I would describe this place as Asian tapas place! I love their concept and the food. First time trying the one in De Pijp and I love the atmosphere here too. The staff is great! They are always very friendly. They have nice and small portions to share. The sushi plates, bao buns and squid are always my favorites! My recent favorite is also the dessert with matcha cream. Definitely a unique taste..

The Japanese restaurant has an original concept. It is a kind of “Japanese Tapas bar”. It is based on the Japanese izakaya: small bars where workers can relax after a long day at work with beer, sake and finger food. The Japanese are the first Amsterdam izakaya like restaurant in Amsterdam. You order small dishes that you share. The food is simple, fresh and delicious. The prices are conform to the type of restaurant. They are not cheap but not very expensive either. The restaurant has an informal setting with long wooden tables to sit with other guests. There are also some high tables for two people. The restaurant is easily accessible by public transport. Tip and tops: The food is delicious and fresh. tops; make sure the menu is also available in Dutch; we still live in the Netherlands and not in NY. Make sure the music fits the type of restaurant, Japanese music and make sure your toilet is always clean and there is toilet paper available.

Very cute space. A bit tight with seating but service was very friendly. Had the sashimi salmon, pork bao, edamame & uramaki & cocktails. Only comment was that I thought the spicy tuna uramaki would be raw tuna but it was a cooked mixture which I wasn't a fan of. The rest was great!

Had an incredible chefs tasting menu for $40 which was essentially the entire menu, and left feeling very full (with just enough room for a scoop of gelato). My husband and I though all the dishes were delicious, but the true standout was the eggplant with miso. That dish cannot be missed. Their homemade beer was also delicious. All the house staff were kind and our server was very amicable and enthusiastic. Would return.

Very nice and almost authentic Izakaya food. Tastes were original and quite delicious the chef's menu is certainly worth the money. Meat and fish all perfectly prepared. Waiters were fun and I will come back for sure. Make sure to make reservations because it is really busy.

Great dinner! Even if they tell you they're fully booked, you have the option to walk in and check. Friendly staff, quick, efficient and smiling. They have a good menu with different Japanese dishes.

We got the Chef's menu, it was superb! Fresh ingredients, balanced flavours, we loved it!

The kitchen closes at 12:30, I reached there at 12:20, ordered the spinach salad 10/10, gyoza beef 10/10, vegetarian gyoza 7/10, squid fries 10/10, chicken katsuya 10/10. Amazing staff very welcoming very accommodating, amazing food, best I had in a while.

Great selection of sake and cocktails. The staff was really helpful in picking out which sake to go with what food we were ordering and they were pretty accurate. The place has great vibes, especially the Akira manga on the wall. Amazing selection of music. 10/10 recommend you visit.

Delicious Asian/Japanese fusion for made for sharing. Great relaxed service. Quite loud when full so more of a party feeling than candle light date night. Good music as well. We ordered almost everything on the menu and everything was yummy.

Outstanding Japanese food with a twist, so many great vegetarian options. Service was soooo great, definitely go for the tasting menu, you will not be disappointed. Fantastic sashimi salmon with ponzu, grilled mushrooms, katsu, brilliant agadashi tofu and more . Great value: chef menu + 2 yuzu cocktails and sake was 130 euros

Great vibes all around! There was plenty of seating at the bar as well as outside, but if you want a table inside, a reservation is the way to go. The drinks and food were delicious, were plated attractively, and were timed well. The edamame was some of the best we’ve had! We shared 5 small plates and one dessert for 2 people and it was the perfect amount. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff! Special shout-out to Herke, who was entertaining and attentive, even as the night got busier.

Husband and I ordered six or seven plates and were blown away by each. Dessert and espresso after the meal was a delight. The servers were prompt and kind (gave us recommendations for breakfast and knocked us out). The music and decor were wonderful. I will definitely return when possible.

I went to de japanner with my girlfriend. Overall my rating is 4 stars. I would give the ambiance 5 stars, typically a modern Asian restaurant in de pijp. The food was good and the kitchen looked very clean. However, the taste was not outstanding and was a bit boring. The different types of beers we're nice! The staff was very kind and worked hard although they forgot several times what we ordered.

Needed late night food - serving until 12:30 - great quality and price. Lovely service. Fun vibe for cocktails and some light food.

The food is really delicious and looks nice. The Restaurant has a big selektion of different small dishes, so that you can order a bit of everything. It is a really good place to go to as a group, because you can share all the dishes. We sat outside and when it got a bit windy the waitress gave us blankets. The people working there are really nice.

Great atmosphere. Culinary food, authentic vibe. Small place but very cozy. We enjoyed the ‘chef’s menu’. A bit pricy - but worth it.
