This hotel is at a convenient location, really close to the Amsterdam Centraal Station which is about 6-10 min away on foot. Main canal is about 3 min walk away. Less noisy than the main canal street while being really close to everything. Right beside the police station so it feels much safer. Good for families traveling with children. Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Rooms are quiet small but has all the amenities such as TV, coffee machine, hair dryer. We were given a room with 1 double bed but after requesting a room with 2 beds we were switched the next day. We left our luggage at the storage before we left for sightseeing and after we returned hotel staff put our luggages in the new room. Really grateful for that. Hotel itself was quiet and we didn't encounter much hotel guests. They offer breakfast for a fee but we decided to opt out of it and decided to eat at random restaurants by the main canal. Over all the hotel is great. I wish the rooms were bigger and the staff is really nice.

Stayed here for the night, booked the single bed, and the room was very lovely. Only a few things were the bottom of the door, which was smashed on the bottom, meaning light poured into the room. The shower, when put high pressure, sprayed towards the door and gaps at the bottom meant water flooded outside onto the bedroom floor. But all that put aside slept very well, and a great location to nearby attractions.

Beware booking a triple room. I was very disappointed with my stay at the Avenue Hotel. I booked a room with 3 twin beds. When I arrived, they put me in room 99, which is the only room that has an entrance in the lobby and is below street level. Besides being dirty, this room looked directly out to the sidewalk, and even had a door that opened to the outside. I felt very unsafe sleeping in this room, but I was told that the hotel was fully booked, so we had no other place to sleep. We moved rooms the next day, but the manager was rude when we complained about our unsafe and uncomfortable accommodations and asked for some sort of compensation since the room was nothing like advertised. The room we moved into for the rest of our stay was fine, but I will not be returning to this hotel.

Very good hotel right in the centre, close to tram stop, coffeeshops and some nice restaurants.

An old building but very well maintained and unlike some old building has an elevator. The room wasn't fancy but clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel also serves a very good breakfast. It is conveniently located minutes from Central Station. Our room was reasonably priced so a good choice if traveling on a budget.

The Avenue Hotel perfectly accommodated the last leg of my Europe venture, as a 4 day wind down! The staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast buffet was delicious, and the location was perfect for outings throughout the day/night. With most things a short walk away and a tram stop literally on the doorstep. Will gladly stay again in future!

Good no frills hotel. I stayed here on a brief trip to Amsterdam. the rooms were small but had everything I needed. It was easy to get in and out. I would stay here again if I didnt plan on being in the hotel much.

Customer Service is above and beyond! Kudos to Cindy, the Front Office Supervisor! We're from Canada and my parents went on a Europe trip with Amsterdam as one of their pitstops - during one of their birthdays. Via email inquiry, I asked if the Avenue Amsterdam Hotel was able to something to help celebrate - Cindy was very quick to respond and offer solutions (including payment options given that I'm in Canada). They were able to offer some birthday decor and goodies (it very much appreciated!). I highly recommend their customer service and Cindy and the team who helped that day. Thanks again Cindy and Avenue Amsterdam Hotel!

Very spacious room, very clean, beautiful room, very helpful staff. Very fair price for a top location. Everything is at an Arms-length. Perfect stay. Would book again in a heart beat.

Stayed at the Avenue Hotel for 3 nights and as our flight arrived early I emailed the day before asking was it possible to check in early or leave out bags at the hotel. Upon arrival we are able to do both. The rooms are small but clean and perfect for what you need. The location is great, 5 minute walk from the train station and about 10 minutes to the central spots in Amsterdam but you can find places to eat right outside. There is also a tram line outside the hotel. We were able to come and go as we pleased because it was so central. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family and would stay here again.

Stayed for 2 nights. Staff ate extremely pleasant and helpful. Room spotless clean. Nice cold fresh water available, luggage room & vending machines. Great shower and hairdryer and TV I'm room. Been to Amsterdam 5 times and this has been my favourite hotel. Will definitely return :)

Great place to stay when visiting. Location is perfect near city center and the train station. Rooms were near and clean. I recommend to upgrade to deluxe option if you can. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were a group of 7 and we’d choose this accommodation again in the future. Downside: no inside patio or terrace and no smoking area.

This hotel is amazing a great room and a good cleaning service. The bunk bed is not good but the double bed is soft and good to sleep in. And it is also in a great location near the town centre

Except for a great location- 5 mins from central station and 5 mins to dam square hotel is bad. Its very old not maintained, the heater wasn’t working and a small portable heater was given. No water available, lift wasn’t working, nobody to help with luggage. Cleanliness in room isn’t great, used towels i had left in the tub since i wanted it changed - it was folded and kept back

Stayed here for 3 nights. Good location and let us check in early. First night we bought take out food back with us so the bin got filled and chocolate waffle was spilled on the bed. We asked housekeeping to change bedding next morning and this was not done for the whole stay. We also asked them to empty the bin twice which was also not done for the whole stay. The shower door seal was broken on the edge so when you got a shower most of the water flooded out into the bathroom every time we used the shower. My son spends ages in the shower and the water flooded out flooding the bathroom and into the main room really bad. We asked the housekeeper to look at this for us and he said he would get it fixed. This never happened. No do not disturb signs to hang out so housekeeping woke us each day around 8:30 by just walking in while we were in bed. Raised these concerns with the hotel who didn’t seem particularly interested. They informed me the housekeeping team is a 3rd party contractor and nothing to do with the hotel which was worrying, imagine something went missing from your room during you stay would this be the response when reporting theft…… sorry the housekeeping is a 3rd party nothing to do with us. So to summarise the hotel is in a great location, it is clean , and the staff are friendly. However if you have any issues the hotel are not interested.

All rooms have safe box; towels; shampoo; cattle. Temperature is okay for December; helpful stuff and perfect location. The single rooms are very tiny but my bed was comfortable. Maybe the rooms have to own more lights.

Very small room and unfortunately a little loud. Windows can't be open. For one night ok

A fairly small hotel with equally small rooms. All basic facilities are there but in miniature. We found the washroom quite tricky to maneuver. But nothing can beat the great location. It's so close to the Main station and if you take the lane just next to the hotel, you reach bang in the heart of the city centre where all the fun is going on. The staff are very good and helpful. The breakfast spread is good.

This hotel is in a great location if you want to explore Amsterdam! We stayed here for 2 nights before leaving on a cruise and it was perfect for our group. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby, close to public transit, and they were able to store our luggage on the last day. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice clean Hotel - easy to get to from centraal and situated right next door to the police station. We didn't have breakfast here so can't comment on that, but for the location and the price it was good. Only down point would be the weirdly/badly thought out layout of the room we were given, door into the on suite didn't open properly due to the toilet being at an awkward angle right behind it...

Great location, service was fine staff were helpful. Room was a little dirty? Random hair and dirt on table? But we didn’t spend much time in the room, we were out doing stuff. Walking distance to pretty much everything but also close to public transport.

Undoubtedly the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. I understand that this is an old building, however, the rooms are bad at best. Our bathroom door would not close, and we complained for a whole day but it was not fixed. Another bathroom had defected sprinkler, and another room's door was not opening at all. The staffs are careless, and one particular male staff in the dining was very rude. Our breakfast was included in the reservation, but that information was not conveyed to the dining staff, and that particular staff behaved very rudely. Even when we could confirm our reservation, he did not have the courtesy to apologise. The hotel is expensive, yet the service is easily the worst I have ever received, even worse than the cheap hotels.

Stayed here for 3 nights. The hotel is conveniently located to Central Station - easy walking distance even with bags. Tram goes right buy although we mostly walked in the city. Our room was small but adequate and very quiet. Hotel staff was pleasant. Room had air conditioning.

Great location, very central! The rooms looked much bigger in the photos while booking yet ours was tiny. Barely any space to move. Our keycard kept malfunctioning and we had to go down to the reception multiple times to get it sorted. We asked for an extra pillow and they told us they were all out. Don't expect any bells and whistles, very very basic.

The hotel was in an excellent location. The staff were polite and very helpful. The hotel was clean warm and comfortable. The breakfast was great with lots of choice for all diets. The shower was excellent. The big problem was the room. Two double rooms were booked through a travel agent. Our friends room was fine but ours was up in the eaves and far too small to be called a double. After a long and tiring journey. We just wanted a meal and sleep but we should have complained immediately. If we had stayed any longer than two nights. We would have complained. Such a shame to have a belated birthday trip from 2020 upset by a very small room.

Great hotel in a pretty good location but away from the main strip. Rooms pretty good and the shower I thought was amazing. Clean, tidy and comfortable, would use again

Just worked. No problems. Nice personal. The 10 square meter room was very functional for one person that attended a conference. A bit of noise during late evening from people shouting outside and early morning from roadworks, but central Amsterdam so to be expected. Easy walk from central station. Not any pot smoking youths at the hotel which have happened at other places in Amsterdam I have slept at. Saw families and elderly tourists at the breakfast.

A few small issues at check-in eventually sorted no harm done. Reception staff , cleaners , breakfast staff all lovely and helpful. Great location. Rooms small but adequate for short stays. Very good breakfast. I would use it again.

I really enjoyed my stay here in November. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was small but clean and had everything I needed including a comfortable bed. Breakfast was ok and better than most other similar hotels. Location was excellent, quiet but close to all the action. I would recommend this hotel and I would stay here again.

Amazing pace in the core of Amsterdam center. Rooms are not very suitable for tall people (I’m 175cm tall and my head almost touched the roof), but are very clean. Wall are a bit thin, so you can hear other rooms and people in the aisle.

A few minute walk from the train station. About a mile walk to the zoo and a number of amazing attractions. Really great location. The bathroom was a shower only but nice, it didn't include handsoap but there was shower wash in the shower you could use. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only issue was there was a long black hair on the bathroom wall when we checked in, which made it feel not so clean.

Perfect! If you're like us and just want somewhere clean and central to everything. The location is perfect. Some roadworks going on outside at the moment (Oct 22) but didn't affect our stay. Rooms were clean and beds changed daily. Shower was clean and tidy (rm 114) Staff are lovely and we will definitely be back. Thanks for having us. Mr & Mrs Todd

We tried to change the date 6 days before the original date of the booking due to a bad accident we had and they didn’t even consider to do an exemption and change the date. We understand term and conditions and policies but some times you really need to deal with people that at least they will make an effort to understand. This was one of the worst customer service I ever experience.

  • 5/5 Caroline K. 2 years ago on Google
The location is ideal, only about a 5 minute walk from central station but still nice and quiet at night. The rooms are very small but had everything we needed, a good clean bed and shower. All the staff were lovely and so accommodating to anything we needed. If you're looking for somewhere reasonable with a great location and clean room this is your place.

We only stayed one night and we reserved it like a week before when there were very little options available. So i would say it was a good cost benefit situation. The rooms are small, but the bathroom is nice, but the shower worls funky. Everything was clean. Location is right by the main central station which is amazing.
