Great experience at the cocoa museum. It's small but has the important info and smells great. With cocoa art on the wall and lots to learn and discover. We did the tasting experience through Groupon and that's a recommendation to understand and taste the huge difference and know which chocolate you want to buy. Buying is not mandatory but it's hard not to. 😉

Cocoa museum in the cocoa district of Amsterdam. The guide knows a lot, but for me he is not an enthusiastic storyteller. It is interesting to hear how the cocoa/chocolate making process goes. Followed by a tasting. Where you learn that you cannot not chew chocolate, that you can discover flavors and that good chocolate must have good crack. Also sell delicious chocolate.

Best chocolate shop in Amsterdam. Huge range of single origin chocolate. We had a very educational tour of chocolate production and history of chocolate. Fascinating experience!

Didn't update their website or Facebook with any info about their summer closure. Got to the museum and was very disappointed to find it was closed.

Great place to learn about from bean to bar chocolate, and taste chocolate from different countries. They also have tea and coffee.

Lots of interesting information and videos. The homemade chocolate was also very tasty 😋 I didn't expect so much for the free Eibtrot entry 👍

I do not recommend the Cacaomuseum. I booked a guided tour and chocolate tasting and my expectations weren’t met. The tour is ok because you get to learn about cacao and the process of chocolate making but the tasting itself is very disappointing. You basically get 3 ounces of different chocolates, that’s it. The owner of the museum tries to make it theatrical by making you hear the crack when breaking the chocolate, making you smell it, taste it and then paint on a paper the colour that the chocolate suggests to you. But It is more you saying what you think of the chocolate and the owner just reading from the packaging the exact flavour notes. You can also buy different chocolates at home and do it yourself rather than paying 15 euros. Also the building is extremely narrow and impractical.

Small but nice and worth seeing! No crowds and enough time to have everything about the chocolate explained to you. We visited as part of a bookable Fiat 500 tour. But you can also easily reach it by bike or public transport.

Great place to find your exclusive bar of chocolate. See the history of cacao and taste the chocolate. If you love chocolate, this is the place to be.

We went to visit and for a bonbons workshop with a couple of friends. The atmosphere was great, the place was very cozy. Mr. Henkjan, our host, gave us a very interesting talk about the origins of cacao and all the amazing things you can make from the cacao pod. We got to taste cacao tea, great fair trade chocolate and cacao fruit juice, all of which which were amazing. We learned a lot of interesting facts and had a great time playing around with chocolate. There was also a little shop where you could buy a great variety of fair trade chocolate and some other interesting products. The bonbons workshop and the visit took about 2.5 hours in total and every moment of it was great. We also got to take our pralines home! I highly recommend visiting this place and doing a workshop!

Small, cozy museum. There was no wait, it was quite cozy and the manager was nice. There is an opportunity to try chocolate with pepper and cinnamon. Entrance is free, coffee and chocolate are at reasonable prices. I recommend 30_50 minutes of your time.

Only bought something, but the help was very friendly. I was immediately offered a piece of chocolate by the owner, who clearly has a lot of knowledge. Nice place!

A sweet, unassuming little place. The owner is very passionate about chocolate and its history - he will happily explain the history of cacao to you for free, with the offer of a (paid) chocolate tasting experience to follow it up.
