What an amazing dinner I had in this place. Highly recommended! It was my first time trying Syrian food and everything was DELICIOUS! The service was fast and the portions were insane (I got a lot of food for a reasonable price). The waitresses were so kind that they gave us some containers to take home the leftover food. Excellent service.

One of the best Syrian cuisine restaurants in Amsterdam. We ordered Sham Royalle for 2 and it was amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Great service too... which is very nice since Dutch table service is terrible 99% of the time.

I discovered this restaurant by coincidence! I was amazed by the level of cleanliness. The staff were kind and welcoming. The service was extremely quick. I ordered hummus, yallenji, chicken mtaffa, shish taouq. The waiter kindly served us with muhammara for free. They also generously served us with tea and Syrian dessert. The food is the best and the most delicious Shami food I’ve ever tried in Europe 😅highly recommended without reservation!

Excellent Syrian restaurant and cuisine. Reservations is highly recommended. They get pretty busy in the evenings. Superb and delicious food. Nice ambiance. Definitely a must if you are in the area.

We were pleasantly surprised by the great experience we’ve just had during our dinner at Sham West. Food was very tasty, variety was plenty and overall portions were very big and filling. The service was attentive and friendly. Great experience!

My first time at a Syrian restaurant and it did not disappoint. My friend and I got the Sham Special menu for two people, and it was plenty of food. For starters, there were five meze dishes of different dips with bread and a starter salad. For the mains, it came with six meat skewers. We were stuffed with delicious food by the end of the night, went home with a doggy bag. Next time I’ll come back extra hungry!

I must echo what others say: great food, excellent service, and beautiful atmosphere. The taste was very authentic and we were very satisfied with the quality and quantities. Prices are contained considering it is Amsterdam. Fully recommended.

We came here twice during our 1 week trip to Amsterdam and absolutely loved it each time. The food is by far the best we had on our trip, for a reasonable price and with amazing service. Our server (May be owner) is really great and also give us extras without asking since we have a toddler. If we ever come back to Amsterdam we will be here again!

We visited Sham West after I found it via Google Maps and it was incredible! We have never had proper Syrian food and this really delivered. We had the Sham Royal menu and left absolutely stuffed after so many delicious meza plates, kebabs, meatballs, and other dishes - more than enough for 2 people and I'm looking forward to leftovers tomorrow. Decor is very homely, prices are good and everyone was really friendly - 10/10, and looking forward to coming back soon.

This is the second time I have eaten there, the 1st time i had delivery.this time, we ordered mixed grill and maklobah, and both were really delicious. Tea with mint after the dinner was really amazing. Staff are friendly and smiling all the time. It's better to book your table in advance.

Wonderful! Friendly staff and tasty food. The meat is so juicy and yummy, they treated us to Fattoush and Tabbouleh with our mixed grills

I don’t understand the hype for this place, to be honest. Food is nothing exceptional, meze are just fine. We shared one main dish but it totally lacked of flavors. Something I really didn’t like was the fact that they made us sit at an extremely wobbly table which made our dinner very uncomfortable. We kindly asked twice to be moved or them to at least do something about it and they just replied with “we are aware of it, we will fix it in 15-20 minutes”. The second time they even sounded a bit annoyed. Needless to say, we’ve been there for over 2 hours but they didn’t do anything about it nor apologized for it. Sadly I won’t come back.

Sham west is true experience of Mediterranean cuisine and authentic Syrian food. Have tried many similar restaurants in Amsterdam I can say it is the best of the lot. The place is Cosy, clean with the option sitting at the Terrece or indoors. The Arabic mezze was very good and true to its display of all the flavors and wow one must not miss the Shish tawook . The turmeric rice was a nice add to the shish tawook and well cooked with very balanced of 7 spices and satiating. Last but not the least a very good group of waiters who make you comfortable and clearly explain the dishes. Only area to improve is provide some tap beer and provide more options.

Wow. A new top point in Amsterdam. Yup I said it. Even though I will be still the biggest fan of Restaurant Beyrouth for its cook's take on the dishes, I will definately keep Sham restaurants as my other option. Had a huge set of meze today as well as a mix grill with some additions. Did it taste good? Oh yes. Did I learn something new on muttabal and baba ghanoush? Oh yes I did. One of the best unexpected food experiences. Returning there for sure! P.S. visited again to got an even better service - meze, grill set and sweets. Absolutely top! I do recommend it to every reader of this comment. Go for the total set and you will definately not be dissapointed.

Excellent food, great service, good decor, easily accessible, friendly waiters. When we went for lunch it was a quiet day so we had the choice of where to sit and we were well looked after. Highly recommend. The food was really fresh and well prepared. The food is Halal and lots of vegetarian and vegan options are available. We will back when we return to Amsterdam.

Super amazing food, great service! It takes a bit longer for the food to arrive though. But overall, it's still a perfect choice to try Syrian food.

One of our favourites restaurants in Amsterdam. Authentic syrian food. Very tasty, full of flavour. Also prices are pretty good, "value for money" is top. Service is great.

Very late in serving food, we waited 1 hour and 10 mins. Mezza was nice, but the main dish, (Fatta) wasn’t, it looked good at first but was very very heavy to eat, full of fats and much below expectations. We didn’t enjoy it or even eat it, only some, and we left with empty stomach and bad appetite. Tea was not good too and costs 2,80 eur each, while we used to get it on the house!

Had the worst experience with the uber delivery boy who spoke no English or Dutch and kept tell me he was at number 100 on a totally different street for 45 minutes, so when my food eventually arrived it was freezing cold and the whole order damaged. Still, I salvaged what I could and reheated only to be further disappointed by the quality of the food. Ordered the fattoush salad which was not fresh, everything in it was limp, the kind of salad you get after you leave it in the fridge til the next day in dressing! The hummus and muhamara quite flavourless and chicken taouk supposed to be bbq skewers were just chicken chunks in the rice. 52euros not well spent.
