We booked via booking.com a junior suite of 29m2 . When I checked in I doubted that it was the room which I clicked on as it seemed other furniture and rather small . After pointing out which room I booked the front manager admitted that they have bigger junior suites but that they are all booked . I went through booing .com de Hallen and realized that in fact I received a deluxe room instead of junior suite . The manager of the hotel did let me know via his front manager that in fact I occupy a junior suite albeit a small one , because juniors have a jacuzzi . This room is pathetic to call a junior suite . They offered me free breakfast as compensation . As Deluxe rooms are cheaper I actually expected a refund Apart from that the room is clean . The toilet is in a small cubicle like a cupboard and you have to cross the room to wash your hands which is uncomfortable . Also the privacy is a problem .all windows look directly into the house opposite ( about 5 meters ) and the others windows into courtyard and reception area. If you expect a junior suite as you know it from hotels with a corner to sit , then clearly this is not the hotel for you . We could only open one suitcase , very very small cupboard , a super small shower . One cramped basin . Don’t bother to pay the price for a junior suite .it is deceiving

Bed was good. Room was quite clean. Location was okay, not difficult to get to city area. A particular female staff always greeted & smile when face to face. She’s good! My last night stay, the cleaner left their mopping towel in my room on the table. There’s totally not coffee and tea replenished during my last day stay. I called for coffee & asked to go out take myself, which is fine. But just wondering is it normal to have not coffee & tea replenishment on last day. I had guest visited me & the male staff using very suspicious attitude to talk to us, even I have already mentioned he’s my guest on 18th Dec 10pm! Be alert is good but the attitude shown was bad. I hope this is NOT related to any racist. My last night stay with broken air conditioner, and my room is the only one happened. I hope it only happened accidentally. Breakfast was just alright.

I think I never had such a bad experience in a supposedly 4 star hotel before. The room were we stayed had BEDBUGS. I have bedbug bite all over my body and face. The hotel sent our clothes to the laundry for free which at first was nice but all the white clothes returned stained in light blue. They also promised to return the clothes in a day and they took two. We had to check out without our clothes.

WARNING: hotel employees may come into your room at 4:15am (without knocking)! True story! Imagine your first night in Amsterdam… you’re jet lagged, exhausted and finally have fallen asleep.. and in the middle of the night, you hear a keycard go in the door followed by the bolted door opening. That’s right, that deadbolt on the door doesn’t stop someone from getting in and traumatizing your wife next to you. I brought this to management’s attention the next day and was repeatedly fed different excuses for why it would be acceptable for an employee to gain entry into our room in the middle of the night (did I mention without knocking??). He even had the audacity to follow it up with “I hope you weren’t bothered at all.” I was extremely bothered at the complete violation of privacy and security in addition to the fact that there was zero compensation. We asked to move rooms and were denied; no nights were comped, no free breakfast… just an assurance it wouldn’t happen again. It was so frustrating because we actually really liked the hotel room, but the fact that we had to barricade our door to sleep soundly really soured our experience at Hotel De Hallen.

If you are looking for a nice hotel in a nice location that doesn't have windows or air in the rooms then this is the right choice. In most of the pictures and the description of the room you will find beautiful pictures with a curtain wall, a description of the 'view' of the patio which seems nice, but in reality when you arrive you will realize that you are in a kind of cage that is designed at a reasonable level and you cannot open a curtain for fear of being seen and you cannot breathe - because there is simply no window. We ended up staying 4 nights where we paid about 250 euros per night and felt like we were sleeping in a travelers hotel. It's a shame about the large amount of money that was poured here And it is very unfortunate that this is the attitude of the hotel to its guests.. + - WIFI - - NO WINDOWS, NO AIR, NO PRIVACY

I’ve never written a google review but I’m making an exception for Hotel De Hallen because the experience was so horrendous. Never experienced worse service. After making a reservation, my partner and I needed to know that we’d be able to check in at 2am (because we had a late flight) and asked them about bed bugs (because I read a bunch of reviews about bed bugs at their hotel). Absolutely nothing. No correspondence. Since they couldn’t guarantee a late check in, we were forced to cancel last minute. The morning after my check in time, they emailed my partner, pretending to never have heard from us and asking if we were planning to check in. They then charged a full night. Absolutely nuts.

I ended up with bed bug bites in room 105 after 3 nights at the hotel. Not the way you want to end a business trip... :( When I found bites I immediatly went to the front desk (I was met with a very dubious staffer), they changed my room, and offered to wash my clothes & reimbursement of the room. Hotel has great potential but the staff and cleanliness don't meet 4* quality.

Had a pretty bad experience at the hotel. Rooms are not super well maintained. We also had to change our reservation and the hotel management was basically very rigid and corporate. We've been a return customer for a while, but it seems that customer service isn't a priority. Making money by all means possible is more important.

We were booked in for a 5 night stay but left after the first night as the room (#104) was riddled with bed bugs (and I mean riddled - they were visible in the bed and crawling on the wall). I informed the front desk of the problem and the staff were apologetic but were not surprised or even concerned. We were offered a room change and one free night but we decided to switch to a hotel that doesn't have a bed bug infestation.

We chose the hotel because of their beautiful modern interior. When we got there the hotel was truly a delight, decor-wise, ambience, food outlets and shops within walking distance. And....there is a big beautiful mosque about 10 minutes walk away! Staff were friendly and courteous. Truly happy guests we were.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in process was smooth and our room was cleaned each day with care. The room was beautiful and very spacious. The decor was lovely. The bed and linens were super comfortable and the bathroom was so nice!

I was excited to stay here and leading up to my visit, I saw a few notes about bed bugs. I contacted management and they assured they didn't have any. And they didn't. It was a wonderful place to stay. Room is quite trendy and comfortable. Walkable to A LOT. Great food hall next door along with public transportation. I would stay here again!

The hotel is gorgeous, really beautiful art and design inside. The rooms are clean and a nice size, but mostly the staff and location make this place - special thanks to Anne on reception who was super helpful when I left my bag on a tram and did her best to help us find it. Will definitely stay again when next here

The room was clean but small. There wasnt enough space to open two luggages and luckily one of the luggages could fit into the wardrobe space to be opened up. The bed's mattress layer was very thin (about 10 cm thick only). The pillows were too soft that when i rest on it, my head just sinks down and touches the mattress (essentially it's as good as not having a pillow) The toilet and bathroom layout is poorly designed. The toilet is separated from the bathroom which was really inconvenient as after using the toilet, we had to walk around into the bathroom to wash and dry our hands. The bathroom floor area is big but the shower area is really cramped. The rain shower's water pressure was good but the handheld shower's water pressure was very weak. It was also easy for the water to splash out of the shower area. The hairdryer provided was weak even at the highest setting. Location is acceptable but it's not the most convenient. You definitely have to take a tram to visit the touristy spots. On a positive note, this hotel stood out from the other 3 hotels I stayed in during my Netherlands trip by being the only hotel that provided bedroom slippers.

Absolute gem in Amsterdam. Lovely hotel that is fun, great artwork with a restaurant and bar onsite. As well, located 2 min away is the De Hallen Amsterdam full of shops, food, bars and ice cream. There is also grocery near by and the tram is very short walk. While located a little west from the tourist area, we walked everywhere. Including the Negen Straatjes neighborhood full of museums, restaurants, shops, etc. We did have a little plumbing issue on our last day but the staff was very quick to work on it and accommodate us.

Nice and new decoration, friendly staff, clean rooms. Location is very good in walking distance for walking lovers. Otherwise only 4 stops by the tram. I will prefer again for next time.

My first ever solo trip and I lost my phone. The hotel were nothing but helpful, they let me use their phones for free to call people back in England, they let me use their printers to get my plane tickets and all my documents and they made sure I had money to get the airport and get home safely. Amazing hotel, clean and the most lovely helpful staff!

The staff is amazing and make you feel welcome at any time. They are very polite and I thank them all. Our room was big enough, the bathroom was spacious and everything seemed perfectly clean. I sincerely recommend it.

Enjoyed my stay here at Hotel De Hallen. The location is Coventry located near a tram stop and is also right next to a Food Hall which is nice for tourists. The hotel restaurant and bar are also very nice and reasonably priced. My only complaint is that WiFi was almost unusable at some points and when it was working it was very very slow. Other than that everything else was as described.

Absolutely wonderful. Spacious rooms, and the entire property is extremely clean and modern. The hip-industrial vibe of the property was very fitting, as the hotel is built inside of a retired Tram depot. Extensive bathrooms with shower & freestanding bathtub. Staff were extremely friendly and never left me wanting for anything during my 5-night stay. Just outside of the tourism center, but in a very nice and safe neighborhood near a street market and De Hallen shopping center/food hall. Some rooms do lack outward facing windows, however it never felt claustrophobic. Will definitely return during my next trip to Amsterdam.

Location: 5/5. Price: 5/5. Bed: 1/5: Super soft mattress. Impossible to sleep good. Almost like the hammock. People with back problems avoid this hotel. Clean: 3/5: No daily cleaning (because of COVID-19 they said - looks more like saving some money). Staff: 5/5. Rooms do not have outside windows (you're inside the hall). You can't open them. There is (good) ventilation and air cinditioning, so it is not so disturbing. Room space and bathroom size are OK.

The hotel was so wonderful. The rooms were so spacious and the location was wonderful. In Amsterdam everything is so much closer than it seems on Maps, trust me. We were worried that we would be too far away from the a lot, but it is such a short walk everywhere. 30 minute walk in Amsterdam feels like 15 because how flat everything is. That being said, the location for us was so perfect. We felt so safe, and the hotel was quiet. The staff are super friendly, and we will 100% rebook when we visit again!

Have had several pleasant stays at Hotel de Hallen. Comfortable bed and bath, quiet and friendly service. The only trouble is that the deluxe double rooms I stayed at were very warm (21-22 degrees Celsius at night). Adjusting the thermostat to the lowest possible temperature had no discernible effect, which is far from ideal - especially at night. So when it comes to this, definitely some room for improvement.

My wife and I stayed here for a mid-week break and it was a great choice of hotel for us! We'd definitely try to stay here again if we return to Amsterdam. The location is peaceful and safe, but very well connected to the city centre by tram, with a lot of great places to eat nearby - not least the lively adjacent Foodhallen (food court). Also great options for breakfast/coffee, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, and a daily street market. The hotel restaurant itself (Remise47) also did very nice food for us. We found all staff to be friendly and helpful at all times; the decor was nice (modern but comfortable) and the communal area was always quiet - like having a separate living room outside your room. The former tram tracks have been retained in the floor in places - it's a fun bit of history to the building. The room itself was very well appointed, with a comfy bed and excellent bathroom (with a real bath, and a roomy shower). It was clear to us when we booked that there was no external window in the room - this didn't bother us at all. (We didn't come to Amsterdam to hide in our room all the time!) The bathroom was separated by doors made of darkly frosted glass - we found this to be more than enough privacy. The only criticism of the room was that it got unpleasantly warm unless we ran the AC constantly - including through the night. This was in November - not a hot summer! The AC noise meant my wife needed earplugs to sleep, but I was fine with it.

A really nice boutique style hotel. Well appointed rooms.A little walk from the centre bit with a good local vibe. Great breakfast

The Hotel de Hallen is around half an hour from the centre of town (or a 10 min tram ride). For me, that was a plus point, as I wanted to avoid the hordes of stag and hen parties. It is however surrounded by places to eat (the Breakfast Club is good) and the Hallen shopping and food arcade. The hotel itself is in a converted tram shed, which means that it's got quite a unique layout of a long hall with rooms on either side across two levels, it reminded me a little of a cruise ship. The rooms in fact have something of a cruise ship feel about them, they are pretty compact, but the most is made of the space available. The bath is almost hidden behind the shower in the corner of the bathroom. Finally, the staff are friendly and helpful, and though I didn't try it, there is a restaurant on site.

Amsterdam is expensive but this place provides excellent value for money. The rooms are lovely, staff are excellent, and the group of 12 of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was a nice distance out of the centre with either a short walk in or a tram if you're feeling lazy!

Have stayed in this hotel twice now. Overall it’s in a good location (surrounded by good cafes, markets and a foodhall), has clean rooms, friendly staff and a powerful shower. The one frustration is the wifi signal was weak in our room (123) which meant it was slow and unreliable. I didn’t try the ‘premium’ wifi as its a bit cheeky to have to pay for something that should just work.

The staff were extremely helpful. The area is in a quieter neighborhood but with close access to the main Amsterdam attractions. There are every good restaurants nearby. Grooms were clean and modern.

A great hotel, in a great location. We have stayed at this hotel a few times during trips to Amsterdam. It is just outside the hustle and bustle of The Red Light District. Easy commute on the trams to the attractions of Amsterdam. All the staff we met were friendly and courteous. A HUGE bath in our room with a separate shower. There is a wonderful food court just behind the hotel.

What a fantastic hotel. The staff are amazing . The hotel is quirky and so nice. We didn't eat here but I'm sure the food will be just as good as the hotel itself.

Cannot say enough good things about this hotel. The staff is incredible and the service is amazing. We stayed here during our move and everyone was so helpful and kind. The room was comfortable, the pillows are delightful, and they even upgraded us to a bigger room to accommodate all our stuff. 10/10 would absolutely stay here again.

A great quirky little hotel located outside the major hustle and bustle but an easy 20- 30 mins walk into central Amsterdam museums restaurants etc. Not the cheapest but Rooms clean staff helpful. Would definitely recommend to friends.

A good hotel in the city of Amsterdam which is located near the city center (about 20-25minutes walking). The breakfast was very nice. Our room has a very strange arrangement as far as the bathroom is concerned, it was a bit uncomfortable but clean. What displeased me was that on the second day of our stay at the hotel, the cleaner took a piece of clothing with the sheets (by mistake). We went to the reception and while they assured us that they would look for it every day, we asked at the reception and each employee gave us a different answer, with the result that we left on the sixth day without getting our personal item back. Nevertheless, a good hotel.

I recently had a highly disappointing and dreadful experience at this hotel. My wife and I had booked a room with a view and had even paid extra for it 45 days prior to our check-in. However, upon arrival at 11 pm, we were informed by the receptionist, Ez, that the room we had booked was no longer available. He assured us that the room would be changed in the morning. The next day, when we approached the morning receptionist, a young and incredibly rude individual, we were met with a complete lack of professionalism and unfriendliness. We were shocked by the way we were treated. In an attempt to resolve the issue, we decided to call the manager, Judi. However, she proved to be equally unhelpful and displayed a very unfriendly attitude towards us. It seemed like she was more interested in making sure other guests did not overhear our conversation, rather than addressing our concerns. It was clear that she knew we were in the right, yet she did nothing to rectify the situation. Not only did they charge us for a room that did not match the pictures and description provided, but their customer service was abysmal. As a result of this horrendous experience, three other families who were planning to travel to Amsterdam have decided to cancel their reservations at this hotel. I strongly advise against staying at this hotel. The lack of professionalism, disrespectful behavior, and disregard for customer satisfaction make it clear that this establishment does not value its guests. Save yourself the trouble and find a different hotel that actually cares about providing a pleasant experience for its customers.
