If only I could've given 0 stars I would have. Zero hygiene, dirty sheets, ridiculous sized toilets filled with vomit. The stairs were comparable to a hiking experience. The price was WAY TOO high. I surely don't reccomend you to pass your journey here.

Abysmal experience. We arrived midnight and they overcharged us €20 in cash with a “sorry, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to talk to the manager”. We had nowhere else to stay and were essentially forced to stay the night. As we walked into our room, after climbing the stairs that’s steeper than the alps, we found that one of our beds was damped with a yellow stain. Moreover, the toilet door was also stained with a brown skid mark, leaving me no choice but to stare at it while going for a number two. I absolutely do NOT recommend this place.

I booked Amigo as it was just outside the city and I wanted some rest without city noise. The hostel was a short 5 minute walk from the station and had some nice restaurants next to it. Unfortunately, there were no plugs next to or near my bed, so i had to sit in reception to charge my devices for a couple of hours. I had some disrespectful travelers in my room so I never got much sleep at all for the 2 nights. But that's not the hostels fault. I resorted to headphones and music to help me sleep. The stairs are really steep up to the hostel, I noticed most are like this.. Beware of vertigo. There was an en suite toilet with shower and a separate toilet just outside the room if it was occupied. There was a cheap kebab shop next door which I tried and it was very good.

I visited the hotel during this Easter holidays. It was clean. The 4 bed mix dorm was super good. Every floor has one separate toilet and shower. The only drawback of the hotel is the stairs. Check the photos. There is no lift. If you have a heavy trolley or heavy bags you should then think twice before booking the hotel. Rest of the things are super good. The reception is open 24/7. The hotel staff were really good and helpful. How to reach there? From central station it takes 20 mins to reach the hotel. It's 100 meters walk from the tram stop Oostport. ( Tram no. 19). From Slotedijk station, tram no. 19 directly comes to the hotel location and it takes 40-45 mins to reach the hotel.

Stayed for two nights in a private twin bed room with my partner, room 103. The room is tiny. Just enough for the beds. There are holes on the floor, there were hairs on the bed, but the linen was clean. The common bathroom next to our room was too small, and dirty. The bathroom and shower on the other side of the stairs was quite decent though. In all, we felt like it was a rip-off. The place is NOT worth the excessive price they charge. 60 EUR a night for this very low quality 'budget hostel' is just too much.

We were welcomed by a friendly employee at the 24 hour reception. The location of the hostel is not very central, but it is easily accessible by public transport and there are some supermarkets, restaurants, bike rentals and a park nearby. There are lockers and a sink in the room. After check-in we went up a steep (really steep) staircase to the second floor. If you get a room on the fifth floor, you no longer have to worry about other sporting activities, as there is no elevator. As described when booking, you share the bathroom and toilet with the other residents on your floor. Depending on the time of day, the condition of the toilets is either passable or absolutely disastrous (both toilets were clogged one morning and there was vomit in the sink and on the walls). The rooms are small (about 8 square meters for 4 people) and have little space for luggage. All of the room's electrical outlets are in a power strip above the sink, making it difficult to charge your cell phone overnight. There is also no soap dispenser at the room sink and the beds are not only very narrow, but also short. By the way, the beds are not allocated, so after my first night someone else slept in my bed (from then on I marked my bed with personal items). The Wi-Fi in the room works perfectly during the day, but hardly at all in the evening. There are only 4 small hooks in the shower, but no real storage space for clothes, which is why showering turned out to be quite inconvenient. In addition, young women in particular should look for other accommodation if they do not want to share a room with suspicious-looking older men.

The rooms and the bathrooms are too small and there are not enough plug point. The wifi 😞 don't ask. The bathrooms are too small to get in comfortably. Its a budget friendly offer i would say avoid it if your not using it for just keeping your language and to sleep. The beds are not comfortable you will get body pain the next day.

Good location, reasonable price, if you bring suitcases, access is a bit complicated, not recommended for adults, you will have to share the bathroom with several people

Very dirty! The toilets are so small that you cannot use them properly. Beds are to small and dirty too. We stayed there for two nights and it was loud every single one. The Bathrooms look like they get cleaned once a week. I would not recommend staying there!

Very friendly staff at reception. The location is easily accessible from Muiderpoort Station. Then you have the tram to explore Amsterdam. Price-quality ratio is absolutely right! Tidy rooms! Our tip: We had a delicious (and cheap for Amsterdam standards) drinks and dinner behind the hostel at the waterside at Eighty-Four. Inside there was football on the big screens

As most places in old Amsterdam, there are no elevators and you need to "climb" the stairway. It lacks better attendance. A safer place to keep your luggage and some room service, as we had none. (At least for cleaning the rooms). As a Dutch taxi driver affirmed Amsterdam's name is bigger than the city itself. I recommend that you plan your trip in advance in order to find a better place and better prices.

This hostel was certainly not the best I've been at. As soon as I stepped in, it smelled like weed (even though there is the rule that smoking weed in the hostel is forbidden). The staff wasn't very welcoming either and the level of cleanliness could be way better. Overall, it's not worth it.

Enjoyed our stay here for sure! The room was big enough for two people, with a big mirror, the bathroom is super nice and has a medium-sized shower. It gets dirty pretty easily (even more if you’re a girl) and the only problem that during your stay it doesn't get cleaned. The receptionists are super nice and always available for anything! 🫶🏻

Each room comes with a locker to store your things in. However make sure you bring your own padlock! I stored my modt important things in the locker and the rest of the stuff I made do keeping it in my bag under my bed. Beds are comfortable enough but are very creaky. So if you're a light sleeper beware of this as other people tossing and turning in the night may disturb you. Staff are friendly and are happy to share their knowledge of Amsterdam with you and provide free maps of the city to help you around. At the check in desk there's a mini fridge with soft drinks and water for sale and some small snacks too. L

The prices and the room pleasantly surprised

It was horrible. Everything started with stairs to hell, then we arrived our room and there was a bad smell. Because they have never ever opened a window I guess. Toilet and bathroom were shared and they were dirty as well. They didn't even have soap. Beds were so small, you don't have any chance to move. Also, there were a bug in my bed and sheets were smelly. The only good thing is that it was somehow close to the city center.

During the train disruption of June 4, 2023, Hotel Amigo still offered rooms for a normal price. The rooms and the sanitary facilities were clean. The beds were comfortable. The service from the staff was good and friendly.

This hostel must be closed down! Really, stay away! I have travelled the world, and this hostel ranks among the worst I have ever stayed in. The staff is unwelcoming and unfriendly, and the price listed online differs from the one upon arrival. I was told to pay more in cash or leave (in-loco staff pushed someone down the main stairs due to price disagreement), and I observed the staff and their friends harassing a few girls that were lodging there, in a way felt really schetch like they might be a part of a turkish cartel. I left the hotel before the four-day stay less to say the bunkbed rooms were crowded and the public restrooms were filthy, the low price advertised was not worth it. This does not honour what should a resting place for your stay in Amsterdam need to close asap!

For the price we paid for 2 days it possibly the best bang for buck place you could get. The rooms, toilets and bathrooms were really clean and the staff were also super accommodative and helpful. The location also puts you really close to a bunch of attractions and right beside the orange tram line.

Horrific experience. We had to book this place because it was cheaper compared to other options but it turned out terrible experience for us. I think they did not have ventilation at all as it was impossible to breath in the dorm. Every morning we woke up in full sweat and bathroom was not also good. Do your best to avoid this place not to ruin your trip as we did!

I was refused entry as the host said it is for families with briefcases.. I was apparently unwell in his eyes. In Amsterdam with almost a million people one would think free mind was not a rare thing. Dont go here unless you have a rolls Royce and Rolex white gold watches and have wife and kids, the hostel only allows idiots in their hotel.

Booked overnight stay for one whole 8 bed dorm and a twin room. Receptionist was friendly 8 bed dorm was good enough for the stay... had lockers and individual water closed equipped with shower. Twin room was so small compared to the one shown in pictures, also the cleanliness could be improved. Great for backpackers, and not so good option for couples.

Everything is good, but why I need to pay for reservation?? Why don't you take money from my credit card straight for bed? I need to pay twice, yes those money will be returned after few weeks, but I have a hole in my tourist budget. This is so wrong...

I booked amigo hotel in Amsterdam for 2 night 2-4 Jan 2023,EVERYTHING WAS CONFIRMED. but when I reached there they are refused to enter and very bad behave with us , as they told there are no booking in the hotel. They pushed my wife and out from the hotel ,in such a bad manner .Which I can’t expect from the hotel The receptionist was very bad behaviour and so rude they thrown us in road with my two kids as it was raining too much . Pls don’t do the mistake to book this hotel in any time .

One of the best hostels I have seen so far The prices are also reasonable. And if you're in Amsterdam then don't forget to take the discounts cards presented at the reception. It's really useful that could help you save a couple of euros that can be used to buy something else.

Very expensive for what is offered..Bathrooms always very filty impossible to use toilet..1 bathroom per floor..too many rooms, had to wait at least 40 min for a shower.. Staff not so friendly... Location not the best..the area is a bit dodgy...Not remended...

Good location and low prices for the accomodation. Smokers room. Great that we have a sink in the room, cause two showers is not enough for the whole floor.

Not a great hostel... Right from the first moment in this hostel, not great. The service desk receptionist took a really long time to even acknowledge me, and when you're trying to check in after a long day of travel that's the opposite of what you want. The rooms are small and packed with small beds. The beds are pretty comfortable but they're very small, and they're too tightly packed. The rooms are also very smelly, and kind of gross... Like not exactly dirty, but you kind of just want to avoid touching things too much. The lockers are tiny, too small to put anything in, and... I know this isn't anything against the hostel, but the people in my room seemed a little sketchy, the kind of people you'd want to lock your stuff up around. The bathrooms are small and pretty gross. Overall, not terrible, but I would recommend finding another hostel if you have the choice. It's also very out of the way of most interesting parts of Amsterdam

Location wasn’t too bad, staff were friendly enough. the steps are very steep which is difficult with a bag and i would not attempt if you have mobility issues as there is no other way to get to reception & rooms. Room was average. Walls are paper thin, bunk didn’t have a ladder or railings and was a foot away from the wall which was a touch concerning and the walls could really do with an updated paint job. More disgustingly though, there was blood in the sink (see attached photo), the bathrooms never appeared to be cleaned and neither did the bins. Our room was also full of flies. This place is a real mixed bag but you get what you pay for.

Great place to stay a few nights on a budget. Friendly staff and everything you need is close by. Steep stairs were fine even on the top floor if you are fit. The toilets really are a tight squeeze as others have mentioned. I had read reviews before going and was still shocked at how tight a squeeze you need to get in. My wardrobe is about the same size as the toilet. I would be happy to stay there again and had a great few days.

  • 2/5 Dita W. 4 years ago on Google
The location is good, only takes about 3.20 Euro's to the city's main locations by bus. But the stair is really steep and when it's raining it's become slippery too, you have to be careful. There is no bathroom amenities, bring your own soap etc. Rest of it are okay.

I have booked in advance the hostel some months before the departure. Three days before the date of arrival, the hostel mailed me sking to update the data of my credit card, because they weren't able to accede it (maybe because the amount was not enough). I immediately charged it with the entire amount for the reservation and emailed the property for a confirmation. They didn't answer and the day after they cancelled my reservation without any explanation. I immediately called them and the man that answered me said: "these are business rules, now you should book again the room at the higher price on booking ". He didn't help me to find another way to book at the same price and told me to book with the same card (?!). Clearly, under holidays it was more convenient to free the room at put it at a higher price on the market. Congrats!

  • 2/5 Jacqueline M. 3 years ago on Google
The worst hostel I ever been. Far from main tourist attractions, close enough to public transport. No kitchen, huge stairs to get there. Showers were also a problem, to small. Clean enough.

  • 5/5 Rinaldo W. 1 year ago on Google
Considering the price per night this place deserves 5 stars. If you're going to be critical about a budget hostel you should find yourself a proper room, which they also offer ✌🏾

  • 4/5 Hasan G. 1 year ago on Google
I think ıt's a average hostel. Staff is very good. But rooms and toilets are very small .Nevertheless you maybe preferred here.

  • 4/5 Adrian 1 year ago on Google
Honestly worth your money. Clean, staff are nice, what you’d expect for your money. Most people complaining are divas, it’s literally a hostel and a good one at that

  • 5/5 Nelson B. 1 year ago on Google
Pretty fair for a hostel. Very friendly staff, clean rooms. If you want comfort, book a hotel; this one is for short stays when you’re on a budget.

  • 3/5 Luisa L. 2 years ago on Google
If you just want a place of passage as was our case, it is a good value for money, the cleanliness can obviously be improved. The shared dining room with the reception was not very comfortable but I repeat going through it is fine

  • 2/5 J G. 1 year ago on Google
Not as bad as I thought it would be but it is pretty ordinary for the price they are asking, fairly noisy street at night, the steps are incredibly steep,be careful if you have been out drinking, tram stops just about out front

Worst hostel I've ever been to. The bathroom was si small muy knees would hit the door evrytime I sat down. The shower Is a disaster. It's a very uncomfotable place. Never again.

1 star for an excellent location. Close to transport and shops. 1 star for friendly and helpful staff. Other than that, not highly recommended if you want comfort. Stairs are very steep, rooms are very small. No strict rules. Not so good experience.

From the moment you come in the reception you can see how clean it is here. And when you go to your room you notice that it’s really clean. The showers are good equipped, the water from the showers it’s how it supposed to be, you really think that you are in a hotel, not in a hostel. Congratulations, your hospitality is very good!

I never recommend this Hostel. It is very dirty and the toilet was shared and it was clocked and I asked reception and they asked us to another floor and it was also clocked. The stairs are very narrow and not easy to go up. No elevator. No facility in the room. No parking and parkings around it are very costly.

Great cooperation! The workers are very pleasant and correct, I had no problems considering that I shared a room with a couple of people, Meticulous, Clean, Simple, safe... here are a few words that describe this hotel.
