When in Amsterdam, do as the Dutch do : ) On our last day in Amsterdam we were torn between taking an official canal boat tour or renting our own boat for a couple hours, but as we had watched all the bikes pass us every minute of our time there, we decided that a bike tour would be the best use of our time so we checked Mike's online, last-minute, and luckily, they had three spots left in the next tour that day. Everything else was sold out. Our guide, Mark, was excellent; very enthusiastic, informative, and fun. We learned so much about the history of the city and saw so much more than we had in the previous couple days walking around on our own. We followed Mark through the city and stopped at about 10 different places where he brought history to life for us. He's also into environmental issues so his comments were informative there as well. I marvelled at how Mark was able to lead 15 of us for 2.5 hrs through the crowded streets of Amsterdam without one injury or accident. I'm 61 and in decent shape so the pace of the ride was fine for me and most of the ride, except bridges, is flat. My husband, 22yo son, and I, highly recommend Mike's Bike tours, and especially Mark! My only suggestion would be to take the tour in the first or second day of your trip so you can better plan to visit the areas of the city that you see on the tour that interest you. Riding through Vondelpark, the Jordaan neighborhood, and around the seaport made us realize we missed a few really neat places to see.

This was our favorite activity from our trip- and that says a lot. Mike is an amazing, safe tour guide and takes the time to ensure everyone is comfortable and having fun during the tour. We booked the 3 hour city bike tour for our last day in Amsterdam and got to see many lovely attractions from the Van Gogh and Rijiksmuseum to Amsterdam Centraal and the Anne Frank House. We were a bit nervous about the biking rules in Amsterdam city but Mike explained them well and as long as you're being mindful during the tour, you'll have a great time! Would 100% recommend this to anyone with a few hours available and looking to feel like a local.

Excellent tour of Amsterdam. Ashton did an excellent job safely guiding us throughout the city as well as giving us a history lesson of the many sites to be seen. Highly recommend!

This is a great start of my trip in Amsterdam! Huge shout-out to our amazing tour guide Stefan. As a local and former fireman he has great knowledge of the city, the buildings and the history of Amsterdam. Definitely try this and you won’t regret! They also have e-bike options.

Super bike tour in Amsterdam! Highly recommend this tour to anyone! We wanted to do a tour that allowed us to see the countryside and some of the things Amsterdam is known for like windmills, cheese and clogs. It was a highlight of our trip. Our guide Simon was very knowledgeable, friendly and entertaining. The ride itself was perfect, and the bikes were easy to ride. One lady in our group had done a different ride the prior day but booked another as she had enjoyed it so much. Super activity to do while in Amsterdam!

Visited Amsterdam for the first time on a Mom/Son trip and off course we saw the city the only way you can...on a bike! Stefan was our guide and he was fantastic. The bikes were great and Stefan was a wonderful guide. It was intimidating to ride around in Amsterdam because of all the bikers and traffic but Stefan made sure that we stayed safe as we saw the sights. Wonderful experience!

I truly enjoyed this - Mike was born to entertain and educate people on Amsterdam through his cycling tours. He was also cautious to make sure we did not get hurt when cycling in Amsterdam. We stopped from time to time and he explained what we saw. He took us to major sights and he asked us where we wanted to go so we could influence the route. Well done. I can definitely recommend this trip. Regards Antonios from Sweden

We took the Countryside Bike tour with Mike's Bike Tours Amsterdam in the first week of August. Their team was very helpful getting setup with our bikes. They were also respectful of slower or lesser experienced bike group members. He always made sure everyone was accounted for and was keeping up with the group. The "eccentric farmer" we visited along the tour was a pleasant break during the long bike ride. He was funny and kind. We enjoyed seeing the clog-making and cheese-making processes and especially cheese tasting :). Overall, the scenery was beautiful and it was definitely one of our favorite outings during our trip to Amsterdam. I would definitely recommend trying a tour from this company out!

Such a wonderful way to experience Amsterdam!! The guides are very personable, and the views are gorgeous. You also get a taste for the history of the city as you go along as well! Highly recommend! One of the best experiences in Amsterdam! It is a long bike ride so bring snacks and water and be prepared for a workout.

Mike's Bike Tours was listed as having an Amsterdam bike tour on Sunday at 2 pm on the Airbnb platform. I contacted them 24 hours before the departure. They responded promptly and tried to sell me another tour. I then asked them for the second time about the tour I wanted. They read the email but didn't respond. I asked a third time. Still no response. Unprofessional. The company then threatened me in the following manner: "But if you don’t remove the unfair review on G* we are gonna do something else."

We did the off the beaten path with Ashton and the tour was the BEST I've ever experienced. Ashton made the tour the highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. We learned so much about the city and we're taken to all new places even though we'd already been there for 5 days. Some questions I can hopefully answer. Yes you stop to get a bite to eat. Yes there's time to stop if you need to use the restroom 🚻. Yes the ride is at a more leisurely pace. Yes you will have fun!

Such a wonderful experience for our first time in Amsterdam! As we went in quiet season, we were lucky enough to have a small private group. Our guide Simon, was so lovely and knowledgeable, and had great recommendations for the rest of our stay. Highly recommend, and big thank you to Simon! From the 4 Aussie’s 🇦🇺 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺

We took a 3 hr city cycle tour with them and our guide Was Conney. Despite the pouring rain and cold weather, our group of 7 made through the complete circuit(other couple of groups cancelled it in between, we were told!) . It was a well organised trip and the cycles were really good too. Conney is a Chilean but she has good knowledge on Dutch history and good command of English. We stopped at 3-4 main attractions and also had a.15-20 mins coffee break. They had also provided rain conches which was helpful. I think they trimmed some places(Artis zoo, Ann frank house etc) from the original itinerary but it was OK considering the totally inclement weather. We really enjoyed the trip. Will surely recommend, especially during summer!

We spent more than a week in Belgium and the Netherlands, and our bike tour with Gus to the countryside was the best part of the trip! Gus was knowledgeable and personable, and answered all of our questions. He checked in regularly as we saw a windmill, a local garden for school children and much more. The farmer we also stopped to see was witty and colorful, and really put an exclamation point on our trip. I can’t recommend this bike trip enough!

Enjoyed the city tour with Aaron. Knowledgeable about the city and was able to answer all questions. Nice peppy route, modified the tour to meet our requests. Good bikes too.

Had a wonderful time with Simon. Lucked out on the weather, and had a great time looking at the countryside and at the cheese/clog making farm. Simon was knowledgeable and funny. Highly recommend.

The tour was great! Loved spending a day on the bike in the countryside. Really enjoyed our guide Simon. He kept the group together and did a great job. While the cheese and clog demonstration was interesting, the host bordered on harassment of women on the trip. I understand it was meant to be humorous but there are so many ways to be funny without making the females in the group feel uncomfortable. That said, the cheese was delicious. :)

Despite cold and rainy weather, Simon made the Countryside tour interesting and fun. Most of the route was on quieter routes so it wasn’t intimidating at all (as opposed to riding on the crazy streets of Amsterdam, which I wouldn’t do without a lot more practice and courage.)

The tours offered by Mike's are an amazing way to see a variety of different areas around Amsterdam and also a great way to become comfortable navigating the city on two wheels. The guides are informative, pleasant, and fun and truly enjoy sharing the city and all of its quirkiness. The only issue we ran into is that the bike shop where the Urban tour starts has a different name and no signage indicating you've found the right place.

A perfect start to our trip to amazing Amsterdam! Never thought Dutch bikes can be so durable and comfortable. We had so much fun and our tour guide made us feel safe and comfortable as we rode a bit within the city and countryside. A great experience to learn about this amazing city. Amsterdam is so ahead in a sustainable lifestyle.

Mike’s Bike Tour was such a fun experience! Mike was my guide and she was wonderfully informative, made us all laugh and ensured a safe journey. The bikes are great and the visit to the cheese/clog farm is such a special inclusion. The journey is flat and serves inexperienced riders (like myself) well, plus there are plenty of breaks to take in the scenery!

I took Mike’s Bike Tour in 2014 and again recently this past January. The original tour definitely made me fall in love with Amsterdam and made me want to come back. This past one we took was still good, but it definitely fell below my expectations. Our guide, Sevv, was amazing! He was knowledgeable and very helpful. I had a little bit of fear and anxiety biking this time and he definitely helped ease both. When I got lost, he noticed fairly quickly and was able to find me so I wouldn’t be wandering aimlessly. I really enjoyed learning from him, as this tour didn’t necessarily have the same content as the previous one I took. I’m not sure if it’s management or the new bike shop, but the bikes felt more difficult to ride than the ones used before. Also, we noticed that there was an emphasis (from administration) on getting as many people as possible for a tour, which I think hindered the quality of it. I feel like the company should do smaller groups so it’s easier to keep a similar pace and to be able to customize the tour to the guests better, as people have different interests. This tour lacked some of the history of Amsterdam I was hoping for and more so information on current day, but that can be chalked up to the guests that were in our large group. Overall, I enjoyed myself (as did my husband who was visiting for the first time). I would absolutely recommend this for someone who is comfortable on a bike and is doing the tour more for the novelty of biking around Amsterdam, as opposed to, an alternative to a historical walking tour.

Great countryside bike ride! Antonios was an awesome guide and made sure we were all safe when leaving the city. One of the highlights was the cheese and clogs experience, which was very interesting and we got to try lots of yummy cheese. The end of the tour felt a little rushed, as there was another group waiting. So I would recommend booking the afternoon session.

Mikes Bikes tours are well organised and led, the bikes used are a very comfy ride. Not even a torrential downpour halfway through our city tour could dampen the spirits! Amsterdam is after all said and done a city below sea level so a bit of moisture is to be expected. Our ride was led at a nice pace which would suit the members of the party who don't regularly battle London traffic. Riding a bike in Amsterdam shows how good city cycling could be. I will definitely go for another tour with Mikes Bikes again when I next visit.

A MUST DO experience ! We had a great time on the 3 hour tour around Amsterdam. We haven't been riding for a wile, but the bikes were extremely comfortable and easy to use. The tour around Amsterdam, local attractions and along the canals was wonderful. Our guide was funny and very knowledgeable. We are REALLY glad we did this !!

This was an excellent bike tour and ride around Amsterdam. The bikes were comfortable and easy to ride, the pace of the riding was relaxed, and the guide was friendly and super knowledgeable! I felt really safe riding around the city, especially after our guide gave us a quick lesson in Amsterdam traffic and biking rules/tips. I would, however, say that a small amount of familiarity with cycling will help you feel most safe and have fun. Highly recommend for anyone travelling to Amsterdam, even if you’ve been before because there is a lot of interesting information about the city and its history and it is just plain fun riding around!

Went on the country bike tour (4hr) well worth it. The price wasn't bad and you got alot out of the trip. Our guide Patrick was super friendly and nice. I would choose this tour over the city. If you have never biked in Amsterdam or are not the best biker, the city could definitely be a challenge especially during tourist season. The cheese at the cheese farm you visit is on par!

  • 5/5 Christina Marie C. 7 years ago on Google
Country side tour was totally awesome! However if you're not comfortable with your bike skills DO NOT GO! It's four hours and half the time you're still navigating the city and traffic so it's dangerous when you can't handle yourself. Our guide was awesome and the happy little man that showed us around the cheese farm was a hoot.

We had the best time taking the countryside tour with Mike’s bike tours!! Patryck was our guide and safely navigated us through the streets of Amsterdam and out into the lovely green dikes and farmland, giving historical details and fun facts along the way. The highlight of the trip is stopping at a family farm to try Gouda made from unpasteurized cows’ milk and aged the old fashioned way...with all the free samples we could eat! Such a fantastic experience!! Cheers Mike!

There is NO better way to see Amsterdam than as a local does! Our guide was entertaining, enthusiastic and showed us a great time during the tour. It lasts a couple hours so plan accordingly but it was a great time: rain or shine!

I joined the bike tour in early nov 23. It was a small group of 5 and we are lucky to get Simon to lead the tour. He was knowledgeable and friendly. We had a wonderful time cycling and seeing the cheese factory and windmill. It was a wonderful experience and highly recommended.

Fantastic bike tour across Amsterdam! Super knowledgeable tour guides, not someone who was there on a visa for 3 months who was tasked with giving tours. Lots of great recommendations on where to go, where to eat, and things to do that were of interest to us! We went during a rain storm and the crew was still excited to give us a tour, brought ponchos for us, and even had a backup plan in place incase the storm got super worse. Can't recommend Mike's Bikes more!
