Phu Thai in Amsterdam is a true Thai foodie haven. This cozy restaurant offers a welcoming and homely ambiance. The food is simply amazing, and the portions are quite generous without hurting your wallet. Don't miss their Pad See Ew (Stir fried rice noodles), a dish that is hard to find in Amsterdam. The side dishes are equally impressive, and the open kitchen adds to the overall charm. For a delightful and authentic Thai dining experience, Phu Thai is a must visit.

I have found my favorite Thai restaurant in Amsterdam now. I used to go to another one in the center, but after discovering this one, I always come here. The taste and appearance are very authentic, and I'm so happy that I found it.

Authentic Thai cuisine with amazing staff. Although we waited for 30 minutes for our dishes, it’s worth the wait. The portion is massive and full of the aroma from proper wok style. My favourite is 31. Phad kraprauw with pork. It matches so well with rice. Pad Thai is a bit disappointing. I don’t think they use tamarind sauce but taste like ketchup. The staff is all super welcoming and nice. We couldn’t finish our dishes and would like a doggy bag. They took the dishes and put them into proper takeaway packaging.

Just steps away from Nieuwmarkt, Phu Thai, in Koningsstraat, is a Thai eatery specialising in "street food". In Thailand, the locals tend to prefer street food over restaurant fare, because it's usually more adventurous, aromatic, authentic and spicier. This small restaurant is spotlessly clean and has unassuming, almost spartan surroundings, accentuating the pictures on the walls and the cabinet with Buddhas and other ornaments. On entering, there is a wonderful smell of aromas emerging from the semi open plan kitchen which has the effect of making one ravenous. There's a steady stream of customers split between those ordering take-away and those wanting a table, attesting to the place's popularity. It's a favourite haunt of the many students living and studying in the neighbourhood. Clientele is predominately young. It's wise to err on the side of caution. Dishes here tend to be much spicier than those normally accustomed to in a Thai restaurant. To the uninitiated, some can seem like flames from hell. If unsure, just ask for a mild version of whatever you are ordering. There's a nice selection of soups and starters, of which Tom Yam Koeng, spicy shrimp soup with lemon, fish cakes and satay are highly recommended. Main dishes are for the most part curries, rice and noodle based dishes, prepared with choice of beef, chicken, pork, prawns and squid; Or without, if you're vegetarian. Specials from the house include a good number of fish dishes, Mooi Krop - crispy pork, plus delicious chicken, pork, prawn and seafood salads. Desserts are seasonal. The main one is sticky rice with mango. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are served, along with Heineken and Thai beer. Prices are reasonable and the service is impeccable. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Perfect to combine with a visit to one of the many bars and cafes dotted around the festive Nieuwmarkt square, home of the magnificent Waag, the old weighing house, the oldest non-religious building existing in Amsterdam.

Hm definitely I don’t recommend to order noodles from them because they become really soggy. Plus beef was dry and salty . The overall food was nice . Service is acceptable . Will try to order something else from them next time

On our way to the Zeedijk we were looking for a great place to eat, a guy walking in from of us who lived in the neighborhood recommended this place. Never heard of it before but it was worth the try. We chose two of the most recommended dishes, the stir fried kale with crispy pork & the fried rice noodle, egg, bean, sprouts & prawns Excellent choice, everything was delicious. If you are ever in town make sure you visit this place.

This place is insanely good. Truly authentic many customers were from Thailand and the food itself is just out of this world. The flavors in the green curry and the wonton soup are insane. The spices they use are incredible and are very intense, nothing left to be desired. I really really recommend it. Just be advised there might be a bit of a wait but it is 100% worth it. Could be the best Thai food I’ve had in my life… also I don’t know why it says only take away they are a full service restaurant. Lastly, the coconut juice is amazing and super refreshing if you still have room after the meal :)

This is one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever been to. It truly made me feel like I was back in Thailand. The staff are lovely, helpful, and extremely friendly and the food is extremely worth it (a bit on the pricier side, but considering the portions totally worth it). Their pad thai, salads, soups, and especially sticky rice are gorgeous and I am very glad we found this place on the last day of our trip. I hope to return here one day if I ever come back to the Netherlands! Note: this review was left by a party of 8 asians on vacation looking for authentic Asian food. Thank you Phu Thai!

Best Thai food I've had since Bangkok. I ordered the Nam Tok and asked the chef to make it extra spicy and for the first time ever (in a European restaurant) my mouth was on fire, but in a good way. My brother ordered the chicken in oyster sauce, also a dish we would always eat in Bangkok, and this was sublime as well. 1000% recommend this place! Yum!

We got lucky as we only waited about 10 min for a table. They have an open kitchen and it has the vibe of a place in Thailand, as it's a little messy and the Thai music was playing. We opted for the crispy pork with basil and chili, the laab with pork and the red curry with prawn. First of all this place get a huge 👍for not being halal (they serve pork like in Thailand which is awesome) crispy pork was not crispy, flavor was on point though. Laab was very good and prawm curry was ok. We asked for q bit more spicy... Next time i will ask for a lot more spicy as the kitchen doesn't cook too spicy unless you ask. Nice busy place with pretty good Thai food . We were not blown away but they are better than the average Thai place in the Netherlands.

Recommended by friend. The place may not look like those fancy Thai restaurants, it is more of a take away or quick bite place. Very authentic Thai cuisine, all main dishes come with rice. The price is reasonable and the food is so deliciously spicy.

This Thai restaurant offers some ‘unusual’ but delicious Thai dishes that I typically don’t see in other Thai restaurants in Amsterdam. They have a big menu and I tired some new dishes that surprised me! The only thing I did not like was the environment of the restaurant, it was more of a fast food type of restaurant and the cooking smoke from the kitchen stayed inside of the restaurant and even made the fire alarm go off 🤣 I will try take away next time.

The Thai food is excellent in Amsterdam! We ordered Pad Thai with prawns and GreenCurry! Taste great. It is my birthday on that day. Pamella gave me a discount on a free coconut drink 🥰

I have come back here multiple times because the food is just so authentic and so good!!! Also took my friends with me and they love it. I would say it’s one of the best thai restaurants in Amsterdam. The seating area is also quite big. There’s sometimes a queue but the wait is worth it :)

Clearly one of the best Thai restaurent in Amsterdam. Good ambiance, good welcome. The food is delicious you will not regret and the price is very ok. Don’t hesitate to take Pad see Ew (fried noodles and you add the meat you want), it’s pure heaven. Also, they have the real Tom yam (soup with coconut milk and meat). If you are alone or with your friends, it’s a perfect place to go!

Atmosphere: Old fast food Service: 4/5 Food: 5/5 Drinks: - Value for money: 5/5 Walking distance from Nieuwmarkt, this place doesn't stand out at the beginning: old style furnished, a few tables inside and no terrace, but can't always tell a book by it's cover. The open kitchen gives a preview of the busy Thai ladies preparing all kind of dishes. quite some options on the menu, we chose a fish cake (delicious! Really a must try!), then a soup with shrimps and coconut milk, and a spicy main dish with beef and chili, suuuuper good and hot enough for us to ask s refill of rice to finish it! We split in two a starter, a soup, a main and two beers, for a total bill of 40€! Really recommended! 👍👍👍

Was weirdly craving Thai food so badly while being in Europe (I'm not from Thailand btw), but Phu Thai Thai hit the spot amazingly. Staff were kind and friendly too, to top it off. Ordered the Tom Khaa Kai soup (€8) and it was a lovely balance of hearty (from the coconut milk) and a tad spicy-sour. Highly recommend the fried rice (€4) too for 1 pax, generous with their ingredients. Highly recommend this spot for a good, authentic Thai feast :)

It is looks like a family business so I am even more happy to spend my money here . I will definitely back to try some other dishes . The lady at the counter was really welcoming, cheerful and beautiful ! Continue like that guys ! I definitely recommend this place ! CIAO !

If you’re longing for Thai E-san food, this is the place you should visit. The papaya salad with Pla-ra is exceptional, and you can customize the spiciness level according to your preference. Even if you’re not Thai, you can request for it to be less spicy. The service offers a warm welcoming experience.

Zero is the rate that this place deserve. Restaurant is unhygienic. I am vegan and on checking the menu I picked rice noodles, no mention of eggs in it. However, I never rely solely on the menu, therefore I ordered clarifying that I am vegan. My partner was served first and my food arrived when he was half way to finish his meal. I was served noodles with eggs and unfortunately noticed only when I tried it. They clearly don't understand English nor dietary requirements (this should be the foundation of their job!). My dish was included in the bill, not a sorry, or discount. In addition to this disgraceful experience, you walk.out smelling like you have been fried too. AVOID!

👍👍 The perfect place to enjoy high-quality seafood at a reasonable price.
