Poor hygiene + bad service. I never write reviews but service is so bad this deserves one. The hotel itself is modern and guests could‘ve a good stay if the service and cleanliness wouldn’t be that bad. We found toenails on the carpet, stains on the floor and hairs in the towels. We asked the staff repeatedly over 3 days to clean the room. No one did, the daily room cleaning just got worse. The bed wasn‘t made or the bathroom cleaned. Breakfast buffet isn’t good. Poor choices and time limit yet 15€/person. We‘re staying two more days but I‘ve never experience such bad service. Too bad because the hotel itself is nice.

Comfort hotel, pet friendly with good service! You have nearby access to public transportation. The room was clean and tidy with a mini bar, TV, and a bluetooth speaker. For my partner, the lighting room was a little dark, but for me, it was ok. Something that seemed a little strange to me is that there wasn't an electric kettle to make tea or coffee and a phone to contact the reception. Except for that everything was very good! The staff were super friendly and nice!

Great hotel. Lovely rooms, exceptionally clean, emphasis on sustainability. Staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. Hotel is very close to tram and bus stop to centre of Amsterdam. Lots of places to eat in the blissfully quiet neighbourhood. Hotel is right beside the waterfront. Ideal place to enjoy a relaxing walk after the bustle and noise of the city centre. Would highly recommend this hotel.

So one thing I have to say view beautiful hotel yes, but you can't even shower here the whole bathroom plus the whole room is full of water we have at night and I don't know how to sleep now. In addition, 100€ tourism fee in Amsterdam is a bit too much...

A very average hotel. We had to pay €15 to check into our room at 1.30 (standard check in is from 3pm). A nice looking hotel but the room didn't warrant 4 stars, the rainfall shower had so much limescale that hardly any water came out, the bedroom ceiling had the plaster removed and was left with what looked like concrete and the toilet overflowed when flushed. The location for us was too far from the centre, approximately a 45 minute walk or 15 minute bus journey. We ended up getting ubers back to the hotel each evening which ranged from around €14-20.

Quiet, nice size room. Excellent breakfast. Bike rental available. Location isn't bad, but not as close to central train station as I had hoped. Bed linens and bed were okay, the linens were a little thin and not very warm. Overall, would stay here, again.

Very nice, new and modern hotel, with big rooms and a beautiful view, if you're lucky. The staff at the reception desk was very kind and helpful, with all kinds of tipps. The breakfast on the other hand, a complete disaster.. Only a very few products, you couldn't really choose. The omelet made of powder, cold as ice, one type of cheese, one type of salami, some marmalade and a few fruits. Very very poor for the spicy price, 18,50 pP. They should definitely do something about this, because smaller, older Hotels offer a whole lot more for much better prices.

Great room with a view of the canals. Good room service. It is a bit outside from the city but they do have bike rentals. Cabs can also be asked for, in the reception, if needed. Breakfast buffet is available, but a bit pricey. Beautiful place and very friendly staff.

This was one of the nicest hotels we stayed in. Right from the beginning we were treated like honored guests and made to feel very welcome. Huge shoutout to Paula for being so hospitable and friendly. She is the best! The rooms are spacious and the views are amazing. You also have a nice bluetooth speaker in the room. Bathroom was clean and the bed was very comfortable. It’s hard to imagine coming back to Amsterdam and not staying here.

Really nice hotel - the room was huge and with panorama window, bathroom clean and also big. It is located outside of the city center, but there is a tram going right near the hotel. Service and breakfast deserve another compliment. Breakfast room is located on top of the building and you can enjoy your delicious breakfast watching the beautiful city panorama.

This hotel was a real gem. Quirky, modern, trendy hotel in a nice location although a little out of the main centre of Amsterdam. A lot of the local are seems to be compromised of either residential or commercial properties which was fine for us. The 14 bus takes you into the centre in about 10 mins. Comfortable rooms and beds. Can't complain at all.

It was a very nice stay. This was the best price-value option for me during our visit in Amsterdam. It is 25 mins away from the central, tram 3 and 14 is accessible with 5 mins walk from the hotel. I really liked the branded decoration and equipment. Also I really liked, that there are always fresh lemonade, apple and lollipops at the reception area completely free. Highly recommend!

The room was not cleaned in two days; the receptionists were unfriendly (the room did not have a glass and when I requested one at the reception I was told to go to the bar and get one there); I ordered two pizzas at the bar and only one came out and when I pointed that out the waiter said he had forgotten to ask for a second one and added "that's life', no apologies. Very disappointing experience all over.

Amazing stay and definitely recommend it to the visitors. The hotel is not in the centre but well connected by bus and tram. View is awesome and breakfast is gorgeous. We are so lucky to get the package with breakfast, normally it charges €16 per person, and need to book the time slot one day before.

The hotel is clean and sleep quality was Okay, the view was also nice. No hospitality at all. Staff insisted to charge for 1 hour early check-in. Also there is no water, tea or coffee in the room, with this price I actually expected more

The entrance and reception smells so nice! Our room was spacious, clean, and was well furnished (small fridge, chairs, cabinets, and tables). The bed was big and comfortable, and i really liked that they provide three pillows for each guest. The toilet and bath are also roomy and is equipped with everything a traveler needs. The hotel is situated in a quiet neighborhood at the harbor. It is accessible with the city's public transportation but it would be easier with a car.

  • 5/5 John H. 10 months ago on Google
This is a great hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly. Our room is spacious and comfortable. Breakfast is good, and basic, but decent quality food is available in the bar during the day. It's a little bit out of the centre, but public transport is easily accessible, about 5 to 10 minute walk away, and runs until after midnight.

Good in general, spent there 4 nights. We arrived at late night and strange guy on reception met us, he didn’t know anything regarding hotel’s breakfast and welcome drink for N-members, so first look on the service was unpleasant. The hotel is located in quiet area, trip to the underground is taken about 15-20 min by tram after 8 min walking by feet to tram stop. Room was good, with side view on pier, but cleaning could be better. Also I have noticed dirty curtains and scratches on the walls at the end of our staying by the sunlight.

Nice & clean room. Downside is 2 single duvets on a double bed!!! Even though it is 2 single beds put together. Only found out on checkout that, a free drink is offered for the day room is not tidied up! 5-10 minutes to bus routes into Central Amsterdam. Picturesque view from my room window. Staff are excellent & helpful.

Room was very clean and pretty, but the shower gel was almost out (completely out in the shower, almost out near the sink) and wasn't replaced on our second day. The room service generally seemed a bit sloppy, as one of the big bed pillows was left on the floor. The breakfast was really good, we enjoyed the offer and didn't feel like anything was missing at all. Coffee is also great! Check in and checkout was quick and friendly. Location was more remote than I thought, but it's ideal if you come by car and want to go places as you don't really have to go through inner city traffic. We loved the harbour view from our room. The hotel was also very calm.

The bed was comfortable, the wifi was good and the views were great but overall I had a terrible experience. The bathroom in my room had black mold in the shower, which not only made me feel disgusted but also physically sick within hours of checking in. I was shocked and disappointed to see this, as had expected a certain level of cleanliness and hygiene from the hotel. When I raised my concerns with the reception staff, they showed a complete lack of empathy or concern. They provided me with an unsatisfying solution of having someone come to clean the mold and cover it up, instead of moving me to a different room as I had requested. Moreover, they offered no credits or refunds for the discomfort and distress caused. Overall, my stay was ruined by the hotel's uncleanliness and the indifferent attitude of the staff. I strongly advise against staying at this property until they can ensure guests' safety and wellbeing.

Had an amazing extended weekend here with my partner. We were lucky to get a view of the harbour which was lovely in the evening as the sunset was also visible from the room. We didn't try the breakfast but recieved a free drink voucher for sparing room service which was great. The room was clean and the staff are really friendly. You get seperate bed covers which are incredibly comfy however the pillows were quite firm and left you with a bit of a stiff neck the next morning. The shower has 2 shower heads, one with a waterfall type effect, both great. You can store your luggage with them if you plan to be in the city on your last day which is better than carrying it with you. The location is beautiful next to the harbour but it is quite a pain with transport to the city as it is around a 10 minute walk and then a 30 minute tram (I do recommend Tram 14 from Insulindeweg as its a lovely walk) or hiring bikes. I would happily stop here again, thank you for the stay :)

Personal on the desk if friendly but the service is so-so. 1. I paid extra for one bottle of water which suppose to "wait in your rum upon arrival" - at arrival - there was no bottle in the rum. When I asked the girl at the desk she said me than she doesn't know anything about it and I can grab one bottle from the fridge at the desk. But it was not the same price and not the same kind of water which I paid for. Another girl gave me finally another bottle which was the right one at the evening. Towels were not new and start to smell after one use - this is not acceptable in the 4 stars hotel. Hotel has an option - instead of cleaning you can get a voucher for one free drink at the bar, you just need to put that sing on you door. I did it - of course no voucher was available. Had to go to the desk, wait there and ask and then (after questions like - are you sure that you put the sign on your door?) - i got one free water. Bed and pillows are totally uncomfortable. Breakfast was poor in main and no gluten free options at all. Faraway from the city - 30 minutes travel by tram is to much.

Very beautiful hotel. Easy to get to everything through public transport. The staff are superrrr helpful, and they have a range of products to buy. There were some bits in our bed and stains on the duvet and we could connect to cast on the TV but other than that everything was great.

Great overall hotel, rooms were very clean and new. Atmosphere was nice, and public transport is nearby. Some if their front desk staff did bit seem to enjoy their job, a young girl was asleep at the desk.. either manage their hours so they aren’t tired or coach them to be better customer service staff members

Every day for the same 3 persons we paid different costs for breakfast. They could not answer why it's happening. It seems they make up the cost for a person every day. In the rooms there weren't any slippers and shoe horns. The rest is ok.

Nice place to stay !! A bit of trek to walk in the city but pleasant the bus stop is a few minutes away ..15 max to Central Station !! the room was clean ..the hotel is welcoming at the front desk and the breakfast bar too . the room is bare a bit the invisible speakers are not worth it :)

This was our second stay at the hotel. It's a decent place for a reasonable price, however, it could be cleaner and overall could probably need more maintenance (it's a rather new building, but everything is already kinda "used"). The hotel also seems to have some staffing issues, given that we seemed to see the same people all the time working there and they seemed somewhat understaffed/ overworked. The city center is easily reachable by tram/bus, so it's a decent place to stay.

The room is big and clean , only people who work in the reception they are not helpful and they talk to us like they don’t want to talking! There is no water heater in the room and there is no cups or glasses or tea or coffee , also when we need anything we can’t call the reception because there’s no phone, that’s mean we need to go down to order anything !!!! I will never come back again….

Very nice hotel. I slept on the 6th floor and my room was 614, which was very close to the elevator, so that was nice. I stayed 3 nights. Check in is earliest 15, but it was possible for me to put my luggage in the luggage room and come back later, so that I did. Check out is 12, but again I could put my luggage and come back later. In out room there is a lovely view that really comes alive in the evening. Daily cleaning if you’d like. There is a TV that connects to chromecast and also a built-in Bluetooth speaker you can connect to your phone/laptop without even having to turn on the TV. Also, a mini fridge and a tiny vault for your valuable belongings. Free soap in the toilet, along with napkins and small toilet bags. A big rain-like showerhead over your head (which I loved), and a regular showerhead as well in the bath. Hair dryer in the bathroom as well. The sweetest and most helpful staff, both in the reception but also the cleaning team. 500 ish meter away from the tram (Tram 3 I believe), so very close and convenient. All in all, I would really recommend the Niu Fender! <3 I am definitely coming back.

Greedy management, you will never get a refund from this hotel. Covid regulations are high in Amsterdam and I can’t go still no refund for my reservation.

Amazing hotel , so modern and the staff re very kind 10/10. But no one came to clean the room this was a bit strange 🤣. Tips: it's better to rent a bike from the hotel , by bike it's only 15min to the center it's easy !

  • 2/5 Gabriel C. 2 years ago on Google
The hotel was great and I enjoyed the hotel but cleaning service wasn't the best. I don't believe they ever change the AC filter therefore it blows dust. The room had too much dust blowing through it which for me caused an allergic reaction. I had to leave 3 days earlier and wasn't able to get a refund for my early leave. 2 of those days were booked on Airbnb which I understand but I booked an extra day when I arrived without a third party and was denied my refund. Honestly, the hotel was good and the staff was great but the denial of a refund and the not cleaning of the AC was frustrating.

Modern, clean rooms and great location in Amsterdam. Bus stop is 10 min walking time (Veelaan) and takes you to the city/central station within few minutes. Friendly welcome but housekeeping must be improved.

Very nice place, but the house keeping should be I.mroved, especially corridors and main spaces, also outside the hotel. They stopping outside lights at 23:00-23-30, it's not normal. When we arrived, we can't understand we're is the entrance. At the same time 24 h, the meeting room is lightened, and nobody is there.

The hotel is perfectly located just outside of the city centre, with two useful tram stops within walking distance. Our room was lovely and spacious, the design of our room and the hotel made the experience even better. The cleanly was of the area and the hotel its self was impressive, I don’t feel as if enough photos are taken of the hotel itself as you’re really underselling how amazing it is! The whole area was clean and the location was well chosen, with breathtaking views of the dockyard from our room and the restaurant. Although we were out of the city centre we were only a 15 minute tram ride into Centraal. We chose to include breakfast with our stay, there was an impressive selection of cold and hot meats, cereals and fruits. The staff were helpful and attentive, always a nice friendly face to come into the lobby to!

Amazing experience!! We have been selected as guests of the day and we received a free upgrade. Our room was absolutely stunning, with a view of the lovely canal. Very clean and tidy, the bed was comfortable and we slept really well! The check out is at 12 and it Allowed us to work a bit from our room which was really pleasant! I recommend the hotel breakfast: absolutely delicious!

My go-to hotel for a night or two in Amsterdam. Situated in a relatively well-connected neighbourhood, the hotel surrounds are quite peaceful. Rooms are spacious, modern and well kept. My only comment against the hotel would be the quite apathetic service at the front desk at times, particularly when things get busy.

  • 5/5 Vladimir Z. 2 years ago on Google

From the 1st day we had issue with the room We checked in though the app at least 2-3 hours before at the arrival at the hotel they gave us a dirty room , this is unbelievable after a long hour trip to get in the situation to have to switch rooms Due to being too tired I did not understand that they will give us a room with too separate beds (when we switched) Then I asked for someone to make the beds together twice and they completely ignored us , then with after 3 days of staying in the hotel no one came to clean our rooms and we remained without shampoo and towels I asked on Friday morning from the black girl with curly hair she said she will take care of it nothing done (next day we were leaving) someone to come to bring us towels and again they ignored us I had to go again for the 4 the time at the reception at 11 in the night Keep in mind that you employees they did not inform us when are the cleaning times!! The blonde girl at the reception was very polite from the beginning . I know that we did not pay a fortune but for a 4 star hotel it's unacceptable

Good hotel, nice and quiet, breakfast is a bit steep (especially if you feed four) . It's a bit out of public transport reach.. 6 min walk to busline 22 is the closest and will bring you into Town. Minus points ( Feb 2022) bar was empty .. people smoking at the front door is not great.. ( especially weed smoke) . Also not all techies stuff did not work as expected ( screen cast) did not work. . We would book again though.. good Rooms and good value..

I did not feel safe when it comes to Covid measures inside the hotel. Also, the lack of housekeeping/basic hygiene (vacuuming, cleaning toilet sink/shower etc) in my room made my stay pretty uncomfortable. Breakfast and installations-decor were the only bright side.

Really wonderful stay at the Niu Fender. Nick went above and beyond to ensure our stay was awesome and I really appreciate it! Room was clean, modern and just great really. No complaints. Didn’t try the breakfast but it looked nice! Very close walk to teams to the city.

One of the nicest hotels i've stayed in a long time. Room was absolutely stunning, really clean, had all facilities (apart from an iron/steamer but we didn't ask for one), the view of the port and skyline was AMAZING from our top floor room, the staff were friendly, the TV has streaming facilities, i want to go back as soon as possible :)

Really large rooms. Has BBC 1&2 as well as other English language channels. Fridge is a definite plus. Great shower. Didn't have the breakfast as I thought it was pricey @ €15.75.

The Niu Fender was a nice enough hotel, stayed here for two nights with 2 rooms booked. Location was a bit off but Amsterdam is a city with good public transport and always nice to walk through. Rooms where nice and clean as well. However the service experience was far below average. Staff seemed inexperienced and unengaged. Felt like they where surprised when someone asked for helped and loitering in the reception when shifts ended. Bar staff didn’t care enough to notice when you got there and just kept on doing their thing. Moreover, be advices that the pricing on their own site is too good to be true. They do not include their local tourist tax in the price and only mentioned in the T&C’s, something that is 7% of the stays price + 3€ per room and night. Ended up paying an extra 10% on our stay. This was also meet with total disregard from staff and hotel management. The prices on sites such as booking and hotels do include this. Also their price comparison on site is not up to date and gives misleading information on “saving” most likely the price on other sites are better.

Wonderful, exceptionally helpful & friendly reception staff. Travelling from Australia I was so fortunate to have 2 lovely reception ladies (wish I knew their names to personally name them) who provided me with kindness and wonderful tourist ideas. I extended my stay for several days. My corner room on the top floor gave me incredible views. Hotel is not in central Amsterdam but a pleasant walk if you enjoy walking and very easy access to public transport. Marina is delightful. Supermarket and cafes along the bus route.

An average hotel. The rooms look like the pictures and are quite large, as is the bathroom. If you skip room service, you get a free drink. The room staff is very nice and reliable. The connection to the city center is not good. You walk about 5-10 minutes and then drive another 30 minutes. The biggest problem is the breakfast. There was not a day in almost two weeks of staying where you didn't have to wait for something. Especially cups are never in stock and you have to wait 15 minutes for a coffee cup. The buffet is refilled very slowly. The tables get cleared late. The breakfast staff is completely overwhelmed. In addition, it is very cold in the breakfast room, 16-17 degrees. I have never experienced anything like this in a hotel before and is also the reason why I advise everyone against this hotel, if you want to have breakfast there. You would be disappointed.

  • 3/5 Ali T. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is situated in a far away location from any tram/metro. You will need to walk 10-15 minutes to the closest tram stop. It will take you another 10-15 minutes by tram to reach to city centre. Good luck if you have any luggage, you will have to drag it for kilometres. The hotel itself is costly per night (approximately 230 euros) for a room that doesn't have all the amenities, such as a room phone to call the reception, a bottle of drinking water, and an ironing table. It's the minimum you can find in a 2-3 stars hotel but classified as a 4 stars hotels with a high price tag. Did I mention that my shower gel/shampoo was completely empty for two full days during my stay? Imagine you took your clothes off to take a shower and then you don't find shower gel or shampoo. If you want to call them, there is no phone in the room. That means I have to put my dirty clothes on, and go down to the reception to tell them. THAT'S NOT PRACTICAL. If you want a bottle of water, you should pay +3.2 Euros for one 500ml bottle. Yes. They monetize everything they could possibly do. For this price I would rather recommend staying in a far away hotel near a metro station, and probably get some bottles of water from the metro station.

Great staff and manager at this hotel. I was quite a bother with my stay -- extended multiple times, and then had to cancel two nights. The manager noticed and reached out to me to make sure that i got to stay exactly the nights i needed. Staff was always very friendly and accommodating as well. Five stars

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!! I’ve been meaning to get round to writing a review for a while now but i genuinely just keep forgetting to. I stayed here around a month ago and I would never stay here again. First and foremost our room was left open all day by housekeeping. Imagine out surprise as 2 young women to come home at 10pm and find our door slightly ajar on latch. This is seriously dangerous as anyone could have gone in the hotel room and waited for us or our belongings such as our passports and valuables could have been taken. I told the hotel manager Nick or something and his attitude stank. He was smirking and seemed to find it funny and seemed to not understand why we would want a refund. The worst part of it all is housekeeping didn’t even tidy the room that day. Beds weren’t made, nothing was done all they did was take out the rubbish and leave the door on latch. If not for the trash not being there anymore we wouldn’t have even been able to tell someone came in there to clean. We only got a £50 refund. The view is nice but the windows are so filthy that it takes away from how nice the view could be as you have to try and see beneath all that muck. Breakfast was mediocre not something I would have happily paid for luckily it came free with the booking. 0/10, the double bed is just two singles pushed together so good luck to you if you’re a couple trying to couple as it continues sliding apart. They don’t give you proper warm duvets so a possibility you will be cold at night. It’s far from city centre but it’s got a restaurant 1 minute walk away that was rather decent. I’ll include photos and let you make the decision on whether you want to risk staying here for yourself. Kind of a shame service is so disappointing because it’s very aesthetically pleasing

We were served by Kateryna who was lovely and greatly assisted us with information about local activities. The room itself was in a clean state and the overall experience was great. Amazing view of the river. Will be staying here again on our next visit.
