A great museum that has so much to offer. This is not a museum that you hear people talking about it a lot. But it was full of wonderful surprises. So much to explore, learn, play and the place is so clean, organized and spacious. And all the films and guide has English language or subtitles! Even the outdoor play area is better than most of the play grounds. A super fun and education day with kids.

Excellent museum. Well laid out exhibits and displays Something for all ages Didn't try the cafe or walk around the grounds as I was on a tight timescale trying to squeeze as much in as I could. Approx £15 entrance and ample parking. Staff helpful and informative

One of the museum that I learned about history related to wars and weapons of Nederlands. I spent the time going around the exhibits and rides. Sad to see that they are charging for rides , but it is justifiable. It has good cafeteria and restaurant. I tried cold fudge coffee

Really interesting museum about Dutch military history and technology, with lots of impressive displays of planes, tanks, artillery, guns, etc. The building is very spacious and there is a large outside area associated with the museum as well. The surroundings are great for a walk, run, or bike trip. Lots of things to do also for kids, with playgrounds, displays targeted at kids. Certainly a must see for anyone interested in military history and weaponry in the Netherlands.

The museum has huge collection of weapons, military aircrafts, tanks, and other vehicles. It it's located inside modern building and on the nearby air field. There are original V1 and V2 rockets, F16, Leopard 1 and 2 among the other gems. There many interactive activities for children to learn history. If you're history fun, reserve 4-5 hours to visit. There are 2 cafeterias. The outside playgrounds for children including small pool with water.

A museum that is definitely worth visiting - extensive and interactive exhibition (lots of vehicles, installations, documentaries), fun indoor playground for children, free parking, espresso bar with a nice view. It was a lovely day out with our kids of 6 & 8.

Very modern and open museum showcasing historical and more recent transportation and equipment of the armed forces. It is situated in the middle of a military area, so you won't end up there by chance, but it is worth the trip! I went for the screening of the Sabaton film "The war to end all wars" and stayed to check out the rest of the place.

Perhaps the largest war museum in the Netherlands. It mostly covers the history of the Dutch armed forces. Big collection of military vehicles and uniforms. The collection can be viewed and experienced both in and outside. Quite popular with kids.

One word, wow! One of the best museums I have been too. It gives a full overview of all aspects of the Dutch military. From the history, to military customs and ofcourse all sorts of gear and weapons. Everything was displayed in ingenious ways and you could easily fill a full day to look at everything. I would certainly go again and recommended it to everyone that has even the slightest of interest in anything military.

This is an Dutch Military museum, and it is an classic for tank-lovers. Here you can see the beautiful, but very dangerous tanks from close distance. All of these military stuff and vehicles are used by the Dutch army, of foreign origin, and edited by the Dutch to their own requirements. Some of these tanks are from German origin, some from French, Brutish or American origin. All the tanks in this museum are no longer in use by the Dutch army, because of better versions. Also airplanes get better and better, and that's why there are a lot different airplanes, developed over the years. This museum has also a lot of military clothes, used by the Dutch around the 13th century. In this museum you can see the beauty of the military history of the Netherlands. I would gladly recommend this for everyone who is interested in the military history!

Very large and lovingly designed exhibition of small arms, artillery, land and air vehicles and uniforms etc. Even visitors who are less enthusiastic about technology can spend a few hours here in numerous information rooms with stories, eyewitness accounts and film and photo material from the last century. For any fan of military history and technology, this museum is well worth the long journey!

Great museum including a variety of aircraft and army equipment. A lot of interactive activities in the museum itself like a tour inside an old air force transportation plane or even a video game. Great for all ages and some impressive pieces of equipment on display. Very much recommend a visit!

This museum is super interesting! Fun, awesome displays and an incredible collection. I loved the booths with stories from people who worked in the military. We were there for 5 hours and still didn't see and do everything. We will definitely visit again soon. Highly recommended!

Certainly one of the best museums in Europe, with an extensive collection spanning centuries of military items, most from the last century. "Hij of ik", a temporary expo that walks you through a bitter battle fought in the eyes of Léo, a Canadian, and Hans, a German. You'll experience the liberation of the Netherlands in the exhibition from a personal perspective. It's a must-see in the area!!

The museum is just a tiny grasp, out of military history. Its more for family's. Rather then lovers of military history. Some airplanes, some tanks, some swords and so on. It doesn't specialise in any particular field. Me brother's little child had a blast. The safe's where you put your coat or something else important in, were free of charge.

Majestic, immersive, involving and multimedia! Paradise for your old grandpa that went to the war to the youngest of his grandchildren that only know a world of peace, 3D movies and touch screens! Super recommend for all kids!

  • 5/5 Natalia L. 4 years ago on Google
A lot of machinery, planes, history, and interactive spots. Great for kids but I was entertained even being an adult. The only downside is the cafe didn't have a lot of options and even those were overpriced, probably due to the fact that the place is out of the way and if you get hungry you are just bound to eat there, so they use this inevitability

Erg leerzaam!

Mooi aangelegd museum in prachtige omgeving. Heel mooi gebouw. Leuk museum om eens rond te kijken. Gaaf spul tentoongesteld hier. Speeltuintje buiten is leuk.

(Translated by Google) Nice museum. Son of 10 loved everything! Especially driving in the mini tank. I thought it was a bit exaggerated that I had to pay 7.50 for a ride of less than 5 minutes. But despite that we had a very nice day! It was also somewhat misleading that there were people from the bank giro lottery at the main entrance to recruit members. I thought it was a corona check. (Original) Leuk museum.

(Translated by Google) Educational and impressive. It is a pity that the ride in the tracked vehicle has to yield € 10.00. Would be nicer if children belonging to one family had to pay 1 maximum price. Tracked vehicles often drive with empty places. Furthermore, had a nice day with grandchild. Recommended.

This will fill a whole they for you and your family and then some. Modern and spacious - check Educative and entertaining - check Space for kids to play - check Durability solutions and access - check Eating places - check Extra activities for children - check (extra fee)(do check schedules for availability) Parking space - check Covid19 proof - almost check (while they have directions to avoid overcrowding of the museum and of the different rooms, and even remind people over the general audio to respect the physical distances recommendations, well, it comes down to us to"enforce" it). They have several hand sanitizing stations across the museum. Unfortunately, bathrooms were designed "pre-covid19” You can make of it a biking day trip with the family ( even from hilversum if you dare!) Bring a camera! Not so much for your typical photos of museum stuff but for a nice and unique portrait opportunities of your family members in the open space around.

(Translated by Google) Nice museum and modern building. Lots of exhibition material, videos, sound recordings, displayed weapons, etc. Fun activities for children both indoors and outdoors. The only drawback is that corona rules are absolutely not adhered to. At the entrance, the impression is given that everything is very important, but no checks are made in the museum. A space where 10 people were allowed to be filled with space 30 people (!). Occasionally calls are made, keep your distance. It stays there. (Original) Mooi museum en modern gebouw. (Translated by Google) A very nice and modern museum outside of Utrecht on the site of an old military airport. In addition to the very extensive Dutch military history, the liberation of the Netherlands in the Second World War is well presented in terms of education. Using two real combatants, one from the perspective of a Canadian fighting for the Allies and later living in the Netherlands and on the other side a German occupation soldier, both portray their drastic experiences in parallel and in equal detail. It’s very impressive. Especially the vita of the Canadian, who takes part in D-Day as an 18-year-old volunteer, is wounded twice and could go home, but definitely wants to continue fighting until the end of the war, but later fails in civil and private life. That already touched me. It exemplifies many more of its generation. Otherwise, the outdoor area is very interesting for children. We recommend the children's rally or cross-country entry with an open driving school armor.

We enjoyed this place a lot. It is worth the drive or the long ride to it. Free parking nearby. For a cold or sunny day is perfect, when is warm, children can play outside in the multiple playgrounds. Inside the museum is big and cosy. The different areas, the amount and the arrange of the items is impressive. The interactive area is also very nice for children. Bring your own food! There is a restaurant but the food is not much and the price is not the best.

Lovely museum worth spending entire day, plenty to see and do for children as well. They have upgraded all descriptions with English too, in the past was Dutch only, I can understand so much more with English explanations! At this corona period they have a small coffee bar inside which is very expensive, however right outside the building there are food trucks with much more options at reasonable/normal price.

This is a fantastic museum: I have daughters but they loved to see the horses (stuffed animals), uniforms and airplanes. There is a terrace outside (sheltered) overseeing a playground and a small 'dam building playground with water' (it is advisable to bring a pair of dry socks as they can take off their shoes and play with bare feet). The museum has wide corridors for you to pass keeping social distancing in effect. Parking is free of charge and a five minute walk away from the main entrance. The busstop is also located five minutes from the main entrance. Last but not least: staff is very friendly, both at the museum as well as the bistro.

Great museum ... friendly and helpful staff... My only gripe is that there could be more 'hands on' small arms....but being ex infantry I would say that🙂 great to be able to learn about Dutch military but being a UK veteran all I can say is well done.

Beautiful museum both inside and out. Very modern and enough room to walk around during Covid. Outside is just as nice especially for kids with large play area. You can enjoy the outside without buying a ticket as well. Parking also good, but only 2(!) chargers for electric cars. The glorification of guns is sometimes too much, for example in the kids area you can play around with real (not working) guns/pistols.

The setting of the museum is beautiful. A large collection of war machines and other battle related stuff. We had a guide, an old man to show us around. He had some interesting things to tell us, but the museum is very "do-able" without a guide. And do take a walk around the museum, it's worth it.

Great musuem with loads of information about the Dutch military and lots of exhibits to look at. Can easily spend a 2-3 hours here. We'll worth the visit. You can also cycle along the old runway of the airbase and wander around the overgrown bunkers.

Extensive hardware display of Army and Airforce hardware going back to post WW2 era. Some cold War items. The historical section was a little confusing as to era. Displays far too dark and battled to see finer details. The printed legends on the windows barely legible due to minimal lighting and miniscule font. Also printed in white on clear glass - also too low down, so missed a lot. Restaurant selection a bit limited and not cheap. Children's play area imaginative and nicely constructed and safe. Toilets were plentiful and cleaned properly too. Parking was fine but will perhaps need more on a busy weekend.

Fantastic museum for all age groups. There is information in English but not everything, how good enough. The restaurant is terrible, the coffee bar is good. I recommend spending a full day here, just bring your own food.

Great military museum with many many old war vehicles🛻, planes🛩️, munition 💣, rifles 🔫, swords ⚔️ and so on. Also so much interesting information 🤓for both adults and children. Didn’t have the chance to see and read all of it! Also very nice activity for quiz hunt for children. And don’t forget the demonstration of tanks and other vehicles outside which was impressive. In the middle of the museum, there is a great and beautiful playground for small and older kids, and outside there is a training course to mimick military 🪖training 😎

Very nice museum focused on the Dutch military (airforce, army and a little bit of navy). Besides a exhibition displaying the history of the Dutch armed forces there are a lot of vehicles and aircraft on display. Lots of outdoor areas with activities for kids. There are some trails covering the area of the former Soesterberg airforce base (although nice walks in nature, I didn't find then that interesting). Ample parking available and there are EV chargers.

Tolle Ausstellungsstücke. Viele gute Objekte. Parken frei. Kinderfreundlich! Barrierefrei! Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. Auf diesem Wege ein Danke an dieselben 👍😊
