A must see site. Less crowded than expected (end of summer holidays). So much beautiful artwork. I particularly loved the great hall. Note, only a small portion of the palace is open to the public, but still plenty to see. The self guided tour recommended. Expect to take 2+ hrs to view properly.

Beautiful palace! Not many people know that you can visit it easily with booking a ticket for only €12 which includes a free audio guide. I really enjoyed my visit and learned a lot from the audio guide.

It's a good place to visit especially with the audio. But some places you can't even go inside the rooms. They put a plexiglass in the room entrance. U can take pictures but they won't let you video record. Kind of weird.

So from the outside it doesn’t look like much but it was open so I went as its something I haven’t done in the city center. Inside was so much more than expected. The carvings and paintings all over this place were simply amazing. Well worth the 12 Euros to get in.

I had a very special day at the Royal Palace. It's not only beautiful but filled with so much history. Definitely more than worth the small entry fee. I would definitely happily go there again with another person as this was a solo trip 😊

Once a city hall and now a royal palace of the Netherlands. Decorated with various sculptures of Gods, portraits with several active offices, rooms, hallways. It’s a 1.5 hr tour with complimentary audio guide. Quite interesting to walk through the history of the palace and the current state. You can also view the balcony of the palace, although you cannot go there.

Beautiful palace whose history I, as a Dutchman, did not even know. For the Dutchman, an absolute must-see. The audio tour is very informative, user-friendly. I found -in contrast to the opening of the king's working palace- the route not very clear. The information on se history of the palace is great. Nice to see many rooms and to know more about the history but also how the rooms are used today. Good thing they open this palace to the public!

Great food, amazing furniture, the King is really nice; he even laughed at a couple of my jokes during the meal. Enjoyed sleeping in the stateroom. I am insanely jealous of Louis Napoleon's bookcase. A great self guided tour in all honestly.

Overall, a good palace to visit. The big pluses: the palace is still functional, unlike many other palaces. The staffs were friendly and helpful. The palace itself was smaller than expected. It contained less artefacts than expected too. The audio guide was superb nevertheless! Five-star! They are easy to use, with options to get even more information. They also contained three different types, catering for adults, teenagers, and small kids alike. One of the best ones I've experienced.

It's a beautiful palace. The sculptures inside are very detailed and impressive as well as the decorations of the rooms. Using the free audio guide gives you a better insight about the history of the palace.

Entrance to the palace is only 10 euros and it is well worth it. It includes a free audio tour that is offered in multiple languages and it gives an in depth explanation of basically everything inside the palace. If you have kids with you, don't worry, they have an audio tour for them too that is story based. It is a very grand place to be and the intricacies in the stonework are incredible. Everything has meaning and the symbolism runs deep. Definitely don't sit this one out!

Located very near to Amsterdam central station, this historic palace offers a view of some beautiful paintings, architecture, sculptures. They provide you a prerecorded audio guide for your personal use. Kids entry is free and the palace provides a restroom facility for visitors. You can take photos, but videography is not allowed.

The visit takes around an hour (and fifteen minutes more). Sculptures, chambers, and decorations are great. You can hear all history behind by acquiring a headset in the entrance. Entrance tickets can be bought online for €12.50 per person (adult).

A beautiful town hall turned palace located in the center of Amsterdam. If you’re interested in history, art, architecture, or just want to get to know a bit more about the city, it’s a great place to visit. The entrance fee includes an audio guide with headset that shows you around. The tour takes about 1-1.5 hours to complete. You get to see Citizen’s Hall and walk through the rooms that host visitors during state visits. Well worth a visit on your trip to Amsterdam.

The Palace is the best place to see in the entire city. It's better than the Rijksmuseum or any other. It teaches about today's monarchy and a lot about the history of the city back to when it was the city house. Awesome! 10/10

The building looks very big ,but for the museum it's only 1 floor....very pity 😑 .. Beatufull interior of rooms, but all of them look the same... you can see it by Pic. 1 hour and it's max that you need in this place.. My recommendations to visit 👍

If you are into history, this place has lots of stories to tell. If not you may find this hard to engage with, it really is down to personal preferences; the content is not easy to digest so it will need to be right up your alley for you to enjoy it. Otherwise, it's great and is reasonably priced. Lots of interesting things to see and explore.

(Translated by Google) The Royal Palace of Amsterdam (Dutch: Koninklijk Paleis Amsterdam; common name for German: Paleis op de Dam) is one of three palaces in the Netherlands run by the monarch, located in the capital of Amsterdam, Dam Square. The palace building was erected in 1655 by Jacob van Kampen, inspired by Roman architecture (so-called Dutch classicism). These classic forms and luxury of interiors, according to the author, were to emphasize the grandeur of Amsterdam. A solid foundation of 13,659 wooden piles was laid for the construction of the palace, and the walls were built of yellow sandstone, specially brought from Germany. Three floors are crowned by a dome with a weather vane in the form of a sea vessel. The interior of the palace is made of marble. The central hall measures 36 × 18 m and is 27.5 m high; the hemispheres of the Earth are depicted on the floor. The palace was built during the Republic and was used as Amsterdam City Hall until 1808, after which it housed the residence of Louis Bonaparte. The palace was later handed over to the Royal House of Orange, and in 1935 the state bought the Royal Palace. Numerous halls and galleries of the palace exhibit paintings by prominent Dutch artists - Rembrandt, Hovert Flink, Jacob Jordans, Jan Livens and Ferdinand Bol.

Right in the center of Amsterdam this lovely building from the outside is even better from the inside. The ticket cost us 10€ which included the audio tour. The building is amazing, the sculptures very detailed. The audio tour gave a lot of details about the building and was pleasant to listen to. The staff members were very friendly. When in Amsterdam it is definitly worth a look!

Never knew that it was allowed to visit from the inside. Not too big so you won't feel tired at the end. The audio tour explains almost everything that is needed to know. The citizen hall is impressive (don't forget to look at the ceiling murals).. Under 18 is free entry. Not too crowded. A lot of insight into the Dutch French and Dutch Spanish connection. Not posting inside pics to not ruin the experience..

This is an amazing experience with a clear glance of the Netherlands’s history. The workers are very nice and welcoming, the audio is very clear and it’s available on many languages. Everything is worth seeing on this place… paintings, furniture, sculptures, and defiantly the history of this place. Highly recommend it. The ticket during week days costs €12.50 per adult.

What a surprise! You think a king’s palace should be very glamorous but you enter this palace and you get surprised by how efficient and simply decorated it is (comparing to the Louvre for instance). Located at the city center it is very straight forward to find the palace. There are other touristic attractions close by, lots of shops and restaurants as well. We followed the audio tour which was very interesting. The staff at the reception was very friendly and helpful. There was an individual activity for small children: they can get a prize at the end.

Should buy tickets in advance. Not so crowded, the staff were helpful, you can get a free audio guide. The rules here are quite strict though, you can’t take videos only pictures, you can’t bring your bags inside unless it’s very small, can’t lean on the walls (for some reason for me), and there are a lot of staffs standing around staring at you, but it’s ok I guess. Very beautiful architecture, the audio guide is detailed and interesting. Take more than 1 hour to complete the tour.

I visited many palaces in Europe, compared with Vienna and Madrid, this palace is small in size and more modern. I liked the big wall art for the jewish and Moses. At the end I wasn’t amazed with what i saw. But it was nice to discover it.

The Royal Palace is pretty neat and can be seen in 30-75 minutes, depending which audio tour you pick on your device and how many rooms you peak into. Everything looks great and has informative signs and audio, and it's cool that is still in use for official reasons. Speaking of which, make sure you check ahead for what dates and times it's open. The central hall is stunning, both the walls and floors and roof.

To me the most exciting part of the museum was the Moses room and its paintings. The rest of the palace is like a big house. I also liked the tribunal room. The other rooms I found less exciting in content. I find German palaces much more majestic.

The Royal Palace absolutely makes you fall in love at first sight. Beautiful marble, sophisticated style, thoughtful layout, magnificent chandeliers and history in every detail make this palace unique. There is a pleasant energy and atmosphere here. A wonderful combination of residence and museum at the same time.

A beautiful building and must see if you have any interest in sculpture, symbolism, history, and art. The royal family isnt so much the focus as is the stunning history of the building. I highly recommend this if you have 1-1.5 hours to spare.

We had the opportunity to take to tour of Koninklijk Paleis, aka the Royal Palace at Amsterdam a last July as part of our tour throughout Europe. Wow! Talk about Royalty and to learn this is only one of three palaces that the Dutch Monarch has at his personal use. Well worth taking the time to see such splendor. The Royal Palace is in the middle of Amsterdam on the west side of Dam Square.

Beautiful old palace with lots of history. They give you a free automated audio guide on entry which I find very convenient and gives you an understanding of the palace's history and unique architecture. The ticket price is 10€. You get to see 2 whole floors with their bedrooms and the meeting rooms where the world's presidents and people of power meet till this day. The whole visit takes about an hour but totally worth the time if you're in Amsterdam for a day.

Didn't give myself enough time to tour the Royal Palace during my stay in Amsterdam and by the time I did get round to it, I had arrive too late to go inside. So this review is purely for the building. To be honest the exterior of the building looks like it could do with a clean, as it looks dirty. Looking past this though, the building is a nice example of Classicism / Renaissance. The cupola is probably the most impressive feature as it sits on a Monopteros like colonnade containing classical sculptures and topped with a weather vane that looks like a cog ship,

(Translated by Google) This royal palace in the heart of Amsterdam is a tourist attraction. If you've been there you know why. From a large space where you imagine yourself with a little imagination in the golden age where you see the sea heroes and the nobility mix, to relatively simple bedrooms where the then important residents slept. The fact that the palace is still used by the royal family as a starting point for the all-important memorial of our lives, shows that it still plays a small but important role.

Unfortunately, Netherlands announced stricter COVID restrictions on December 20th. As a result, all museums are closed now. Thus, we couldn't go inside the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. But it's still worth visiting. It's stunning architecturally, has a large Christmas tree in front and hosts tons of doves... if you bring rice with you and wish for doves to fly on your arm or head, just sprinkle some rice and they will come. At first I was reluctant. But when I tried, I realized how gentle doves are! I never knew what gentle birds they are.

Visited this place during my Amsterdam trip. Since it was closed couldn’t go inside but from outside it was average like any other historical monument. By maintenance wise it could have been better. The color looked dull and was giving very lonely feeling. May be because it was closed for entry. However the area where it is “Dam Square” it’s very busy and crowded. You can find people ok roads doing stuff to entertain and earn some bucks, and some charm going on. Those loving history would definitely love this palace. I guess I will have to make another visit to look inside to give more reasonable rating.

Simply gorgeous. And above all, it is well run and efficient. Free audio tours with amazing detail and the option for a short or long tour depending on your schedule. A proper treat, and not simply focusing on the royal history, but the full history of the building.

Beautiful palace that was once the city hall of Amsterdam. The free audio guide was really interesting. The free cloakroom was also a great plus, because essentially everything must be checked. There was lots of information about the beautiful sculptures and architecture and it wasn't too crowded. There was a fair amount of places to sit and take a break. A must see for those appreciate history and anything related to the royal family of the Netherlands.

One of the most beautiful Museum/ palaces that I’ve been too. A must visit! Stunning! Breathtaking! The audioguide was thorough and informative. Would definitely visit again when I come back! We didn’t get tickets ahead of time, but we didn’t have to wait when we got there. By the time we left, at around 2:30, there was a line up.

I was very pleasantly surprised at the decadent details in every nook and cranny. The exterior does not give away any hints to the delightful interior. Take the time to listen to the audio tour as every single detail holds mountains of symbolism. A delightful visit

Pleasantly surprised! My travel companion mentioned this place several times then was on the fence when we actually had the opportunity. I ended up convincing them to do it and I was glad I did. So much information, history and beautiful arts. The published time is 75 minutes however, the time absolutely depends on your interests. I do recommend it! We went early, which was good since as we were finishing there was a huge crowd.

12/27/2022 I went more because my family likes this sort of stuff. If you like monarchy themed pomp and circumstance, then you'll like to hear all about the folks of them palace. The carvings and architecture was impressive. Kids are free and adult price isn't too much. The family enjoyed it.

Lavish, extravagant interior, the audio tour provided so much information about the history and significance of palace and the rooms. The building architecture is also quite beautiful and it is always a happening place at the same square. It was a very informative and nice visit.

Great way to spend an hour checking out and learning about the history of the palace, which still serves official functions once in a while. The best part of the self guided tour is the easy to use headset. It also has the side benefit of keeping everyone quiet as they listen to the interesting history behind the marbled palace.

It is totally worth the 12.50 euro entrance fee, informative, and lovely experience. Beautiful building with historic facts, and you even get a head set to listen to rather than copious reading, which makes it an interactive experience. Would recommend if you have an hour or 2 to get away from the crowds.

Definitely worth a visit! Really beautiful. I went a few times. Fun with the audio tour. It was free with the museum card. Important to check online, before your visit, whether it's open or not.

Excellent option to those who love architecture; multiple galleries with luxurious and elegant furniture, paintings and sculptures. The royal palace is one of the most iconic buildings in Amsterdam. The price of the ticket is affordable and the whole tour takes between one and two hours. If you are in the Dam square area, the visit is definitely worth.

It was such a nice experience to walk around in a palace that to this day is still being used by the royal family. The queues where short and the free audio guide and wardrobe were amazing additions the staff was friendly and the palace is really pretty to walk around in, we spent around 50 minutes here.

The Royal palace is an amazing place to visit and witness the magnificent interior, architecture and history. They have audio tours in various languages and it’s really easy to navigate in the palace using the Audio tour guide. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The Royal Palace Amsterdam is a beautiful and impressive building that is well worth a visit. It is located in the heart of the city, on Dam Square, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Amsterdam. The palace was built in the 17th century and was originally used as the town hall. It was later converted into a royal palace and is now used for official functions such as state visits and royal weddings. The interior of the palace is stunning, with lavishly decorated rooms and a grand staircase. The most famous room in the palace is the Throne Room, which is where the Dutch royal family receives guests. The palace is open to the public for tours, and there is also an audio guide available. The tour takes about an hour and covers the history of the palace, as well as the different rooms and their decorations. Overall, the Royal Palace Amsterdam is a fascinating and beautiful building that is well worth a visit. It is a great way to learn about the history of Amsterdam and the Dutch royal family. Here are some pros and cons of visiting the Royal Palace Amsterdam: Pros: Stunning architecture Lavish interior Interesting history Audio guide available Convenient location Cons: Can be crowded Tickets can be expensive Not much to see if you're not interested in royal history Overall, I would recommend visiting the Royal Palace Amsterdam if you're interested in Dutch history or architecture. It's a beautiful building with a lot to offer visitors. Here are some tips for visiting the Royal Palace Amsterdam: Book your tickets in advance, especially if you're visiting during the busy season. Arrive early to avoid the crowds. Wear comfortable shoes, as you'll be doing a lot of walking. Take your time and enjoy the atmosphere. Lots to see and interesting history to listen to. When you go in, they give you a digital audio guide with headphones. As you go through the rooms in the palace, you get to listen to lots of history and stories (lasts around 1 hour and 30 minutes, or longer). A nice experience and a beautiful building with beautiful art and sculptures. Would recommend!

A superb palace with detailed information about all that can be found within, whether it's the paintings, sculptures, or the rooms themselves. It was quite educational too, learning quite a bit about the history of the building. I recommend seeing it if you want to learn about the history of one of the most iconic buildings of Amsterdam, found in the Dam Square (I especially loved the very first room of the palace with the statue of Atlas holding the world)

Absolutely stunning. If you're into history and beautiful art, this is a must. Plan on spending at least a couple of hours, and opt for the free audio tour. They will provide headsets, but if you have a 3.5mm headset or earbuds, bring those - theirs are convenient but a little uncomfy.

It’s very beautiful! The best part is you can explore on your own accord. There’s two floors and lines weren’t long around 4PM Amsterdam standard time. If you get your tickets early on Getyourguide, you won’t have to wait however if you need tickets, you might have to wait longer!
