I realize Amsterdam is a super atheistic place and all but I just really don't know how I feel about the commercialization of holy places. The cafés in both big churches are already weird enough but now this church is used as an exhibition hall, where you pay to enter and there's a gift shop. The fashion exhibit was okay for what it wanted to be I guess. But something just really doesn't strike the right chord about "Vagina Pants, 2018" being displayed right on top the grave and dead body of someone's son who wanted to be buried in a holy place. Idk also kind of seems like a slap in the face to everyone who built the church over the course of several hundred years to serve God.

We visited the exhibition World Press photo, very interesting, moving and powerful. The interior of the church is spacious and well lighted through the glass window. Beautiful wooden roof and carved parlor. You can buy tickets or museum card.

Indonesia exhibition: OK, not really special. Visually attractive. Informative.

Beautiful church with wonderful domes and stained glasses, it feels like a oasis of peace in the middle of the storm of Dam square. You can visit also the exposition of the world press photo that takes place every year on it. Inside the church you will find a small shop with little gifts and souvenirs.

A very beautiful church from the 15th century. It has a nice architecture and it’s worth visiting and taking pictures from every side it has. The inside is really cool and it is worth a visit if you go to Dam Square on your visit to Amsterdam. I also recommend taking the pictures and visiting it during the day because at night the lights on the outside make it really hard to take some pictures.

I visited here for Queen Juliana exhibition. It was very nice; lot of information on her and her doings. Her personal belongings were exhibited. Over all it is a nice and big place to visit.

Magnificent isn't it? A must-visit when you are in Amsterdam (exhibition changes periodically; look up their website)

Surprised by the 22.50 euro entrance fee, especially for a place of worship. It's not what I expected for a "church," considering most are typically free to enter.

Beautiful historic church demonstrating some of the most beautiful architectural feats. You get to see the church and the exhibits within for the same ticket. Audio guides are available as well. This is truly an amazing site to see. The beauty is overwhelming at times and the architecture and what was accomplished centuries ago by men without modern tools is truly amazing. Make sure you swing in here for a brief go around when you are visiting.

Simply church with beautiful statue and cemetery of noble families or famous persons, entrance ticket fee 9 Euro. The staff are warmly welcome and hospitality. There are self-audio guide instrument and room for storage the big bag or jacket. Not wonderful or beautiful as I expected. Toilet is not free. If you have a limited time, I suggest Royal palace Amsterdam instead of this or you may skip this place for anothers.

Always go there for every year’s world press photo exhibition, one of the best places to show those photos. Simply beautiful in and out.

Impressive church from the 15th century, named "new" because of the old church that in now in the Red Light district. Now it's a museum with different exhibitions. The entry cost is too expensive in my opinion

Visites the World Press Photo exhibition. The exhibition was very interesting. It takes about 2 hours to see the images, to read all the information, and to watch the documentary style research. I found the access to the exhibition tobe quite pricey for what you're getting. Then again, what isn't expensive nowadays. The New Church itself is a beautiful building and is within a short walking distance from Amsterdam Central train station. It has some very interesting features such as graves of important people from the 1800s and 1900s, the artwork and style of the church are very nicely preserved and/or restored. Even on a very warm day, the climate inside the church is pleasant. The quiet inside is a stark contrast of the busy pedestrian areas outside, especially on The Dam, where there are often many many people. The guest shop and reception staff were excellent in providing information, and were very welcoming and friendly. This is not the standard for Amsterdam and I was pleasantly surprised. There was a guided tour that had started just before we arrived: a representative of the world press organization was informing a group of people on certain images, as well as the back stories. It was super interesting, and the gentleman sharing the information was very knowledgeable. Overall I would recommend tl visit the church in itself in case you have no interest in photography or history or some of the influence the media has had and still has on many life changing situation on our planet. However, if you have even the slightest interest in world events, photography, art, politics, etc, then the World Press exhibition will really be educational, eye opening and sometimes confronting. I learned many things and was moved by a lot of the back stories. Enjoy!

Unbelievable. I learned all about Queen Juliana. I noticed in the exhibition that they skipped the WWII years and wasn’t sure why. Lovely altogether

We came to see the 2022 World Press Photography Exhibition. It was very moving and a forceful reminder of inequality and injustice around the world.

De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam has an exhibition about previous Queen Juliana this month, highly recommend for the people interested in Dutch Royal family.

Nice historic building. Currently there is an exposition about our late, late Queen Juliana. I have to admit, it was impressive. Nice items, like the wedding coach and a beautiful vintage Rolls Royce. And, on purpose, the exhibition gives a fine overview over a bygone period, with all its ups and downs.

Beautifully recycled place. The former Church lets now place to various types of exhibitions. The exhibition on Queen Juliana was certainly one of the best I ever visited.

Few last days for this must-see exposition "The Century of Juliana". It is a must-see exhibition for history enthusiasts and royal family fans alike. With over 400 objects, it offers a glimpse into the life of a beloved monarch who faced unprecedented challenges and prosperity during her reign. The exhibition showcases Juliana's simplicity and humanity, and her remarkable journey from princess to steadfast monarch. The stunning palatial setting adds to the immersive experience, making it a must-visit event.

Went to the Indonesia Exhibition, to dive into our family roots. Expected more of it. It was a bit too much of everything. Historic information was limited. Art work poor. All information can easily be found in a book. We paid 66 euro (3 people), which was way too expensive for what you get.

I've visited the Indonesia exhibition and it was really great! Staff is friendly and its uncomplicated to use the lockers. The audio-tourguide is only in dutch, but the exhibition has explinations in English.

Fascinating museum about the ex queen Julianna of the Netherlands. I recommend this if you have some time left but it’s not really a must see. The audio tour was very nice and very detailed. Also a beautiful church from the outside and the inside.

13 euros to see white washed walls and tombs. Not a church now despite the name, but a meeting place where events take place including coronations. Simply overpriced. Don’t accept cash and audio only comes in English and Dutch. Many more beautiful and interesting churches in Amsterdam and for free. Skip.

Loved the World Press Photos of the year absolutely stunning. Wasn’t expecting it when I got to the church but what a treat it was! Highly recommend going to it if you able to do much insight and just so much emotion. Really beautiful.

I love to come over for the World Press Photo every year. The setting adds an incredible plus to visit this already interesting exhibition. Most of the times is not too crowed as well, so you can enjoy the photos quietly.

To give an honest opinion, the church isn't that unique unless you know your Dutch history. It contains the graves of some of the most iconic Dutch admirals of the 17th century but other than that, it doesn't have any features that stand out from other churches. I have seen several exhibitions and I am always a bit underwhelmed by the experience. It lacks depth and a certain engagement with the audience. At the time of this review, they are showing and exhibition about the Dutch Royal family. It consists ofan audio tour with some projected images. There is a better complete experience at the Palace on Dam square.

One of my favourite exhibitions venues in Amsterdam. Today I went to visit the Surinam exhibition. My grandfather is from there and I am curious about the past and the Surinam slavery and colonial history. The exhibition meant a lot to me. It took me from sad to happy and from feeling amazed to feeling shocked. It will last till the 3rd of March. It is a Dutch/English exhibition. So if you are new to the theme you can learn a lot. It has my full recommendation.

Really pretty. Sometimes different expositions. This is also the church where Michiel de Ruyter is buried. You can see his monument and casket.

I loved the huge impressive area of the New Church, and it was interesting seeing the 'family burials' rooms around the inside (many with closed doors). The gift store was extensive - I couldn't resist several containers of hilarious 'Last Supper" mints - don't miss them!
