We ate here on Valentine’s Day and have mixed feelings. We reserved online in advance, but were still seated at the bar, which was a bit of a bummer when we were hoping to have a romantic evening. We asked if we could perhaps sit at a table, and were told it was not possible. We were instead seated at the bar directly in front of the waitstaff station with zero privacy and staff taking calls, etc. I would definitely heed the restaurant to update their reservation system so guests are aware of the type of seating. When we left, there were still empty tables all around us (photo). The food was good but honestly we didn’t stick around for more than a few plates as it definitely wasn’t the vibe we were going for on a special occasion. We went to a wine bar down the street instead for a more date-like vibe.

Delicious seafood restaurant with excellent service from friendly staff. It's not very well known as it's outside of the touristy area, but we are so fortunate and so glad that we found it, because it's truly a treat and a local gem that you should not miss.

The place name is Ceviche XD has a short but well executed menu. I would take the fish cake out of the menu, those are terrible. The rest was great. Also stay away from their tequila. Who drinks corralejo blanco? Really. Wine selection is also short but well chosen. Service was very good considering the Ducth standards.

Amazing! Everything was absolutely delicious! The ceviche was full of flavours and fresh, the fish cakes are a no miss and the octopus was super juicy. The cocktails were nice, but nothing special. The staff is super friendly, our order got mixed up so we had to wait a very long time for our food, but definitely worth it. A bit pricey and the portions are not big

Nice and cozzy. They are nice and the ceviches were good, with a twist. Great menu in pandemic times too! Keep it up! Hope I can enjoy a good dinner soon properly.

We had so much fun eating all the seafood here. & Because the cocktail is inexpensive( we are from San Francisco) so the cocktail for us is one after another. Love the food. ( Octopus fan) Love the vibe. Love it even it's a quite Monday night. We believe you would love it

I love this place! Even though they have a very limited menu, everything is amazing so this makes you addictive to them easily🤗 Especially hotdoctopus is a very good reason to visit this place every now and then. It’s very creative and delicious way of eating octopus for sure😋 The cocktails are also nicely prepeared with signutare recipes! Overall nice restaurant for a dinner-out with friends or a date. If the weather is nice then you can also enjoy cosy and relatively less noisy terrace with a canal view. Lastly the prices are average compared to similar places in Amsterdam.

We had dinner here with friends on a Friday night: the menu has not too many options but all really tasty: we went for the ceviche (of course), and we had fishcakes 5 time, since we all loved it. As main we tried both the options with octopus and fries. Lemon tarte ad dessert,. and then drinks, lots of drinks: a pisco sour as aperitivo, then a bottle of suavignon and one of Chardonnay (a little pricey IMHO), out of a spectacular dinner otherwise. Overall a great night and a place I will try again!

It has a modern seafood/fish based menu with variety of small dishes and main dishes. I’ve been there twice and it was never a disappointment. It has a very cosy vibe with both indoor and outdoor seating. We ordered Oysters, classic ceviche, bread butter, fries and hotdoctopus. For me hotdoctopus was a very unique dish and absolutely yummy. Definitely recommended.

All the fish dishes we tried were nice. Ceviche was ok, but pulpo was amazing! Service is finally good and the atmosphere was cozy and lovely. Definitely a place to come back

A popular eating place with quite a small menu to choose from but is welcoming to guests as we don’t have to crack our heads over what to order. Can be loud and noisy when the place is filled. Ceviche pretty good.

A Dutch pub, but with quite nice food, a totally unexpected discovery! Ceviches are full of flavour, very nice, but maybe a bit too acid for my taste. We also had octopus hotdog of which I was a bit ambiguous in the beginning, but it turned out to be really nice. The cocktails are also worth your attention. The staff was attentive, the orders came timely, so no concerns here.

Had a lovey Friday night dinner at Sjefietshé. It’s a very cozy and great vibe. The special was a marinated cod with lemon butter sauce with a special fruit from Japan. Absolutely amazing and fresh. I recommend the Thai ceviche with a mezcal margarita. The staff are accommodating for allergies as well (gluten free). Will return soon!

Recently I have picked up on Peruvian cuisine, and trying ceviches is a thing for me now. So if you are looking for some great ceviche and Peruvian food then hands down you should try this place. Amazing food, and natural wine to pair with it. We tried the Japanese and Thaise Ceviche , together with white natural wine. We also tried octopus hotdog and it was amazing.

We had three ceviches (traditional, thai and japanese) and some fries. It is a tapas concept, which makes it pricey to fill up, but the dishes were excellent and worth the price. The traditional and thai ceviche were amazing, the mango and coconut sauce in the thai one adding a really interesting element to an otherwise very traditional dish! The japanese ceviche was good, but we thought it was a bit too sweet and lacked a crunch that is otherwise characteristic of the dish, but it was definitely a fusion of the two cusines. Overall really recommend this place!!

Had a lovely dinner at Sjefietshé yesterday evening. Staff is attentive and really friendly. Food was tasty. Cocktails are strong, they could use some more garnish, presentation to them. Will definitely return.

This is a great little seafood restaurant on the edge of De Pijp. The atmosphere here is warm, friendly, and cosy. Nestled in on a small table, we had excellent service throughout our meal. Whilst I'll admit I'd already looked at the menu and eyed up their Hotdoctopus dish, the ceviche and fresh fish of the day were hands down the winners. Great wine and cocktails, too!

I just got home from a wonderful evening at this restaurant. The staff was very friendly and quick. Wonderful cocktails and great wine. We ordered a delicious octopus dish and the fishcakes was so tasty. The sardines with toast also wonderful. The mixed cheviche was one of the best i had. We will be back for sure.

Amazing food and super friendly staff! I’ve had one of the tastiest food in a while. I love the limited menu. Especially the hotdococtopus is a must try at Sjefietshé. We went for the Thai Ceviche, Hotdoctopus, Cod and passionfruit lemon pie as dessert. Spectacular dinner at a great place. Already looking forward to return to Amsterdam.

Great South American food. Super love the Hotdoctopus. The combination of the ingredients (Chipotle Mayo + Fresh Pickles) was very well balanced. Burrata and Ceviche were very fresh. Service was good. Definitely would come back to try other stuff on the menu.

Liked the atmosphere, personnel was super friendly, food and wine was amazing! Tried the cocktail - espresso martini mezcal - crazy! (sadly, don't have a picture). Definitely recommend, if you would like to try something new or just spend a nice afternoon/dinner in a good atmosphere :)

Visited here as part of the "le food walk" tour. Service wasnt the best. we handed our card to the waiter whilst waiting outside and he said the food will be brought out to us. 20 minutes later, we still hadnt received our food yet whereas customers who arrived after us and are on the same food tour, got their food already! The food, a crab or some other seafood croquettes were ok. nothing special but not too bad. I'm not a fan of coriander and the inside was filled with coriander so personally I wasn't a big fan
