Booking with XO Hotels? Please stay away from these SCAMMERS. Our Story: We booked a room with them, but our flight was cancelled due to STORM EUNICE on 18th February in Amsterdam. We called them up, to ask for a date change since entire country was effected by the STORM and needed help. We requested them on call and on email that it's a lot of money and least they could do is is to reschedule us. Next day, they replied that and gave us just one hour to decide the new dates and provide them or they will not provide any refund. We requested again that we were struggling with Airlines and are unable to fix a reschedule date, so please cancel the reservation and help us with at least one day time. XO hotel denied and Susanne from reservation team said if it looks like a lot of money then we should not travel. I have never seen this rude STAFF in HOSPITALITY industry and I have travelled all around the world. Trust me, the overall experience is horrible and we lost our money for rooms booking for 4 days due these FRAUDS taking advantage of STORM EUNICE to make money. If you have even a little love for your money, do not book with them. Try booking any other hotel in Amsterdam but NOT XO Hotels. You want to know more please connect with me. CONCLUSION: DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM. They are EXTREMELY RUDE and YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR MONEY.

I enjoyed my stay at blue square, but I would be remiss if I didn't mention a few things. Firstly, the cleaning is very lackluster. The first room had an over mattress full of yellow marks and hairs that looked many years old. The halls look like they very rarely get vacuumed and had dirt for many days. Walls/doors also had a lot of dirt marks that were not being cleaned. Also, in the morning the cleaners were shouting to each other across rooms and taking phone calls, so don't expect to be able to sleep in. The reception staff were nice though. The first room with the mattress was quickly replaced by a much nicer room. They were friendly and helpful. Another issue is the bathroom. It's a nice big room with a great tub, but there is almost no ventilation so all the walls get very wet from condensation after a shower. The room also has no heating so the floors are freezing. Lastly, the ventilation looked extremely dirty. There was a safe in the room, but without any batteries so it could not be used. Other than this, the room was comfortable. Big bed, huge windows with two layers of curtains. And a nice quiet location just in between two tram stations. It's located in a Turkish neighborhood.

A great service from the staff, very nice rooms and an easy-to-find location make of this hotel a really nice play to stay. For what you get out of you stay, it really is with the money. I suppose other hotels from this franchise/chain in Amsterdam are really good too but I really recommend this one specifically. They also have maps of the city and lots of discounts for a lot of activities and museums that are really good if you’re planning to stay a few days to visit Amsterdam.

I had a wonderful stay at XO Hotels Blue Square. The room was impressively spacious and impeccably clean, which made my stay all the more comfortable. It's evident that the hotel takes great pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness. This attention to detail did not go unnoticed and contributed significantly to my positive experience. I look forward to returning in the future.

Hotel Blue Square in Slotermeerlaan, Amsterdam is a nice decent hotel with lovely neighbourhoods of restaurants and eateries. The location is decent with decent sized rooms and bathrooms. There are basic amenities like a coffee machine and refrigerator in rooms. Cons - no water bottles in rooms and it costs €3 for each if you want to buy. The breakfast is either included (depends on booking) or there is a charge of €15 (reduced to €12.50 if you book in advance). The breakfast is decent but repeated menu everyday so if you are in this hotel for 3-5 days, be assured to be served with the same menu everyday.

Room hygiene was horrible during my stay. Leaking shower, with drain plate removed. Vomit or coffee stain on the wall. Brownish stain on the bed sheets. Upon my complaint at the front desk, the lady working there acknowledged the situation and blamed the room service. I don't understand why the hotel management doesn't take measures when they are fully aware of the situation. I wrote an e-mail explaining the situtation, unfortunately i haven't received any response as of today.

Excellent location, next to restaurants, supermarkets and easy access transportation 24/7. The outside design of the hotel is not very attractive but the interior is organized and neat. Friendly staff and good cleaning service. The benefit-cost is definitely the best feature here. You can have a simple but decent room with a desk, coffee machine, mini fridge, locker, clean towels, good shower, everything for a fair price

Poor Hygiene and cleanliness. Had booked a single room for multiple nights. The room was very congested and information provided on one of the leading website was wrong regarding the area of the room. Manager did not care when told about the same. It looked like room was not cleaned in ages. Sheets had dust/ dust mites which triggered an allergic reaction. Next day I paid extra and upgraded my room to double sharing. The plastic cups placed near the coffee machine were used and there were bed bugs crawling on wall. Poor experience. Price for breakfast is high for the options provided. To hotel's response: Thanks for the reply, kindly noted as below: 1. The above issues of dirty plastic cups and bed bugs are for the room, I was shifted to after "paying" for the upgrade. Room was not shifted for free. 2. I never mentioned dust on the glass. I mentioned dust in the room/ sheets which initiated allergic reaction. There was another concern regarding the window, apprised to the hotel staff and manager: window defective and was shaking / making noise with wind blowing all the time. 3. Photos uploaded regarding the bed bugs are from the room I was staying. Not sure how effective was the cleanliness and inspections were.

Fairly quiet place, near the bus and tram stops. Can get you around most places and there are shops nearby to get your essentials. Very hospitable and helpful receptionists. Overall great experience.

What a wonderful place Amsterdam is and the complete opposite can be said for this hotel. We had starting travelling at 1am, spent most of the day in the city and were looking forward to just getting to bed. Upon arrival (7pm) the receptionist let us know that there was an issue with receiving bedding so our room was ready but the bed was unmade. We had to go down twice to request for it to be made, which was finally done at 9.30pm. The extra 'housekeeping' to hurry getting the rooms ready after the late bedding order consisted of one man sweating profusely to try and change the bedsheets of every room in the hotel. On top of this, the bedding we did get had multiple red (blood?) stains on it. We gave up hope of getting fresh bedding that night, but requested it to be changed when the room was cleaned in the morning. The room was not cleaned and the sheets were not changed. When we returned in the evening and requested new sheets (again) the receptionist was unable to provide us with any. We were at a point were if XO had even given us fresh, unstained sheets to put on the bed we would have happily made them ourselves. The staff were polite and apologetic and offered breakfast for one of the mornings of our 3 night stay, but the cleanliness and upkeep of the room were not up to the standard we paid for, with multiple stains, dust, fingerprints from previous guests, uncleaned sides, Silverfish bugs in the bathroom.

This one of the best hotels for customer service and hospitality and I have travelled around the Netherlands and stayed in a couple of hotels. The staff were amazing especially the first man we met who greeted us politely and with a lovely attitude really was great start to our trip ! And I would also like to mention how amazing the night staff are and how much they are under appreciated, met with one individual called Betty you can distinguish her from her many wonderful tattoos and her chill attitude she was talkative and helpful through the trip and although asked for verification every time she reminded us that this was done due to the safety of the other staff and people on the premises which reasonable ! She is such a great asset to the team Another staff member id like to mention is Micheal who greeted every morning for breakfast he had a warming and amicable smile, and was very amusing also a great meme we of staff at this hotel ! I would definitely recommend staying here

The staff was wonderful and friendly, especially the receptionists. The room was fine (clean). We had a small problem with the corridor door, but they fixed it quickly 😊 The place is "far" from the city centre if you go on foot (although the path is very nice). It is about 10-12 stops from the centre. Nearby there is a supermarket, shopping mall, restaurants, etc.

I have posted on here before about this wonderful hotel and since I have again just stayed in it recently my opinion hasn't changed a bit. If you're looking for an affordable well run clean hotel look no further. Some might say it's a bit outside of the centre which is true but it's well connected with transport only minutes away including buses tram and metro. There are a number of XO hotels in Amsterdam all colour coded and I might try another next trip but I would happily stay here again.

Attention to detail, that's what really counts. The hotel décor, in both public areas and within the rooms, was perfectly and elegantly finished. It was a nice surprise having use of the fridge, the safe, the ironing board and iron at no extra cost. Superb shower! Friendly and professional staff, and good location for transport links and eateries. In short, excellent value.

As hotels in Amsterdam are quite expensive, this one was affordable but quite far from central. Tram/bus stop 2 min walking distance. Breakfast is good. Rooms were nice and clean. Staff is also humble. One day they didn’t replace towels but upon asking they did it quickly. Staff is available all night on reception. Good coffee machine as well.

A little crazy location. A lot of life and many different cultures collide in this little area. The rooms are solid and you will have no problems sleeping there. The service is the best part. Every single worker has been kind and very compliant. Ask a question and you will immediately get an answer. Also it is very good price for longer days. Will come back.

This is my second stay in this Hotel. First one was OK. Nice and clean with very nice front desk staff. This is why I decided to use this Hotel again. This time it was not clean - at all. First room I was given was very cold and dirty. Second room was a bit better. Was warmer but it smelled of old dirty socks. I had to vent it for one hour to make the smell go away. HDMI port on all TVs in all XO hotels are blocked and you are not able to connect your laptop or any other device. There is no cast option on the TV either so you are on the mercy of regional TV! Overall i am not happy with this hotel. I will not be using it next around.

Friendly staff and comfortable beds - unfortunately, dusty room and dirty bed sheets - when we told one of the reception staff that the sheets were dirty, we were told that “sometimes they come back from the cleaner like that”… not really the answer you’d want to hear. But other than that, can’t complain. Hotel isn’t much from the outside but it’s perfectly pleasant inside and you certainly get a good nights sleep.

Very nice staff, strong Internet, good location with direct access to airport and central train station, many restaurants around. Rooms were clean but small stains on the sheets, though definitely washed so not dirty in that sense. Little minus: we are two women with long hair and stayed for 5 days. The two small tubes of hair and body wash were empty soon and never replaced so we had to buy shampoo from outside. Anyway there is a small shopping centre next to the place where you can get lots of stuff.

Really enjoyed the rooms - lots of space and quiet. Staff was helpful and relatively friendly most of the time. Do keep in mind you will be quite a distance from the city center but the transit is quite easy via bike or street car. It is also a bit of a hassle to get to from the airport. Walking to the city center will take close to an hour though. For the money, I would have hoped for a slightly more central location and would definitely stay at an XO hotel again in Amsterdam. I would just aim for an XO that is more central.

  • 5/5 Alex P. 1 year ago on Google
Nice hotel nice room. Friendly staff very helpful. Food venues all around burgers chicken pizza and loads more. Is abit far away from central but just make sure you buy a travel pass once you reach airport, will take you everywhere you go from airport to Dam central and all around city, is just a hop on to No13 tram and will drop you off 100metres away

I got bed bugs from this place. They were sorry about it and I got refunded. Overall the service was good and the staff was helpful. The breakfast was nice. However, the location is not in a good area. I’ve seen other reviews mention weird people around the entrance and I had the same experience.

0 service My sister and I have travelled all the way from Germany and we couldn’t check in on the right day. So, we checked in the next morning, we couldn’t have time to check the mail that we have to inform. When checking in, the receptionist called Natali, was unprofessional with very upset face and she talked to us with no respect without explaining nicely. She treated to the customer awfully, we are coming to enjoy the city, she destroyed our moods

This awful room belongs to room 279, XO Hotels Amsterdam Blue Square. I logged in on September 14th. Let me tell you why this hotel is so terrible. On September 15, our drinks were stolen from the refrigerator. I told this to the reception. They have been cleaning the room for 4 days. They don't give paper cups, they don't. They don't provide hand soap. I told this to the reception last night and got into a fight with the person at the reception. They said they would clean the entire room this morning. We left the room in the morning. We knew they would clean the room. When we came to the room in the evening, as you can see in the attached photos, no one came to the room. Nobody cleaned the room. Nobody picked up the garbage. They have a terrible service. There is a terrible cleaning staff. It's a terrible hotel. I will share these photos on all social media. I will put these photos on every booking site in the world. I will tell the whole world what a terrible hotel you are. But you won't care about that because you don't care about your customers. You don't care about providing service. I will stay in this hotel for 7 nights but I will do my best not to let anyone stay in this hotel again.

Clean and quiet hotel. 30 minutes to the center or to the airport, tram almost next door. Great, helpful staff. I really liked that in the room was a coffee machine. The coffee was delicious! Good shower. Room has AC and iron. I really enjoyed my stay!

2.5 stars, just for the workers there. Good communication ability, kind and request will be accomplished within the next day after asking. Rooms were not cleaned during the week of staying. Fresh towels and shampoo ye, but no cleaning of the floor itself. Beds not so comfy. Would not recommend it for a longer stay, for a short period its ok.

Room was basic but didn't really need more for the length of our stay. Was pretty clean and the Aircon worked well so we could cool down the room fast after a long day. We did have an issue but the staff were very professional and took it seriously. Links into the city are easy to get as the trans are frequent and there's a few stops less than a 5 minute walk.

Room was big enough and clean. Location is not too central but there are public transport direct connections to the city center.

  • 2/5 Benchi K. 2 years ago on Google
Room is spacious, clean and comfortable. However, the front desk service is non-existent. The hotel is closed off and one needs to ring a bell to be let in. However, the receptionist keeps disappearing leaving you wait for 10-15 minutes in the cold weather. The phone number is answered by another hotel and they have no way of letting you inside. Would never stay here again.

We booked a room for 4 persons 2 month ago. We are from germany. when we arrived they told is that we couldn’t stay there. The woman on the reception seemed to be unbothered, not friendly and didn‘t try to find a solution for us. Ps: u better book a room in "The student hotel amsterdam city"

I always stay in this hotel whenever I come to Amsterdam. It's close to the local supermarkets and restaurants. Only a short tram ride into the main city. The rooms are always clean and well presented. The bathroom is spotless and the shower is a rainfall type shower, super relaxing. The staff have been very friendly and helpful. They have a locked room where you can put your luggage in the day you check out if you want to keep exploring and come get your luggage later. They were more than happy to accommodate our request for extra pillows and sent them up to the room. It's perfect for anyone wanting to have a great stay but also save €€ on their hotel.

  • 4/5 Jake G. 2 years ago on Google
Clean and simple, good for the price. The rooms are a little small but if you're planning on spending most of your time in the city it doesn't matter anyway. This hotel is a little far from the city centre, however the number 13 tram down the road at the roundabout can take you there in around 20 minutes. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Excellent. Friendly staff and really well kept rooms. The bedding was a bit hit and miss but that's an individual thing, so I won't let that hamper their efforts at all. I'd highly recommend staying here. Not far from Sloterdijk Station and surrounded by amenities. Who's got two thumbs up? This guy.

We are accomodating at xo Hotel Blue Square and second night the heater was not working, we learnt it when we went to hotel at night and the room was very cold, it was snowing outside and we have two babies. The hotel did not solve the problem, did not have any extra heater something working with electric and when i asked for extra blanket, they give the answer that They don’t have a housekeeping. I think they don’t give priority for the customer happiness.

Nice hotel with good facilities. Best air conditioning to any hotel I've been to. Clean and comfy rooms. The beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. They have a nice nespresso coffee machine in the room which is great to get hot water, coffee, tea etc. They have room service to clean room and refresh coffee tray. They have a secure parking space. Its 15 euros per day but it is worth it as locals were telling me cars are not safe to park on street, especially if it has foreign registration. There are restaurants and shops nearby for breakfast and a pub not so far away. You can get the bus or tram into Central Amsterdam. The tram stop is not too far away. The hotel serves breakfast and there are vending machines as well. Overall, this is an excellent place to stay and I would recommend.

Great rooms, very cozy and comfortable with good air conditioning. There is a mini refrigerator in the room as well as an espresso machine, cups, and tea bags. The bathroom is nice and equipped with clean towels, shampoos and soaps. Room services are available everyday. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Watch out for check in/out hours. I arrived in the hotel for my check-in 20 minutes early (2:40 PM), and had to wait until 3 PM for my check-in (or else, I should've paid an extra 5€ for my early(!) check-in). Overall, very satisfied with my experience.

Big rooms, very clean and cozy too, The view from the window to the lake is wonderful! Staff very friendly. Here at the hotel you can rent your bike for 24 hours. The location is great, with supermarkets and restaurants close by and very well connected by tram to go downtown. 5 stars for price vs quality

Beautiful hotel, very comfy and spacious exactly what you would want for a city break, staff were amazing and so polite, helped us to understand the public transport as it’s a bit out of the city. Fresh towels and coffee were out in our room. Overall amazing stay

Amazing hotel with amazing staff. Always helpful and nice! The rooms where great and clean and it's very close to public transportation, it only takes about 30 minutes to get to the center. There's also some great restaurants in the area.

We stayed for 3 nights for a business trip, when we arrived after 4 pm half of our rooms weren’t ready yet. One of the ones that was ready was mine. Sadly it was not properly cleaned, if cleaned at all. I had hair on my bed, sticky gunk on my nightstand, half eaten space cakes in my fridge. At least the duvet cover got changed after i told the reception and the food taken away. I got offered free breakfast, which i couldn’t actually get because we had already booked breakfast in advance. Later i found chocolate bar wrappers on the floor, the floor generally dirty in places and so on. When i told the staff as i was checking out they didn’t understand nor really care about it. Compensation in any shape wasn’t offered. I also didn’t feel super safe as the lock on my door wasn’t working properly. The website made it seem like there would be special vegan offers for breakfast. The only thing i got was a staff member that was confused that he should tell me about what food i could have while not even really knowing what vegan even meant. As a vegan the breakfast absolutely isn’t worth 15€, it was alright but not much to choose from and the quality wasn’t too great. I don’t plan on ever staying here again.

Amazing value for money place. Ten minutes away from the city center with the tram. Quiet neighborhood with lots of places for breakfast, lunch, dinner and coffee. The staff was really helpful and nice and the rooms were clean and big enough to be comfortable.

The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. The location outside is horrible. The safe was closed from the beginning, so we could not use it. We had to ask 4 times till someone came and opened it. It was the last day of our vacation. We were not able to put the room up for cleaning because the touch screen just didn't work. You could put it in "Do not disturb" mode without any problem tho. The bathroom is clean and modern but 30ml soap is not enough for 5 days and 2 people. There is no parking at the hotel. You can park at another Blue XO Hotel a 3 min walk away for 15€ a day which was fine for me.

The staff is really wonderful especially the receptionists. The room was very clean and honestly more than expected. Also the view is really amazing, I was lucky with that :). The place is about 12 stops from the city center. Lots of markets, restaurants and cafes around you. Over all, I was very happy that everything was more than perfect 👍🏻
