Vegan and Japanese cuisine usually do not add up much. Sure, there are numerous vegan Japanese dishes but meat and fish are the backbone of the majority of Japanese recipes. As such, the Men Impossible completely blew my mind. A top-star rated Japanese food place that only serves vegan options? Consider me intrigued. The owners and staff are real Japanese, friendly and kind. The seating options are unique and social. But most importantly, the food is absolutely delicious. Meat-lovers such as myself will find this a very welcome alternative to broaden their horizons. 5-stars. Visit it. You won't regret it.

This is a review as a Japanese. This is definitely the evolution of Japanese ramen taste and presentation. The staff's detailed explanations and hospitality were excellent and made the food even more appealing. Anyway everything was perfect. Highly recommended for anyone coming to Amsterdam.

I will cherish this experience for a long time. The chef lives through food and you can really feel it in his dishes and the way he presents them. The balance and contrasts between all the different ingredients is carefully crafted to create perfect harmony. It was so delicious and it made me feel really restored. A true "restaurant", a hidden gem of haute cuisine. Thank you again. 🙏

    - need to reserve in advance - only possible to choose the katsu or tempura menu (34€ unless you are here for lunch or take out) - fine dining experience -a big table where you sit next to other people directly -food do taste good. The white garlic is very strong and salty in taste. Truffle is really worth it and it is unique.

We had a wonderful time at Men Impossible! The menu is very innovative and the food super tasty. The portions are just of the right size to try everything without feeling too stuffed at the end or overwhelmed by flavours. The price/quality ratio is one of a kind in Amsterdam city centre!

Tried the red & white amaze sauce ramen, wow! The noodles have a very good texture and the sauce is very creamy. The only thing I would change, is the amount of fried onions. That could have been a little bit less because the sauce is already packed with a lot of flavour. Also, there was a one day pop up with Takoyaki Ya and they served veggiyaki. Tasty! Would love to go there again when the restaurant is open for dining.

It's the only fully vegan Ramen restaurant I have come across in Amsterdam and it is undoubtedly the best. I went there with friends and we ordered a standard menu for 34 euros which was served with one cold starter, one hot starter, main dish and dessert. You get unlimited tea on the side. Overall experience is great because everyone is sitting on a big table as gives you a feel of Japanese culture. I highly recommend this to Ramen lovers

They offered 2 menus, only the starter was different depending on which menu you choose, the main course and dessert are the same. The main course is the noodle with different flavors (e.g black garlic oil or chili oil etc). We tried both the tempura course and the katsu course, they were all tasty but they were all deep fried veggies with different kinds of sauce, I personally feel that, in the context of plant based & Japanese style, I was hoping to taste more of the freshness of the veggies with simple way of cooking. The ramen with black garlic oil was really good, strongly recommended it to people who like garlic taste. Drinks (water and hot tea) were included in the menu. The vibe of the restaurant was quite nice, people were sitting around a big table and sharing the common space, very friendly and welcoming staff.

Booked the restaurant from their online website. The booking process was easy. During our visit, the staffs were helpful and understanding. They gave you amazing recommendations while i was picking some Sake. They were knowledgeable on their foods! Food was definitely 5/5 🔥. We were served with 3 course meal with dessert. All of the dishes were spectacular. I will not spoil it for you, but you should come and get em! My favorites are tahini tofu and the Linzen ball. Price was worth the quality and experience. Would definitely come again.

Amazing experience watching the one chef cook the whole restaurants food so seamlessly. We had two lovely waitresses who were very attentive. Delicious food and a nice place to go as a pair or group!

It's not a Ramen Soup. More of a thick sauce. The Black Garlic dish has a very strong and unique taste which may not be for everyone... I liked it. The space feels a little like a storage space.

I've never tried vegan ramen before but this was definitely not going to be my last time. It was interesting to try and it was surprisingly very delicious. The ramen has a strong taste but not overwhelming. We've got some small dishes as well and everything was really good.

Authentic Japanese dining experience with AMAZING vegan ramen and super polite Japanese chef (owner?) !! Strongly recommended! Best ramen!!! 6 star!! I’m a meat lover, but ddddaaaaaamn the food here is goooooood! Also tbh I forget that I’m in a vegan restaurant. It’s also quite fining dining experience with very friendly price! Two tasting menu to choose from, amazing sets of starters + ramen + dessert. Everything is sssooo perfectly cooked, creative, and the ramen is full of umami/flavors and the noodle is thick, firm and fresh!!!!! The dessert is light, refreshing. Mojicha tea is so delicious! I drank 2 bags! Atmosphere very elegant, minimalist. Service very attentive and friendly. Gotta love how polite Japanese people are! I definitely gonna visit more time!

I am not a regular Ramen person, nor a vegan, but this place was one my best food experiences in Amsterdam. The menu is perfectly curated with a blend of so many flavours. The ramen was sooo good, it instantly became my comfort food choice. Highly, highly recommended.

For lunch they have 2 types of ramen (all vegan): the signature ramen which is more sauce-like (and comes in 5 flavors) and a more typical soup-based ramen with miso. I had the sauce-like one with chili and garlic. The ramen was excellent. It was probably the best vegan ramen I have had and among the best ramen in general. I liked the thicker sauce and the different flavors and textures of the topings when mixing everything together. I thought the portion was small and got extra noodles (2.5€ only), however in hindsight it was not necessary since the ramen is very filling. The owner was very friendly and explained the different ramens for me. Reservation is mandatory for lunch and dinner and can be easily done online. Price of 14.5-16.5€ for ramen with unlimited water and tea is a great deal for Amsterdam. This place is definitely worth a visit!

I was looking for places to grab a bite before going to a comedy evening @boom chicago and I discovered this restaurant not to far from there. I forced 2 of my friends, who aren’t the biggest fans of vegan food, to eat here. We ordered their starter and the black burnt garlic ramen bowls on the chefs recommendation. Its safe to say that my friends were super happy I dragged them here. The food was bursting with flavors I don’t think i have ever experienced and in simple words was just plain amazing. Its located in a tiny street near Rozengracht. I came out of this place a happy and slightly overfilled man. 10/10 recommended.

Insanely delicious 4 course dinner. Love the Mazesoba and the courses aren’t heavy and complement one another perfectly. You leave satisfied and full with a strong desire to return. Perfect for any occasion.

My wife and I had a great experience here. The place was very cozy and the food was delectable. My wife’s favorite was the takoyaki because it reminded her of her childhood and she hasn’t gotten nostalgia like that since going vegan. Highly recommend checking this place out. Be sure to book in advance and make sure you get a confirmation email, I had trouble with mine and they helped me out. They also took the time to reach out to me and refund me for something they overcharged me on when they did not have to do and I found really honest and commendable. Don’t skip this place if you’re in Amsterdam!

We were visiting from London and had one evening to dine out. The restaurant came very highly recommend as one of the best plant based options in Amsterdam so we decided to book it. It did not disappoint. The ambience and decor were lovely and intimate. The staff were knowledgeable and hospitable and went out of their way to make our experience a great one. The food was amazing, each course was delicious. I am still dreaming of the ramen now I’m back home. We will definitely be back the next time we visit Amsterdam.

Just had an incredible dinner at Men Impossible, and I'm still smiling from the experience! This place is a hidden gem for anyone who loves plant-based cuisine or just great food in general. The vibe here is so cozy and welcoming. It's like you're stepping into a little oasis in the city. The decor is simple but warm, making you feel right at home. It's perfect for a chill dinner with friends or even a special date night. Now, let's talk food because, wow, it's amazing! The menu is strictly plant-based, but trust me, you won't miss the meat at all. The Cold Starter with Pickled Cucumber and Carrot Cashew Nut Mousse was so fresh and tasty, and the Sesame Tofu was out of this world. For the Warm Starters, the Eggplant Tempura and Zucchini Tempura were my favorites - crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. But also the Seitan Katsu and the Vegan Shrimp 🦐 ! are really good. The main event was the Sauce Ramen "AMAZE Men." Each flavor option brings something special to the table. I tried the Black Burnt Garlic and the white garlic, and both were mind-blowingly good. The noodles were just perfect, and the broths were rich and full of flavor. The creme brulee matcha was an amazing dessert. Tea and water go's with each of the four courses, if you like you can try their Japanese craft beers and sake. (Alcohol disclaimer). Friends told me they pair perfectly with the meal. The staff deserves a shoutout too. They were so friendly and helpful, explaining and making sure we had everything we needed. Overall, dining at Men Impossible was an unforgettable experience. It's a must-visit in Amsterdam for anyone who appreciates delicious, creative, plant-based food. I'm already planning my next visit

Never tried vegan ramen without a soup base before, so this was already surprising to me. The different textures with this vegan ramen will give you that new experience of eating ramen and the mushroom has that feel of a poached egg. It was flavorful on all aspect and would definitely come back.

Love the vibe and the staffs are super friendly! The potion of the food is definitely worth the price, but every dishes are a bit too salty, that is the only unfortunate. And the desert is not refreshing enough after eating so much salty food.

Food was incredible, loved the option of a sauce or soup based ramen. I was with my partner so of course we chose and enjoyed both together! It really makes a difference when ramen is made with fresh noodles and I loved the unique flavours of both dishes. Staff were also so friendly. Would love to return next time I visit Amsterdam!

Absolutely amazing! This was the best ramen experience I've ever had in my life. Being a vegan for so long, it's been incredibly hard to find a 100% plant-based ramen place with this level of quality. I flew all the way from Switzerland and I can’t wait to come back again.

Instantly became my favourite vegan restaurant - EVER. We went there walking by a cold winter night hoping to seat-in. Little did we know this place only takes reservations. This sad surprise was instantly forgotten when we entered the restaurant to pursue our idea and order to take-away. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and the very kind and smiling Japanese chef. Genuinely felt like they were super happy to see us! We took two different sauces , the black burnt garlic and the red hot chili pepper. The two of them were very distinct in taste but extremely similar on one pecific point: they were pure delight. #$%## amazing! I almost stole the meal of my GF cause I couldn't get enough. Best vegan restaurant I've tried so far, and probably the best I will ever try. If only I could cook something half as delicious. Keep rocking guys! I'll come back for more!

Amazing tasting menu for vegan japanese food. This menu is well thought out and is delicious, I'll be recommending place to friends & checking out the London pop-up! Absolutely lovely service as well, explanation of all the dishes was an added bonus.

Nice to have vegan ramen! Authentic and unique Japanese rame courses/dishes. There is a really nice atmosphere in the restaurant. There is one big table to sit and eat at and there is a spot for two persons at the front of the restaurant. Kitchen is open en staff is very friendly.

A small tip: please try to make a reservation in advance, it’s not a big restaurant, probably walk-in is not a good option here. If you are a vegetarian / vegan, this restaurant is definitely a 4 or even 5 stars ⭐️. For meat lovers: if you want to try once Japanese ramen in a vegetarian way of cooking, this restaurant could be a good option. Personally, I would rate it 3.5 stars ⭐️. 1.5 stars ⭐️ are for the food and the Chef (the soul of a restaurant). The minus points for me are: 1. the “Vinegared Cucumber” is a bit over sour(maybe serve it with less dip/sauce?); 2. the seitan katsu has a quite strong taste of beans(maybe serve it with stronger taste sauce, ie. Curry sauce?); 3. the dessert shiruko is a bit too sweet (maybe less sugar and more coconut flakes, to enhance the taste of coconut?). 1 star ⭐️ is for the service. They are very friendly and explain every dish properly. Also, you don’t need to wait for ages for your food, which is quite good according to my opinion. 1 star ⭐️ is for the location. It is located in a small street in the Jordaan area, and not difficult to find.

What an incredible experience. The food is all made in front of you, incredibly delicious and so so yummy. One table to share with all the guests and it’s surprisingly very private. Adorable place, adorable service and memorable food. My new favorite in town.

Everything we had was delicious, both the katsu and the tempura courses were incredible but the black garlic ramen, in my opinion, was just AMAZING! Super creamy and full of flavour, I would highly recommend it if you are in Amsterdam. Thanks to the Chef Akihiro Hara for this impossibly delicious meal, you can tell the love and passion he puts into his work. I can’t wait to go back. A small note, try to get there on an empty stomach because it’s way more filling than it looks

  • 5/5 Mathijs 1 year ago on Google
The chef at Men Impossible is truly passionate about his work, and this very much shows in the food served. The katsu and the tempura courses are both phenomenal and highly innovative. Dishes that traditionally contained meat or fish have been thoughtfully recreated in a vegan style. All of the different dishes are amazingly tasty and the service makes you feel welcomed and at home. This place really is unique and for anyone who enjoys Japanese cuisine this is a must visit.

Vegan Japanese food with a set menu. Friendly hosts who will present you with a paper crane at check out. The menu is well-put-together, and the starters consist of small bites. The truffle noodles are my favorite noodles. Be aware of making a reservation before visiting.

  • 3/5 Johnny L. 1 year ago on Google
I found people working in store very polite and approachable. We ordered take out as the restaurant was fully booked. The restaurant was very accommodating. However, the white truffle noodle was way too salty. Katsu was very tasty. Takoyaki was a bit salty and tasted a touch too smoky/burned. If I come back to Amsterdam again, I likely will try their dinner menu and the red hot chilly noodle. I have to say I was a bit disappointed this time.

  • 5/5 Danilo C. 1 year ago on Google
I loved this place, very cozy, friendly staff and awesome food. I'm not vegan and although it was all plant based, I did not miss meat at all. The food is rich in flavor, the black garlic ramen though a bit too salty for my taste, but still delicious. A must go place.

Excellent experience kind of like German beer hall style dining. You get to hang out and mingle with the people around you. Food is excellent, your taste buds will be pleasantly surprised. hopefully we can have some sukiyaki or some marinated Japanese food next time I visit. Owners and the service are fantastic.

The best ramen in town.. everything is homemade and you can see the owner/chef puts his heart into the dishes. It’s like traveling to Tokyo with taking a plane. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Thinh N. 2 years ago on Google
Super vegan ramen. I never had vegan ramen before but this one is super yummy and superior to all the normal ramens I have had so far! Besides, it’s not only the food but also the dining experience as a whole. Sitting at a big table with other guests gives a sense of communal dining, which is great. Exotic teas are on offer for free and the staff is super friendly and polite (in contrast to the Dutch customer service).

This was a beautiful dining experience with exceptional attention to detail in all areas. I visited on 25/01 and reserved around one week in advance. The food was incredible and I really appreciated the detailed introduction that the waiter(s) gave about each course. As a solo diner, I felt very welcomed by all the friendly staff who worked there, and it was lovely to chat with them too. Many thanks to everyone at Men Impossible for making my final evening in Amsterdam a memorable one - I hope to visit again soon!
