The hotel service was excellent. I requested a romantic package, and they delivered it with top-notch quality. The reception staff were incredibly attentive throughout my stay. The hotel was spotless in all areas. Parking is available for €20 per 24 hours. I had a fantastic view of the city, and it was remarkably quiet due to the soundproof windows. The amenities were outstanding, including a pool, sauna, and tanning machines. Everything was immaculately organized and clean. One point to note is that the outdoor pool's temperature only reaches a maximum of around 29°C in winter. So, if swimming is your focus during your visit, you might want to reconsider using the pool at this time. However, the sauna is worth trying out. Additionally, they offer breakfast separately for €23 per person, which is truly delicious and worth it. They also have a gym available. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.

After requesting to change the date of reservation they refused and wanted us to pay again. If you expect any type of customer service from your hotel, keep looking.

From the outside, the hotel has little curbside appeal. On entering you realise your money was well spent. Very efficient and polite employees, stunning bar with open fire pits and sofas, great gym, sauna, steam room, rooftop small swimming pool,. The restaurant menu was limited for the evening meals. The cost of a main meal was around £30. The food was gorgeous and as expected. Breakfast was £23 euros per person per night. I thought this to be expensive so I did not try it. Rooms amazing and spacious with great views of the canal. A 25 minute walk to the metro where the 51 takes you to Central station in 12 minuets and runs every 10 minutes. Great value hear for money. Small shop in the entrance for snacks treats and drinks. 24hr pizza delivery to your room. Would book again

This hotel is superb! Been there for three days and everything was perfect! Camera design and comforts are super. Things i love are: - you can listen your mobile music in rooms stereo player - rechargeable shelf - you can order a pizza from hotel kitchen 24h/7 and eat it in your room - super comfy bedroom. The only things I recommend to change is the tv. I do not understand Dutch at all and it’d be super nice to link my phone or Amazon to tv in order to let me see something understandable 😂 But anyway! I love this place!

A few days after booking this stay, I unfortunately had to go through an event of a passing of a family member. A month in advance I messaged the hotel for assistance, however I was shown no sympathy. I understand there is policies and terms however instead of further assistance, the staff chose to ignore my emails and completely shut me out. Upon arrival of the hotel, the staff at check in just seemed to not bother with checking me in. Made no conversation and made me felt more unwelcome then I already was. The room was filthy, windows were dirty and the bed sheets gave me a terrible rash! I went to speak to staff about this, however after waiting 20 minutes I decided to just sleep without any sheets and just deal with it. Checking out, staff did not want to make conversation. Overall I have never felt so uncomfortable at a hotel. I booked this hotel based on reviews however this was my error! I never would’ve expected this from a hotel of this class.

Fabulous hotel. Modern, new, clean. I stayed for a few days and we ran a workshop in hotel meeting rooms. Not one single negative comment. Thank you.

I was stying in business rooms for 4 nights. Very comfortable and stylish hotel. Rooms are big and spacious. In the room there are: kettle, tea/coffe, nespresso machine, hair dryer, TV, fridge. There is no closet, but you can hang your clothes on hangers near to the bed. However, bathroom is opened, so I would recommend this particular type of room for single people. Breakfasts are delicious, the choice of food is huge. There is also swimming pool area and gym. The food and drinks at the bar are very tasty, too. The one thing that I didn't like is that business rooms are very dark and there is not enough light in my opinion. Location is pretty good, too. It's not in the Centre, but it's very close to business district and metro station is 5 minutes walk from hotel. Then youhave 51 nr of metro and 10 minutes by metro, you are in the city centre. I strongly recommend this hotel for short stay and for business trips.

This was quite a nice hotel. Smelt delightful when entering and within. Reception staff very pleasant. Had a reasonably good gym, and sauna facilities. I didn't eat in at the hotel at all, so cannot comment on the quality of the food. It was easy to get to from the airport, however there are no shops or supermarkets nearby . The room was quite nice but the decor was dark, and the lights were not sufficient for the darkness.

A fantastic hotel. One of the best I have ever stayed in. Everything was perfect from the moment we entered until the second we left. Has an amazing spa, great restaurant and bar and an all you can eat breakfast buffet. The hotel is also super close to the Overamstel station, which gives easy access both to Amsterdam Central and Schiphol airport. Would definitely stay here again and again.

The 14th floor room was lovely, though the bed was a bit uncomfortable. Breakfast was great with lots of quality and variety. Service was helpful and friendly. The location was quiet, but a short walk to metro stop had you in central Amsterdam in just over 10 minutes.

Hotel is amazing, wellness center is small but it has most needed things like sauna, pool, steam bath etc. It felt very cosy and comfortable inside. Only one thing for improvement, the staff at the reception desk didn’t explain everything, we had go down asking questions a couple of times. Despite that, it is a great place to stay in Amsterdam and I highly recommend it.

We had a very pleasant stay at the Van der Valk hotel while visiting Amsterdam. The rooms were very comfortable and the restaurant did very good food, an excellent breakfast. It was also close to a metro station for quick trains into the heart and f the city.

We stayed at the penthouse suit which was well designed. Unfortunately the water was not working in the morning so I could not take shower. Hotel lobby/ restaurant are both designed well. However the service quality is horrible. For example we wanted breakfast in the room, but we had to fill it on a piece of paper and run to the reception twice to bring it. Why can’t we hang it on the door or just call it in? One time I called the reception for slippers, and they asked me to come down to the reception to pick it up(!) Plus there was NO breakfast menu or room service menu in the room. And imagine this is the penthouse suite. At the end, they could not even bring me a cup of cappuccino. The food in the restaurant is relatively ok. Service at the restaurant was better. In Conclusion, we stayed at the most expensive room at this hotel with an add on of “romantic package” and I did not even get to take shower in the morning and could not even get a simple cappuccino. What would you say? 3 stars is even too much. (By the way romantic package could be improved, they r just putting some rose petals on the bed with some red pink balloons and two bottles of small airplane wines, and a few chocolates) see the picture.

My hubby booked this hotel because of the view. All in all it was an amazing experience. The hotel was clean, the rooms as well and extremely comfortable and quiet for our 2 days away. Restaurant service and staff are amazing The bar was great as well. I found the spa room mostly steam room kindly of crowded some people having videos calls and cameras on and loud plus having children in as well. You would expect some level of maturity enforcement by management. Over all I would recommend it for anyone. We had an amazing experience.

Lovely interior, great staff, awesome wellness area and a great bed. Not to mention the bar is worth visiting. The city is very accessible via metro and you don't pay am arm and a leg to stay in Amsterdam. Highly recommend!

Upscale hotel with many amenities. The included breakfast had everything to satisfy every appetite. The large room was clean and the beds comfortable. Loved the jetted swimming pool, the saunas and wonderful steam room. The staff is friendly and helpful. The area is quiet and close enough for a short walk to the train station to connect with areas in and around Amsterdam.

Rooms: OK Restaurant: OK, but is expensive Reception Service: Absolutely terrible. They wrongly communicated at check-in that everything was paid (including the 3€ city tax) and they then held us hostage at checkout for these 3€ city tax, which they at check out claimed was not paid. It was indeed not paid, but they wrongly communicated at check in that it was. The whole back and forth at check out took 30m due to which we missed breakfast (which the receipting was fully aware of when we were talking). At the end we couldn’t have breakfast and we just left the hotel when we reached the point at which we would have gotten late to work otherwise. Poor service, wrong communication and really ruined the stay for a ridiculous amount of 3€ at the end.

unfortunately i can only give this hotel one star because of their bad service. I booked 2 rooms for 2 friends. Unfortunately, my friends can't go there after all. unfortunately we booked without cancellation. When I requested a date change or cancellation, I was ignored until the date for a possible rebooking had started. the next day the e-mail came that there was no way to rebook or cancel. when you call you are referred back to booking and it is said that you can't change it in the hotel. With a hotel of this size and with such a well-known name, I would have liked more customer orientation. seems to me that the hotel doesn't care about the customer at all. because of the whole thing I lost probably 900€.

Room was lovely. Great view. Why 4 stars? Just give me a kettle and sachets of coffee. Not a coffee machine that comes with no instructions and you need a degree in engineering to operate. After ruining 4 coffee pods and ending up cleaning up the coffee grounds from a popping pod, ended up having a cup of tea.

We stayed 2 nights over the weekend here, the room was a nice corner room, clean and very well maintained. Checkin was very friendly and helpful. Amazing breakfast with many options. Only downside is the Bar next to the lobby - we asked for Gin and Tonic at 22:45 but we’re refused as the „Bar is closing“ we were offered only beer and wine - despite the fact that the bar is open until midnight?!? We were not the only guest who got this answer…

This is a very nice hotel with about 14 floors. Located right next to the Amstel and not far from the train station, you can easily commute to downtown Amsterdam. Alternatively you can walk to Amsterdam downtown along either side of the Amstel, pass nice modern condominiums before they gradually turn into the old, characteristically Dutch houses. The direct vicinity is rather blend, some green, some housing. The rooms are immaculate, the staff very friendly, and the food (dinner) very tasty, somewhat on the pricy side. Breakfast is served buffet style and has many tasty dishes to choose from!

Modern rooms. Really clean rooms, nice baths. Food served for breakfast very good: u have everything you need. Employees very nice and helpful. Location is ok: close to the metro station, easy to get to and from airport.

The dark aesthetic of the rooms is lovely. Lighting design is also nice, overall very relaxing atmosphere. The hotel massage is also excellent. There are adaptors available for purchase. The bathroom mirror is a bit weird - there is a blurry and useless round mirror right in the center of the actual rectangle mirror and you need to crouch down to actually see yourself. The soundproofing can be improved, you can hear people talking in the hallways, and when people knocked on / entered the door next to mine it always sounded like they were entering my room which was kind of stressful. The environment is quaint, not much around but easy to order delivery if you are not using the restaurants.

What a fantastic hotel. 3-4 minute walk to train (can see the station from hotel) and 10-11 minutes into centre - very simple and super efficient.. The hotel itself is one of the best in Amsterdam and I’ve stayed in the big ones in Dam Square… The rooms are very elegant with nice views and very modern and comfortable , the breakfast was superb and the bar very nice. The Spa was really good also and staff brilliant, I wouldn’t even consider another hotel next time we go…..Fantastic

I received a message from booking saying that I have not paid the city taxes and breakfast, which is incorrect since we paid for breakfast right at the moment it was brought to the room, we did not pay the city taxes because we live in Amsterdam and no one asked for it since checking in at the hotel the receptionist checked my husband's identity card and saw the adress . And when we did the check out we asked if everything is allright and they said yes and we gave back the key of the room and left . I called the hotel to try to fix it but they couldn't help even though I gave them information about the waiter who brought us breakfast and made the payment I asked for the manager the receptionist and said she wasn't at the hotel I asked when she or he will be at the hotel and she said she doesn’t know clearly she didn’t want to help me so I asked about her name and she refused to since she knew i was going to complain about her service and attitude. 2 minute later i called back and they put me through to the manager who said her name was Kelly, which was very strange since she wasn’t at the hotel 5 minutes ago and they didn't know when she was coming in either. It didn't help me either, they simply demanded proof as if we hadn't paid but if they did their job correctly I wouldn't have to put up with such unprofessional people who don't know how to do their job correctly and horrible customer service one of the worst experiences in amsterdam and that is difficult really disappointed and a great waste of energy and time the hotel is fine but the staff that works there ruins everything

I come here are least once a month when I am in town for business. I always select this hotel because it is my far the best hotel in the area. People are friendly, rooms are clean and the breakfast is amazing. About 200 meters of the metro station which will take you to the center of town in 10-15 min. You also have 24 hour pizza at your disposal.

We arrived 00.30 room 12th floor at the hotel and nobody was at the reception, two full tattoo guys looking not as guest at all joined our elevator and aggressive ask use our door card, I ask use yours they say I cant find so told them leave the lift. They start argu but I am a serious big guy worked in security and not afraid and when they realized I was not afraid at all they left the lift! I wonder how this is possible no security for a 4 star hotel in Amsterdam with open doors all at night? If my wife was Alone she for sure now got big big problems. I told them leave the lift now or I help you and they did and er at the room called 911 to protect other people. what a shame she felt very afraid I told her dont worry! But she was right was not pleasant stay in a hotel with this experience

Our stay was good only the reception was not very kind. We booked the suite and hoped that we could use the sauna of the hotel after check out. This was not possible due to their terms. I talked to a bald guy at the reception who was very salty and not friendly at all.

I am really disappointed in this hotel and their customer service. We booked this trip back in 2020 for my parents anniversary. We paid 1040€ for 4 nights including with breakfast. As we all know global pandemic happened so we had to reschedule the booking multiple times. When my parents arrived in the hotel, finally in 2022 for their late anniversary celebration, the staff told them that no breakfast is included anymore. I spoke to the manager – Kelly van Parera – unfortunately she would keep interrupting me when I would explain the situation and her tone wasn’t friendly at all. I showed the confirmation from booking.com from 2020 which clearly says its included with breakfast but she wouldn’t recognize that point. Her point of view was that because we changed the booking multiple times, at some point we have agreed that it is without breakfast and that usually the booking wouldn’t be able to change the date at all but they did an exception for us. Which really surprised me to hear because a global pandemic happened…In my opinion even if it was -mistakenly - changed to without breakfast at some point, the price should be less, but it remained at the original 1040€ which we booked back in 2020 and paid for with breakfast. At the end of the day its not about the money or the breakfast for us but it is about how we were treated, that we were interrupted and the conversation wasn’t friendly at all. So, we are disappointed in the customer service of this hotel so wouldn’t go there again. Lastly also because the reception staff were really rude to my parents about this.

It would have been five stars all around as there are plenty of maintained and nice amenities available and the rooms are very modern, clean and stylish. The location, though close to a train (5 to 8 min walk), is removed from the city. So if being in the middle of things is your thing, then avoid. If being a little outside for a well kept hotel is your thing, try it out.

Really modern hotel with very nice and attentive staff, clean and comfy rooms and conveniently located close to a metro station, which takes you directly into the city centre in 10 minutes. Would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay there again if I'm in the area the next time. Worth a stay!

Lovely amazing hotel with clean and spacious rooms. Outdoor pool was very peaceful and relaxing. Hotel is a 5 minute walk to the station with easy access to the centre of Amsterdam. All the staff were very polite and friendly at the reception desk, exceptional service from Karim and Abu. Will deffinetly book again.

One of the most comfortable beds we have slept on along with soffitel Luxembourg. Great views of the canal, 3 minute walk from the station which is only 4 stops from "dam square" and dam central. Stylish restaurant with quality food , best breakfast and friendly staff. Steam room was brilliant better than some 5 star hotels who set the steam to go off every 24 hours 😂 this hotel was not stingy on steam! Would definitely stay again highly recommended.

First of all: I'm sure others can have a 5 star experience in this hotel. For us it was 4 because of several reasons: on our arrival our room was smelling from the sink. We needed to inform the reception twice until an action was taken but it's fair to say that then housekeeping was taking care of the issue very fast and they have been absolutely friendly. The room itself was clean and as expected. Cleaning service on our first day was very late (around 5pm). What we loved was the 24h pizza service and the pizzas themselves were really good!! Also the breakfast was good and offered choices for every taste. The fitness and pool area was one of the reasons we booked our room at the van der valk Hotel but unfortunately it was quite crowded most of the time. What really annoyed us were the elevators - sometimes it took several minutes until an elevator arrived. All in all we had a very good stay and as I said I'm sure it can be a 5star one for others.

Perfect experience, very good breakfast, Gym has all that a man needs, bed is comfy, shower starts immediately, show gels and shampoos are their also skin care is there, view is perfect. Breakfast is amazing. Staff very friendly and helpful. There is a pool 2 restaurants and a wellness center, everything what your heart desires. One of the best experiences İ have had in hotels.

I chose this because it was close to the airport for a decent price. I was a bit upset the shuttle service wasn't offered until after 5p. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was ok for dinner as it was the only option in the area. Overall decent for a layover for my son and I

Amazing hotel. The rooms and facilities aren’t massive but they’re very well designed and well managed. Even the little touches, like having real conditioner provided, was much appreciated. The wellness spa was also great. Well worth the money.

This is one of the best hotels in the Amsterdam area with really good amenities. The location is farther away from downtown. But it is about 7 minute walk away from the train station. From there just 30 minutes ride to downtown. Because it is somewhat remote, it is also very quite and great for recovery. Hotel is very well furnished, with modern lighting and big walkin shower. The bed is very comfortable. There is a nice indoor pool with water jets, spa, sauna, and fitness center, all included with the stay. The train ride to and from the airport can be a bit confusing, so be sure to pick up a map. Overall very good value for the price.

Unbelievable hotel. Loved everything about it. So much value in the price. The spa area was exquisite (and free!) - gym and breakfast were also top-notch. Amazing deal for the price. Just a bit of a commute into the central area of town. There is a metro station 5-7 min walk from the hotel, though.

We had a great stay, a good mix of tourism and relaxation. Very convenient Metro stop a short walk away, quick transit into central AMS. The hotel is very smart, the rooms are really nice and comfortable. The spa and pool are also worth a visit, as are the bar and restaurants. Staff are really helpful and friendly. There is an underground car park (about 20€ per day) but if you are lucky enough to find a space outside, the parking is free from 4pm on Friday until Monday morning.

Great hotel a little on the outside of town. But just 2-300 meters from the metro which takes you downtown in 15 min. The breakfast is really nice with a huge variety of choices. The rooms (junior suite) were excellent.

Weeks before my trip I had booked a room with breakfast for 1 person in this hotel. However, a few days before check-in I received an email that said I shouldn't forget to book breakfast because it would be more expensive if I do it on arrival. This confused me and I thought I didn't have any breakfast booked. During check-in, they went through my booking and repeated the room I asked for, but not a word about breakfast. I say I'm checking in a secondary person who will share the room with me. Everyday we went to the McDonald's around the corner to get breakfast. However during checkout I was charged an additional 75 euros for breakfast that they just assumed we wanted. In total we paid for €150 breakfast and didn't have a single bite. The staff said there was nothing to do about it and I had to pay for it anyway. Bad communication, they were rather unfriendly to us as well. The room was very pretty though, they deserve credit for that.

  • 1/5 Arslan T. 1 year ago on Google
Worst ever hotel experience. It all started with a funny "deposit" 250 euro for the suite, although it was already paid. If you ask for umbrella, they will charge you 10 euro, although they know your room number and have this deposit. Staff is really rude. On a third day of my stay they started to knock at my door, and ask my wife and daughter to leave, because we had a small dog. On a third day... this was never a secret, we went in and out with a dog. I was on a conference, and had to rush to a hotel, where my daughter was in tears and didn't understand what was going on. This hotel is not about hospitality at all. Absolutely do not recommend. Surprisingly Van der Valk is a family business, usually you would expect a really good attitude, but their staff ruined all the experience. Also, each time we went to a breakfast, 4 out of 5 times we had to wait because they could not either find us or count guests or I don't know what. Dinner at restaurant was also bad, chicken was old...again, worst experience out of hundreds hotels I was in
