I read many bad reviews. And I am sorry for those who had a bad experience. But our stay was quietly fine. This problem with check_in/check_out that many mentioned, we didn't face. There was a receptionist sitting there every day till at least 19 Uhr. Before arriving at the hotel, because I had read that there would be a problem with late checking in and so, I was a little bit afraid. But everything went so smoothly. We had also no problems with room service and cleaning issues. They cleaned our room. The room was small and we knew that already as we reserved it. There was some small problem in the bathroom, but not at all something dramatic. The ceramic at the bath floor was done poorly, as the water in some spots did not go directly to the water waste hole, and you should have wiped it away with water wiper, which was there for this reason. We did not eat breakfast there, as we ate all the time outside. So, I have no idea how this works by this hotel. With just 20 minutes of walks you can reach every interesting spot that someone wishes. All and all, it was not a chicky-micky hotel, but we also did not expect something chick. We were in Amsterdam to stay outside and see the city. For this purpose it is completely fine.

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel in no way did it state you had to be 21 during the booking process. My boyfriend found out while reading reviews so clearly we are not the only person that has been caught with this. The staff was rude while emailing not helpful at all, one member of staff said wed be refunded while another said we wouldnt. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody money wasted for nothing. Ive learned from other people that the location is also not great.

This review is honest and real : The reception of the hotel is a real scam, never book there, once arrived at the address of the "Budget Max Hotel" there was a small sign that explained that it was necessary to go 3km further to check in another hotel NOT WITH THE SAME NAME. Once there, the receptionist welcomed us and explained that she was refusing us access to the hotel and that it was not refundable due to age even though we are legally adults in Amsterdam. No sympathy or politeness, when we received the fact that we could not stay or be reimbursed, she explicitly asked us to leave the place because we were not invited. EVEN THOUGH WE HAD A WELL-PAID RESERVATION! Never go to Max Hotel, real cheap, REAL SCAM

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL IF YOU ARE UNDER 21 YEARS OF AGE, me and my girlfriend booked this hotel on booking.com and we kindly asked for a refund due to this situation. This is clearly a money scam I’ve seen numerous of reviews saying this, This is how we’ve found out we are extremely upset and there has been no help whatsoever. When my girlfriend was booking she was asked for identification and her age so I don’t know why the payment wasn’t cancelled straight away when they saw we’ve made a booking!!!! The images on booking.com are totally different also to the images on there actual website!

I had a horrible experience at this hotel. I booked this hotel through Agoda since I saw a good review at Agoda. It is in a bad neighborhood. When I paid cash at the supermarket, teen agers were asking money to me. I see the light of the parking place just 3 meters from the hotel and I could see the parking place from the hotel room. I thought it belongs to the hotel and parked. There were nothing written about no parking anywhere. At 8:30 am in the morning, the cleaning lady knocked my door and she was in rush. I left hotel with rush but realized that I left my ear ring. But as soon as I left(before the check out time) my code of the hotel was blocked and I cannot get back. I went to the parking place, but the gate was totally shuttered. Even one fly cannot come in. I was in shock. I called the hotel. The owner of the hotel said it is my fault and my problem. I said I admit it is my mistake that I thought it was the parking place of the hotel but I need to take out my car. She shouted to call the owner of the building. I said I don't know who is the owner and I begged her if she can at least help me to translate. She shouted to me that it is your problem and hung up. I knocked every door in the morning of Sunday in the building and finally when someone came out with the key, I cried and cried. I cried for a long time from the relief and stress. The owner of this hotel or manager, treated me terribly when I really needed help as a guest. Imagine that I was attacked by the teenagers yesterday, she might also told me it is your problem and solve by yourself. Don't stay this hotel for your own safety. The owner is a horrible person. It is also pity that Agoda doesn't filter this kind of place and just allow to register themselves as like a good place. I submitted my complaint to Agoda first before I leave the review and waited for the reaction of the hotel but I haven't heard anything back from the hotel. It was not worth to give the chance to explain to the hotel.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. This "hotel", if it can be called as such, is a scam. The price is way too high considering the small sized rooms and the lack of services (no staff whatsoever, no answer on phone, no iron,...), even regarding the location. The rooms were not clean, the dust kept triggering my asthma and they were holes in the mattress, yellow stains on the bedsheets,... The shower had mold on the ceiling and angles, which is not quite reassuring in a hotel. Even the hotel itself is weirdly thought: no lift only stairs, check-in and out in another hotel, cards sometimes just decide not to work anymore and keep you locked out, soap dispensers dripping over the ground,... Oh and of course, papers indicating there is breakfast 8 to 10am, which from what we have been told later, "is surely old stickers information, for I am pretty sure Hotel MAX never did breakfast". Finally, some pictures available above are not from the hotel, or at least not anymore. So yeah, avoid if you can. You can find much better for much less money.

Location was great but this is just private rooms with a bathroom. No hotel services not even a kettle in the room, the room was small but okay for couple of nights. No Lift and a lot of steep stairs.

Absolutely awful company. Avoid at all costs. Unhelpful customer service. Have taken my money regardless of not being suitable due to not accepting under 21 years olds. We are going on a family holiday. Realised within 10 mins of booking and they will not redund a penny. Disgusting behaviour. Horrible company

Me and my partner stayed here for a few nights after reading the reviews was a bit apprehensive about the stay but the staff was lovely and polite, the rooms were adequate for the purpose yes they were a little small and at times you could hear noise through the wall but they were clean and the bed was comfy and we didn't have any problems through our stay. The location is perfect close to the centre and a shop just a minute away.

STAY AWAY. Rooms are extremely small. You won't be able to open two pieces of luggage at the same time. There is barely space to walk into the room. The toilet is inside the shower. The walls are so thin you can hear everything happening in the hotel. The room was cold as the heating was off all the time. Finally, the windows are not insulated, so you can hear people talking on the road: good luck with sleeping.

😐 It is a large, somewhat impersonal, completely unshaded and extremely noisy campsite (we were in the tented section).Noisy because there is a large multi-lane bridge nearby, which is still very busy at night. Also noisy because of the "cigarette smokers". There are no rules and regulations - or if t...
