The collection of aircrafts contains as modern passenger and military jets and helicopters as many of planes from 1920s -1950s. There is a small section for space exploration too. You can actually climb inside of DC-3, An-2, and B747! There is actual gyroplane and Canstelation in the part of exposition in the main hall. Do not miss exposition in the hangars that are outside. There a few military jets including the very first Fokker jet. The replica of Schiphol back from 1930 is delightful. Special thanks to the guide from the radio room about amazing insights on early days of radio communication between airplanes. Many thanks to the guide who patiently tried to help me land the aircraft in F22 simulator. There are a lot of fun facilities for kids too. There a Cafe to have a bite and coffee. The parking is big and just opposite the museum entrance. Reserve 3-4 or more hours to take a look if you like airplanes 🛬

The place is unbelievable, it has a lot of airplanes, all the eras, you can see and read a lot of history there. If you like the aeronautics you are gonna love this place. You can even go inside of a KLM plane with two floors. You can go FREE with the Museum Card. Definitely worth it.

Great aeronautic museum in Lelystad. You're welcome in a great hall, with the indoor kids playground, the restaurant, the souvenier shop and the beginning of the tour. You begin with the early flight attempts and go through the history of Dutch aviation history. This is complemented with real size models of planes, from different eras. Moreover, you can go inside some of them and feel how it was done on that time. You finish the tour with the aerospatial era, with models of satellites and the space station. You finish the tour on the welcome hall and there are outside exhibitions of airplanes and the outdoor kids playground.

The experience was good. It has detailed explanations of flight history pertaining to the Netherlands and the world at large. There are old planes to enter so you can witness how 20th Century planes were designed, from the cockpit to the passenger area. It touches upon flight schedules and has pictures dating back to the 20s. There is a whole flight hangar and a map to help navigate the entire flight musuem. Finally there's a 4D cinema that shows a short movie. P.S. The movie is in Dutch with no subtitles. For those with kids, there are playing areas for them to be entertained while on the trip. I'm not huge on plane history however it's a good experience!

Awesome place if you're into airplane history. Covers most dutch history on airplane evolution but also covers other countries.

This museum certainly was on the to-do list and it didn't disappoint. The museum staff are friendly and helpful. The displays are well presented, giving visitors an in-depth tour of the history of aviation here in the Netherlands. One note: if you are having issues with the parking kiosk, go back to the front desk and pay for parking. The kiosk didn't accept my visa or MasterCard.

Absolutely breathtaking museum. Very large and informative there's something for everyone to do. We made the mistake of going on a weekend where it was packed which made it hard to get around but that ls on us. I'm very happy we we ventured out to go to this museum

Great museum for young and old. All parts of aviation covered, lots of plains can be visited inside. Great with kids but also for aviation enthousiasts

Great fun for the whole family. We went with kids 12 and 7 and found the experience both educational and very entertaining. The museum is spread out incredibly smartly by people who obviously know how to keep kids entertained. Only thing to note negatively was the Cafe that was full of flies and absolutely not appetizing.

Perfect place for a day out and view old planes. Lots of play area for kids. Good collection from old and new planes. The staff is very friendly. The bus connection from the station is at every hour.

You can see the history of aviation starting with the Wright brothers and Louis Blériot's crossing of the channel to modern aviation. There are enough planes to get an understanding how aviation progressed throughout the years. Including 3 pre ww1 planes, several ww1 fighter planes but not many ww2 fighter planes. There are also 20's and 30's passenger planes and some helicopters and some fighter jets. I would highly recommend this if you like planes

I would definitely say this museum is extremely worth it to pay whole entrance fee. Even though I have my museum card, I cannot help paying the fee because of the absence of physical card at that moment. Thought it was quite much when I paid, but it wasn't true. When I went into the museum, experience all the flights from history and play ground, all of instruments are gorgeous, kids friendly, good for families. Now I can even pay double! It was amazing!

The museum is nice. It has a lot of airplanes and takes from the history of aviation to modern times. Many walk in mock ups of planes. Very interactive and great place to go with children. There is a nice playground out side for when the weather is good. The food however is not too good or healthy. There is a barn/restaurant close by called Boerkok. I had lunch there and it was amazing. Very recommend.

A great place to spend some time with your kids. We visit after 13 and couldn’t finish everything. You need to give at least 4-5 hours to see everything in a relaxed way.

  • 5/5 Srikant K. 1 year ago on Google
Nice place to keep a 5 year old occupied for 4-5 hrs. The exhibits are both indoors as well as outdoor making it an all weather place to visit. The museum itself is fascinating for someone interested in planes. There are also play areas for kids.

Great museum for kids. You get to see the history of aircraft evolution but more than that lot of play stuff for kids. You can have a relaxed day outing with kids. Parking ticket can be bought onsite from machine. It's 7.5,eur. Free entry for museum card holders. Cafe is decent. Their souvenir shop is cute with nice collection.

This is amongst the best experiences for both young and older kids but even adults. Well designed and ever expanding museum with interesting exhibits such as the 747 which you can even visit inside etc.. I have visited this twice and I have had great time. The inside part covers adequately history of aviation. Parking facilities and catering as well.

  • 2/5 Monica D. 3 years ago on Google
The museum itself is very nice with great displays and playgrounds. What i did not like is that social distancing measures put in place were not at all enforced and i actually decided to leave because of it. For example, inside the 747 there was no staff checking the number of people. This resulted in high numbers in a small enclosed space where distancing was impossible. Many people also didn't care :( In the restaurant there was a sign stating that only 8 people could be inside at once, yet there were at least 30 people inside, resulting in a huge queue at the till with most people having to stand very close together. The staff inside did nothing about this situation at all. When i insisted on waiting before going in, the people behind me complained and badgered me and i felt that a member of staff really should have said something at this point, but they all ignored it. What I found really disappointing was that the museum required us to book a slot to visit so that there was a safe number of people inside. But when we arrived, they were allowing anyone to come in, even without a booking, and this was clear from the very large numbers of people inside. My advice...do not go, or make sure you wear a mask and are willing to risk your health!

Was erg leuk, ook voor de kinderen, alleen erg jammer dat je niet in alle vliegtuigen kan kijken en erg beperkt in de Jumbojet. Een kijkje in de cockpit had erg leuk geweest. Maar over all was het erg leuk. Duidelijke corona handhaving. Voor het restaurant een tip om handschoenen te gebruiken voor de hygiëne.

Very nice museum where you can see the history of airplanes. Some interactive displays where you can play and they have a flight simulator where you can practice landing a plane (or crashing it in my case). There is an indoor playground (more for 3 year or older), and an outside playground and a lot of open space. I definitely will come back once my kid is 3year or older.

A nice place to take your kid(s). There is a lot to see and to do. You see the start of flying to the first commercial airliner straight up to the most iconic plane. The exhibition is made nice and gives children hands on experiences as well. The staff mostly volunteers are doing a great job explaining all. With special notice for the man handling the radio chamber!

Very nice place, exceeded my expectations. Especially the indoor exhibition is very extended Interesting for all ages! I went there with my kids of 4 and 8, even before we left the premisses they asked me to go there again😀.

(Translated by Google) It's a nice place if you really like airplanes and aviation history. If you don't care about planes and their history it's not for you. Furthermore, we had a successful day. Can sit outside on the terrace in the shade and sun. Children can play well in the playground. Toilet facilities are fine. Because it is now corona time. Did they also make walking routes there, and especially in the inner part that still causes congestion because there is also a lot of text explanation on the walls, so people are reading the walking routes. I also understand that it is sometimes quite difficult to keep everything running smoothly. The information that there is about the history and present is very well explained. The outside part is also fine to do, lots of space so you do not get in each other's way. What we did find disappointing was the souvenir shop at the exit, this was very thin. Not many gadgets. But besides that, we had a great time there for a few hours of plane spotting.

The Aviodrome is a nifty aviation museum. My 5 year old liked it, though his favorite part was the indoor playground. My 3 year old was too short out too young for most everything. The museum section was too long for both of them, though I liked it. So my oldest has his "pilot's" license for my scavenger hunt efforts lol. Kid Highlights: Indoor playground (big-3 and up). 4d movie (didn't try the 3yo in there). Outdoor trampoline (3yo too small). Flight simulation. Adult Highlights: English translation in maybe half the museum. The Spitfire exhibit was awesome (a lil scary for 5 and under). Could be better: the Snack and Drink voucher I got online covers an appelflap and coffee. Coffee cannot be swapped for something kids can drink. And English translation in maybe half the museum.

If you are an aviation enthusiast, this is a GREAT museum. I loved my visit. The staff here are extremely friendly, helpful, and engaging. Always greeting people with a smile and asking if you have any questions or where are you from. Really great. They do a tremendous job taking people through the aviation history of the Netherlands era by era. A journey through time. The collection of old artifacts from early KLM days are special. The collection of aircraft is simply staggering and I love the fact you can go onboard some of the great ones. KLM 747, Super Constellation, DC-3, Fokker, MiG, DC-6 and many, many more. The old airport terminal that was reconstructed is very interesting. I love all the artifacts they have inside including an amazing collection of old radio’s. The gentlemen was very kind to give me the history of this equipment and how it was used. The museum has a nice cafe and a small museum shop. I took the train from Amsterdam to Lelystad followed by a bus that drops you off across the street from the museum (it is about a 10 min walk from the bus stop). It took about an hour. I spent about 4.5 hours at the museum and could have easily spent longer (I was taking a lot of photos as well).

Worths a visit! It took us 5 hours and we didn't see every detail. There is a 4 D movie, motion simulator, playground, flight simulator (1.6 height minimum but children can stay inside and watch). Also Museum Card is accepted.

Had a lovely afternoon out with my 9 year old son. The museum has many models and planes on display that kids and adults can explore. Outside you'll find some kids attractions where kids can use all their imagination 😄 tickets are way cheaper if you purchase them from selected partners. Experience flights are optional but absolutely not worth the money. It's cheaper to go next door en book a 20/30 minute flight with other operators on the airport. Parking fee is reasonable but you can easily park for free, especially in the weekend at the empty spaces next to the companies at the airport or at the fuel station

  • 5/5 Refik T. 7 months ago on Google
You can find everything about aviation industry. You should plan all day for this museum. There are many more activities for kids. Also you can get on and test many planes. There are many simulation machines. Do not forget to visit amazing museum shop.

Really nice place to visit, and take your family and kids, with a lot information to learn about airplanes and space! They have a really cool 4D show in the theater! You can feel the wind when you see the old planes flying! :) Don't let a rainy day prevent you from going there, you will still enjoy it! We were lucky that it was also the Flight Simulator week so we got the chance to try some simulators! Pretty nice! It was amazing to see the great community there is around flight simulator; could not imagine that. For sure will return there! Maybe even to go to some flying schools that exist there. Who knows?! :)
