The hotel is okay, but it’s definitely not a 5 star hotel per the Google rating. It was misleading and we were disappointed when we checked into our room. The room cleanliness was an issue and our ceiling shower head needed major repairs (water came out of the side instead of from the actual shower head), so only one of the shower heads was available to use. The rooms are also very small. Overall, I guess the price is more in line with a lower rated hotel, so we wish the ratings would’ve accurately reflected what we would check into.

We ended our holiday on a poor note with this hotel. The stay was nice and the rooms were decent however at checkout we were informed that over £600 was taken from our account as hold money. I understand it’s standard practice for hotels to take hold money however we were never told that this money was taken from our account until checkout- our bank also queried why the amount was so much especially considering the hotel was already pre paid. The lady at the checkout was quite rude in handling this situation and did not have evidence of a receipt to say that this money had been taken from our account. We had to go through our bank to get the money back. Very disappointing- won’t be returning.

perfect hotel and location! the staff are just great. I, without knowing the language, did not know that checking in after 15.00 with a dog was rude at first, but when the staff calmly explained everything to me. I immediately realized that I was a fool and asked for forgiveness. and they made me the best room with a beautiful view and a minibar as a gift) I love this hotel very much and now it’s always only this one 🥰🥰🥰

The most Beautiful hotel in Amsterdam❗️ Ideal location: all the most important tourist places are within walking distance. It was nice to walk to the National Opera & Ballet, visit the performance and return on foot through the quiet streets of Amsterdam at night. Breakfasts at the restaurant are fantastic! Such a variety and quality of food! The restaurant itself, overlooking the Amstel River, has a serene atmosphere. The entire hotel personnel is very professional , friendly and helpful.

Our nightly room rates ranged from 500 to 674 Euros per night, for a Premium room, before city taxes. For that we received a dysfunctionally sized room on the 3rd floor; it was tapered by several feet from one end to the other. It was so narrow at one end that the lamp on the desk was in front of the TV! The bldg is worn and tired and while the canal provided a nice view, the external noise will keep you up at night. This was the fourth hotel we stayed at during our three week trip. While all the hotels were rated 5 star, this was the singularly worst! The hotel appears to have significant labor issues as they are employing contract workers on a daily basis. The breakfast was lacking in variety, presentation and taste. We were not the only guests to experience difficulty ordering an omelette in the AM. The rain shower was clogged and not enough room to reasonably place the trash receptacle in the bathroom. Afternoon tea in the bar area seemed to tax the staff?? My recommendation would be to avoid this hotel until they update the rooms, fix their staffing issues and determine to provide a 5 Star experience for the price they are charging for their rooms!! P.S. I am Gold Status with NH Hotels if that helps shed light on what you might expect!!

Clean room and friendly staff. Of course great location, right next to the flower market. Overall we enjoyed our stay however this is not a 5 star hotel. The room was very small (this is not the case in for example the Krasnapolsky which is another NH Collection Hotel in Amsterdam). Also the breakfast buffet while nice is not on 5 star hotel level. Since we also did not pay the "5 star" price this was to be expected. One thing I absolutely did not expect is the extremely slow "free wifi". Of course you can pay for faster internet but come on this is just blatantly milking the guest. For this alone I will deduct one more star.

We booked this hotel because of the location and overall ambiance and being able to have a quiet restaurant and bar onsite after long day of sightseeing. The hotel staff was great, the room was nice but small (but expected) but the bar and restaurant was beyond disappointing. We sat for 40 minutes without attention. (mad at myself for putting up with it that long!!). At one point I went to the bar to order some drinks and the guy at the bar didn't know how to make a drink and told me to go back to the table and order from the waiter. Anyway I expect much more from a 5 star hotel. This almost ruined our evening until we left and went next door to Graziella Trattoria. Turned our night around. Warm welcoming and accommodating staff. Thank goodness for them!!

I would give 6 stars if I could. Rose and her team made as feel like royals. Food, wine, service and ambiance were simply brilliant. The chef cooks in an open kitchen amidst the dining room, the reversed apple pie is a desert made in heaven. It truly is a hidden gem and we’re glad we were lucky to discover it.

We stayed at Tivoli Doelen in Amsterdam for six nights in October 2023. We were delighted with our stay. We were on the 4th floor with a beautiful view of the canal. The room was crazy large and had all of the amenities of high end hotels including beautiful fresh flowers in the room. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. They made great suggestions for meals and activities we hadn’t researched. The bed was comfortable as was the shower. It was a great experience!

10/10 Hotel In Amsterdam. Classy, QUIET, clean, and in a perfect, central location but without any party / street noise (again I reiterate that it was SO quiet - I'm a super light sleeper!) Everyone we dealt with was so friendly and helpful - I didn't catch his name but the doorman covering while we were there (3/12-3/15) was the most pleasant, helpful, warm human being - wish we got to thank him! The rooms were very clean, shower & toiletries were great, and the bed was comfortable after long days of walking. Also the breakfast buffet looked & smelled amazing (we didn't venture in there until we were leaving, unfortunately) We would ABSOLUTELY stay here again!! Book a canal view room on a higher floor if you can - it was stunning!

Our stay at the Tivoli was amazing. The hotel is lovely and is located in a lively neighborhood which is centrally located. We had a beautiful room on the canal. The breakfast buffet was excellent with glorious views of the canal. The most outstanding feature of the hotel is the staff members. We were treated special every time we had a request or even had a conversation with a member of the staff. We would like to thank in particular Maria , Bert and Oliver. They made us feel so welcome and were amazingly helpful! Thank you for such a great experience and stay in Amsterdam!

My stay in Tivoli Doelen was very pleasant. Nice breakfast was included. Location and view from room window were perfect. The only remark I have is that I wish they could provide me the room one I get there, rather then keeping me on hold for few hours (since I arrived 11am and they have check in at 3pm, a pretty strict on timing I would say).

We stayed at the Tivoli Doelen, one of Amsterdam's oldest hotels, recently renovated and very charming. A great location in the Amsterdam center between the Kloveniersburgwal Canal on one side and the River Amstel on the other provided great views from our room.

I LOVED this hotel. The staff are so welcoming and friendly bending over backwards to help (John), welcoming you and making you feel so cared for (Sander) and super helpful (Bora). The location can’t be beat, the rooms feel luxurious and even though it’s the oldest hotel in Amsterdam it has a modern, classy feel. Highly recommend.

During our Christmas stay at Tivoli my family and I had a great stay. The service, rooms and location were extremely good. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were very helpful, whether at the front desk, room service or concierge. I highly recommend this hotel as we stayed 7 nights.

An excellent find in a perfect location! Gorgeous hotel with some serious history (Rembrandt’s Night Watch once hung here!). The staff are respectful and ready to help at any opportunity. Highly recommend a leisurely breakfast here - food and views of the canal are excellent. The rooms are small, but very functional and clean. We happened to be in the lobby when Eric Armitage was setting up for his superb Rembrandt Paint Making class. Free if you’re staying at the hotel and so worth it! Eric is incredibly knowledgeable, an excellent speaker and very engaging. A talented artist and tour guide, he led us through how Rembrandt would have made his paints and then we got to do our own paint mixing and painting! It was relaxing and fun - a fabulous early evening activity, especially paired with the hotel’s evening aperitif. If you’re staying for a few days or a week, I would stay here. Looking forward to our return!

An amazing place to stay. So much history mixed with modern and beautifully presented rooms. My wife needed dental treatment and the staff arranged everything. The big surprise was the education on Rembrandt with an education on paint creation hosted by Eric Armitage in the hotel. This is a 6 star experience from start to finish. We will be back

Warning! This is not a five star hotel! All the staff was great besides the loud old man in the restaurant. He got so mad at us when we entered the restaurant with closed doors for the first time at precisely 7 in the morning, that is when they open for breakfast buffe. He didn't open the door on time. It was a shameful reaction and he should have apologise for his awful behaviour. You could hear his loud voice all the time when he served the guests. The breakfast buffe was very poor and it tasted old. The juices are not freshly made. You could order omelette, steak veggies, bacon etc. from the chef and we didn't know this until the last day. They should have done a breakfast menu FYI at each table. The rooms are poor built. You can hear clearly voices outside the room if someone is speaking or other doors closes/opens.The balcony are connected to other rooms at the same floor/side. That's creepy if there's any psykopaths staying at the same floor! Nothing happened thank god but I was worried for four nights! They should have at least get one more elevator. We took the stairs many times because we gave up waiting for the elevator from the highest floor. Next time we come to Amsterdam we'll choose the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky instead! It can't be worse than this hotel.

Nice hotel in a perfect location in the heart of the city. Staff were very friendly, the room was big enough and all very good. Possible let down is the breakfast which is a little limited in choice. But it's a nice hotel and would stay there again

We had a very pleasant stay at the NH Doelen in July. The check-in experience was smooth and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. They helped us with our luggage, arranged a taxi for our early morning departure, and secured a last minute dinner reservation for our group of 8. The lobby had water, fruits and candy for the guests. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. We did not have an opportunity to eat at the hotel’s restaurant but the menu looked very good. The location of the hotel is excellent and the area is very safe. There are plenty of bars, restaurants and cafes within a few minutes walk. All the major attractions are within a 15 minute walk. The hotel also offers bike rentals at a reasonable price. The rooms are small but well planned. Our rooms had the canal view and a small balcony. Overall, great stay and we would definitely consider staying here again in the future. Thank you to the staff for a pleasant stay!

This hotel was spectacular. If you want that 5 star experience, NH collection hotels does not disappoint. The suite we used was great and cleaned everyday to perfection. The views are lovely. Far enough away from the centre for some peace but not so far you need to walk miles to get there. The breakfasts and room service was also delightful. Every morning the chef always had something to recommend

Loved the hotel, great location and very friendly staff. The room size was good for two people. Our room was by the main street so it was a bit noisy and loud construction woke us up early in the morning.

The location is nice, walking distance to almost everything, the view is amazing, quick room service , the cleaning needs improvement, the only bad thing was the rooms are very small it’s not even enough for tow big bags

Great Hotel with awesome views and location is perfect. Rooms are clean and view from the 4th floor on the canal side is amazing. Staff are polite and very nice to talk to. Very helpful. I won't knock the rooms much but their was a smell around the lifts area which is not pleasant. So taking a star off for that. Plenty of nice bars around the area with cafe jarden next door which overlooks the canal and has outdoor seating. Freddy's bar is great at the end of the road.

We had a fantastic time at NHC Amsterdam Doelen. The hotel is centrally located in an impressive palace. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms facing the canal are bright and spacious. The breakfast-room faces the water side with a lovely view. Everything is clean and neat - you feel right at home. Would very much recommend a stay for a city break in Amsterdam.

Beautifully decorated hotel in amazing location. Found all of the staff so friendly and helpful and felt they went over and above to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Also the fact they accept dogs and make them feel just as welcome is a huge bonus.

Absolutely brilliant stay here at the Tivoli Doelen Hotel Amsterdam, every member of staff made an impression which was warm, friendly and enthusiastic to meet all our needs! Bert at the door made us instantly feel welcomed and offered great advice on the local areas! Breakfast was brilliant and there were plenty of great options for gluten free and vegans (I myself am vegan and felt very catered for!) Jasmin was super friendly and kind and really catered for me and my Mum so well. The rooms were so comfortable, probably the best night sleep I’ve had! Will definitely be returning asap and so very sad to be leaving! Thank you to all the staff for a brilliant weekend we’ll remember for a long time x
