Terrible experience! It seems like the hotel was trying to scam us or something. I wanted to fly to Amsterdam on easter weekend. Knowing that the prices would be very high, I booked a room at this hotel many months in advance for a total of 366€. Shortly before the stay the hotel cancelled the reservation, claiming my credit card could not be authorized twice. This seemed weird to me since the limit of my credit card wasn't nearly exhausted. I immediately called the hotel and asked the staff to repeat the authorization and provided two additional credit cards. Jelena from reception told me that the hotel was overbooked for that weekend and first tried to get us booked into their sister hotel closeby but after that didn't work she then assured me that our reservation would be kept in the system. It seemed very weird to me that coincidentally the weekend the hotel was overbooked my credit card was denied for the first time ever. So I called the credit card company and they told me that no such authorization was issued, leading me to believe that the problem might be hotels system. So I called the hotel again and talked to Sujip, who first claimed that the authorization was denied once than he changed his mind saying it was 4 times and then said he wasn't able to find Jelena's reservation in the system so he is not able to tell me which of my credit cards was denied, how often that happened and if there even is a room for us. He told me to call again at 10am the next day, so I could speak with the manager. When I called the next day the receptionist told me that I can not speak to the manager because even though it was his shift, he is never around and so won't be able to call me back. Very weird. Then the receptionist told me he could reinstate my reservation but it would cost 1005€ because the rate went up. This is just rude considering they had no reason to cancel the initial reservation in the first place. Finally I just booked a different hotel, which unfortunately is more expensive than the initial rate, however as expencted the credit card works just fine. Which leads me to believe that all of this was just a ruse to get more money. In any case the employees were extremely unprofessional and very rude.

Such a disappointment. We'd made a reservation for one night but when we came to check in, the hotel seemed to have forgotten to cancel our reservation. They were closed. We barely got any explanation, let alone an apology. The employee on the phone couldn't find our booking details nor did he seem to have a grasp of my friend's last name. She had to tell him her last name only sixteen or seventeen times. The employee at first insisted that we had canceled our visit but then changed the story in which they had called us to cancel. All of which not true and of course, no apology whatsoever. This was three weeks ago and my friend just now got her money back. Again without any apologies. Honestly, the worst treatment of any hotel I've seen so far. 0/10 would recommend.

Had a bit of a hard time with the steep stairs which go to the excellent service. They realized we weren't young kids to be able to go up and down more stairs so they gave us a room up on the first floor and helped with luggage. The breakfast was okay but I don't think it was worth the 8 euros. I still would recommend

Lovely interior design. Not sure if I forgot to mention that I prefer 2 single beds. Not one double bed. Probably my fault. Reception pay attention to details. Very helpful and polite. Dining room excellent with coffee maker and opportunity to buy fruit to buy cake or pay extra for breakfast. Unfortunately no lift. Even to 5 th floor. Need to be fit to carry luggage. Garden provided for smokers. Lovely TV set . Few channels available.. lovely view from window. General feeling of luxury. Good location. Next to National Holocaust Names Monument if you are interested in history

Lots of negative reviews so I was apprehensive. I paid for one of the more expensive rooms and was pleasantly surprised. Spacious enough with a comfy bed and great view out onto the canal. You cannot beat the location. Five minute walk to waterlooplein metro and the tram stop just outside. Two minute walk from the skinny bridge. The walk home to this hotel is simply stunning at night time. Would stay again 100%

What was to be a 3night stay on the 26/2/22 turned into an hour ordeal after we checked in after 3pm. Room was not clean and a major security issue as our bedroom door would not even close! Do not stay!!! Still waiting on a full refund as this was the properties fault for not checking the room properly. Very poor service.

Nice quaint hotel close to the city center. Rooms are not too spacious, but clean and comfortable. I'm sure nobody is coming to Amsterdam just to stay in the room anyway. Staff is very friendly. Parking is limited, but a garage is only an 8 minute walk away. Would definitely stay again on another visit to Amsterdam.

Well located but far too expensive for what it offers. Very small room that looks like a corridor, door not closing well, cracks on the floor, bathroom tiny with missing and broken tiles with humidity and moisture, old carpet and difficult stairs. And I could hear my neighbour alarm clock ringing! I don’t recommend. Can find better and cheaper

If I could select zero stars for this hotel I would. 1 star is really too flattering. Looking at the other reviews it seems my shocking experience is not unique at all and a number of guests had the same and worse experience that I had. Imagine your surprise arriving at the hotel and you are simply told your reservation has been cancelled due to an apparant credit card issue. The hotel manager was completely unappologetic and told me I provided a fake credit card for the booking. Imagine my outrage first at not having been informed that my booking has been cancelled. Secondly that I had nowhere else to stay and thirdly being called a credit card fraud scammer. The hubris and arrogance of this manager and the rest of the staff is completely appaling saying that he refused to talk to me any further. Through my travel agent I managed to get accommodation right around the corner 260m away from the horrific Hermitage at the refreshingly wonderful Zoku hotel. Please do yourself a favour and book there in the first place. What a fantastic hotel and service! If you consider accommodation in Amsterdam, don’t book at the Hermitage and rather go to the Zoku for a fantastic experience.

Nice hotel to stay in. The staff was nice and helpful. The rooms are basic. But that's k for the price you are paying. The location is very good you can walk to the city centre.

Room was small, but comfortable, slept well despite that gurgling radiator and heating system, and metallic smell from the drain. May be unique to my room but lighter sleepers would struggle. Nb. Stairs are NOT suitable for people who are not firm of foot. Very steep, tight spirals.

Spend the night here with a couple of friends after visiting the piano concert at the Scheepsvaartmuseum. Clean rooms, ideally located in the center, but away from the hustle. Friendly staff and fair price. Would recommend this. Beware there is no elevator and hotel might therefore not be suitable for less abled.

I think that was the worst experience I ever had! They give me a, let's say, "room" on the 5th floor! There was no elevator, and the stairs were in a spiral all the way up, so if you had more than three beers, good luck going up to the 5th floor. The reception lady was really nice, and she gave me the key four hours early. The room itself was really bad. There was no heating, the main light was not working, and it was really cold. Defenely, I will not go there!

It’s a lovely experience in a traditional crooked house hotel. Only downside is your experience is highly dependent on the room you get. Luckily we were upgraded to a larger room which was beautiful. Lovely view of the canal though that comes at the sacrifice of a room with a bit of space. Very close to city Center though I must say.

The hotel is not very far from the city center, but you have to walk 10 minutes, it doesn't matter, the hotel is a disaster, old building, the stairs squeak like crazy, you can hear your neighbors and the rooms are filthy! but also really dirt see photo. We were promised 3 single beds in the room, but we got a double bed and a couch with a mattress right by the window. the beds are broken and squeaking and underneath everything is very filthy and dirty hygiene is zero! The bathroom is full of mold. It was the purest catastrophe so once and never again 250€ for a night in such a hotel. it feels like i paid so much money just to stay one night in the haunted house! dear people listen to me and keep your hands off it you will regret it 100%. never again!!!

There is no elevator in hotel, rooms are little bit small if you are a huge guy. But nonetheless it's a good place to stay if you gonna use just for sleeping

Its cheap for the city, small and a little cramped, no elevators to the 5th floor. How ever, if a shower and a bed is all you need with a great view, central, quite location, This is what you'll get.

Great location, room I got was little bit small but clean, the hotel is tidy and quiet.

Location is great, however the hotel is a little dated, but most of all there is quite a lot of noise from outside and from the other rooms.

Tourist trap. I give 2 stars just because of the nice location for the city but all the rest was terrible, do not book. No wifi working (really? No wifi in 2022?), tiny room for 80€ 1 person per night, no cleaning, no towels changing, first night i was freezing because I found the heating off, window not soundproof and not windproof (i literally slept with wind on my face). The bathroom had a nice shower but the sink was impossible to use: small, with a shelf above so that you cannot even wash your face. The corridor was always messy with random unknown stuff. I had to leave 1 night earlier and they refused to refund me the last night, which could have been a nice chance to be sorry for what happened.

HORRIBLE!!! Rooms were a disaster, our bathroom had the tub broken and water was always boiling, water didn't flow through the drain and our toilet didn't flush. Service tried to help us but it's no fault the bathroom was bad. Also, rooms were cold because staff didn't want to leave the heating on when there wasn't people in the hotel. The situation was great, you can take the tram really near and it was quite downtown. Anyways not recommended for everything you pay.

The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood not in the exact Central. This is not so bad. The place was next to the canal and our room had a view of it. But it has no elevator and the time we have visited it we had a knee and a back problem and the stairs was too high and difficult. The room was big enough and the bed mattress good. The bathroom was small and a little difficult. But overall it was a nice stay to remember.

The staff were nice and the location was good. Unfortunately, that was the only positive thing. We had a room on the ground floor and heard every word and every movement of people passing by and the room neighbors one floor above. The rooms were actually relatively clean. One night, however, we woke up from nibble sounds and found several mice at the trash can right next to the bed. Disgusting!

It was perfect for my solo two-night stay, but it's not super convenient. Great location, but no elevator, tight stairs, thin walls.

Cute hotel, very close to the Netherlands Opera metro stop. Short walk from the metro. Very central. No elevator. Room was small but big enough for myself and my luggage and a few other items. Bathroom was clean and modern. TV in the room. Breakfast was optional (7 euros). Housekeeping was prompt. The morning receptionists were very nice. The evening receptionist seemed stressed out and strange.

Not a bad place to stay for a few nights. Quite small with very steep stairs and walls made of paper. Pretty much the same as most independent hotels in the city centre. Friendly staff and reasonably clean. Tasty toothpaste in the vending machine.

The location is great. Next to canal, good view and close to restaurants. It is very small, however. Also the floors were pretty dirty, everything was just swept under the beds. Also found chewing gum under my pillow. And I hope you like stairs, because you're in Amsterdam now.

Myself and my boyfriend stayed here last week, 09/03/2020, for his Birthday. We were very disappointed! We arrived early (11am) and we asked if we could leave our bags until check in while we walked around the city. We were told our room was actually ready so we could go up to it. We put our bags down and planned to freshen up but we went back out straight away due to work being done next door to our room, drilling and hammering, it was all very loud! We went out until 1pm. Arrived back and the work was still going on next door. We went into our room and the wall had caved in! They had knocked it in from next door. My boyfriend went downstairs to report it to the employee at the reception desk. We waited for the employee to come and take a look, he didn't. I went downstairs to ask him to come up. He was talking on his mobile phone when I got there and continued holding the phone to his ear while I asked him to come up to look. When he came upstairs, he still spoke on his phone. He looked at the wall and walked back down to the reception without speaking to myself or my boyfriend about the situation. Myself and my boyfriend packed our bags back up and went back downstairs so the workers could fix the wall. We gave our keys back to reception and asked for a different room, we were told there were no other rooms. I asked when would the work be finished as it was very noisy and we were told it would be finished at 3/4pm. We left the hotel and came back again at 3pm to re-check in. We were given back the keys for the same room. The workers had fixed the wall but hadn't swept up properly. It looked like a lovely hotel when we booked it and it was such a shame as we stayed there for my boyfriends birthday and just wanted a nice night in a nice hotel, this is not what we got at all! I left 3 stars because the location was great and the room was quite nice when the workers had fixed everything. I would have left 1 star for service.
