This was my first art museum, and it was quite fun and interesting. Tickets cost €13 and I booked online. They have free lockers with key for your belongings so that was helpful. I really enjoyed the exhibit where you could “smell” the art. This museum allows you to touch certain exhibits. We spent 3 hours here, and it was not too busy for a Saturday. Made for a pleasant weekend outing.

One of the best Dutch modern and contemporary art museums. The exhibitions are superbly staged, carefully curated and with a modern and interactive leaning. The modern extension is a box of surprises and it’s worth just to visit for the architecture of the interior spaces. It’s a delight just to wander inside. Top notch.

📍 Eindhoven / Netherlands 🇳🇱 🏛️ The Van Abbemuseum "The 'new' Van Abbemuseum is comprised of the renovated landmark building by architect A.J. Kropholler, dating from 1936, and two new sections. Both the renovation and structural alterations to the older part of the museum as well as the new sections are by the Dutch architect Abel Cahen. He has succeeded in organically integrating the old building into a new and larger complex. Despite its monumental character, the new building maintains the human dimensions so characteristic of the former museum. Massive installations or sizeable exhibitions as well as smaller intimate projects - such as showings of prints and drawings - can all be presented thanks to the variety of the exhibition areas. Cahen's distinctive design makes a notable contribution to Dutch museum architecture. The museum also has a whole range of new facilities, created by the Belgian designer Maarten van Severen including an auditorium and an education centre, which will accommodate a wide spectrum of public events." 👷🏻‍♂️ Architects: Alexander Jacobus Kropholler . . . The building and the artwork itself are just beautiful. A very quirky approach to the modern art era. Cafe on site also. Reasonably priced. Allow around a hour to see everything.

This place is the best museum I have ever been so far. I strongly recommend you to visit if you’re interested. A must see place for especially architects! The artwork appeals to the 5 senses of human body and tries to create new ones. I am not even talking about the location of the building where the water beats the exterior walls. Popped up glass niches coming out of interiors literally made my day :)

We went on a Tuesday afternoon between 15h and 16h which is free! We still booked the tickets online. We got to enjoy this big, fun, diverse museum for free! There were some pieces that were interactive (you have to scan the qr code), you could touch, smell and some had music! It's mostly modern art, which is not really my liking but I still enjoyed it very much. There's a gift shop and then a cafe by the lake, it's really beautiful! We also had to show our proof of vaccination.

It was fun, loved the carpets in some rooms that you could sit on and enjoy the art. Some of the displays really made you think, like the backwards wearing of shoes to trick enemy soldiers and the children's drawings from a warzone. Also liked how it brought attention to the colonial past

Nice museum. Friendly staff. Enjoyable environment. Limited in space & offering. Some art not easy to understand (for me), or even mysterious.

Very unique exhibits, cool elevator. Also handy for school art tours to find and describe unique art.

Great and inspiring museum of contemporary art in the heart of Eindhoven. Also great to visit the building to admire the structure and the way paintings, sculptures and installations are placed around. Very admirable are the reconstructions of paintings and sculptures in 3D to allow visually impaired visitors to feel the art creations.

Its a great place for you to see modern and contemporary art. I was very impressed and happy to see a lot of politically and socially oriented exhibitions focusing on climate change and discrimination. The app that is recommended with the museum experience has a lot of audio tours. You will also enjoy breathtaking paintings and pieces of different cultures. The building itself is also fascinating and ‘artsy’. Would love to come back again!

It was an amazing experience! It was my first museum for people with disabilities. I will never thought that it would be possible to realize something like this. The price to enter is reduced for students and the museum is so interesting. Basically there are some famous paint and they represent every paint in a 3rd way for the blind people and they as well give a sort of paper with a fragrance that reflect the meaning of the paint. I never saw anything like that in my life. The museum is clean and well treated, the personnel's are so kind and genuine

Wonderful museum with many touchable exhibits for the blind. It was not very busy even on a weekend so you can really take your time to appreciate everything.

The building alone is worth a visit. The art is supposed to be experienced with all senses. An interesting elevator makes different sounds depending on the floor you are on.

Loved the museum, the collections and the ambiance. How they designed the museum is an art itself. I liked how they have different artists and designers all around the world. I had only 30 mins before the museum was closed which was sad. But I enjoyed every minute of it!

Really interesting museum. Vast of modern arts, interactive art works (for instance you can smell the atmosphere of the art, movies inside the building…) showing the problems and questions from present times, going systematically from the first ground about 1920 and continued by upper grounds over the Cold War to the climate change issues and causes. It was really interesting, I am glad that I have visited it.

Very nice museum, with a mix of abstract art, realistic paintings, 3D models. The building itself is also interesting. I have liked the idea of making painting "visible" also for people who can't see: they have created some 3D version of the most important paintings to let blind people touch them and understand the curves of the painting. There are also temporary expositions, and also that one was interesting but I think it was missing some explanations. It would have been nice to have more informative materials.

Super Museum! Zeitgenössische Kunst in toller Architektur; schönes Café, umfangreiches Shopsortiment. Sehr freundliches Personal / interessante Wechselausstellungen …

marvelous collection! the use of 3D printing of art works gives another way to experience some of the paintings. Loved the section dedicated to Russian artist Kabakov.

What I love about this modern museum is almost all collections are displayed with an enjoyable english narrative. When I entered the first exhibition room, I must admit it was kind of creepy because the exhibit looked weird for me. But it’s only the first room and I think it’s the temporary exhibition. The rest is fine.

#50Eindhoven Easy to spot the building (and the entrance!). A lovely place to spend some hours. I probably should have waited until September for the exhibitions to open - but in the meantime there was plenty to see and explore, a pretty café feels like a little oasis in the heart of industrial Eindhoven #railthetrails

The exhibitions were thought provoking, visually appealing and adventurous. I spent time in the tea corner and had a lovely conversation with Jane.

If you are serious about art and you come here, bring a playful attitude. There is little to be in awe of, but there is much to experiment with. Which is the essence of post-modern art. The art collection changes frequently so you have to be lucky to find something that resonates with you. The museum has the right direction but the content could be improved so that the direction can be rejuvenated.

The building is very nice, easy walking around up and down the stairs, but also a funny elevator. The hanging boat was lovely to see from different points. The collection itself was nothing what wasn’t interesting for me or my friend, and we wouldn’t recommend this to see to our friends. Also we didn’t like that strange scent spread through ventilation sort of by design. With a different collection I would definitely visit again. But maybe we are just not fans of contemporary art… everyone has their own taste.

The building is quite nice. The exhibitions are not worth a visit at the moment, nothing good. The route is not clear inside the museum and the price is too much for what they show.

It's a small museum with a limited collection. However, they must have had very good curator. For they have made the most or of their collection to construct a narrative that you wouldn't have found, by just looking at the painting. It was worth the visit.

Visited this museum with a friend, it contains beautiful modern art. She had an art background while I didn't so I learned a lot and she clearly enjoyed as well. The most beautiful thing I saw was a carpet which was incredibly detailed. If I could buy it I would haha. After visiting I would recommend visiting the restaurant, as they have good cakes.

What a nice contemporary gallery! I am quite enjoy the place here. You can easily spent 3 hours and get lost in this place. The gallery has 3 floor where each floor show different arts from certain timeline. And if you are museum cardholder, this is the place to check in when you are in Eindhoven!

Great place where you can experience a lot of modern art among old and Classic pieces like Picasso :) Better to order tickets online, but dont have to worry about crowds off season (we went there in april). People on wheelchairs would be all right, as there’s an elevator helping you to get to each floor of this bulding, definetly must see :)

Amazing gallery with interactive rooms. You can try to experience what blind people feel when they visit galleries. There are objects to smell and objects to touch that can help you visualize a scene and then compare your imagination with the actual picture, which is close by. The staff is also extremely helpful and super kind. Big thanks to the man inside (sorry that didn't get the name), who helped us to better understand the concept of each room and shared a lot of fascinating facts that really amazed us.

I just have one full day in Eindhoven and I am the type of person that doesn't plan anything when I visit new cities. So what I did is to ask locals and also look at instagram to know which places do tourists go here in Eindhoven. And luckily enough, I came across the Van Abbemuseum which by the looks of the exterior of the building, is really cool. What I love the most about this museum is that it has a whole story that binds all of their artworks together. Also, I was touched when they have the braille system for those who are visually impaired. There were also some cards with scents on it which left my mind blown away because of the accuracy of what is described on that paper. I also loved that they have lockers (which are free) so that your visit would be very convenient. The installations are a must see and I do hope that a lot of people get to visit this museum as I really enjoyed going here. Not gonna lie, there were parts where I can't help but cry because it touched my sentimental heart. I won't spoil which one so better head there and see it yourself!

The new work is a kind of bric-a-brac. But the Litsitsky's are still superb to see again. Also a beautiful dark view by Permeke. And worth the trip are the Marlene Dumas portraits. Most impressive are the real life portraits of women who suffered torture by the Tito regime.

The museum offers very interesting, worth visiting exhibitions and events. I was there last time to see Gülsün Karamustafa's and León Ferrari's collective exhibition and I was mesmerized. The museum architecture is interesting, the exhibitions are curated perfectly, the staff is eager to help and they are very friendly. Also the permanent collection of the museum is satisfactory. You should visit if you are interested in modern art.

Interesting museum that worth a visit! We went on Tuesday after 3pm and our entry was free. It's only open until 5pm but the time was enough to check everything. What I found special about this museum as I haven't seen it anywhere else before, is that it pays attention to blind people. Almost every piece has a version that can be touched and feel out the details or even colors of the original piece! I found that amazing.
