What a pleasure it was to visit this collection! You need to book in advance, I was welcomed at the door and after 10 mins wait in the entrance which is a museum on its own for other guests, we were assigned a great tour guide who was also an art student! The tour is for 60 mins and you go about the house while the tour guide explains the different aspects of art and history. The collection is absolutely unreal with how well preserved all the items are! Some of them dated back to the sixteenth century. The crème de le crème were the masterful Rembrandts and seeing the portrait of Jan Six I in person was like an emotional roller coaster. The timing of the tour was sharp and no photography is allowed (understandable). The tour accommodates 10 people so be sure to have your booking way aback. Great experience, great collection.

What a wonderful privilege to visit the Six Collection! I booked months in advance through their website and grew excited as the date approached but the actual tour/house was even better than my expectation! Unmissable if you're planning to visit Amsterdam try and book a visit to this family heritage.

I'm not into just art, I'm into history, I'm into good stories and facts. I like when all of that if it is well connected and well explained or told. I really enjoyed the visit. It was, in my opinion, much better than the Rijksmuseum. Without an app and huge building there was much more of an authentic history behind. Till now the nr. 1 of Amsterdam for me.

This is an amazing experience and is definitely worth it if you can get a spot! There is an art historian who takes you around the main floor of the house to discuss the artwork with you. You also get some family history and Dutch history along the way. The house itself is also a work of art; even though this family has only lived there since the early 20th century, it is a 17th-century house. My favorite was the 17th-century painting of a woman holding a pair of gloves---and they have the gloves in a frame right beside it. Also---Ignore the moron who gave a 1-star review because they were too full of themselves and didn't think they needed an appointment. You need an appointment. The website clearly says you need an appointment. It is someone's private house, after all. Have some respect.

The best private museum in Amsterdam! Real hidden gem! Go on its website and book your spot well in advance. You will be welcomed for an hour guided tour. Inside you will discover not only Rembrandt but stunning interiors and collection of art and things from all around the world. Family Six still live in the house. Photos inside are prohibited. My favorite story is about to buy part of neighbor’s house to fit the large painting painted by Paulus Potter in 1653. Gorgeous painting with N Tulp’s son on the horse. Marvelous!

Beautiful, beyond words. Very special. Geert Mak's book, the lives of Jan Six, is a great preparation for a visit.

Absolutely amazing tour of this 17th century house. It’s famous Rembrandt May be it’s star (they have two) but it sits in a whole constellation. The guide did a brilliant job highlighting many interesting and varied objects held within the collection.

Check the website daily for open time slots and don’t forget to have your email confirmation in hand - my name was mistakenly not on their list. Very welcoming staff, amazing collection, a must see!

Wouldn’t let us in, booking 6 months in advance?!?!? We came all the way from US and my stepfather who is a painter, has always wanted to see this collection but they wouldn’t budge, said to go on website to request a tour (months in advance which is totally absurd) we were even there on Friday morning at 10 which is the only time they’re open, no luck.
