This
hotel
obviously
caters
to
the
budget
traveller,
housing
expat
workers
and
groups
of
city
hoppers,
the
rooms
are
incredibly
sparse,
there's
a
bed
(a
bit
saggy
mattress
alas),
a
coat
rack
(a
pole
with
six
hangers),
a
bathroom
(spiffy
clean)
and
that's
pretty
much
it.
I
was
a
little
taken
aback
given
the
room
rate,
close
to
100
EUR
per
night
with
breakfast,
but
on
the
other
hand
such
are
the
prices
now.
The
room
I
was
given
was
clean,
bathroom
as
well,
gratuit
shampoos
(however
no
hand
soap),
there
are
a
couple
of
plastic
seats
one
can
use
as
an
ersatz
night
table
and
luggage
stand.
The
TV
is
small
and
affixed
near
the
ceiling,
only
shows
some
cable
channels,
doesn't
support
streaming,
also
it's
located
high
enough
to
make
connecting
a
Chromecast
or
Fire
stick
a
challenge.
No
closet
(!),
I
repeat:
no
closet,
so
no
place
to
store
shirts,
underwear,
socks,
all
that,
also
no
safe.
Okay,
there
is
in
fact
a
closet,
or
something
that
looks
like
it,
however,
surprise,
it
houses
the
extra
bed
allowing
for
three
people
to
occupy
the
room.
Living
and
travelling
light
is
the
adagio.
The
staff
was
friendly
enough,
business
like
but
trying
to
help
where
possible.
The
lobby
has
a
small
catering
facility,
providing
water,
soft
drinks,
beer,
wine,
crisps,
cup
noodles
and
the
like,
however
at
hefty
prices
(small
can
of
coke
3.50,
a
small
beer
5.50).
It
pays
to
visit
the
local
supermarket
down
the
road
(there's
two
of
them
just
500m
down
the
road,
also
one
can
find
a
couple
of
restaurants
and
assorted
shops
at
the
Kostverlorenhof).
The
breakfast
lounge
features
a
set
of
three
large
microwaves
for
heating
one's
own
concoctions!
Nice
facility.
Makes
kind
of
sense
to
buy
ready
meals
in
the
super
and
hest
them
up
on
site.
Evenings
it's
a
coming
and
going
of
regulars,
obviously.
Location
wise
the
Ibis
budget
sits
within
a
nice
distance
of
Amsterdam
center,
a
small
hop
by
tram
to
South
station,
if
you
take
tram
number
5
it
will
take
you
all
the
way
to
Museumplein,
Leidseplein
and
Central
Station,
half
an
hour
tops.
All
in
all
I
still
think
the
price
setting
is
a
bit
over
the
top,
but
the
hotel
does
fulfill
its
function,
providing
a
place
to
sleep
and
use
as
a
base
from
which
to
work
or
explore
Amsterdam.
