Nice atmosphere, relaxed, no judgment like some London gyms. Great sets, interesting boulders and and cute cafe with BEER! The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because I wouldn’t know how to train endurance at this gym, maybe it’s not seen as important here?! Or the other gyms have it sorted? But for strength it’s awesome. Moon board and every wall angle and grip style. Loved it.

Great for kids to get a session with one of the Trainers to learn how to climb. Also really nice attentive staff. Highly recommended.

I was in Amsterdam for a week and absolutely loved it! I kept coming back almost everyday I was there. The staff was super kind and the location is BEAUTIFUL! Walk out to the river, grab a ferry to the East or just grab a coffee and sit by the water!!! One of those places where it's about the technique and not about strength. Some of the routes are for competitions and may be harder to discern but still a 10/10.

Went on an Amsterdam trip with my friends from Hungary, and as a true climber I just had to try out a gym. I have to say it's a super cool climbing gym, although, hard to approach by public transport, but definitely worth it! The receptionist was an angel, and was so kind, had a great talk with her. The only downsides I can think of, is the rule with the mats, that you can't be on them while not climbing (kinda weird, but I see why) and that there's no hot water in the showers, atleast there wasn't any when I went. Also very good prices compared to other gyms in the city.

Awesome boulder gym in Amsterdam Noord. Excellent place to go with kids to introduce them to the world of climbing. They have several routes with different levels of difficulty, good space and structure. There’s also a bar for snacks and drinks and you can rent the climbing shoes for a single visit

Reasonable prices, grading system was a little bit hard to follow, hence the colours untershot or exceeded the suggested grades. But the routes were cool and you get a great view. You can even go take a swim afterwards :)

Great spot with lovely people. Lovely cafe inside as well. Staff is super friendly too. Recommend for a visit if you’re just starting bouldering or already very experienced

Nice bouldering gym, with nice routes and polite service there. Found the size of the gym a bit small when compared to others ones and when it gets busy you kind of have to wait in lines to try out a path

This place was very nice. My son loves to check out a rock climbing gym somewhere new. I believe I paid €15 for him to get rental climbing shoes and climb which I thought was a very good price. The staff was all very helpful. It wasn very difficult to get to. We took bus 43 from near central station down to the ferry Azartplein and took it to Zamenhofstraat. It was only a 10 minute ferry ride and a 3 minute walk to Monk.

Nice gym with good boulders and a great training area, but for me the boulders are too precise and straightforward. Also when it’s busy there is very little space to check out a boulder or to just rest a bit on the benches. Very tasty and big cappuccino tho🙂

Very nice place but I would like to see some bigger beverages

I liked the place, many options for beginners. Not great though that for the lockers you have to bring your own lock. Also they could clean a bit more the rental shoes.

After my 2nd visit for my 7 yo son, i can gladly say it is a great place for kids. The trainers are really paying attention to the kids, even individually within the group (might be normal for European expectations, but it is worth noting for those like me coming from different cultures where individual attention is a rare thing). They were helpful at every point of the whole process

Generally a great place to climb with friends/colleagues. The gym leans on the difficult side of bouldering gyms. Pros: + Great music + Great atmosphere + Friendly employees + Many brushes + Free bandage Improvements: - inconsistent rating - amenities could be improved, especially the toilets where water is constantly being spilled, very unhygienic! - in summer it is unbearable to climb. Please spend time with an expert to create the best air flow if air conditioning isn't possible

Generally nice bouldering. But grades seem very inconsistent or I got confused. Routesetting not super inspiring. Only cold shower.

Monk is my favourite gym in Amsterdam!!!!! LOVE the technical setting, the variety of routes, and how spacious it is. Even at the easier grades, setters set interesting and funky moves. I also love the kimchi cheese tosti and the banana bread and the staff are always friendly and helpful and smiling. However, as a 1.57m girl, please can you set some challenging and still accessible routes for shorter girls?!

Cute little bouldering hall with great quality boulder problems. Can get pretty busy during peak hours but still plenty of space to have a great session. Overall great vibe and nice people

Nice gym but has inconsistent heating during the winter, and the routes felt a bit more Dutch height-dependent (compared to other gyms in the area that I've visited).

Choose a good time where it is a bit quieter and you will have one of the best places in the Netherlands. Atmosphere, routes, coffee, training area! Perhaps the Eindhoven location is just a little bit better.

Very nice experiences I really enjoyed. The atmosphere was very cool. Everyone is so friendly there and very helpful. Just spending the day practicing and resting in a nice bar and beautiful view. I will be back definitely.

I love Monk! Great routes, good vibes, friendly staff and a nice selection of food and drink for that post climb social. It can get crowded on weekends, but mid week, especially mornings, it’s nice and quiet. One of my favourite climbing gyms.

Great boulderhall for starters and experienced climbers! I had a first time here and there where enough easy orange climbs to keep me occupied! Thx for the great experience!

First experience there today, cozy vibes and friendly staff, standard price for an entry. Will definitely go back.

Pretty crowded but other than that amazing routes, hand holds pretty clean and i love the bar and events

The best boulder gym in Amsterdam. Great routes set by professionals. They renew them frequently and even when it’s crowded there is plenty of space for everyone! Highly recommended

Great place to boulder in Amsterdam. Suitable for climbers of all levels.

Nice spot to climb! Right on the Quay with a cafe on site so you can relax before or after your climb. It is also competitively priced and has a good range of difficulties. I was expecting it to be slightly bigger but they've used the space wisely. Could do with an incline wall however.

You want to boulder hard, swim, have a bbq, fresh draft beer or just enjoy the waterside view! Don’t look further, this is your place!

Good bouldering climb hall. Has training level on the first floor as well.

Super nice and chill place. If you don't want bouldering you have the option for drink and chill. The customer service are super nice đź‘Ś

Great hall, lots of boulders. Two minor nitpicks: lots of boulders of my grade (6a~) seem to start in very similar ways. Secondly, the music is appropriate for a workout, but a little too much on the minimal techno mix for my tastes. Will definitely recommend and come again.

Great bouldering gym. Easy to book a timeslot, lots of interesting boulder problems up to 8a difficulty. In addition to a great bar, fantastic location on the canal and friendly staff. Highly recommend.

One of my favorite places in Amsterday. Great place to climb, and an amazing spot to chill after :) great view over the river.

Cool place for climbers. And I loved that there was a garage door open while it's warm outside, so it felt a bit like being outside A bit overcrowded for my personal preference, but what can you do.

Very nice bouldering gym, nice vibes, very friendly and helpful staff, great hold and interesting blocks beyond the grades. I thoroughly enjoyed the visit and will come back when again in Amsterdam!

Really good gym in all senses: Staff is approachable and incredibly helpful. Food and drinks are very good. Climbers are very friendly and open to help you improve your technique. Gym equipment is okey. Boulder patterns are changed quite often, which makes it super dynamic. Steongly recommend it

The routes here are very well set, with nuanced, thought-provoking, and interesting movement. The climbing vaguely reminds me of Fontainebleau. The gym’s setting is second-to-none, located on the waterfront with a phenomenal view of the city. The gym also offers food, libations, and other tasty treats.

Great venue, helpful and friendly staff. This is subjective but the intermediate grades were very enjoyable to climb. Nice route-setting!

Great walls! They also have a nice area for gym and warm up, and a cute bar too. One of the best gyms I have been to

3.5 if I could (3 would be too harsh given it's generally a good place at the right time) Used to come here a lot but these days mainly at Beta and Beest. Disappointing experience today, literally half of the routes off limits for climbing because of some competition coming up and the ones left were not very interesting (didn't see any mention of this on their social media) but you still get to pay full price and when I asked was just told that's how it is. The sunny terrace is always a plus.

My to-go-to boulder gym. Friendly staff. Good music. Good vibes. They change routes very frequently so great for multiple visits without getting bored.

Probably the best bouldering gym in Amsterdam (they also have student discount on weekend evenings). However the location is terrible if you are not going by bike - realistically expect around 45 min walking from Centraal Station :(

  • 5/5 MátĂ© W. 1 year ago on Google
The route-setters are awesome. Really know what they are doing. The grades have a good balance between climbing technique and difficulty of holds. Really friendly and helpful crew running the business. No better place in AMS!!

Nice place worth visiting, the cool part is the outside space where you can chill and enjoy the view.

Best climbing gym in Amsterdam by far! Staff are so friendly, especially the blonde boy with the curly hair, charming smile & dreamy eyes. Also the climbing was great, but mainly the boy gets my 5 stars🤩
