The Amsterdam vibes, fresh coffee and remarkable breakfast. I love the ambiance of cozy lights, chic sofa and very good food. Great location in the city and large selection of menu. Would love to go back again.

Super cozy restaurant tucked just off of the busy streets. The food was perfect, and the hospitality was warm. I'm so happy we found this spot. They offer bottomless fries that were delicious, but we could bearly finish the first basket. The small steak was a great size. It was cooked exactly as ordered. The pepper sauce was especially good. The bruschetta with tomatoes was fresh and tasty. The wood fired oven adds just the right flavor to the toast. Perfect meal!

We popped in here without a reservation, but we were seated immediately. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the staff were just lovely. I had a burger that I can honestly say was one of the best I've ever eaten. My companion had a steak, and they enjoyed it and commented on how perfectly it was cooked.

Great place. We ate at a table by the canal. Staff were busy but friendly. Food was amazing and well priced. Burgers were made to preference and were juicy. Steak salad was huge and fresh. Would recommend

My food here was superb: no exaggeration when I say it was the best bruschetta of my entire life, and let me tell you I eat a lot of bruschetta. I had a Cornish hen for my main and that was equally exquisite, and a lovely wine with a fair markup when I googled it but I was only googling to see what it was to buy myself some for at home. The main reason I would make the stop for this restaurant again is the staff: I'm travelling alone and they've been so friendly, so helpful and so so welcoming. I felt more at ease here than I have anywhere else in the city so far and I got a tattoo four hours ago. Beyond this next to me were some awful customers. I'm talking "look for problems" type customers, talk to each other before acknowledging the staff's question type customers, the kind of customers who aren't smiling when there's a problem to be polite: they're smiling because they wanted there to be one. The waitress who first dealt with them, a kind seeming brunette woman, was to the point and handled their snark well. The second, a gentleman with long hair, seemed to solve problems they hadn't even occurred to them, kept his composure against their bile and found a solution quickly and easily. I'm writing this hoping you see this, and to apologise for my fellow English tourists. Reader visit this restaurant if it's in budget. This was a stunning meal with stunning staff and an atmosphere I wish I could return to.

The wait was a little long for the food, but the food and service was pretty good. The Rib-eye was juicy and tasted good. The scallops were perfectly cooked and went perfect with the sauce it came with. The fries was crunchy on the outside and soft in the inside.

I came to Black already many times and this last time was for a special dinner with family and friends, that I booked in advance. What happened was: 1. It took almost 30 mins for someone to ask us for drinks. 2. When we ordered the drinks it took 1 hour (for real) for the waiter to tell us that it was not possible to make a drink since they didn't have ingredients. 3. The waiter was very nice but clearly with no service experience. He gave us in replacement some free drinks, which is nice but it didn't stop there, more issues happened. 4. Each one of us ordered a dish and it was clear in the menu that each dish would come with fries and salad. What happened was that they gave us half of salad and fries to share. And since it was not my first time there I knew it was the same portion as usually comes individually. 5. After we ate - by the way the food was good - the waiter never came back to our table, we could literally have left without no one noticing us. As a customer that was used to always visit your restaurant I strongly recommend you to train your waiter and to pay attention to small things, link letting us no if you are running out of something as soon as possible. Hope it serves as motivation for improvements and I'm happy to be back to see if anything changed.

Good pancakes. Not so clean tables. The cutlery was from the previous people sitting, they were new, but we requested others and the waiter said she just placed them there.. no hygiene etiquette

the hummus was an interesting take on hummus with the addition of curry. The melted cheese was better than decent street all out is melted cheese which in my book odd kinda like bacon! Never met one of turn down and I do have my favorites We ate inside, they also have outside seating, the music definitely to my taste and service was great. As an American I could see other Americans that dine here could complain about slow or lack of service but this place is in Amsterdam not the good ole USA and I prefer places that aren’t interested in turning tables. It’s a better than decent place for a nibble or two.

Beyond happy I came across this beauty of a restaurant! Delicious food, great ambience, and friendly service. definitely do yourself a favour and go, I highly recommend!

I enjoyed have a dinner here, you can have a spot close to the canal and watch hundreds boats while you're having dinner. Meat was very nice.

We’ve spent our last night in Amsterdam having dinner at this place. The meat was very tasty, the ambience chill and relaxing. Customer service was amazing. Fabio was super kind and very nice towards us. Very good experience.

I went there in December 2023. We were hoping to have lunch after the good reviews published here. However, as already indicated by some, service is quite slow probably due to understaffing there. Indeed, I waited with my family approx 10 minutes at the check-in station. The waitress went by us but never talked to us other than asking us to leave her way.

We had reservations for every night of our trip except the night we arrived. We saw this place out our hotel window across the canal and decided to give it a try. We were met with a delightful and very competent server, delicious food(AND cocktails!). and in fact, ended our meal with a decaf cappuccino that came with the BEST macrons we found the entire trip. I recommend this place as a solid option to anyone looking for tasty, reasonable priced food and a lovely way to spend time canalside in a quieter spot in Amsterdam.

tasty, atmospheric, fast service, a bit of construction on the opposite spoils the view, but in general everything is fine, we come here often, and there is also delicious prosecco

Focaccia Beef Carpaccio was a delight! Angus Burger was also amazingly juicy. Waiters were so friendly and lively. Great place for a quick lunch by the canale.

It should be 4.5 stars: The first 3 stars are given to the essential of a restaurant — food. Very tasty! Especially the gamba out from the Josper, highly recommend! It looks a bit pale when it served, but the taste is definitely a very nice surprise. 1 star is rewarded to the staffs. They are very friendly (and also are very good looking). The last 0.5 star is given to the location/decorations/easy to access by any transportation. I would like to give a full star to the last point as it locates in a prime location. However, it smells weird last night when we were having dinner over there. Probably something wrong with the sewer pipe, the toilet smell kept coming out. So, minus 0.5 star for it. As a conclusion, it’s a “Worth to go” restaurant.

Amazing staff and nice food

While the food was good and served just fine, sadly the lackluster service took away a bit from the overall experience. Although the prices can be seen as slightly high, for the area it's in they're relatively average and seem to be fair. However an overall positive experience on the terrace by the water, with tasty food!

We had the Black Angus 160g steak with half a lobster to share. Both steaks were ordered rare however they were more medium for our taste. Searing of the meat was very good and added a nice texture. Lobster was OK. Orders do come with unlimited fries but they're nothing special.

Good os good, service is really nice! Try the burrata, or the bruschetta (it's is a local version of it, but is good!) The chicken is also nice , not dry, and comes with fries and salad, which you can 'refil' if you want! Try also the Moscow mule, very tasty.

Delicious soup of the day!very nice coffee! They delayed to serve the food but they apologised! Also one of the ladies serving seemed not to be happy doing that job and brought us the order of the other table and then took it back abruptly like it was our fault!!!

Nice restaurant, staff a bit stressed. Food (Food Chips) was a bit too oily but the fries were great. Drinks were delicious.

Overall had a excellent meal and highly recommend this restaurant. Service was good and servers didn't hover, but were there when needed. Price was what I expected, but nice to view the menu online before I went to the restaurant. Did make a reservation first because of COVID. Very happy to see COVID protocols were being followed. My steak was cooked just the way I wanted and it was tender and juicy. My tuna tartare tasted fresh and the slice of toast was a nice touch. The unlimited fries and salad was unexpected by appreciated.

We booked this for a large group and were sat outside by the canal. Long story short the food is great but the service isn’t. FOOD There is a lot of seafood and meat on the menu. Personally I tried the Veggie Burger which was hands down one of the best veggie burgers I’ve had. All meals also come with unlimited fries which is a bit of a game changer I’d say. Prices are very reasonable also. SERVICE/STAFF Extremely slow and rather unfriendly staff. We had to wait a long time to order, to get our drinks, to get more sauces, to remind them they had forgotten things. They also brought mains before clearing starters. They didn’t show us the wine menu even though we’d inspected it online.

Very nice entourage and christmas decoration; it's really well thought. Staff were friendly as well and the food was good and reasonably priced. In short, 5 stars because everything was simple perfect!

The breakfast I liked ,the place of the restaurant is nice overlooking the lake, just their lack of interest in cleaning the tables after any customer.

Went for lunch here while on holidays and I really enjoyed the service, the food was amazing. I had the steak sandwich and ordered lobster with it. Everything tasted so good and will definitely come back again.

We just walking into the place off the street and the ambiance is so warm and relaxed. The staff are just as welcoming as this restaurant. The steak carpaccio sandwich was to die for. The salad was far from simple, the attention to detail in the selection of leaves, herbs and dressing was a delightful combination. The 100% Black Angus beef burger, was not just a burger. The relish complimented the beef ♥️ If we ever coming back to Amsterdam this will be the place we come back to.

The croissant warm and crispy, the bread warm soft inside and crispy outside, bacon crispy, simple scrambled eggs that complemented very well. The breakfast was absolutely delicious!

We were there for dinner on Christmas Eve. Everything was just perfect. The food super delicious, the staff very polite and friendly. The interior is noble, classically chic and was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We felt very comfortable. Absolutely recommendable.
