I hate to reference people because I didn't cruise with them all but Joram Baruch is the best cruise captian I have had in all the years. And yes I highly recommend getting caught out in the rain if you can. There were 11 of us and we all had a great time and the thunderstorm made it that much better parking under the bridges and joking around. I just may hop on a second time before I leave.

One of iconic places to have very beautiful views and photos of buildings close to each other on waterfront If you have time you can book through a tour and it’s amazing and unforgettable moments

Walk right there from the Amsterdam Center train station. It is November and cold so dress warm. You can hear the tour in English or select your language on wi-fi. Saw the seven bridges along with many homes and the harbor. Dutch history of world .

We took part in the boat tour and caught this wonderful view. A truly enjoyable activity should definitely participate and listen to the story of these houses. Preservation of historical structures is quite good. There are many points you can watch here. A nice point to take pictures. 🙂

Enjoyed the tour - one of the highlights of our short trip! We wanted an open boat and when I googled it, Stromma came up! I'm glad we chose them. The guide/driver was awesome in pointing out cool buildings and structures/historical facts. My only complaint is we sat near the front of the boat and the walls were too high to really see from the front. We found ourselves having to strain a bit.

Joined the light festival on the second day of Christmas. The scenery was no doubt amazing with Christmas lights filling the streets and canal houses, BUT I wouldn't recommend this tour. The condensation and scratches on the glass was affecting the overall experience and if you were to be seated away from the window like me, half of your view would have been blocked by the crowd. The boat was going too slow it felt like a stretch. For an hour plus journey I think it could have been done in 40 mins or less. Children started throwing tantrum, people going to the toilet and focusing on their phone were just some of the signs. I actually find my walk along the canal streets more enjoyable as the experience comes with unhindered view.

This was an amazing experience in the small rivers of Amsterdam. Unfortunately we had to wait for the start of the tour on the boat for some time, but it was worth it. The tour guide was friendly and told us much details on our 1,5h trip. Take sunscreen and a cap with you if it's sunny ;)

Great open top boat tour of the canals. Intimate and personalised experience, our boat 11 passengers and Cameron, our boat pilot and city guide. Cameron was really knowledgeable of the local areas and Amsterdam's canal history. If I was going to go on another canal tour, I'd go with these guys again!

We took the nighttime boat tour of the festival of lights, and it was great! A very relaxing, different way to see Amsterdam.

I’m on the boat now and it’s a horrible ‘tour’. The earphones are pointless and stay silent 90% of the time. When they do turn on, they have reset and you need to find your language channel again. So much history around us and this tour offers no insight. Don’t waste your time and money - you’ll be disappointed in the silent earphones.

Great tour with a knowledgeable guide. Was really worth every penny and I would recommend the smaller boats over the larger tours all day long.

16 euros for 1:10 boat tour in Amsterdam. It’s a nice ride but the guide is a bit repetitive. I think it could be better if they start telling a bit more about the story of the city and the reasons of the things. But the boat is fine

Great experience and brilliant tour. The captain was amazing and really nice even said that my little boy could kneel on the seats so he could see out the window better. I found the tour to be a fantastic way to see the stunning country even better and really enjoyed the guided tour they had playing through the speakers. The boat itself was very clean and comfortable. We were two very happy sailors and would definitely recommend and will do the tour again

I enjoyed our boat trip a lot, our sailor was AMAZING and our ride so much fun with his jokes and interesting stories. The scenery of Amsterdam is way more beautiful from the boats. This is something must do when you are in Amsterdam.

Must take this tour as you they cover the city from the water way and also with nice humorous comments. Have put random pics from the boat tour

A nice way to spend an hour in Amsterdam touring the canals. The tour specifies language and the boat driver also subs as the tour guide. There’s usually no food on the 1 hour tours, and is priced between 11-20€. It does cover a bit of history and background about the city but nothing in depth. So you won’t get bored. No wifi on board.

I really enjoyed the canal swim. It was very good that there was a choice of audio guide in Russian. We were sailing through narrow channels, so there were some traffic jams of boats and vaccas (we were gently bumped by a boat once). The views were authentic as the network of canals and streets ran parallel and are very much low bridges. It was interesting to see the churches and the decorated narrow houses while sailing.

This was a highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. The cruise was well worth the money as we saw Amsterdam from a perspective we would not have otherwise. The captain was a friendly lady who also provided some comments and notes on the sights not part of the recorded voiceover. Also she slowed the boat for better photo ops at key locations. I can recommend this tour.

Well run cruise operator with the larger boats, no issues, all good. Stromma is one of the supporters who are trying to grow the Amsterdam Light Festival during the holidays, which are art installations along the canal. Really impressive effort (see photo of one example taken near the Hortusbrug on the Nieuwe Herengracht). Cruise took about an hour and 15 minutes, which went by quickly.

Unfortunately it was raining. But the Captain Erick really helped us, there were a few umbrellas and blankets, so don't worry. The cashier was also helpful and nice.

Did the light festival open boat tour with the tour guide Eric. For a foreigner living in Amsterdam for many years, Eric is the best tour guide of canal boat I have had. He gave both insightful histories of Amsterdam canal houses and very nice introduction of the art of the light festival. Highly recommend! Will come back again for the tour!

Really upset by this experience. They sold me a ticket for a 2 hours and half tour but because of ice the tour was shortened to less than an hour ... nothing has been proposed to replace the cut tour

  • 5/5 David D. 1 year ago on Google
A greaf way to see some of Amsterfam. Commentary was informative, captain was skilled at operating such a large vessel in confined spaces and in such cold weather the heated boat was a welcome break from the chill!

  • 4/5 Paul R. 1 year ago on Google
We did an hours boat tour at 6 pm and saw the festival of light. During the trip, we saw some stunning properties, narrow but tall. Apparently, this was due to taxation. Some of the houseboats are extremely expensive and can cost in excess of £1M.

  • 1/5 Ivelin P. 1 year ago on Google
I rarely leave a bad review, but I am very disappointed by the audio guide. Very shallow facts, almost nothing interesting, close to no history, long pauses without any information. So it’s basically a boat tour with some occasional uninteresting facts. The most interesting thing was that two people fell in the canal during the boat tour.

  • 5/5 Valentina V. 1 year ago on Google
The boat itself was not in a good condition but we had a great time thanks to the helmsman - Robert! He made the whole tour super fun and enjoyable!

  • 4/5 Keren G. 1 year ago on Google
Went on the boat as a family. The tour lasted just over an hour. We bought the tickets on line the evening before. Lovely covered boat ride with an audio tour of the city.

  • 5/5 André Z. 11 months ago on Google
We had a tour in a classic (covered) boat, and appreciated a lot the friendly attitude of our pilot and guide, with the right proportion of informative vs. funny comments. The boat was in good condition and the tour was quite extensive. The boat was far from full, which made the tour quite calm and relaxed.

  • 4/5 Jorge R. 10 months ago on Google
Great experience at a great price; only 13 euros per adult. You can buy drinks and snacks while cruising the canals. The route is about one hour long; really interesting and beautiful, very recommended. You don't need to reserve in advance, there are many spots and trips available all day long.

Nice trip in Amsterdam canal , beautiful view

We had a canal cruise on the 11th of May at 3 pm. The best tour ever!!! The captain was like a stand up comedian, we couldn’t stop laughing, but he didn’t skip a thing, told is everything. I know because everytime I visit Amsterdam I take a canal cruise. One thing changed: I only want my canal cruises when this guy is our captain! So much fun, he really made my day!!! Compliments from us!

It was a very enjoyable boat tour. The descriptions were great and the captain and staff were very friendly! They have free wifi onboard that gibes access to the boat tour in 19 languages. It is amazing in the evening, specially at the sunset!!

Great cruise experience around Amsterdam, really informative and comical. 🍕 Pizza was great. Drinks kept flowing 🍻. Joseph and Natasha were awesome! Would recommend booking 👍

The open boat canal tour was our favorite so far in Amsterdam (to find this tour, go all the way to the left on the waterside for about 23 EU. We are from America and was very happy to easily find this tour in English AND non-smoking. (There are other tours for smokers, drinkers, etc). Our Captain was great and funny. He knew his history and every point of interest. My favorite was all the information about the building of the water ways.

  • 4/5 Sandra O. 7 years ago on Google
The cruise itself was quite nice. The guide was although just a radio speaking 4 different languages one at a time so it was quite noisy of languages you couldn't understand.

  • 4/5 Karl P. 5 years ago on Google
Nice tour of the Amsterdam canals. Boat was nice and clean, good views all round and toilet available on board. Speaker system needs turning up, some of the narration was very quiet. And the captain didn't seem very friendly, hardly said 2 words all the way round. Apart from that, good tour.

My wife and I went on the dinner cruise during the Festival of Lights. The food was awesome, and seeing Amsterdam on the water is really cool!

  • 1/5 Rolf van der K. 2 years ago on Google
Old smelly boats, lousy audio and unfriendly (visible bored) staff. Please go to vanderKooij or others for a canal tour. They are cheaper for adults, better sitting (family tables instead of rows) and more information during the tour and.... cheaper for kids. And they have working toilets, stromma not. O, and the guide/captain three times lifted his arm during the tour. Not sure if this was exercising or pointing out 3 sites to see. Very very bad. Not worth your money.

  • 4/5 Mark A. 7 years ago on Google
“Great experience” We had to line up for about an hour and it was annoying as there was so many people but it was worth it. Once on the boat it was comfortable, informative and enjoyable. I would recommend it to anyone. Buy a I Amsterdam city card as this gives you not only travel on the buses and the trams but also canal tours.

We took a boat trip beginning of November. It was a very wet cold day but boat was surprisingly warm! The windows condensated every few minutes but we were provided with a window wiper. I cannot praise the tour guide enough (sorry cant remember his name) he was very knowledgeable about the area, went above and beyond with a few funny stories of his own. Well worth the money and Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

  • 5/5 Angelos S. 2 years ago on Google
A good opportunity to get a overall view of the city. Worth the visit. On the tour you can make some nice pictures and learn a little bit about the history of the city.

  • 4/5 Rachael A. 4 years ago on Google
Really nice canal cruise. Wide seats for two people. Audio guide headphones included, with many languages supported. Tour guide was very friendly and supplemented the audio guide with extra tips and knowledge. The boat was warm when it was cold and wet outside. I wished more windows opened so I could take pictures without glass in front. Also they need to clean there windows as they are a bit hazy. But we saw lots and it was worth the price. If we went again I’d pick a row with a window that opens. Note I think the prices are cheaper if you book online yourself.

Really good tour! we got a great tour of the Amsterdam light festival. clean boats and very courteous crew.

  • 1/5 Nic 1 year ago on Google
Went on this tour today as the guy in the cap at the front said it passed the Anne Frank House. It didn't - he lied to get us on the boat. When we got off he went and hid as he knew he'd done wrong. Harry the boat driver was nice.

  • 5/5 Jim C. 1 year ago on Google
We did the afternoon wine and cheese tour. There was a generous serving of cheese and crackers with plenty of refills on the wine. The cruise was a great way to see a lot of Amsterdam landmarks. The captain narrated the tour and gave lots of interesting facts about what we were seeing and the history of Amsterdam.

  • 3/5 Juanita A. 1 year ago on Google
The route and sites were beautiful. The audio did not work for our very cramped seats, and the windows were extremely dirty

  • 5/5 Akhilesh T. 1 year ago on Google
Superb live commentary by boat driver. He explained everything about city very clearly.

  • 5/5 Agnieszka R. 1 year ago on Google
Great audio tour available in 19 languages. They also have an open boat tour but it's only in English and I couldn't translate that much but the semi covered boat with all languages was also very interesting to do. Best company and great prices.

We went for the light festival open boat tour and it was worth every penny. It is better to book on Friday because it is less crowded. It was hour fifteen minutes tour and the cost (23euro) was very reasonable compare to the other service providers. I boat left on time. It was freezing that night but they provided enough blankets. The boat went to all the light works and the operator explained very well in Dutch and English.

  • 5/5 Katy U. 1 year ago on Google
Great tour with audio guide in a variety of languages included. I would recommend sitting on the left hand side to get more out of the tour sights. The tour lasted just over an hour. Very friendly staff working at the ticket kiosk and the captain was very chilled. Can feel a bit stuffy as enclosed.

We would definitely do this again! Our tour guide Rene was wonderful. He really seemed to love and appreciate his city. His presetation style was conversational and informal. And we really liked him a lot. We felt like The Open Boat really added to the tour. The people in the glass topped boats looks like bugs in a museum. It did rain on our tour but we were provided with ponchos and it passed quickly. What a terrific way to see the city and learn about the history. Why is the Blue Bridge actually gray? You'll have to go to find out!

  • 5/5 Ludmilla F. 1 year ago on Google
It was an amazing tour! The guide was funny and friendly, the crew polite and kind. Delicious cheeses and snacks. Wine served throughout the tour. Great. It was really worth it!
