This hotel should be the last option if you are not getting any budget hotel or hostel. The room is not that good, plus there was no window to close it. The bed size is small for a 6 feet person. The worst thing was the common bathroom near our room. Till night 3 am people were using the shower and all that door banging noise could be easily heard. The bathroom is too small and is not cleaned properly. This hotel should be used only to store your luggage.

The worst and inhospitable hostel in Amsterdam! Even if you have already reserved and paid a shared dorm online, when you arrive on this hostel they provide you surprise-extra costs! They don't accept payments by card and if they finally accept, they request more money and they don't give invoice in every case (black money!). At celebration days, like Halloween e.t.c. they have extra celebration prices (150€ per person, per night, in 21 shared dorm! Thiefs!Uncomfortable, small and overcrowded dorms (21 beds in 1 room!). Dirty bathrooms! Limited hours access on common areas (garden, kitchen, lounge), like a prison! Except for all these horrible things, also, inhospitable staff! Their interest is only to earn money from you without providing the sense of hospitality! They don't accept you to stay whenever you want, but they allow you to stay only for a designated period, ignoring the fact that you are a costumer and you pay their irregular prices! So, my advice is to avoid in every case this hostel-prison! There are many other hostels in Amsterdam with much better conditions and also good budget prices!

4 friends booked 12 beds by mistake because the website books beds while you are just watching them. We booked the beds online once we arrived at the hostel as the price was lower than the one offered by the receptionist, which makes no sense. After booking the 12 rooms by mistake we talked with the receptionist, who talked with his boss and their answer was they couldn't do anything giving excuses. The boss talked to me too, and he was really rude. Their solution : taking 125€ (half of the 12-bed reservation) from the account without permission. Finally, we decided not to sleep in that awful hostel. Please don't come here, it is not worth it, there are better and cheaper options.

I never write hostel's reviews, but this time I had to do it. DON'T GO to this place. There was another person in my bed when I arrived, my sheets were dirty and they didn't give me any towel. I asked for one and they said "we don't give towels, we sell them." Ok, that was 6 extra euros and the towel wasn't new, in fact it was DIRTY. The staff is really rude and you don't feel welcome anytime. When I was in the living room some students came and booked a room right there, and since the price was higher than the website they decided to book through the website right there. There was some kind of problem and they ended up booking two rooms. The owner didn't want to give them their money back for the extra room despite everything happened right in front of him. Worst hostel in the world!

I claim, I have made a reservation from February 24 to 27 at the AnneMarie hostel. on the 24th he called the hostel to say that he could not arrive on the 24th but he could arrive on the 25th in the morning, on Friday at 6:15 am he arrived at the hostel and the receptionist tells us that he has eliminated the reservation, but he Payment was made, I did not request any cancellation. I have been left homeless due to this person's decision to cancel and I have not received a single cancellation email. awful treatment.

I have stayed at a lot of hostles in my life across the globe and this by far has to be the worst one I experienced in my life. The staff were not welcoming on arrival at all and the stay can only be paid for by cash which I am flabbergasted by. Putting this part to one side, we were stunned at how the hostle had organised the rooms. It felt like we were sardines in a tin can. The 21 dorm room were filled to the brim with 3 tier bunk beds which you could hardly sleep on. If this wasn't bad enough, our room which had a capacity of 21 had to share one bathroom/toilet - note these are not separate. You can literally take one step from one end of the bathroom to the other. By the time I got to the kitchen, I had given up all hope on the hostle. I do have to say however that the worktops were tidy/cleared up. The microwave however looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in months. If you are reading this thinking 2.5 stars out of 5 can't be that bad, you would be so wrong. Book only if this is the very last resort. Even then - you may want to rethink about your trip to Amsterdam.

The worst conditions I have ever come across. I do not understand how this place is running. If I could give this 0 stars, I would. It doesn’t even deserve 1 star. My boyfriend and I ( from Australia) checked in on the 31st of July and were planning to stay for 3 nights. We paid cash upfront and were assisted by the staff with a key and directions. (Total amount coming to $306 euros, coming to approximately $512 AUD.) Upon reaching our room, we searched for our bed numbers- only to find other people’s belongings on the beds given to us. Some of the other female guests who were Italian explained that the bed numbers on the hostel card don’t correspond to which bed you sleep in and they were told to choose any free bed too. A staff member came in to assist us with our concerns that someone is sleeping in our specific beds we had paid for. They told us to sleep in another two beds. The state of the room and beds were not to the expectations. The beds we were given to use were also unclean with stains on the bed (see attached picture). When this was brought up with the front desk they gave us blankets for us to change the bedding ourselves. The staff had no idea who was staying in this room and if the beds were in use. This made us feel very unsafe and unclean. I did not feel comfortable staying in a place where the staff didn’t know the guests staying in there and where the bed sheets and room standards were so poor. We immediately spoke to the staff at reception and told them of our concerns. Following this we booked another hotel (for the same price and beautiful private room), last minute and left. Staff told us that management would be able to assist us in receiving a refund (even though we paid in cash?) They replied back with one sentence after chasing them for a week, stating “ Hi, there is bo refund for this booking“ The spelling was not corrected nor was anytime taken to apologise or compensate for the horrible experience we had with them. I have replied to this email, requesting information to why we are not eligible for a refund after the POOR DISGUSTING conditions. Still no response three weeks later. Take it from me, if you want to enjoy your stay in Amsterdam, don’t torture yourself and stay here.

The area around the hostel is nice but this doesn't make up for the conditions of the hostel itself, the staff were uninterested at best and the place itself was very unclean. Too hot at all times, very loud and just generally speaking very uncomfortable. I can't stress how much I did not enjoy my stay at this hostel, I've stayed in other places with the same price range that are far superior. Someone has their laptop stolen during their stay, there is a definite lack of security as well as amenities and/or places for your belongings. I would not recommend or return to this place.

Do not stay here. Its worth an extra 20 euro a night to stay somewhere better Liked · The location was wonderful surrounded by all the great museums. Its close to the RAI and the Centre too with good public transport connections. Disliked · Bed where dirty/stained lucky I didn't have bed bugs as I have seen other reviews list. The staff where passive at best while being rude at other times. They charge 6 euro for the use of a towel and provide no body soap or shampoo in the one bathroom on each floor. (on our floor that was one shower/toilet unit for 21 people. The rooms had no air-conditioning for a 21 person room id consider this unacceptable. They also make you pay in cash or add a mark-up to your booking price if you only want to pay by card. They also force the room key deposit to be paid in cash.

Really disgusting hotel, I recommend you not to sleep in this dirty place. Prices seem to be affordable, but they increase once you pay at the reception. Moreover, the stuff is really rude and helpless.

This hotel is the "get what you pay for lesson", the worst places i have stayed overnight. The state of this place is almost inexcusable, please go elsewhere! 1. front desk guy was rude or uninterested most of the time 2. gave me the wrong bed 3. no lockers 4. was so cold even with blankets 5. there was a big fight in the lobby at around midnight, yelling and punching the walls/door 6. very small room for 12 people 7. nasty bathroom, also very small and no towel 8. kind of stank 9. sheets were stained (probably the origin of the smell) 10. had something stolen from my belongings 11. my bed was fine, but there was a lot of talk about bed bugs from other guests 12. had two charges, what i payed in cash and on the card that i used to book the place, plus a sudden upcharge and random "fees" 13. staff threatened to kick you out or call the police over any issue, even small things The one and ONLY plus is the location, but that is not enough to ever get me to go back. You literally cannot pay me to spend another night in this prision

“Kitchen” only has a fridge, super dirty microwave and a kettle. 2 bowls. Wet cat foot in the middle of the floor ?? 2 forks. No plates. wifi doesn’t reach upper floors, no room for your stuff in the rooms, like no under the bed cages for your bag or anything. Our door legit didn’t lock. They do have triple bunk beds which are properly secured to the walls which are fun to me ! It’s worth the money during the week (unless you want to cook) but weekend prices are crazy, not worth.

  • 1/5 Dylan R. 2 years ago on Google
Yeah, so this guy just keep my 10€ for the deposit cause I left my backpack on the floor of the room during the cleaning, cause the checkout is "at 10am, not at 10:13am". He did that to 3 other guys I know, within 5 minutes, so who know ? But he takes your money with a smile so I gave him 1 star.

Unacceptable !! I booked a room a month ago, and without any notification, no emails nor calls, they cancelled my reservation. I had to pay 3 times the initial price, for another room. Looks like abusive scam to me!! 🤬🤬

I understand that this Hostel is one of the cheapest options to be found in Amsterdam. Therefore I never expected much, just a basic and safe place to sleep. Nonetheless I found it outrageous that a place that still charged 80€ for us two people, feels no need to give a decent appeal. It was simply DIRTY, basically beginning from the front door. The floor including the stairs seemed not to have been cleaned or even vacuumed for at least days, more probably weeks. The beds were okay but there was only one bedsheet, nothing to cover the blankets that did not seem so trustworthy. There were stains on the mirror, the window, the walls. Just because you can offer a lower price than other places in this expensive city, you should not forget that people, even "poor travellers", still care about basic cleanness. Ah, I forgot to mention the bathrooms, of which I think there were three in the whole hostel. Obviously the floor was just disgusting, there was no toilet paper provided, the toilet had not been cleaned in a while. I will warn anyone I can about this "hostel" and regret to have paid that price for it.

Where to start..... We arrived at the Hostel around 20.00 and it took up to 22.00 to check in. We did not book the most wonderful room they had, but we could not have expected such treatment. We found a 12 bed dormitory with a tiny bathroom that was barely any good for 1 person. There were other bathrooms better than the one in the room, but also very small and a bit dirty. The room was dirty and the bed-sheets were not properly cleaned. I was lucky to find a tomato pedicel in the bedsheets! :) We found hair everywhere and a super dirty toilet and shower... it was simply unexplainably dirty. Disregarding the hostel, Amsterdam was amazing! Please check in advance your hostel and if you want to have a pleasant stay, DO NOT BOOK THIS HOSTEL! Pay 10-20 EUR extra per night and get something worth. The receptionist was slow, unstructured, without a concept on how to work in a reception and he did not even care. Simply useless! Also very important: If you pay by card you need to pay 5% extra and if you pay with cash you may not get an invoice.

Last ditch resort if running on a low budget. We had booked 2 beds in a 21 bed room at the hostel, running on a low budget so my expectations were not that high. We arrived at the hostel around midday, there was one poor worker at the front desk trying to check everyone in, and it took quite some time. The beds reserved for us were taken, and there was some confusion as to where to put us. The beds in question are triple bunk beds. The room is far too small to hold 21 people, and it is very sweaty, humid and hot at night as there is no climate control. We asked if there was anywhere to put our belongings and we were shown to a small wooden shed outside, which is locked. I have no problem with this, but to get your belongings again, you need to go to the reception so they can unlock it. This means potentially waiting a long time, especially if there are people checking in. The receptionist was also quite grumpy when we asked to get our things, so from then on we left the bags in our room and took any valuables with us. A friend of ours who booked the hostel for the same nights paid in advance by card in full, but when we arrived he was told that was just to secure his bed and that he had to pay the FULL amount in cash. Keep in mind the original full amount had been deducted from his account already! He was eventually refunded, but this information regarding payment was not clearly communicated when he was making his booking. For my friend and I booking the 2 beds, we had the option to pay at the hostel, which we did. The beds were comfortable enough for the price, but don't expect quality sleep. Make sure to bring ear plugs and an eye mask and pick the middle bunks if you can, the top bunks are difficult to get into at night in the dark, but the bottom ones will be the most exposed to noise. There was 1 bathroom with toilet and shower on our floor to share between 21 people. I am not sure if this is standard for a hostel but it seem far too few. The shower was very small and the drainage was poor. I did not use the kitchen area so cannot make an informed comment on those facilities. Overall, do not stay here unless it is the only hostel in your budget range. Even then, definetly don't book the 21 bed room unless you are used to dealing with these kinds of conditions.

One of the worst Hostels I Stayed in out of all of Europe the staff were rude! There's only one shower and bathroom on each floor and each floor had about 5 rooms with 10-15 beds each! They are strict about waiting in the lobby and they close the kitchen at 10pm and the guy working there literally went psycho on me just because I went in to get my water! The stairs going upstairs is super narrow, the bathroom are tiny and the storage room is outside in a shed! The worst hostel ever and I paid $30 usd a night for almost 2 weeks! Don't waste your time or money on this place it might be in a decent area but Not worth the headache! The staff are EXTREMELY RUDE Especially the crack head one that works at night.

They withdrew 15 euros afther an hour I left. Rather, they robbed me of 15 euros, even on the day of check-in they forced me to pay 5% more due to payment by card. Even after that, they gave the key where there was no clean place to lie down. Living conditions are incredibly terrible, I have never seen anything like it. Everything is so terrible that you can already feel the stench. It looks more like a community room for drug addicts and the homeless than for people. I am generally silent about the bathroom.

I stayed in this hostel with my three of friends. The area around the hostel was nice but hostel rooms, washrooms and the other area was so bad and smells bad. Staff of hostel seems uninterested while talking to customer. We didn't enjoy our stay at this place. They also don't accept payment by card, it is also a big problem. I suggest to future comers don't stay there and spoil your trip.

For a really short Stay Its good! I should have waited 13 hours at Shipman Airport Amsterdam. So you just go outside, take Bus 397 to „Concertgebouw“ (~30 min, you can buy ticket for 6,50€ with card in the bus at the driver). From there it’s like 1 min to walk. So the hostel is chaotic and I would not recommend for a longer trip but the staff was friendly and for me it was worth it to drive there, even if I just had 5 hours of sleep. I think it’s better to drive there and pay that (instead of waiting many hours in the airport). I would recommend this option if you have to wait a long time at the airport (like 10 hours or more) and if you don’t want to spend too much money for a hotel.

Disgusting hostel. The staff kicked us out because one guy in the rome was smoking. They said we need to go out and that they wil call the police. The reception guy was yelling at us but we did nothing wrong. We paid and didn't get our money back. It was a total scam. Worst experience ever.

Bring your own towel and soap. Rooms aren't the warmest. The bunk beds are almost exactly 180 cm long, so if you're tall they'll be just a little bit short. Shower is quite small but functional. Very quiet. Has a fridge and a microwave, and the 24 h check in us friendly and helpful. It's a budget hostel with a great location and it's right next to a supermarket. You get what you pay for: a place to rest your head.

Don’t stay here. Three boys immediately infront of me were complaining about bed bugs being visible in the sheets! The staff would only move them to a different room, and would not refund their booking. The rooms are dark, and the bathrooms are dirty. There are no private lockers available. The place feels unsafe.

Even for "just" about ~50€ per night this was still a rip-off - the staff is disinterested if it's not about money, we couldn't cancel the room for even the second night after one of us couldn't make it, there are 1-2 toilets PER FLOOR with 140+ total guests, the beds are too small and have a metal frame making it impossible for people over 1.80m in size to get comfortable rest, the bathrooms and sinks are tiny, no table or locker or wardrobe one could properly close or anything, just take your money and phone with you and hope your roommates aren'tinterested in your clothes etc. The kitchen is closed off at night in case you wanted to reheat some leftovers after a day in the city. The toilet on our floor was clogged from the get-go and the receptionist first didn't believe me, then didn't care. We stayed for two nights, barely spent time in the motel, had zero expectations and it still sucked - museum restrooms are much more spacious, sanitary and less busy than the ones offered in this hole. But yeah, the location is nice. (:

The rooms are gross, I don’t think the floors ever been washed. Same as the bed sheets. There was stains all over the beds, the beds wouldn’t fit a 5 year old in they are so small. I cannot express this enough. DO NOT book here even if it is the last option We had no option other than to book this place however would’ve rather of slept on the street. We paid for 5 nights in panic we would be on the street as our other place over booked. We should not have paid for 5 nights we left after the first night because it was so horrible. Dirty, smelly, unclean and loud

wish i could give 0 stars. don’t stay here, trust the other bad reviews & stay away!!! we only managed 1 of 5 nights and had to find a new place to stay so we could actually get some sleep and not be worried about dirty beds, our safety & our belongings. not a great start to our holiday. the 0 refund policy is also unreasonable and outdated. 😖 - photos/description on booking site outdated - no AC/windows closed - no curtains or privacy measures in rooms - generally dirty (mold in bathrooms, stained sheets) - 0 refund policy, couldn’t get any money back after seeing the condition of the hostel - wifi barely worked, very limited outlets in rooms - no actual storage lockers/safe bag storage despite being told by one staff member over the phone that there would be some available for our use. the next staff member we spoke to said we could lock items in the “staff sleeping quarters” and then the morning staff said no to this, but that we could put them in a literal SHED outside?? please avoid if you know what’s good for ya😭🤍 ** plus, you have to pay an extra 5% per night if paying by card.

Terrible hostel. First, we got in and have been told (only in the reception) that if we want to pay by card we would have to pay 5% extra, to motivate people to pay in cash and, probably, escape the taxes. Secondly, they tell us - AGAIN, just at reception, since in the website the information is contradictory - that they DO NOT have lockers where you can keep your stuff. So, they expect you to either leave your stuff in the rooms (that everybody can access basically - our room was on the ground floor with a door to a terrace that you can enter by the kitchen, which means you do not need the key of the room to enter there… i personally entered always through there with no problem), or at reception, paying 3€ per bag (per day i imagine), with no security whatsoever - many times the main door was open and no one was at the reception… and the bags were freely there. I literally went there and took my bag when i needed it and no one said anything. They only have a safe to keep important stuff like phones, ID cards, etc. Then, our room. We entered and everything was disgusting: the floors weren’t cleaned for ages, the bedsheets were USED, trash on the floor, etc. and… we literally did not have beds to sleep in. So, we went to the reception and apparently they did an error (overbooked the room) and moved us to another room (way better!) - this being unapologetic about it btw. The next day we return to the hostel at midday to have lunch, we go to our “new room” and the beds are freshly made… we go to reception to be sure that they didn’t to any error again, and they tell us “ah yes a group is going to that room, you have to leave”… so basically they didn’t tell us anything about it, and we were going to leave all our stuff in the group while other people were going there - which is bad both for us and for the other room, that has stuff from other people in their space. So, we returned to the first room, all dirty, again, but at least with beds we could sleep in (and new sheets, although stained). Me and my friends DO NOT recommend this hostel at all. They have no conditions, the staff (literally 3 people for 4 floors) is lowkey rude, it is always dirty (the bathrooms, i have to say, are cleaned everyday, and they have products so people can also clean if they want to), they are very disorganised with the rooms and careless about people’s personal belongings - which, for many of us, is all we have (me and my friends are doing interrail for instance, so if we lose our bags we do not have anything else for 1 month). We put our stuff in a paid locker near the hostel, and in the other days we left it in the room, kinda hoping that everything would be alright (it was thankfully). Lastly, they have this listing of rules on the entrance that make NO sense and are rudely written. Of course they can have their house rules, but this ain’t it. The only positive sides is the location (near the museum quarter), and the free coffee they give in the morning. But please don’t stay here; i’m sure you’ll find better places for this price (not cheap!). I’m usually a careless person, so please read this knowing that i’m not exaggerating. If this hostel had lockers and a clearer organisation they’d benefit so much… it’s a shame that a hostel in this area is so badly ran :/

Staff is nice, but that’s about it. The place is filthy, only 3 bathrooms for all the “hostel” which is more like an old house. Bathrooms are really small with the shower and toilet in the same place so it gets all wet. There are cats wandering through the hostel. Rooms are for like 20 people and if you are unlucky enough to get the ground floor room all the tobacco smoke will get to your room. It is the cheapest in Amsterdam but definitely not worth the price. Don’t come here

Without a doubt, the worst hostel I’ve ever stayed in. The sheets were stained and had (what I think was) blood on them. The front desk staff didn’t do anything about it. Bed came without a pillow or an electrical outlet. 21 people shared a single bathroom. General cleanliness was abysmal, floors were sticky with spilled alcohol and the placed reeked on weed. No place to lock up your bags. You just had to leave them out in the middle of the room. DO NOT STAY HERE.

The staff are very awful, their efforts are to put guests in pain. They are simply denying entry into the hostel and forcing to take private rooms at accelerated price. They lie that they don't have card pos machines, and they will only accept cash. While the reservation slip and the property in booking website clearly mentioned about card payment options. Later they accept the card with reluctant face, and will charge a penalty fee without any receipt. And they admit, that their boss has instructed them to say so.

There are no lockers in the rooms. The beds are too small and the sheets are dirty. There is no communal space. Neglected, unhealthy cats roam around. My worst backpacking experience yet.

Vey disappointing hostel. The only positive thing was the fact it was really close to the center. But be careful, because they make you pay more than you confirmed. Also the bathrooms were too small and the staff not very friendy. Wouldn't recommend.

I wouldn't recommend staying in this hostel because, apart from the fact that it looks like a drug den, you have to pay cash + tourist tax and leave a deposit for the keys. The rooms look like you'd rather sleep in a train station. You will be charged for everything, but even when you get to the ground floor - you will realise that it is better not to sleep there. See the XO Hotel, which is about the same price.

Everyone posting below 3stars are idiots. Cheap, friendly staff, safe, has a cat, what more could you want. Cash only, pay in person will be cheaper than booking online. If you are a taller then 6'1 you won't fit on the beds.

They invented new, exponential costs for our reservation. This does not happens in other hostels. Filthy. Uncomfortable. Crowded and unsafe. Try to avoid it

Reception was okay. The rooms quite small. The toilets were the worst and not cleaned. The bed was not comfortable. Long and sharp stairs with no elevator. They were offering free coffee in the morning. Wifi was decent.

The hostel is as basic as you can think of an old hostel. No towels, no elevator, one bathroom for many people, dorms with no security locker. At night you can hear the noise from other rooms. Good location.

Some (hostels) are better than others. This one is best if you keep expectations low. So, be patient at check in. Then get in get some rest and leave.! Make sure your key has a number on it. Expect up to 3 long narrow steep flights of stairs. Get bed number as well. open 24/7 its bus 397 (by B17) from Scipol get off at concert gebow. 3.7 euro by credit card on the bus. hope this helps.

I regret that I have to give at least one star. The only positives I can give for this hostel are that it has beds, a roof and some cute cats running around. It is cramped, dirty, and if I'd not been stuck I'd not have stayed here due to the other (accurate) reviews. The toilet was blocked on our floor, we informed reception. His reaction was essentially "there are toilets on other floors, why are you bothering me". Wouldn't stay here again as I don't hate myself that much. Pay extra if you can and go somewhere else. If you need somewhere cheaper than elsewhere just to spend the night... Have fun, I guess.

You get what you paid for. The beds were ok, communication with the staff was good. I didn’t have any problems with cleanliness. When you’re on vacation, you don’t need mutch more than someplace to sleep. This place provides that

The staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. The room was incredibly hot. You can't smoke or drink even in the garden. I'd recommend paying a bit more to stay somewhere better.

I made a reservation on their website (for December) and as it says there they only accept cash at the arrival. I had to enter my credit card for a guarantee. There wasn't any information about a deposit or anything like that or any price on the website. 1-2 hours after the reservation I got a notification from my bank that the transaction was made (not successful, because there wasn't any money on the credit card), they tried to take some money without any prior notifying. Today I got an email that they canceled my reservation stating that the reason is credit card not working. When I told them that there is nothing stated about the credit card and that I thought that only cash is acceptable I didn't get any explanation nor answer.

Lack of electrick sockets (less than 1 socket per bed and no sockets in the common room.. oh, really?? ). Other issue is really small beds (if u are taller than 185cm, you've got a big problem). Toilets have no light switch, instead they have sensors, but they don't work, so the toilette vent is running nonstop. Yeaah, sounds nice, huh??.. (: On the other hand, in the morning you can get coffee and tea for free and that is nice:) Beds aren't that big, but they are very well installed so they don't squeak. Biggest advantage of this place is the black cat in the common area, that you can cuddle until you forget about everything above.:)

Horrible service and bed bugs were present. I hope they will improve on cleaning and service. They also need a refurnishing. You can get better everything just a 300 m walk away. Way too expensive.
