👍👍 Zaandam was beautiful. Pictures can't capture all of its beauty. We took a taxi from Amersterdam, it cost €15 for 4 of us. It's free to enter, but there are options to climb some of the windmills for a fee. Parking is also available for a fee. People often mention museum, Nice, voor, beautiful, interesting, nice, Friesland, time, children, clocks,

(Translated by Google) Wind turbine village Talking about the Netherlands, thinking of the wind turbine From the train station, walking along the road will see the first wind turbine. Keep walking Crossing the bridge will see many wind turbines. Turned into walking, looking at pretty houses, very cute, taking pictures, looking like paintings. To the waterfront is a photograph of a windmill Very beautiful place Whether it is a turbine house, scenery, photography, every point, every corner, very beautiful. Continue to go to see the wooden shoe factory. Liked the style of the museum, it’s got a very modern feel. The art was interesting as well. There was an Esher exhibition, which I loved. Unfortunately the tour felt very hasty, and we didn’t really get to appreciate the art enough in my opinion. I liked the black and white room, where everything inside was black, white or some variant of grey. Felt very surreal.

The Zaanse Schans is a unique part of the Netherlands, full of wooden houses, mills, barns and workshops. Make sure not to miss the cheese factory, pewter foundry and the various windmills.

In Zaanse Schans, people live and work as they did in previous centuries: traditional crafts and shops have been revived here. Among other things, you can visit the shops of clog and cheese makers, the bakery museum and the still active windmills. A tour of the village of Zaanse Schanz provides an insight into what life in the Netherlands used to be like in the countryside. The visitor is offered a particularly beautiful view of Zaanse Schans from the water, so a trip on the canal is highly recommended.

This place was so good and it was so peaceful and pretty. The small water canals, the lakes, the wooden hut houses, the mills. It is always good to check weather and then go else it might be too cold. It’s just half an hour away from Amsterdam central. You can take a train to reach here and can spend like an hour to see this whole place. There are small coffeeshops and cafés and a super market. It’s walkable from train station.

What a clock collection they have , awesome .... they have explain each and everything there and everyone can easily visit and make a tour of Time museum. " UURWERK Museum" . Both the famous Dutch artist Rembrandt van Rijn and the first Zaan clockmaker were sons of millers. The 17th century Cornelis Michielszoon Volger was a clockmaker who also had interests in the windmill industry. He used a new development in the construction of clocks, namely, the pendulum. Just as the application of the crankshaft enabled planks to be sawn industrially with the help of wind power, application of the pendulum was a decisive step in the production of clocks on a larger scale.

It’s a nice museum mostly about the history of Friesland, if you want to know more about the Frisian culture I will recommend this museum. The building has nice architecture and please pay attention to the wall behind the reception which is covered by wol by an local artist! The museum is not that big you can visit it in a few hours. In some of the salons they used video projection to create different and special atmosphere which is done successfully!

A great place to visit and relax. This place has a rich history of industrialization and traditions. The windmills add a charm to this place. Loved it. I strongly suggest to visit this place when it's not too sunny but has a good amount of wind. The smell of cacao powder is strong here.

This place is serene, quiet, peaceful.. it's a stunning piece of architecture and hard to believe that it is still maintained since the 18th century try coming after or before the summer season to escape the crowds. Can get very crowded in the summers. Make sure to have a cap, bottles of water and umbrella handy. The locals live amongst these windmills.. please be careful and respect their privacy. Carry your own food.. fruits, sandwich.

Great wide and windy park. Nice time for a stroll and biking. Stop waffles and cheeses a must buy. For tourists, water and washroom use gets more costly if you head further out. So get them in the nearest stalls.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful experience September 2019. By bike we reached (2 adults and 2 children 9 and 12 therefore doable for everyone) this beautiful place starting from Amsterdam. We passed through flowery fields, pastures and adorable villages. The Zaandam mill area is beautiful. In some you can go inside and see what they were used for. Only very few are still active (either as a sawmill or as a millstone). However beautiful experience definitely to be recommended to everyone !!! (Original) Bellissima esperienza settembre 2019. Solo pochissimo sono ancora attivi( o come segheria o me macina ). Comunque bellissima esperienza sicuramente da consigliare a tutti!!!

(Translated by Google) Lucky in an accident: it is normally much busier here, but now the staff are clearly happy with every guest. But it remains a nice museum with many houses and mills from elsewhere that have been rebuilt here. What I found disappointing was Albert Heyn's first shop. Can't you make much more of that?

Both the historical and cultural exhibits had great parts. The role of Fryslan during WWII was great to explore. It worries me however that many people found it unclear how to traverse the building. Each floor had 2 entries on the side and an exit in the middle, but many people were exiting through the entries, which also means they were unable to see the max person counts for each room leading to some rooms near the entrances being very overcrowded. There was a lot of personnel walking around, but this didn't seem to help much. The general set-up should be explained better at the entrance.

A nice museum, huge building with 3 floors. There are exhibitions of Vikings, 2nd world war and Friesland arts. Big but not full, there could be more things about the history of Friesland and the development nowadays. There’s even no explanation of Friesland’s flag: is the symbol a water lily leaf or just a duckweed? Besides, there could be more interactive things for kids.

This museum is a must-see if you're ever in Leeuwarden. There are lots of historical artifacts that show what life was like and how it changed over the centuries. The Frisians were an interesting bunch. See the viking exhibit of you can. It's disturbing and fascinating at the same time. Plan at least 2 hours for this place.

(Translated by Google) The children found it a bit scary on the second floor because there was a lot about war they said. There the space and atmosphere was darker. On the 3rd floor, the children first liked to do the assignments that were on the third floor. Until we were told that it was not intended. The assignments there were meant for a class that was coming soon. My tip for the museum to make fun for the children as well: Leave the assignments on the 3rd floor. Make it accessible to all children and not just 1 class. To look at an object in a playful way would have been more fun for the children. Or extend it to other floors. So that it becomes fun and interesting for children. Just like with Alkmaar's museum. There at the beginning had several assignments for children. There it was in some places, like most museums, also dark in terms of space and atmosphere, but the children had not experienced it that way. The quest assignments we received at the till was fun. Unfortunately it was not suitable for young children (5 and 8) On the other hand, the assignments on the 3rd floor were suitable for them. They were enthusiastic about that and they also looked longer at the artworks and even think about things. They didn't even want to leave. Until we were approached. This was nowhere stated that it was only for classes. There were things on the floor, pencil case and paper. It was very inviting for the children. There was nothing to say that it was reserved for someone / class. See pictures of the assignments and how the children are doing! When we were approached, my daughter felt if she had done something wrong and she became sad. I thought that was a shame. We indicated this to the employee who approached us. I hope that in the future the museum will also make it attractive to families for children. On the 2nd floor you could take away coffee and sit a little further on the 2nd floor. There was enough space to keep your distance and disinfectant in many places. It wasn't much fun for the children, but it was for adults. So as a family it was an "ok" experience, 3 star.

The website had promised that Escher's "day and night" would be a regular part of it. We missed this work.

Great experience in the museum! The staff was very friendly. We learned a lot about the local culture and the expositions are interactive. Everything was well organized and the measures to avoid COVID19 infections were good.

Interesting time piece museum. Unfortunately I was not able to see the entire museum as it was under construction. What I was able to see was interesting if you like clocks.

It is far away from the city but the visit is worth it. The view is amazing. If you go to Netherlands, you should visit this place.

Hotspot for tourism, around 30 mins from amsterdam centraal by train. Family & child friendly. Has real demo on creating klompen/wooden shoes, and on creating cheese. Can rent a bike, can do boat cruising, instagrammable spots.

A very surprisingly interesting museum about clocks and the measurenent of time. I personally got here a little late about 10mins before closing kind of ironic seeing how it's a museum of time keeping. The displays where beautiful and the staff was super friendly. Admittion was included in my I Amsterdam Card which meant I still got to see the museum even if it was 10mins as I didn't have to pay out of pocket for full ticket for a fraction of the time.

Lovely little museum with the story of the pendulum clock and many types of clocks on display. For people interested in the maritime side of things they have a small session explaining how the invention of more accurate clocks helped the navigation. Worth the visit.

Small museum with only old-fashioned clocks. I didn't like it much, but that's personal.
