Booked online as the menu had vegan options. Great family owned restaurant with vegan options as well as plenty of the meat eaters. Good wine and great coffee

The ambiance and music is really on point. Not too strong to make it harder for you to speak nor too soft that it fades into the background. Service was great! Kinda quick tbh for so many things on the menu. Make a reservation to avoid the hassle of waiting outside. The food was delicious but very little offering. No chicken so only 1 lamb and rest all beef curries. In veg there are 5 I assume. Great teas and coffee! Their fig dessert is delicious too! Would definitely go again.

After a very long day of strolling around in Amsterdam, my friends and me were looking for a nice restaurant to fill our empty stomaches. We found this restaurant near the city center. As soon as we entered this place we were welcomed by the warm and cozy atmosphere of the restaurant. One of my friends and me shared a big plate of Injera with a lot of different vegetables and sauces. The other one had Chicken, in a very addictive sauce, with couscous and some side dishes. All of us were more than happy about the food, it was the best choice to go to the Kilimanjaro Restaurant. The waitress who served us, is the daughter and niece of the two cooks, who put their heart and soul into making the dishes. We all felt more than welcome in this restaurant and we'll definitely come back when we visit Amsterdam! We didn't take pictures of the food, because we wanted to eat it right away, the smell alone was so good. Thank you so much Kilimanjaro Restaurant

The place is really good and very authentic. The food is not cheap but I think it’s a reasonable price to pay. The staff is very kind and helpful when chosing the dishes and the chef was so nice with us. Explained a lot of things. Definetly will come back

Unusual tastes, like home atmosphere, with a lot of visual artifacts around, and Ethiopian psychedelic music in the background. Making food takes time, be patient. If you're in a hurry, better find another place. This one is more for a long relaxed evening. I ordered a Mixed Injera. That's a big pancake with different toppings on it. Most of the toppings were quite spicy, so ask your waitress if not sure.

Cute little authentic restaurant with great food, great service and a great atmosphere. I really enjoyed the mango beer in particular; I'd never had something like it before.

Absolutely delightful! This hole-in-the-wall African restaurant delivers unique and delicious flavors from across Africa. I could not have enjoyed my meal more. The traditional Egyptian lamb soup (spicy) exceeded expectations and paired well with the soothing home-made honey beverage. The peanut-based beef stew also did not disappoint. Note that the pace of service at this cozy restaurant is slow by design. My meal took 2.5 hours and that was just fine. This is a great spot for a date, conversation, and people watching. When the weather is good, there is outside seating. The restaurant is deservedly popular. To avoid a long wait, arrive when they open.

Welcome to ancient culture in a dish, wish I had photos of our gorgeous meal and dessert😋 Soooo Delicious!!! Although fully satiated, we couldn’t resist dessert. This is literally the Best East African food experience I’ve had outside of Tanzania. (No kidding) also very affordable. Excited to join again soon😘chef’s kiss 💚 Amazing

Hands down the best restaurant experience I ever had. The food was amazingly flavorful and tons of options for people with dietary restrictions and intolerances. Moreover, the staff is extremely friendly. The cherry on top is the feeling that the food they serve comforts you and warms you up. Came back twice just to fully immerse ourselves in the menu and the amazing atmosphere. Highly recommend the homemade ginger beer and the Mafe.

I love this place 🥹 it’s hard to find good Ethiopian food in Amsterdam especially when you come from a city (Oakland, California) where there is a large Ethiopian community and lots of amazing Ethiopian food options. But I keep coming back here! They always get the food right, it’s full of deep flavors, staff are friendly, drinks are good, and they’ve even given me free cake before when the delivery was slow 🥰 Can’t wait to try their shrimp, too bad they don’t deliver this one, please change that :) But I’ll be back in person soon!

Visited during my trip to Amsterdam. It is a tiny restaurant, tucked away on a quiet street. I would recommend making a reservation as we arrived at 5.30pm on a Sunday and got one of the last tables. The food takes a while to come out but you can tell it’s all freshly made. Incredible food, lovely cosy atmosphere, and great service. We had the Lamb soup, beef mafe and lamb tagine - would recommend!

came here for dinner based on a recommendation from a local and the food did not disappoint. everything we had was absolutely amazing and this was easily one of the best meals I’ve ever had. We recommend the fish tajine and the prawns in peri peri sauce. It does take a bit for the food to come out but it literally makes note of that in the menu and it’s so worth it in the end.

Visiting Amsterdam on a rainy November Sunday and headed here for dinner. Very much a small family restaurant with about 8 tables. I went about 530 and it was empty but started filling up around 615 so I would consider a reservation. I had a lamb dish which was excellent. An enjoyable dinner with out of the ordinary food.

We were there yesterday and it was the most lovely experience in a restaurant we had for quite a while. The food was delicious and incredibly well made. What really made the evening for me however, was the kind and lovely service! We have been advised and made feel welcome in such an honest and kind way and taken care of with so much attention, me and my friend walked out with a smile. Thank you for that, we will recommend en certainly be back quickly for the rice dishes 😊

What a meal. Do NOT miss. From the host to the Ethiopian cloth on the tables, from the wooden napkin holders to the insane food. The host was incredible (so warm, friendly, accommodating), her mother is the chef and you really do get a taste explosion! The injeraa was made to perfection- we ordered the mix injera which meant we got to try all of the wonderful dishes - each with their own unique flavours. We said it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had!

We found this lovely little restaurant by chance on our first evening in Amsterdam. The food was absolutely amazing (and great for vegetarians) and the family running it is lovely. We hadn't booked a table, but we arrived early and they managed to accommodate us ...but we'd book next time to be sure of a table. We 100% recommend this restaurant if you're in Amsterdam.

An authentic small family restaurant that makes you feel very welcome! The waitress made every effort to create a unique dining experience. The food itself was truly special with flavours you won't find in a lot of other restaurants.

We ate in Kilimanjaro while visiting Amsterdam with my sister last week. None of us had Ethiopian food previously but will definitely be having it more often now. Food in Kilimanjaro was full of flavour, fresh and exciting. We had mixed vegan injera which I definitely recommend to anyone. Ginger beer was also lovely. I liked there was a decent choice for vegetarians and vegans. The lady who was serving us was very nice and explained exactly what was on our plate and how to eat this meal properly. Again, hats off to the cook - food was amazing. If we ever get a chance to come back to Amsterdam, we will definitely come back to this restaurant to taste more.

Incredible food, great price - only needed one main course for the two of us (and a third person with a smaller appetite could’ve joined and it would still have been plenty of food), the chef came up to us to tell us she’d recommend starting with one main course as she thought two would be way too much and we would waste food. She was right and we were grateful she told us beforehand!

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price. Was surprised to see this large restaurant buzzing at 5pm (both inside and outside!) but after seeing the fresh fish on display and trying the sashimi which just melts in the mouth I understood why. The staff were also very well-...
