The hotel was insanely expensive for what we got. The location is the one great thing about the place with great views and the tram right in front of it. The downside was that we couldn’t close the windows properly and it was very noisy. We shared a room with three people in total. It was quite difficult to get up the stairs with the suitcases. Then the beds had some stains and hairs on them and didn’t seem too clean unfortunately. Furthermore there were no curtains or anything which is why we woke up quite early since it was super bright. Furthermore the receptionist knocked on our door at 5.20 in the morning saying there were some “problems around the hotel” and he wanted to check on us. While this was probably meant nicely it did really scare us and made us feel a bit unsafe. Another issue is that you have to leave your keys with them which doesn’t feel right somehow. I would not recommend staying here for the price(we paid 450€ a night!)Maybe if it’s just one night but not longer.

Bad stay in the hotel. Our room for 3 people was infested with bed bugs. We have more than 100 bites. This spoiled our stay and our return as we had to take precautions not to bring back bed bugs. After a complicated negotiation with the hotel and Booking, we were able to get another room where a friend of mine was forced to sleep in a mattress on the floor. We also learned at the end of the stay that the hotel was aware of the bed bugs. I find it unacceptable to make a room available in these conditions. The refund of the first night that was agreed during the negotiation was done 3 weeks after our return. Not to mention that the rooms are very poorly insulated, we can hear people talking in the corridors. I find the price excessive compared to the services offered. I do not recommend this hotel.

Please listen to the reviews! The hotel is in pretty rough shape - the bath stinks, there are weird stains on the curtains and walls and the whole principle of leaving your keys in the hotel when going out is simply strange. Don’t recommend for the price! The only good thing is the location. If you want good value for your money I would look elsewhere.

I realize that it is a 2-star Hotel, regardless the standards for Amsterdam are inferior!!! The room was very small with 2 tiny beds. The bathroom was half finished with some wires hanging from an outlet. NO AIR CONDITIONING !!! HOT! Hot! Hot! The carpet was stained, dated, and dirty! It was a noisy place!!! The entrance door downstairs was super loud and people were rolling in throughout the night, slamming the door, screaming, talking loudly. We barely were able to sleep!!! Stay away from this place! It is worth to spend the extra money and stay in a comfortable place! Our Amsterdam experience was ruined because of Hotel Plantage. We would have left after the first night but they charge ahead of time and have ZERO refund policy!!! What a sham!!! It is truly a shady place!!!! We would NEVER EVER stay here again!!! I have been traveling for the past 35 years, and I can count very few places that could compare in “shitiness” with this overrated piece of you know what!!!

ALERT!! This place is a disgrace. Rooms don’t meet the minimum conditions to be used. This place should be CLOSED. I did not find even a good thing about this place, tiny walls so the place is really noisy(impossible to sleep), bathroom stinks and it’s impossible to be there, stains, rusty radiators, hotel entrance is filthy, it is an endless list. Dutch authorities should be investigate this place, as doesn’t meet the minimum hygienic standards to be open.

Very good hotel. Spacious, clean and tidy. Staffs were very friendly.

Disgraceful people with no sense of decency. I booked and requested cancellation within half hour of booking as I noticed many negative reviews about hygiene - including BED BUGS, mold, urine smell, horrible stains on carpet / walls / curtain. As I had kidney transplant and I'm on medication that suppresses my immune system, I'd rather not risk staying in an unhygienic place that's not cleaned or maintained properly, and end up in hospital abroad...I asked nicely a number of times and they refused due to their policy. Clearly they are desperate for business as no one wants to go into their rotten infested dump they call a hotel

Location isn't bad, but that's the only good thing about it. Entrance is a single door and risky narrow stairs with little room to move your luggages up. No lifts!!Though the reception girl Gabriela was very helpful but that doesn't make up the situation. Rooms are of very low quality - clean but very awkwardly and inconveniently designed. Overall, I regret booking this hotel for our short stay at Amsterdam.

Loved the staff and the hospitality, however we were bitten with bed bugs on the first night. Hotel courteously upgraded us to a bigger, better room and took care of our luggage, but the second room was not completely rid of the bugs either. It's unfortunate I have to give a low rating, specially since they did all they could for us.

The hotel is nice and the place is cool just in front of the Tram Station Artis. Just maybe the smell in the bathroom and the fire alarm on 2 am wasn't that nice. Everything else cool!

Nothing particularly wrong with this 2 stars hotel, the room and the stairs were clean, the staff is kind and overhaul it's very good for the price compared to other hotels of the area. It's perfect for a one-night trip to Amsterdam as it's also near to the city center, it only takes about a 10 minutes walk.

I do not recommend this hotel at all. We stayed in a room infested with bedbugs. In one night I was bitten more than 60 times, I developed allergies. It's impossible that the hotel didn't know about this, so they deliberately gave us a dilapidated room. This is irresponsible! I had a horrible weekend and now I have to clean up all my stuff and hope I don't take any bedbugs at home with me, very stressful situation. Also, we had to negotiate to get another room and we were only refunded one night out of two.

Honestly the worst hotel i ever stayed in. Staff are very rude, they manipulate the price, refuse to clean the room and provide clean towels, no shampoo and bedsheets had a blood spots on one of them. We found some sucks in the room after check in, meaning they didnt even clean the room before we check in!!!! Will never go there again.

THEY ARE STEALERS AND SCAMMERS. If you want to one, stay in a jail cell. It’s the perfect place. Two, want your suitcases raided and money stolen… this is the perfect place for you. My room was right next to the front desk. Pretty awkward and when I left my room. I came back and a lot of money was stolen from my suitcase. It was in a hidden compartment. They are professional thieves. Horrible place. MANAGEMENT NEVER RESPONDED TO MY EMAILS OR RETURNED MY CALLS.

Not a pleasant experience. There is a lot you wouldn’t like so better to look for a room elsewhere. I was on a long trip and stayed in around 10 hotels. This was the only one where they made me pay for late check-out, and I wasn’t late even half an hour. It’s not about the money, it’s about the attitude. In other hotels several times it happened I was late more than an hour but nobody did that.

Cleanliness is an issue. Beds & toilet facilities were clean. But the rest of the room not so much, floor very dusty. Have to request for room to be tidied. And for towel replenishment. Overall valur for money is good. Very friendly service. Location is spot on.

Horrible reception. I was first time afraid in the reception. receptionist is never there and it looks dirty and strange. Rooms are actually nice but after reception experience you don’t feel neither safe neither clean. Also they will make you pay for even extra minute. That’s written in the reception too. Staff is rude, unfriendly and untrusting.

I stayed in room 17 with my son this week. The room was Clean and the bathroom, although is small it s ok for a short stay. The staff very good, Paniam in the mornings and the fellow who stays late at night were really helpful and nice. The location is fabulous, only 15 minutes to the city center and central station and the tram is at 2 minutes walk. The area is quiet and full of bars, restaurants, etc. I recommend it. Very good for the price.

Overall ok but a bit dirty, the bathroom was leaking a little bit of water. Also warning as of writing this there is a construction side around the premises.

It was okay considering we booked last minute, wanted somewhere relatively cheap to stay and close to the town centre. We paid €218 for 2 nights for 2 people. It's not a pretty or very clean hotel. There was a bit of mould on the walls near the bed and little bugs around holes in the wooden beams. We were on the top floor, so had to walk 3 floors up a very tight and unsafe staircase. The bathroom was extremely tight as we were in the loft. There was no kettle to make tea, there was a nespresso machine but all the coffee pods were already used. I wouldn't necessarily want to go back. Staff were grumpy when we came in at night but the next day they were okaish.

Please for yourself do not stay here! Stayed here a couple years ago. Found blood streaks and stains on the sheets. Bed bugs jumping off of us. Tried to go on the internet to find a new hotel and kept getting kicked off. Toilet did not totally flush. My aunt got cut on their dirty jagged garbage can. Terrible smells. Very steep staircase, unsafe to maneuver on. Staff was creepy and unhelpful. Absolutely horrible experience. Highly unrecommended.

Went to Amsterdam for the first time ever last week. The location of the hotel okay takes 15 minutes to walk to the town. However I’ve been riddled in bites as you have bed bugs. For the past few days I’ve been in nothing but discomfort and agony because of this. The coffee machine didn’t work and the room smells. over priced for the quality of the hotel! Definitely needs renovating and stripping! Disgusting

This is a pigsty. We stayed in the basement rooms and it was full of spiders, slugs and other bugs in the room. It smells like humidity and the cleanliness of the room in general is very poor. Extremely overpriced for what is offered.

Huge smell of drugs inside hotel. Rooms are not reachable by old or disabled people. Everything is very old and looks as used for at least 20 years. You can only go to the toilet by bending over. Who gave stars to this hotel???? The only location is good. I do not recommend this hotel!

😐 It is a large, somewhat impersonal, completely unshaded and extremely noisy campsite (we were in the tented section).Noisy because there is a large multi-lane bridge nearby, which is still very busy at night. Also noisy because of the "cigarette smokers". There are no rules and regulations - or if t...
