    Unfortunately, I have to take off two stars given previously.. I am coming to this gym 6 days a week and more and more facing very inconvenient ( for me) situations involving the kids.. David Lloyd is family oriented gym and I appreciate it but the parents should learn on how to share the space with other people without being a bothersome. Yesterday AGAIN , upstairs ,there was a man with 4( !!!!) boys different ages running around and playing on several gym devices ( some were acting very dangerous).. nobody from staff said a word … Today in the changing room , a child was screaming like a hell and this happened almost every day… Parents are not taking a responsibility for their kids behaving .. Another example is when fathers are taking their 5-7 y.o daughters to the changing facility where most of us are walking nude , put their girls on the bench in the millet and undress them .. we have several dressing rooms available so why not use it ?! I am not a child free person but my time at the gym is the only time I can relax and I don’t want to feel like I am in kindergarten..This gym is nearby to my house but I will not extend my membership and will look for a more adult oriented Gym in the area…

    I tried the 14 day membership as it’s close to my home. However I decided to stick with my regular club much further away due to a number of reasons. Impersonal and inconsistent service, literally sales sharks in operation here. The locker system and rules is ridiculous. Pool and ‘spa’ area with rust and not clean. Didn’t like the feeling of the studio, low ceiling and dark oppressive feeling. Also I do not understand what this hideous monstrosity is STILL doing at the front of the building. The building is already unattractive, but this pictured eye sore has been present for maybe more than a year now with no sign of anything being changed. Can someone please let me know when this awful structure will be gone? I speak for others in the neighbourhood who are also share the views.

    Apart from the reception & juice bar, the staff are incredibly unhelpful, dismissive and impolite, especially the trainers. Harry and Joerene outstandingly so. The machines and pool are nearly always full and nobody seems to return their weights. My locker was nearly broken open and cancelling is an absolute chore. The “trainers” block off huge segments of the gym for classes and scoff at you for accidentally walking near it. Their “BodyTrax” machine has also been out of order since my arrival. Go anywhere else, especially at these prices.

    I love the gym. Sure it’s expensive but not over the top expensive for what you get. Friendly people there working and exercising. I wasn’t sure if I would sign up on the day I went for a tour, but the sales guy who gave me the tour really gave me a great feeling about the place. His positive energy, motivation and fitness goals made me really excited to join. Every gym has pros and cons. Can’t make everyone happy. I’m glad to see they are remodeling the changing rooms. The lights are a bit odd. I wish the saunas and steam rooms weren’t as busy with the door constantly opening and closing. The towel service is extra and I wish they provided small towels to use when working out. I’d prefer that more than the big towels. Waiting to get your towel when checking in and checking out is kind of annoying at times - but the staff does their best to deal with it. I love the fact they have water fountains to fill our water bottles. What a nice concept my previous gym didn’t have. The cafe also has reasonably priced drinks and would refill bottles for you too. Classes are the main thing about this gym. Too much to go into detail here. There is something for everyone and they are all high tech. There is a huge workout device on the main floor that tries to accommodate every workout, including TRX, even though I’m sure it’s awesome, it is hardly used. Only taking up valuable space. It can be crowded on peak hours but also very empty at other times. Lots of people staring at their phones in between their sets can really slow down a workout. Too bad they don’t have a timed circuit or something like the eGym.

    Don't bother sending emails or asking questions in person, you will never get a constructive and problem-solving reply. Best to avoid and spend such ridiculously high membership fees somewhere else, where "customer service" is actually in the dictionary of the gym.     Rip off. Hard sales technique by sales team. Expensive lock in memberships. Poor customer service. You have to pay 25% fee to put your membership on hold (just found this out) and now I have decided to cancel my membership of over 12 months, costing approx €1200 (platinum level for both of us, he is only 10 and isn’t even allowed to use half of the facilities) we now need to continue to pay until the end of April. It is now 4 March. I recommend Basic Fit, Trainmore or any other gym in Amsterdam, or the world for that matter.

    The facilities on offer at this gym are good but they really don’t make up for the experience I had over the past year. It’s a death by a thousand cuts. Lots of many many small irritations. The gym is a very money hungry place. The value is basic to what a gym provides. And they seem to be big fans of threatening members with debit agencies if my and other people experience are anything to go by.

    These people are thieves, they hook you off with an attractive offer, but forgot to mention that you need to sign off one month in advance, then harass you with collection companies to force you to pay for months of practice that you never wanted nor used... it’s a total scam, pass your way and go to OneFit or Class Pass where they have a proper customer service and don’t try to rip you off.

    Respect for the gym team, today someone took off their shirt and started training without it. I felt really uncomfortable 😳. But thankfully, someone from DL team came right away and asked the person to put on the shirt again. Very pleased to see rules are for everyone. Thank you for making the place better.

    The gym really isn't worth the price for the service you get. It bothers me, because I train everyday. Sure, the equipment and spa (which are often out of use) are nice, but the staff is a huge let down. And in my opinion: it's the service that should be exceptional, or at least good, decent equipment and facilities are the basics. Staff should be laid back and helpful, not act like it's their dad's gym. I cancelled my membership and will look for a new gym.

    Look, overall it's quite a nice club, when everything is working properly that is. However, DL Amsterdam charges thousands of people more than 110 euro (!) monthly for their membership. Meanwhile, since a couple of weeks the hot sauna has been out of order, showers are broken, now and then the heat beds are out of order and the steam room has always been a hit or miss. So, what are we still paying that much money for?? Come on DL, get it together! Update: Deducted another star as yet another week has passed and nothing is being fixed..

I’m sick and tired of your awful service. 3,5 months every time (2-3 times a week) I come and smth doesn’t work in swimming pool/spa area. Okay, things can be broken — that’s life, that’s absolutely normal. BUT when you can’t repair it for weeks — are you serious? Again (on Friday evening 9 December 2022, and on 8 December 2022 too) it wasn’t warm water. And it’s not the first time!!! Once it wasn’t water at all, you closed all restrooms but the swimming pool/spa area was open. ARE YOU SERIOUS? And I can mention that your membership now costs 94 euros and you announced that it will 100 euros from January. For what do I want to ask?

    It’s a big studio with sauna and pool. They have a great HIIT workout called “blaze”. I wish it was more organically sectioned, I find the workout areas a little bit separated and overloaded. The sauna and relaxation space is great but you do wear clothes and I did not perceive it as cozy unfortunately. I wish it was more clean. I guess it’s used a lot and so on but I think the cleanliness and the maintenance is not adequate at all :(

    It’s unfortunate that such a big global organization is so poorly represented in such a beautiful city. I hope that the team there received training, coaching and support in how to create inspiring interactions with their customers - in my experience it’s the customer service team who needs it most. They make it very difficult to feel like a valued customer.

    Update - I still haven't heard back from them, even though they promised someone will get in touch within 48 hours. STILL waiting for a REFUND - horrible! Tried the gym in June with my partner we signed up after a tour that was lovely, but resigned within a couple of days as the first emails received from the place as customers were about not functioning parts of the gym (pool that we were most excited about). Canceling was a struggle itself - noone replied to my emails, and after we went in they (manager Fred) told us they have seen them. They promised a refund on the spot, them confirmed in thr email but until now, and after a couple of reminders, I still did not get the money back. Service 0/10

    Well, the extra star is because any other gym in the area is just way too expensive. At least you get a sauna and pool. But, if you wanna join a day care where parents let their kids run free and dance around while you’re trying to have a workout. This is the place to be. Try not to get injured in the process :-D.

    Excellent experience so far. Went in for some information the other day, and ended with a full on tour from Baran. All explained very clear and well, including the memberships and small prints. Signed up the same day and have not regretted a single moment ! Some areas in dressing room and spa show some wear and tear, but overall it’s an all in premium experience.

    Barred from the gym for a week for having cancelled twice this week: first time through calling the reception and explaining that i had a very bad migraine, second time two days later for the same reason i cancelled just before the class on the app this time and will be charged as not within cancelling deadline. Fair enough but as if this was not enough, I now i get a message saying i am barred from the gym for a week because i cancelled three times (duh?). I called reception which explained to me that ‘it is the system’ - a system to which reception has no access so in fact they do not know what they are talking about…. I’m now waiting for the manager to call me. Makes me feel a little bit like primary school!!

    Customer service is terrible. Management lack professionalism and the client is not put In first. The pool has been undergoing maintenance for days and no one said it would not be out of use. Do not recommend this place. Especially not to pay 100e for month to be treated this badly by the staff.

    This is a scam gym with no customer service, they withdrew more money from my account and it took me 4 months and several times to get the 69 euro back. They can raise the price of the membership without notice( you know front the bank) when I’ve complain about it they said it’s written in the contract you sign( written in a very microscopic font in a place which usually people non read or pay attention) and when I complain they told us you can leave if you are not happy but since you sign a one year contract you gotta end it first so you still have to pay. No management or customer service I’m seriously wondering how this gym can survive treating customer like this way! They survive on the one they scam with one year contracts!

    First things first. Worst customer service ever! I want to cancel my membership and my contract for 12 months. I don't care how much I will pay as a fine. The front desk at the gym says "cancellations only happen through email" and they do not care to respond to the emails. It's been 1 month! Other thins: nice building in a very nice location and a pretty city. What a waste when you look at how it is managed. Only one single tap works in men's locker room for 3 months. Jacuzzis are broken for months. Pools are being closed and opened without notifications (Some emails received). I regret that I signed up for 12 contracts. Not recommended.

    I give 2 stars for the gym (specifically Pool and Saunas), the only reason I signed up a year ago is because they have a full sauna complex (steam room) and a pool. They had a good promotion and I thought I will give it a try. I really enjoyed it, I was coming really late as I finish late, and ofcourse the pool and saunas were quite empty. Now it's totally different. I come around 19 to swim and enjoy the relaxation area but you can't relax there at all. The place has turned into some kind of a Middle-East market (and no, this remark is an illustration of the cultural diversity and all the "perks" coming with it - I don't care where people come from as long as they respect the norms of the facilities they are joining and mindful of others but these days certain behaviors are common for particular ethnical groups of people, intentionally or not choosing to ignore norm of respected behaviors), when bunch of guys sit in saunas and chat really loud without respecting the nature of relaxation areas. Also, very often I find myself the only girl there and I don't feel comfortable asking them to be quiet. I'm not sure if the promotion campaign drives new crowds to the gym but I was expecting that a membership fee will filter out people, who are not aware of respectful behavior and use the facilities for training not for loud gatherings and chitchatting. I wouldn't mind even for the membership to go up in price if David Lloyd would put some extra work into making sure everyone is aware of the rules. It's not hard to put a big sticker on a door of saunas and practice memebership going to saunas and sometimes just asking people to respect the silence, just to bring in some good habit in there. Personally, for me its too late.

    I had terrible experience with People at reception. You go to gym for wellness of your mind and body. But the way people at front desk treat you, it just kills the whole vibe. I wouldn’t recommend this gym at all and I’m stuck with my contract for now. As soon as it ends, I am leaving.

    Staff is rude, gym is small and not worth these money. Cancellation of membership is difficult and time wastage. Help center is not working properly. Never suggest this place to anyone

    Worst experience ever. Worst customer service. Once again sitting at the gym this morning. My wife (pregnant) and me cancelled our work meetings and made sure to call 30 minutes before I came to the gym and they assured me the pool was open. We arrived and it’s now closed again and they don’t know when it will be open. Once again (the first one nobody sent an email saying that the pool was closed), we waste our time and 40 euros round trip in Ubers. I am sick of tired of the stress this is causing me and the money and time we are throwing away! So no, I’m not satisfied with the outcome. I would like both of the entire memberships refunded. This is unbelievable.

    Went here to have a tour and inquire about membership prices. It is quite annoying that you can’t see the membership prices online and then when you come in for the tour we had to wait over 30 mins in their bar, which seems like they are trying to get you to buy a smoothie while you wait. There are many membership options to choose from. The gym itself seemed quite nice but our first impression was quite low due to how we were treated when inquiring about a membership.

    Overall Gyms in Amsterdam are Poor....this is the best of a bad bunch (Have Les Mills classes and 25m Pool) Note other people's comments ! Poor Poor Customer Srrvice and Charging Due to Covid unable to use the club ..BUT they still charge June till December 2020 not good ! I left as have many members

    I have been a member since June 2010. In September 2014 I discovered yoga, in 2017 pilates. Some hardly see the effects judging from the physical in- and output given to and gained from power and fitness training. Since autumn 2014 I have never been in better shape and my allround mental wellbeing has stabilised much more as well. Circa 10 teachers have been a privilege and delight to be taught by. Half of them were disemployed or left for lack of autonomy in their teaching methods and/or relatively low payment of €30/lesson of 55 minutes albeit considered correct. Every lesson used to last 90 minutes. Personal freedoms in methods were hardly perceived as critisized whilst enjoying the trajectory throughout a calender year. And the lessons really made a strong physical and mental impact. I became agile, toned, my concentration deepened, my creative brain widened as a result from the sequences even though I rather strongly dislike the downward facing dog. And my breathing and listening to my body's signals considerably improved. Meanwhile DL has reindexated it's membership fee to just above €80/months which was agreeably under €80 at the end of March 2020. And chopped the 90 minute lessons down to 55 minutes. This happened during a broadly publisized €1M renovation in 2017 and 2018 that led to a drastic menu reformation for all members. Current menu is anything but an improvement. Be it lovely that the two sauna's have remained as well as the Turkish steamroom. However, the guaranteed eucalypt, sometimes mint, vaporiser has almost on a weekly basis been absent. Or empty. It contributes considerably to experience rest in one's mind and body after work, or working out and has proven no discomfort or unhealthy effects since it's introduction a short number of years ago. On a different note... Teachers like Simon Rowe, Chris Knibbe, Dorit Weintal and one or two valued others have left the company. With their combined 50+ years of experience in dance, centralized focus, heart/intestinals/brain valves/sensory and direct one on one personal contact. About their visions and approaches and the teachings their students offered them during, prior to and following every single class. Once Simon Rowe demonstrated what is detrimental to the necessity of correct personal breathing from inside to outward: after three minutes of sequential movements without breathing once his demonstration was utterly clear. This calibre teacher and the space for it almost disappeared completely. In it's place a Blaze studio was erected. Since late 2017 DL's core business has become calasthenic workout and blazing people's bodies nearly out from under them in combined 45 minute 3-area divided bootcamps. Taste, choice. Furthermore. Prior to Blaze's launch DL was more diversely client interested. Showed more sincere interest via well informed and excellently (life) trained personnel that mattered to it's London and worldwide brand and branche. And offered substantially more time, space and thereby invitation to clients/customers to feel welcome, invited and spontaneously open for unexpected social encounters. Without set or communicated boundaries between the firm and it's customers. For quite a while there was the appearance we were basically actually all people once we left the Overtoom behind and stepped into the Pon Building with it's mammoth stone column. In April this year I and my Advisory Board founded and launched UpsideDaan. A company with two crystal clear targets: *Human/human interaction with ample room and invitation for depth *Walking (until the customer feels a natural ending of the trip) I'd love to experience the difference in vantage points and personal changes in the personnel of DL whilst we walk.     Certainly on the more expensive side of gyms, but well worth it. Oftentimes not very busy, very good facilities, and the spa/pool/bubble bath is just very nice in the winter.

    I was never a person to go to the gym and enjoy it, but visiting David Lloyd in Amsterdam changed that. I think it's the atmosphere and the possibilities. That is if you're serious about the goals you wish to achieve and are fine with investing in yourself. Sure, there might be gyms far cheaper, but I have been there and they never worked for me. Going to the gym is one thing, coming back and progressing is another and I feel at David Lloyd I have thus far been devoted to keep going. There is a lot you can do. • 120+ workout classes to pick from • Swimming pool • 2 different Saunas • Steam room • Fairly big fitness area for all your needs • Upper floor with cardio focused equipment. The locker rooms look very clean and there's lockers you can rent. The showers are each separated for privacy. I have been a member for a month, but can tell you that David Lloyd is doing a much better job than a lot of other gyms.

    Terrible customer service, these guys really want to empty your pockets with minimum effort and value given. Its incredible that the jacuzzi part of the swimming pool has been closed for 9 months (out of order) and the facilities are ageing. The worst by far is the customer service and how to get a hold of them. Been trying for 5 months (literally) and the result is no contact and an debt collection agency for an administration mistake ON THEIR END. The outrageousness of it all is incredible, and the staff still likes to give off attitude. AVOID DAVID LLOYD AMSTERDAM at all cost.

    A great gym with fantastic facilities. All of the staff members are great but a special mention has to go to Taylor. Always so friendly and helpful whenever I see him, he just seems to radiate positive energy! But, he's not just super friendly, he's also incredibly knowledgeable on all things health and fitness and has been a massive help to me so far on my fitness journey

    I feel so sorry for the personal training team, they are absolutely amazing and my rating has nothing to do with them. I am strictly referring to the customer service and conditions on the site which are very bad. The hand dryer in the men's locker room hasn't worked for a year, when it rains there are buckets everywhere because it's raining inside, sometimes the treadmills go out and if you ask someone to come and see what's going on they ignore you, 10 year old girl in the men's changing room changing with a big man and so on. When I notice changes in the problems I listed above, I promise you that I will be the first to give you the highest rating.

    The pool is really great, not too full as other pools in Amsterdam. The spa area is very nice with different saunas and jacuzzies. The team is friendly and overall I am very happy with my membership.

    The service is really bad. 1. My friend was about to get a full membership. This month a membership included a discount for 2 weeks. But because he trained at DL 2 years ago they didn't gave him the 2 weeks discount. So he decided not to get a membership... so i believe customer service did a bad job. 2. Because I went abroad for 3 months i had frozen my membership. Unfortunately they only froze it for 2 months.     Do not sign a contract with this gym, it is a scam! Once I finished my 12 month contract, they automatically extended it without my consent. I tried to contact them about it but they were ignoring me. Four months later they threatened me with a debt collection agency. I had to pay for those "extra" months even though I did not even use their services during those four months. Moreover, I had to pay off the bill of the collection agency as well. I decided to pay up because I did not have time to start a case against them. Such a horrible ending, especially considering I was a member there for a while and generally satisfied about them. I hope they do not scam other people in the future anymore

    Overall it's a good gym but giving just 3 stars because 1. Wieghts/lifting area is a bit small 2. Punching bags and cross training area is incorporated around weights 3. Gym opens only at 7am. It's way too late. Might as well open at 5 pm. Im hopeful it's gonna change.

    The staff is very friendly and helpful. The facilities are great and very clean. It was very helpful for me the fact that they have a physiotherapy office integrated with the gum, so I could (as a gym member) get the treatment I needed.     Very good. This is a health club not a gym, so think the price is ok for all you get. Sauna, steam room , pool. Lots of classes. Lots of weights and space plus towel service. Nice and clean :)

    I like gum facilities, pool, spa (that’s why there are 2 stars, not 1). My membership was cancelled twice without any valid reason in the last few months. I’m not able to book any class or crèche for kids (the only time I can go to gym is when kids are in crèche, without it I’m just paying for nothing). For the last 4 months every time I come I have to explain the situation because my membership card is not working. I sent tons of emails, spoke with everyone on the reception and sales folks but everyone does nothing, just tell me that they will take care about it. So I’m just paying for the membership, kids membership and crèche and can’t use the gym. Worst service in Netherlands.

    I have been at David Lloyd for over a year, always paying the premium membership +100€ p/m. This gym has the worst customer service I have ever experienced, anywhere. There was some kind of problem in their system with my membership (while I have always been automatically paying the full fee) and therefore every time i go the staff at the reception asks me why my membership is not active, and I have to explain the whole story each time, furthermore I can’t access the app ( therefore I can’t book any classes). The increíble part is that it has been 4 MONTHS since the issue started, sent several emails, called, etc and no solution has been provided. So, in short I have been paying +100€ every month to get questioned at the entrance and to be blocked from booking any type of class. At the beginning I was contacted by Ousama to solve the issue, nothing happened and even after I sent several emails, he never replied. So if you are planning to join the gym the customer service is something definitely to take into consideration. Besides that it’s just a normal gym, no big differences vs other gyms. Extremely disappointed.
